countrys364 (10/5): Abiquiú Inn Restaurant – The Highlight of Our Drive Home from Santa Fe - We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the restaurant at Abiquiú Inn. Our waiter, Derek, was amazing—engaging, polite, and incredibly knowledgeable. He truly elevated the entire meal. We sat on the patio and loved the peaceful, serene setting. We had just come from busy Santa Fe and were heading back to Durango, and this was exactly what we needed. It’s one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever dined. I’ve had many “bests,” and several happened during this meal. The roasted vegetables were perfectly seasoned and crisped, the enchilada was full of flavor, and the fish tacos were the best I’ve ever had (and I order them often). Even the rice stood out—something most places overlook, but here it was excellent. We truly didn’t want to leave—we could have stayed on that patio all day. The space is beautiful and welcoming. We haven’t stayed at the inn yet, but after this experience, we’re already looking forward to coming back.

Linda (5/5): Adequate country Inn in beautiful setting - The facility is in a beautiful setting and well maintained. The rooms were spacious and adequately appointed. The staff was friendly and respectful but not well trained. Housekeeping skipped cleaning our room two days (out of a four day stay) in a row and the "Service" sign was out (verified by our neighbor). Housekeeping said that the sign said "private". The service at the restaurant was also spotty. One of the breakfast plates came almost completely cold. One morning the waitress served "cappuccino" from the machine which didn't have milk in it! Lidija (4/5): All was good until they hit me up for the surprise tax. - The sculpture park was very nice. Very nice little cottage. Bring carrots for the horses. I paid the Booking.com agreed upon amount for a one night stay. Upon checking out I was informed that I STILL OWED A TAX of 23.64 USD which they had FORGOTTEN to disclose upon checking in AND there was no mention of this tax on YOUR website. I wanted to refuse to pay but was informed that they had my credit card number on file and had already charged the tax onto my card. This was very upsetting to me. Please see attached photo of my MC bill to see both charges. I have tried to upload the photo twice and it seemed to work but I cannot see the icon on this form.
Michael (9/5): Great place- would return. - The cafe food both breakfast and dinner was excellent. Delicious and offered in reasonable portions. Only three lights in the corners of the room. I needed a headlamp to look in my bag along the wall.

Extraordinary797966 (4/5): Disappointing night - We stayed at the Abiquiu Inn last week and had mixed feelings about our experience. The staff was friendly and. welcoming, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the condition of our room did not match the price point (over $300 per night). When we arrived. we found small stickers-what seemed like goat heads- embedded in both. rugs. We. ended up rolling the rugs up. and wiping the floor ourselves. to make the more comfortable. Later, when my husband got into bed, there was sand in the sheets on his side, which we had to. brush out before settling in for a not relaxing night. When. we mentioned these issues at checkout. the young man at the desk told us this "never happens." However, I. checked the TripAdvisor site and noticed several similar complaints, including one recommending that guests inspect the room before settling in. While the staff was. kind, the housekeeping. and. attention to detail fell short, especially at this price. I hope. the management takes these concerns. seriously and improves their standards.

We were overnight guests and had an unexpected situation arose, and the manager and the staff were very supportive and compassionate, willing to ease our anxieties and do whatever they could to help us. We appreciated the beautiful artwork that dotted the grounds.
liveoakg (2/5): Beware of extra charges and un refunded deposit fees! - Stayed for 3 nights in December. Was charged a full night's fee for a deposit that was supposed to be credited after my stay but instead was charged in addition to all 3 night's fees. In addition to that I was charged for someone else's restaurant bill that was charged to my room. The restaurant bill was refunded after several phone calls but the deposit was not despite being assured that it had been credited back to my card. I still have an unresolved investigation with the credit card company into this fraudulent charge. The credit card company says that Abiquiu inn has until March 17th to respond, which has not yet occurred. Unfortunate situation due to bad management with an otherwise nice place to stay... Not the way to keep happy customers.

The grounds were very nice to wander through and have a sculpture garden with art placed throughout. Our casita was well appointed either cozy furniture and appliances to meet our needs. The beds were comfortable. I can definitely see myself returning!

