Guest Reviews
- Melanie (5/5): Okay if you need to stay somewhere quickly and elsewhere booked up . - Parking facility available and very near to local shops Not a very good welcome on arrival . Room upstairs ( no lift or offer of help with cases ) and everything a bit shabby . Shower lukewarm and decor very tired .
- Julia (6/5): Adequate accommodation for walkers doing the SWCP but not great for holiday makers. - Central location. Comfortable bed. Pleasant staff The room decor was in need of updating- it was “tired”. The shower plug didn’t drain well due to matted hair (not ours) clogging it up.
- Tanja (1/5): Gruwelijk! - Helemaal niks! Het smerigste hotel wat ik ooit geweest ben. Alles plakt, overal vieze vlekken, schimmel in de douche. Doorgezakt bed, heel veel stof. Vreselijk!
- Vanbussel (10/5): Ideaal in het centrum - Goede uitleg Niks

- Mark (8/5): A warm welcome and a pleasant night was had! Thank you to The George Inn - very nice and friendly staff! Lady that greeted us was lovely and welcoming ! The shower in our en-suite room was fantastic! Very central location! Cannot say there was anything we did not like! Our room was very small but for one night it was absolutely fine!
- Heike (8/5): Wir waren nur eine Nacht da und dafür war es ok - Sehr nettes Personal Sehr in die Jahre gekommen
- Kayleigh (7/5): -
- Rose (8/5): friendly and good location - The woman who checked us in, very welcoming The bedroom you could not lock from the inside and a lick of paint needed
- Tom (10/5): -
- Debra (9/5): Comfy, homely feel - I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Every one of them were pleasant, helpful and eager to please. Making us feel very at home. Extremely pet supportive, friendly and loving. Beds comfortable. Whole room, we had the family room, very clean, neat and tidy. Towels, toiletries, hairdryer provided and tea/coffee making facilities. Nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous breakfast. Tiny things; one bedside bulb was not working. Reported. Toilet seat loose and the outside sign "sang" us to sleep at night as it was windy.
- Gina (9/5): Excellent value - Bed was very comfortable. Room small but had everything. Very clean. Bathrrom. Shower not hot enough. Toilet seat loose.
- Julie (8/5): -
- Wenda (7/5): Value for money - Not much choice for breakfast no cereals
- barry (7/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Good value for money - Lovely hotel good location, excellent breakfast
- Sally (10/5): Spot on! - Comfortable room, good breakfast options. Staff were very friendly Nothing
- Gary (7/5): Our stay was ok and it was a pleasure having a chat with Roy at breakfast. - The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. The bedding was a good quality and having toiletries in the bathroom was nice. The room looked tired and the shutter on the window was broken as there was a bit missing. Unfortunately there wasn’t any food available in the evening due to the chef being ill and there wasn’t much option to eat anywhere else within walking distance as we do not eat fish.
- Claire (7/5): Comfortable stay, good breakfast and friendly staff. Close to the Tarka Trail - Really great, fresh cooked breakfast.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were functional but a bit tired.
- Rhian (10/5): -
- Katy (10/5): -
- Hilder (6/5): Great breakfast, lovely staff, shame about the mould. - The staff (and locals) were friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was lovely. There was damp and mould in our room. We couldn’t even hang anything as the cupboard had mould too. The 1st night we were hardly in there so lived with it (though we shouldn’t have had to in the first place). When I told them about the mould the next day there was no apology, only told that ‘that room wouldn’t normally be opened up if were weren’t so busy’.
We’ve had to wash everything as all our clothes smelt of the mould when we got back home.
In addition there was no heating the first night and only warm water in the morning as there had been a power cut the night before and no one had told anyone. The second night was warmer, with hot water the morning after.
Bottom line, don’t rent that room out just to make money. Disappointed.
- Sharon (9/5): Braunton - George - Location ist brilliant, parking is a bonus opposite the location
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Vincent (7/5): - Great location, great bar, great staff Rooms are quite tired but still clean
- Vicky (2/5): -
- Isabel (8/5): - We had the festive menu in the evening which was really good and they provided plenty of vegetables done in an interesting way, which makes a nice change and was appreciated.
- Janice (5/5): - Situated in a good place for where we needed to be. Breakfast was good The room was very tired looking. It had damp black marks on the walls and in the shower. Also the shower head needs cleaning. The water pressure wasn't good. The staircase to get to rooms really smelt badly. Some sort of spray had been used to cover the damp smell. It was very over powering and just added to it. I think it was expensive for what it was. I didn't get a good night's sleep there.
- Anne (9/5): Fabulous find and great value for money - Staff were fabulous. Food was great (dinner and breakfast) and bed was super comfy. Good size room and the extra touches of water and biscuits were appreciated. Rooms are old (which fits with the building) but decor could be updated in places. Doors to bathroom didn’t quite meet in the middle.
