• Cecile (10/5): Geweldig totaal concept - Hele mooie verzorgde lodge met sfeervolle tenten. Beter dan de foto’s! Veel aandacht voor detail; de buitendouche, het bad, gezellige veranda, sfeervol verlicht. Diner bij het kampvuur was een mooie ervaring. Het eten, zowel ‘s avonds als s ochtends is van hoge kwaliteit en keuze uit veel lekkere opties. De bushwalk in de ochtend was zeer speciaal. We kwamen dichtbij giraffen, zebra’s, buffels, etc. Daniëlle en Bryce zijn super gastvrij en laten je erg thuis voelen. Wij als gezin met 2 kinderen (11 en 13 jaar) bevelen het 100% aan De weg ernaar toe was bumpy door de vele regen maar dat maakte de ervaring van echt in de bush verblijven juist compleet.

• Frank (10/5): Memorabele ervaring met geweldige hosts - Bryce en Danielle zijn erg fijne hosts die vanaf moment één het gevoel gaven dat we ons er thuis konden voelen. Ze denken proactief mee en zorgen ervoor dat het een bijzonder verblijf is geworden. We zullen deze niet snel vergeten! Alles was top!
• Jan (10/5): Gewoonweg fantastisch - Vanaf het moment dat we aankwamen bij Lion Tree Top Lodge was het duidelijk dat dit iets bijzonders zou worden. Dit is een echte luxebeleving midden in de natuur. We kregen zelfs wat luxe “White Lotus”-vibes (maar dan zonder de misdaad 😉). De tenten (glamping) zijn werkelijk bijzonder: ruim, comfortabel en perfect geïntegreerd in de omgeving. In slaap vallen met de geluiden van de bush en wakker worden midden in de natuur is een unieke en onvergetelijke ervaring. Wat de lodge echt naar een hoger niveau tilt, zijn de mensen. De hosts zijn warm, attent en oprecht gepassioneerd om je verblijf uitzonderlijk te maken, en die houding voelden we bij het hele team. Iedereen met wie we contact hadden was vriendelijk, professioneel en servicegericht, waardoor we ons de hele tijd welkom en uitstekend verzorgd voelden. En dan het eten: absoluut fantastisch. Elke maaltijd was verfijnd, creatief en met veel zorg bereid. We hebben enorm genoten van ons verblijf!
• barry schaekens (10/5): - Dit lieve koppel, Danielle en Bryce hebben deze lodge redelijk recent overgenomen. Wat een waanzinnig lieve mensen. Alles was tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Een 10+. Heel veel succes met jullie lodge.

Starting from hospitality of lovely hosts and extremely delicious food from the chefs, to the lodge itself and all the atmosphere and animals in the surroundings. Magical! • Alex (10/5): Fantastisch hoogtepunt van onze reis - Hoogtepunt van onze drieweekse rondreis! Het complex is in september 2025 overgenomen door een jong stel dat hiervoor jaren in 5-sterren lodges heeft gewerkt dus kwaliteit hoog heeft zitten. Ze hebben veel geüpgraded dus het ziet er nóg mooier uit dan op de foto's op deze site. Dit stel doet er alles aan om je het naar je zin te maken, vertellen leuke verhalen en zijn ontzettend behulpzaam. De inbegrepen driegangen diners zijn van topkwaliteit en erg culinair en eet je gezellig met z'n allen rondom een kampvuur als het droog is. De hutten zijn erg luxe, binnen- en buitendouche en bad met prima warm water. En dat alles midden in de natuur. Drie nachten verbleven en met pijn in ons hart vertrokken, wij komen zeker terug.