Dellecaj (10/5): Cozy fireplace for the win! - Incredible location. Loved the fireplace in the room and the horses and donkeys out back. Very well appointed rooms with very kind staff. Could relax in the room and were close to Ojo Caliente, Ghost Ranch, and Plaza Blanca. The first night we had weird neighbors smoking weed on the porch (which wafted into my room and gave me an asthma attack--not cool). I just wish travelers were better about neighborliness. Staff at the hotel offered to move us, but we loved the room we were so opted to stay.

We stayed in side-by-side roomy casitas with full kitchens, living-dining room & 2 bedrooms. The restaurant is excellent & the service/staff very good. It's just a mile or so to the tiny village of Abiquiu w/a nice antique/artifacts shop. O'Keefe's home is in the village. Wish we could have stayed longer. Wish the fireplaces had been adobe rather than electric.

It’s the perfect location to visit Ojo Caliente from, Georgia O’Keefe’s home, Ghost Ranch, and even Taos. The on-site restaurant was just okay. In comparison to other nearby options I wouldn’t go there again.

Amelia (1/5): traumatic, sorry to say. The Hotel was overall very nice, beautiful building, etc. - After getting an email from Abiqiui Inn prior to my visit, you asked for any special requests. I replied requesting a fragrance free room. I am allergic to strong fragrances. When we got there, the fragrance was very strong coming from the bathroom, but pervading the whole space. I tried opening the doors to air it out and for an hour, and keep the bathroom door shut. I tried wearing a mask. After all that I told my son I would sleep in the car. He said it was far too cold for that (below freezing that night), and that we would find another hotel. So we did that, packed up around 12 or 12:30 PM, and went to a hotel in Santa Fe that promised a fragrance free room.

Restaurant at the property had delicious comfort food options- FYI it is the only restaurant in the Abiquiu area. The Inn is Conveniently located next to the Georgia O’Keefe visitor center for tourists visiting Ms. O’Keefe’s home. The “smart TV” in my room was too much of a tech challenge for me; that’s just a personal issue for me.

Travel793162 (4/5): Undisclosed dynamic pricing = PRICE GOUGING - Undisclosed dynamic pricing = PRICE GOUGING. Abiquiu Inn cannot be trusted. They care far more about cash than customer trust and satisfaction. We had a lovely stay at this Inn. Until we found out that we had been badly gouged on price. We were charged $515/night, and checking their reservation system, every future night for the house we rented is in the $300's!! The rate for the night after we left was $385, and that was still in October, so their response that prices are high throughout October seems to be a lie. They told me that the price is based on traffic and that Thanksgiving would be very expensive. I checked, and the price is $350/night. We were gouged, and I'm extremely unhappy about it. If they are going to use traffic-based pricing, their reservation calendar should clearly show when prices are higher and lower, so a consumer can make an informed choice. I don't think the rate difference is due to traffic, because we stayed there mid-week, not in a holiday period, and paid the highest possible rate. They need to *make this right* for us, as we feel tricked and cheated and lied to. I contacted them and it's clear they will do nothing. In addition, there were noodles in the sink, one heater not working, another heater so loud we couldn't use it, and a toilet that leaked and made noise constantly refilling. Low standards for a room costing $515/night.

107JohnM107 (8/5): A Much Better Experience than Some Reviews - We made a reservation at the Abiquiu Inn with some trepidation. The online reviews seemed to be all over the map -- "not as good as it used to be" seemed to be one of the kinder ones. Others were more negative. But we had to be at the adjacent Georgia O'Keefe Welcome Center early the next morning for a tour of the famed artist's home & studio so no other lodging option seemed to make much sense for us. Imagine our surprise, then, when we opened the door and found that our Superior Room fulfilled that billing. It was, in fact, superior -- a well-decorated suite with a living room that featured a big couch, a small desk & chair and nice New Mexico appointments; a bedroom with the tallest king bed we'd ever encountered; a well-appointed bathroom; plus a small patio on an inner courtyard. Everything also seemed spotless. Our only quibble was that the giant king bed required a veritable Olympic vault to access. There was one little stepstool for an assist upward but there were two of us, so having two stepstools in this room seem a worthy investment for the inn. A sturdier version of stepstool would also be helpful. The often-maligned adjacent restaurant was perfectly fine for our dinner on the patio and breakfast inside the next morning. It offered good tasty food with some New Mexican flair, decent portions, plus assistance provided by eager, friendly and helpful servers even when overwhelmed by the dinner crush on a lovely September evening. Front office staff were also friendly and helpful in several encounters. A late check out was instantly awarded since our O'Keefe tour made it impossible to make the usual 11 a.m. deadline. Suffice it to say, we enjoyed our stay at the Abiquiu Inn and would heartily recommend it to other travelers, especially those who hope to find a good place to stay while taking one of the popular Georgia O'Keefe tours (reservations required).