- Jon (8/5): -
- Pamela (5/5): We won’t be returning. - We parked across the road in the car park. On leaving the barrier failed to rise and the intercom was not answered. We had to pay £10 to get out. There was no time to return to the hotel as we had an appointment.
- RICHARD (8/5): Stayed before and will do so again - Local to everything in the village Nothing
- Richard (8/5): Good Breakfast worth the money. - Friendly staff, good Breakfast. Would stay again. N/A
- Nathan Strathdee (7/5): - The location is convenient and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The bathroom and shower are a good size and the shutters are a nice touch. Some of the walls show some.signs of wear. They have a karaoke night on the last Saturday of every month, which is pretty loud in the room. It is advertised but I'd missed it. If you like karaoke then I am sure it is fun - I don't. It finishes at 11:30 after which the place is quiet.
- Hähnel (3/5): - Großes Zimmer, gutes Frühstück Die Matratze war so durchgelegen, dass schlafen auf ihr nicht möglich war. Die Tür der Duschkabine war kaputt.
- Alexandra (8/5): Great place - The breakfast was well worth the long wait. Everything was fine for the price.
- Lizet (7/5): -
- Claire (10/5): Good value hotel with lovely staff - Staff were very nice helpful friendly people, room was spacious and bed comfortable N/A
- Tom (8/5): Ideal for a Short Stay - Excellent location with parking across the road. Really enjoyed the breakfast with great choice. Good restaurant directly opposite the George. Will certainly use again when in area next summer. Ideal for short stay and good value for money Nothing really.
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Cee (7/5): Best value for money we’ve had on our trip. Breakfast was not brilliant. - Good sized room and big bed Noisy road
- Richard (8/5): -
- Marcin (10/5): - Nice personel,
- Alannah (10/5): - Had a lovely overnight stay at the George Inn. My room was lovely. Love how each room is named, mine happened to be Crow Point facing the high street but I did not hear any traffic during the night. As this is a pub, you will hear some noise, but nothing that disturbed my sleep at all and all was quiet by 11pm and if you're booking a room here I think that would be obvious to you anyway. The only distant sound I heard was from someone watching TV in another guest room around 3:30am but that is NOT the hotel's fault. I found their guide (in one of the desk drawers) very informative and useful. Please be aware if you do not drive, you cannot depend on taxis, none are ever available. There are buses and a bus stop that is right outside the hotel and you can get around via that, but do not expect them to run often. I had dinner at the pub, and breakfast and both were excellent. There is a Co-Op two doors down and a fish and chip restaurant that smelled wonderful. There was nothing to dislike.
- John (7/5): Good overall stay great value and fantastic breakfast - Great value for money and a fantastic breakfast. Room was a little tired but for the money can't complain. Very noisy outside late evening with local youngsters shouting.
- Barry (10/5): Fantastic. Just what we needed. - Friendly staff and great food.
- JULIAN ANDREW (8/5): Braunton break - Great location that met our plans for 3 days in North Devon Noise during the night of what appeared to be a compressor cutting in and out
- NORMAN (6/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Jeremy (7/5): Fine -
- Laurence (10/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): Amazing value for money - Great experience. Rooms bigger and more comfortable than expected, free parking provided via the public car park opposite which would have cost an extra £10 a day (summer rate). Breakfast menu was great and included in price. Bed really soft and comfy. Some noise from the bar downstairs but staff were mindful of it and music was stopped at 11pm. Supper was available to buy until 9pm and food was good. Perfect for passing through as so flexible on timings, good value and friendly.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Smith (5/5): Never again - Proximity to wedding venue Cold greeting. Room not made up or turned down. No clean towels on second day
- Charlie (8/5): A charming manager who was so welcoming. - A great location for exploring the area. Friendly staff. The rooms were a little tired but the bed was comfy and had all you really need.
- James (7/5): Stay was Ok, we would visit again, good value - It was very close to all shops and restaurants and free parking across the road.
Staff were nice and our room was very clean.
Breakfast was good. It was very noisy after 11pm, for quite a while, I guess that the bar area had to be cleaned as it was the sound of furniture being dragged about.
It was a bit annoying but obviously had to be done, so we would stop here again
- nick (9/5): Good traditional pub stay - Great old pub. Good atmosphere in the pub. The solid brickwork meant it was quiet and insulated from the bar noise. Good breakfasts. We had completely refreshed new tiled bathroom with good powerful shower. Lovely people. Despite being a little tired from age and a small ceiling stain from a water leak, everything was very clean
- Tina (9/5): Great stay - absolutely recommend! - The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and bar food were excellent and good value. The only thing that stopped me rating a 10 was the lack of a bathmat.
- Lynda (10/5): Stay in a coastal small pub - Quaint little pub, staff where lovely & friendly especially Paul behind the bar Accommodation rooms, very spacious and lovely decor.