• Luc (10/5): Absolute aanrader! - Onze boomtent Cheeta was een fantastische ervaring: alle comfort, dieren vlakbij, alle privacy (geen andere hutten binnen gezichtsafstand), buitendouche super!'Danielle en Brice waren perfecte gastheren, hebben ons verwend met lekker ontbijt en diner bij het kampvuur (onder toezicht van een groep buffels die een tiental meter verder stonden te drinken). We raden zeker de bush-walk aan, waarbij de ervaren gids Brice ons heel veel kennis bijbracht over de locale fauna en flora. Het was fantastisch om al wandelend van kortbij buffels, giraffen en impala te zien. Ook de gamedrive met Colin was een geweldige ervaring en we hadden het geluk de Big Five te bewonderen. Niets
• Alexander (10/5): Exceptional stay – a magical and unforgettable experience! - Our stay at Lion Tree Top Lodge was an absolute dream. The lodge is located in a very quiet private game reserve, surrounded by pure nature and complete tranquillity. Sleeping in the beautifully designed tree houses was a truly unique experience – spotless, well-equipped and with a shower overlooking the lush greenery. The mosquito net and overall feeling of safety made the nights, even with the sounds of wildlife around us, absolutely comfortable. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the entire team was exceptionally friendly, attentive and helpful. You can really feel how much passion they put into everything. Breakfast was lovingly prepared each morning, and in the evening we enjoyed a delicious 3-course dinner by the campfire – such a special and intimate atmosphere. We had morning and afternoon game drives in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, and they were perfect in every way. The ranger made sure we experienced wildlife up close and in a respectful way – unforgettable moments! Early morning coffee served before the drives was such a thoughtful and caring touch. The lodge offers outstanding accommodation, a private and peaceful atmosphere, and a genuine connection to nature. Everything was spotless, well maintained and far beyond our expectations. We would come back anytime. Thank you for this wonderful time – it was simply perfect!
• H. (9/5): Uniek verblijf in een gastvrije kleinschalige setting. - Daniëlle en Bryce hebben The Lion Tree Top Lodge nog maar net over genomen van de vorige eigenaren. Ze zijn meteen begonnen om dingen aan te pakken en verder te verbeteren. Hartelijke ontvangst met een drankje. Mooie luxe tenten met comfortabele bedden. Goed uitgerust met grote oa koelkast. Het avondeten is in een unieke setting rond het kampvuur met andere gasten. Diner is voortreffelijk! Daniëlle en Bryce helpen je zo nodig met al je vragen en wensen. Regelen indien gewenst ook de Gamedrives en Bushwalk voor je. Bushwalk werd gedaan door Donald, een kundige vriendelijke man die ons feilloos naar de giraffen buffels en ander wild wist te leiden. Bij Lion Treetop Lodge verblijf je in een kleinschalige setting wat resulteert in een uniek verblijf.

• xkellyz (10/5): Fantastisch - Een fantastisch verblijf gehad! Lynn en Bryan zijn ontzettend lieve en gezellige mensen. Het eten was heerlijk, alles was schoon en netjes, en de tours die ze regelden waren echt top. Aanrader!

• Vincent (10/5): Unieke ervaring in een unieke setting - Wij verbleven 3 nachten in Lion Tree Top Lodge voor onze eerste safari ervaring in Afrika. Na een moeilijke zoektocht naar betaalbare lodges, besloten we zoals veel Belgen en Nederlanders Reisjunk te volgen en zo kwamen we bij Lion Tree. De accommodatie is sinds 1 oktober overgenomen door nieuwe eigenaars, een jong koppel genaamd Bryce & Danielle. Ze behielden het personeel van voordien waardoor het eten nog steeds geweldig was, elke avond een nieuw verrassend driegangenmenu aan het kampvuur. De rest van het personeel was ook enorm vriendelijk, en de bushwalk met Donald was echt een enorm hoogtepunt. Ze regelden naast de bushwalk nog 2 safari’s voor ons, een full day tour in Kruger en een halve dag in Manyeleti, 2 leuke ervaringen en 4/5 van de Big Five afgestreept. Ik heb niet de impact die Reisjunk heeft maar met deze review wil ik wel bevestigen dat ondanks de nieuwe eigenaars deze lodge niet in kwaliteit heeft ingeboet, integendeel zelfs. De Lion Tree top lodge bevindt zich in Guernsey reserve, wat enorm tof is aangezien je opstaat tussen de dieren, wij hebben buffels, giraffen, nyalas en andere gespot aan onze lodge. Het nadeel is dat het wel vrij ver rijden is naar Orpen gate aan Kruger, een 40-tal minuten rijden. Dit is slechts iets kleins en had niet direct een impact op de totale ervaring.