But it turned out that we were pleased with the spacious accommodation and also pleased with the quality of food at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Not gourmet food, certainly, but absolutely fine and surely better than average. Our only complaint was that our room had the highest bed we have ever experienced. It took almost a vault to land there. Two little footstools to aid in entrance & exit from such a high bed seem like a little worthy investment for future guests.

suesJ8851DQ (2/5): Repeat customers no longer - We made reservations to stay at the Abiquiu Inn nine months in advance, as part of a cross country trip. We are repeat customers of the inn and have always had positive experiences, until now. Upon arrival, we were told by Randolph that our room was no longer available and we were given an “upgrade” to a “glamping” experience, which turned out to be a glorified tent with no a/c on a 90-degree day. Randolph then suggested that he would “move people around so you can have the casita of your choice”, the only option we were given was a small room, which was nowhere equivalent to our reservation. This disrupted the entire last part of our vacation and felt like a con job. So, we continued on to Santa Fe and received a warmer welcome and upstanding customer service from another hotel. As other reviewers have noted, the inn appears to have developed a pattern of not honoring reservations made well in advance. We will not return to the Abiquiu Inn unless management changes are made related to honoring reservations. We advise other patrons to do the same.

Amazing value for the room! Store with local items attached as well as a Georgia OKeefe Museum Store next door. A must stay if you are taking the Georgia OKeefe House Tour and a fabulous getaway even if you are not taking the Tour. Stop at the Bode Market down the road as well.

CFJ (8/5): Unique and artsy place to chill out and learn about Georgia O'Keefe - This was a quaint and comfortable hotel, with a lot of charm. The sculpture gardens were a unique touch, and there were great shade trees and sitting areas with fountains to enjoy. The staff was very helpful and even found a loaner charger for me to borrow when I forgot mine. I also loved that they allowed dogs and that the restaurant allowed them on the lovely patio. The local musician performing was an additional perk, and the whole vibe of the place was friendly and romantic. It was great to be to check out Georgia O'Keefe's home right next door as well--I highly recommend paying for guided tour. My only complaint was the sound of the highway in front of the Inn, which I know isn't in their control. However, it was quite loud for my taste and made sitting outside my room to read in the cute rocker (#8) and sleeping with windows open a bit hard. I will ask for a room facing away from the highway next time, and I will definitely come bay!

I found the hotel to be unique, special, and a destination more than just a place to spend the night. I even got some carrots from the kitchen to treat the rescue horses out back! The serene environment combined with close proximity for day trips to the hot springs or Ghost Ranch is such a plus here!

Rooms are spacious, quiet, comfortable. Ours had a fireplace and a second exit to an enclosed patio shared only by our building. Restaurant has unique items on the menu as well as standards, all are great. Sculpture garden as well as around building are great to see. Shop has good selection. Our new favorite place to stay in New Mexico and only an hour from Santa Fe. Visit the Lavender Farm.

Rooms are interesting and like the courtyard & fountain. Our server at happy hour & dinner offered us a sort of “wine tasting”. Since wines were unfamiliar, she offered us tastes and made comments about the wines and where from. Really appreciated this! Also were offered plenty of bottled water. Food was spotty - some good, some not so fine. Morning pancakes were tough. Electric needs to be upgraded; more outlets fewer extension cords. When we arrived, room was freezing.

Arlen (7/5): Good - The Inn itself was quite nice. Check in was easy. Room 9 was very dark and needed more lighting. Room 31 was nicer but the sliding door to the bathroom was not sliding easily. Hand tightening the hanging hardware fixed the problem. We had two dinners and one breakfast at the cafe. The strawberry and fieldgreens salad was good. The taco salad with beef was very uninspired. Very little lettuce and corn, the beef was overcooked and there was no sauce or other adornment - no tomatoes, onions, cilantro for color and flavor. Visually unappealing, dry and tasteless. It was improved by adding the pickled onions from the strawberry salad. The chef's salad with salmon was fine as was breakfast - 2 eggs and ham with toast and fruit, although the strawberries were a past.