- mihoko (4/5): - 街中にあります。 車の混雑がひどい 12時近くまで、1階のパブでカラオケ会 寝られなかった その後、お掃除の音で眠れなかった。
- Yvonne (10/5): We will be returning...that's for sure! - Great value for money. A lovely spacious, clean room, with good quality sheets and towels. A sumptuous breakfast.
- Michael (5/5): -
- RADJankowski (6/5): Great location food and staff. Choose a room neaar the Bar for better wifi. - Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, and very flexible. Basically anything you want. Room was clean, quiet and roomy. Particularly liked the funky "wardrobe". Plugs both sides of the bed. Great location and easy free parking in the public car park opposite the Inn, with a pedestrian crossing right in front. The road gets very busy. Park early on Fridays and Saturdays. Very poor wifi in the room. It was compounded by the fact that there is little EE signal, so our phones were virtually useless. In the Bar wifi signal was OK. Ask for a room nearer the Bar.
- Moreen (7/5): Prima overnachting op doorreis. - Schoon, goed restaurant, aardig personeel Duiven voor ons raam, daardoor kon ons raam maar een klein beetje open. Dit was benauwd.
- John (8/5): -
- Anne (8/5): -
- Rendrit (10/5): -
- Iris (4/5): -
- Kate (8/5): -
- christopher (3/5): Very noisy and tired place to stay not good value for money - Was in the heart of Braunton Being in the centre it was so noisy had zero sleep and it was so hot being in the top floor we had to open windows also slatts missing from blinds so could not block out light
- John (8/5): Liked it - Relaxed atmosphere stayed here before and it’s a very convenient spot for the beach, shopping and journey into Barnstable.
- Sarah (7/5): -
- Unique Susannah (8/5): Great place to stay - The family who run the Inn work so hard. The breakfast is 5 star. If you have dogs there are good footpaths very close by. Also the car park is just opposite. The noise....we are old and love peace and quiet. I hadn't realised that there were so many young people who were having fun! This is the only downside because of our age and time of life.
- Eric (8/5): -
- Cherie (9/5): -
- John (7/5): -
- Jim (3/5): Gone down. - Centre of Braunton and 10 mins from beach Rooms were very basic - when I arrived there were no hangers in mini wardrobe.
No wall mirror or curtains - instead very ill fitting and useless Venetian blind so had to rise with the sun ! Not good.
Breakfast very slow 50 mins for tepid egg on toast -
Over the years have been a regular user but unfortunately no more.
- Diana (6/5): -
- HaRa (9/5): - Sauberes, geräumiges Zimmer. Freundliches Personal. Gute Lage. Ideale Unterkunft für den SWCP.
- KW (3/5): Not good value at £120. - The bed was comfy Really poor decor. Stains on carpet, walls, ceiling. Broken window shutters that let light in at 4.30am.
- Sonia (8/5): Central location, good for eating out, friendly staff - Perfect location for a wedding at st brannocks church we were attending, beds were very comfortable. Shower not very powerful but did the job.
Bed had a large bolt protruding from it which my husband cut his leg on, maybe this can be sorted (pic included)
- Jonathan (9/5): - Excellent breakfast!
- Wendy (1/5): We would have cancelled second night - Clean bed The poor repair of the room and general appearance
- Stephanie (6/5): Ok if you don’t mind living out of your suitcase, lack of clothes storage - The room was clean and the breakfast was excellent. Lovely friendly staff too. The room was adequate in size. However, there were only two hangers and a few hooks. There were no drawers to unpack our suitcases. Therefore we spent a week living out of our suitcases.
Our experience has always been that our hotel rooms are serviced every morning. After returning from a day out at 4pm, our room had not been serviced at all and the chamber maid was servicing other rooms. I had to ask her to sort out room so that we could get ready in time to meet friends later. Their policy states that sheets are changed every three days; this was the fourth day, so I prompted her to do so. However she did service the room well; clean sheets and towels.
Lastly, be prepared for live entertainment, the sound of which travels upstairs to the rooms. The George Inn is a pub. I didn’t see live entertainment advertised on booking.com. If I had, I wouldn’t have booked.
- paul (5/5): - Good location Dirty and very uncomfortable bed
- Yolande (8/5): A warm welcome, clean comfortable room in the centre of town. - The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. I left my wash bag behind and staff rang to organise returning it to me, which I really appreciated. Free parking close by was ideal.
- RICHARD (8/5): Good stay, basic but clean. Nice breakfast - Centre of town Noise of a fan every few minutes
- Alison (8/5): -
- Julian (7/5): Great place for Braunton visit - Location and convenience It’s a hit tired and tatty
- Tone (8/5): -
- Martin (9/5): Overnighter to catch up with mates - Great location, good food N/a