• Martin (10/5): Tolle Natur und familiäre Atmosphäre am Krüger - Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in einer gepflegten Anlage nahe sämtlicher Privatreservate und Krüger. Das Essen war großartig und die Atmosphäre sehr familiär. Touren werden angeboten und haben Spaß gemacht. Die Zelte waren sehr schön in den Bäumen, wirklich schön. Nichts.
• Slaats (9/5): Geweldig! Echt een aanrader. - De Tree house was super. Lekker bed en zag er allemaal netjes uit. Locatie was top. Hele fijne tijd gehad! En de eigenaren zijn zulke lieve mensen! Ze hebben zoveel passie voor het zo aangenaam mogelijk maken voor hun gasten. Het diner rond het kampvuur en het ontbijt in de ochtend waren heerlijk. We hebben 1 keer lunch op en kregen een soort pie met vlees erin met frietjes. De pie was wel lekker, maar de frietjes waren zacht en vettig.
• RONNY (9/5): Prachtig verblijf - Geweldige plek tussen de bomen. Je zit echt midden in het reservaat. Prima tenten die van alle gemakken zijn voorzien. Lekker eten dat als het weer het toelaat word geserveerd rond het kampvuur. Superlieve gastvrouw Lynn en haar echtgenoot creëerde een huiselijke sfeer. De bushwalk met Donald was geweldig. De safari ging door het Kruger Park via de Orpen gate was een groot succes. Veel dieren gespot. Ontbijt meegeven door Lynn en mogelijkheid tot lunch kopen onderweg. 80% van de bezoekers is Nederlands dus wie dat vervelend vindt........... Het enige dat tegenviel is dat we na 2 nachten alweer uit moeten checken.
• Carlo (9/5): Heerlijke en mooie plek met heel vriendelijk personeel. - Vriendelijk personeel en een heerlijk ontbijt. Leuk om eens in een boomhut met slappe . Zeker een plek om nog eens naar terug te gaan.
• Thomas (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Lion Tree. Lynn, Brian and the rest of the staff made us feel very welcome. The tree houses are comfortable, clean and you are surrounded by nature. Many animals come by the water hole, which you can admire from the swimming pool or during dinner. It is also a perfect location for a day trip to Kruger or another game reserve. We would definitely come back here!
• Naud (10/5): Top accommodatie voor Kruger! - We hebben het heel fijn gehad bij Lynn & Bryan! Vanaf november 2025 zal de accommodatie overgenomen worden door Bryce en Danielle. Hele fijne mensen met een frisse visie voor de lodge. We zullen zeker nog eens terugkomen om te zien wat er is veranderd! Bedankt voor alles.
• Audrey (10/5): Highlight of our vacation - Loved the tree house and the food is amazing. Unfortunately after 2 nights we had to go to another accommodation because the treehouse we booked was recked by an animal. The food there was not so good and the atmosphere at lion tree house was way better.

• Willemijn (10/5): Beautiful stay - We had a great stay at Lion Tree! Lynn and Brian and the entire staff made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The area is beautiful and there’s lots of things to do. The food was absolutely amazing and it was a great experience to have it by the campfire. We definitely recommend staying here!

• Cristian (10/5): - Per gli amanti della natura consigliamo vivamente questa sistemazione, noi ci abbiamo soggiornato in inverno e di sera le temperature erano un po’ fredde, a riscaldarci delle coperte termiche a disposizione. L’accoglienza di Lynn, suo marito e di tutto il personale è stato molto caloroso. Le cene davanti al fuoco sono stato un momento che non dimenticheremo. Cibo ottimo e possibilità di uscire con il ranger per poter avvistare gli animali. Consigliamo questo luogo che ci ha regalato momenti bellissimi e un’accoglienza straordinaria.
• Arienne (10/5): Top! - De cheetah boomtent was geweldig! Wat een prachtige ervaring zo midden in de natuur. Sfeervol en comfortabel, met elektrische deken voor de koude winternacht. De chefkoks koken geweldig en 's avonds eten aan het kampvuur met een goede Zuidafrikaanse wijn is onvergetelijk. Brian en Lynn zijn geweldige hosts en we hebben mooie gesprekken gehad. Donald is een topgozer, de bush walk met hem is een absolute mustdo. Het is een heel andere ervaring om giraffen, zebra's en andere dieren op een paar meter afstand te kunnen zien, in plaats van in je auto. Maar ook de Manyeleti safari met Charlie was geweldig, hij deed echt zijn best om ons wat bijzonders te laten zien. En hoewel de natuur zich niet laat dwingen, was het wel aan zijn spottersvaardigheden en bereidheid om flink door te rijden te danken dat we zebra-verscheurende leeuwen en een luipaard zagen. De locatie ligt wat verder weg van Orpen Gate, maar het is zeer zeker de afstand en moeite waard.
• Marleen (10/5): Best African Bush Lodge ever! - The owners and the staff were so kind! We arrived as guests and left as friends. Having diner together with a campfire underneath the stars. There are a lot of options to do tours (safari or Panorama route) and the staff will take care of everything in an excellent way. At night we could hear the lions roar. No WiFi in the tent, only at the reception, bar and pool area.
• Andrew (9/5): Great hosts and bush walks with a unique tree top living experience - The treetop lodges were quirky and a new experience of living in the bush. Great hosts and very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were great! Thank you Donald for a great bush walk. A little dated maybe and we prefer self-catering, but as an all-in package we had everything we needed. In our case, rain also would have impacted the experience a bit.

The outside diner at the fire place is so nice. We also loved it that the owner gives you special attention and travel information!

• Ama-p (10/5): Exceptional - Lynn and Brian are very welcoming hosts, it was the perfect start of our holiday! And also great love to their staff Tandi and Flory, who made us feel very at home and who prepared lovely meals. The safari tips from Lynn and Brian were also great, and the location of the lodge is amazing (quiet, green), within 1 hour drive from Kruger. We did not prepare or pre-book very much from home, but they helped us arrange every activity very well so we could get the most out of our time at the Kruger. Would recommend staying at the Lion Tree Top Lodge very much!!

This place is REALLY far and once you finally make it it’s fairly ran down. It’s ok for a place to be old but this looks like it has not received any love at all in a few years. It’s a pity cause the rooms and concept are cool but it looks so abandoned.

• Eva (9/5): Superb - We had a lovely surprise upon arriving at our tent, the location in the trees was exceptional. The distance between the tents makes them very intimate, cosy. There are a very few tents in the lodge, a privilige. We enjoyed the beautiful tent, the well prepared delicious dinners. The staff and service were excellent. It was very peaceful, relaxing. Nothing at all.

• Marina (10/5): A real African bush experience in an nice cozy resort with lovely hosts - A special experience was staying at the Lion Tree Top Lodge in the Greater Kruger Park. At night you hear the lions roar, the hyenas call and the monkeys jump on the roof and terrace of your lodge. In the morning while you are under the outdoor shower you see the impalas and springboks pass by. During the day with a nice glass of wine by the pool you see the zebras drinking from the pond nearby. And close to the resort you can see the giraffes walk. A very special experience to see all those animals pass by your lodge. In the evening we had a very nice meal around the cozy campfire in the boma together with the super sweet hosts Brian and Lynn. The lodges are beautiful and equipped with all the necessities, separated from each other by wooden paths that provide the necessary privacy. So the resort seemed all to yourself. No mass tourism here like with the accommodations in the Kruger Park. In short, a real African bush experience in this small-scale, cozy resort, which was a highlight of our road trip through South Africa, thanks in part to Brian and Lynn.
• Craig (7/5): Good - Went to great efforts to accommodate a 4year-old, in particular the nature walk was pleasant. Lodge is great and has a great nature feel. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The focus on the tragic event relating to the previous owner was difficult for young guests.

The whole experience of having dinner outside the bom fire, it’s authentic….my kids loved it. The food was so delicious, always looked forward for the surprise dinner & the breakfast buffet.🤗 The owners (Lynn + Brian) & staff (Donald, Mamsy & Florence) are so friendly, you feel at home. Very kind & lovely people, my family felt so appreciated.❤️ Nothing much, just the size of the pool, a bit small for us who enjoy swimming & where it’s located next to reception, not practical.

We took the early walking safari which was nice, how ever we didn't see anything new from Kruger. :-) Donald the tour gut is something else The room is on a tree with nets to see the nature.

Limited game to see st the reserve but good game watching nearby and organised tours available to get to them

• Carole (10/5): We loved every minute of our stay, don't know how we could better this highlight of our trip. - Everything - Lion Tree Top Lodge is all you could wish for - brilliant hosts, fabulous room in an amazing setting, excellent food, good selection of drinks at the honesty bar. We had peace and quiet and were able to relax during the day then had convivial evenings by the fire eating dinner with our hosts - haven't laughed so much in ages. The bush walk with Donald on our last morning was memorable and there was a lovely breakfast every morning. The road to get to the property - visitors should heed Lynn's advice to use a high clearance vehicle.

• Monica (10/5): Couldn’t asked for more! - What an absolutely amazing place and people. Couldn’t asked for a better place to spend my new year! Brian, Donald, Lynn, Mamsi and the rest of staff made me feel so at home and taken care of. Rooms/tents are very spacious and comfortable with a huge terrace so you can really take in the surroundings. Dinner around the fireplace in the evening was lovely, and the food was amazing! Be prepared to gain a couple kilos - it’s so worth it ;) They will arrange any activity for you and I can also highly recommend the bush walks. I hope to be back at Lion Tree Top soon!
• Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Our hosts, Lynn and Brian, treated the 5 of us like family. Great communication prior to our arrival, regarding game drives and other activities, all being organised ahead of time. Really comfortable 'tree top tents', in the Bush, with associated wildlife nighttime noises. Fantastic sleeps. Loved the small social gatherings at breakfast and dinner, meeting and chatting with the other local and intrmernational guests, together with Lynn and Brian. Food was excellent and plentiful. Great chef and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were very sad to leave after our 6 nights and 5 very full days. Would highly recommend it if you want to experience the real Bush atmosphere in a small, family group setting. There was nothing not to like

To fall asleep with the sound of the savana forest is one of a kind. Lynn and Brian and all the team are amazing, very nice and great to talk with. Thank you for their very warm welcome, you feel almost home. A very great stay, and the food was also delicious. It is lost in a Game reserve which is awesome, the road to get there is a bit tidious and 45min from Kruger entrance. That is just a very small downside, otherwise the place is perfect to deconnect.

Tented accommodation in the trees was a great experience.Good proximity to Blyde river canyon (boat cruise) too. Would have been nice to be in a reserve with its own local game drive. However, Lynn organized a separate drive to Malenyeti, which was great.

• Sharon (10/5): Out of Africa - The place is very clean and well-kept, beautiful, in the heart of a private and quiet nature reserve. The cabins: each cabin is isolated from the other cabins. Although there ia a shower and a hotub, there is (in addition) an outside (isolated) shower. The bed is insanely comfortable, the atmosphere is romantic and reminiscent of the movie "Memories of Africa". Each cabin has private access for the vehicle. The hosts: A warm local couple, Bryan and Lynn, loving and caring, even after we left the lodge. From the first moment we got the feeling of a "home away from home". Meals: we especially enjoyed breakfast and dinner thanks to the great cooker on site and we ate the dinners around the fire. One night we even spotted buffaloes while having dinner. In conclusion, staying at the place is highly recommended, even if it is necessary to get there specifically. Thank you so much, Bryan and Lynn. Nothing at all

• Tina (10/5): Magical trip with memories to last forever! - Where do I start? This place was just magical. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Lynn and Donald are incredible hosts! We really felt with one with nature but with the added comforts. I have never stayed in a place like this and it exceeded all my expectations. Donald is so clever and knowledgeable and genuinely interested in talking with his guests. Lynn is such an amazing character and talks from the heart. It was really a perfect 2 night stay, I wish it was longer. Every part of it was amazing, dinner by the fire, listening to the animals at night, the outdoor shower....the list is endless! Go and book!! That I wasn't there for longer!
• Luisa (10/5): Exceptional - The location is great, surrounded by nature and just 30 minutes from Kruger Orpen Gate. The tents are beautiful and comfortable, cured in details (including electric blanket if it’s cold). The restaurant and the chef is amazing, best dinner during our travel! We only spent one night so we couldn’t enjoy activities proposed but Lynn and the staff are all super nice people. Wifi available only at the reception/restaurant so don’t expect to have it in the room ;). Nothing!

• Michael (10/5): Magical tree house stay! - We had the most divine 3-night stay at Lion Tree Top Lodge! - Hospitality: Brian, Lynn and staff were incredibly warm and hospitable and made us feel at home. They were always up for a friendly chat, and were happy to help with booking any activities for you (even outside of the lodge). - The treehouse: we stayed in the Cheetah treehouse and absolutely loved it! The trees are literally growing onto the balcony. There's a kettle (teas and coffee) and a bar fridge in the unit, which is all you need. There is no cell reception in the unit, so you feel completely off the grid! Lion Tree Top is a slice of heaven. - Location: the lodge is situated in Guernsey private reserve, which borders the Kruger National Park. The Guernsey road isn't in great condition, so a high-rise vehicle is highly recommended. Guernsey is teeming with lots of wildlife (no big 5) and birds, and you can hear the lions from Kruger roaring at night as if they're a stone throw away from your treehouse. It takes about an hour to get to the Orpen gate at Kruger. - Food: The food (breakfasts and dinner) were delicious, prepared by a talented private chef - 10/10. Chef was very proud of her meals and presented the 3-course creative dinner menu each night. I especially loved sitting around the boma for dinners swapping stories with the other guests. Nothing at all

• Barrie (10/5): Just go! - Very peaceful place, the lodge was even better than on the photos. On the first night we spotted a giraffe while sitting on a lakeside bench close to our room. Staff is super friendly, dinners are incredible. What else to say, just go! Nothing.
• Neil (3/5): wont be back - ever - the pleasant lady Origin who prepared all the meals and was the rare highlight of a disappointing stay terrible roads and the unsigned detour to try and get to the lodge once inside Guernsey and that our concern was dismissed by staff member whose only concern appeared to be to sell excursions before we had even got into our room or unloaded our luggage. The tar road was terrible with over 250 potholes and the road thereafter worse and took 45 minutes to travel 20 km Why they don't advise guests that they need a four wheel drive which is advisable
• Barbara (10/5): Highly recommended - Amazing, secluded, peaceful, and private lodge with beautiful surroundings. Brian, Lynn and Donald welcomed us and were brilliant hosts. Lynn arranged all the activities we wanted to do perfectly. Food was exquisite. This break was exactly what we both needed. If you want an exclusive experience, this is the place to visit!! We saw lots of game both on the reserve and in Kruger and Manyaleti. Highly highly recommended.

We were overcharged for a morning safari (R1450 pp) that went from 5am and returned at 9:30am to Manyaleti Reserve. The exact same safari from another lodge nearby was R1050 and all other ones we went on weren't more than R950.
• Happson (8/5): - Very helpful staff and owner. Good braai dinner by Tinyiko. Only think that I forgot to tell management is to remove a wire tub plug handle in Cheetah. It is very dangerous when bathing and is an accident in waiting

All our trips were organised for us and they were friendly, helpful and great fun....Easy to get to from Hoedsprit airport and a very comfortable, interesting place to stay. Loved the big comfy beds and outside shower. Also the food was excellent thanks to Tinyiko the chef. Very varied and delicious. Highly recommended place to stay. Nothing

Lynn, Brian and the amazing staff made us feel really welcome. this truly is a lodge with a warm hart and a fascinating story of the former white tigers. we had a great diner and listened to the great stories of Brian and Lynn. In the morning we did a bush walk with Donald and learned a lot about animal tracks. The Safari tents are amazing!!! we regret we only had the time to spend one night here… Nothing

We heard a lot of animals during the night so it really gave the feeling you are really in a national park. the hosts are amazing and we even had dinner with them. They really care about their guests and their safety which makes them even more kind! The food was a-ma-zing. I’m a vegetarian and they made delicious food specially for me. We booked all our safaris at the lodge and everything was well organized. Would 10/10 recommend this please. Loved the location, people, food and everything else. Thanks for making our Kruger experience this great! x
