Guest Reviews
I comodini). Inoltre sarebbe bello trovare all' arrivo due bottigliette d'acqua
- Meda (9/5): Great stay in the old city in Naples! - Great location and a beautiful flat! A bit hard to communicate with the host.
- Mary (4/5): - Loved the area and the location. Outside space was good .Good comnunication with the people who ran the apartment.
Well equipped communal kitchen but no kettle. Good communal sitting and dining area.
Small bedroom and limited storage.
Did not realise that there were 71 stairs to the apartment and then a further very steep set of stairs in the apartment to the ensuite. Felt unsafe on those stairs. No mirror in the bedroom area or bin so had to keep going up to the ensuite. Not suitable for elderly or unfit people, would not have booked this if I had known in advance how many stairs there were and no elevator. No television in the apartment at all which is not a big thing as there was so much to see and do out and about.
- Maria (6/5): Definitely not going back - Luigi has been very kind to carry our suitcase up to the property as there is not lift. The terrace its fantastic, we enjoined it very much, full of flowers . Miguel the person in charge for the cleaning it's absolutely a pleasant person, (even though we had to call on our arrival to vacuum the floor), we are sorry that we couldn't say goodbye to him. Warning, 4th floor, NO LIFT, 67 steps to go up. My fault, I assumed there was a lift, so I didn't ask. The last flight of stairs, the steps are higher, and there are some uneven tiles, there was NO LIGHT, we ask for the replacement but they didn't do until the last day of our stay there. We did stay 6 days so it was quite dangerous going back at the nigh time.
- Kristina (8/5): Very good - The location was great - in the center and yet not loud. Overall not bad but some little details could have been better. It's a little hard to get the luggage to the last floor. The room was a little small and we had to go out of the room to get to the bathroom even though it was private.
- Marianna (9/5): Great choice! I would definitely choose it again - Great location, great space, clean, quiet, beautiful terrace It's on the 4th floor without elevator but didn't matter to us
- Bakar (5/5): Passable - Wi Fi is not working…
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - This is a extrordinary accomondation in the cenre of the old town of Napoli.
Highly recomandable if you want to explore everything by feet. And if you walked a lot, you can easily have a great rest in the apartment or on the terrace of the same. Only one small thing.
That there is a plastic cover on the mattress beneath the mattress cover.
- Joana (10/5): I ll be back for sure! - The location is very central with everything you need nearby. The apartment is beautiful, super comfy, with a lot of light and a great energy. The kitchen is well equipped with all the appliances you need, and the terrace is a must. The staff is the nicest, Miguel;)
And wrapping up the experience, Raffael is one of the best hosts I have met traveling around the world, so it made this staying the best I could ask.
- Eleni (5/5): Passable - The terrace is really nice. The main draw was the behaviour of the higher manager ( impolite and unprofessional). We asked for a hairdryer , they did not believe that it was missing and they wanted to enter the bathroom to inspect while one of us was inside.
We were four adults and whereas we had confirmed that there were one double and two singles beds,we found out that the two were folded beds. In addition, they just gave us one pair of keys for 4 people.
Pay attention in the description as for us it was not clear that we just rented one room for 4 people in a 5 rooms house.
*It is so bad for you that you lie in your response about the hairdryer. of course there was not and you gave us one the next day. The problem is not that there was not. The problem is your behaviour again.
- Jimena (4/5): Disappointing - It was clean The neighbourhood was ugly and the building and staircaes horrible
- Anonymous (4/5): Everything was fine except the property. - the location. The host was really impatient when we had 20min delay due to the passport at the border. The second one is that there is not clear information about type of the property which is actually apartment with many rooms where the bathroom was outside of the room.
We were 3 persons and the single bed was almost made in home type where the mattress move around during the night also with the bed…
The bathroom and the room were moderately clean.
The host left a washing/drier machine to work for whole night which was very noisy and we couldn’t sleep. We complained from the noise, he promised it will stop in few minutes but it was noisy till the morning.
- Marika (3/5): Noisy and scary - In one hand I Probably liked the fact that this place is in the heart of the city but in the other hand it’s a massive risk you have to take for your safety because it’s a dangerous place, especially on the road during the night . The very unsafe location.
In the last night I spent there, at around 6 am I heard a girl screaming. I believe on the same building or just in front of me. Was super scary especially because We didn’t heard any police coming, and someone else voice talking downstairs. I wanted to leave but I was terrify to get out and also the room is unpleasant , mould and humidity was the decorations of the room plus a big unsafe stairs which bring you upstairs to the toilet . But at this stage the room is the very last thing I cared . I preferred to stay in a quiet place .
- 903ruchab (2/5): Dirty, uncomfortable and not as advertised - save your money and go somewhere else - This b&b was basically a giant catfish. It took over 20 minutes for us to initially find the place, because we were looking for a hotel (that's what it was advertised as on maps), and turns out it's just a shared apartment in an apartment building (up 5 flights of stairs, also)
The rooms were dirty, and it wasn't immediately obvious that this would be a shared living space. The pictures online look way nicer than in person. We had a private bathroom across the hall, next to another couple's room and unlocking and locking the doors took over 5 minutes because the locks were old, finicky, and made a lot of noise. We were only given one set of keys so if you wanted to use the bathroom, you would have to lock the other person in the bedroom before going into the bathroom and locking it (we were 2 women traveling and felt uncomfortable leaving the door unlocked in a small apartment full of strangers at night).
The bedroom - like I mentioned, was so dirty that if you walked around barefoot you got black dirt on your feet. The bed was uncomfortable and so small that my feet would hang off the edge of the bed. I am only 5 foot 5, so I can't imagine how taller people would even be able to fit on the bed.
The bathroom - one of the lights didn't work, the shower was ice cold, and the flush didn't work. I asked the host to look into the issues after the first night and they addressed it quickly, but even with both lights working the bathroom was still dark (and dirty).
The kitchen was small and inadequate, without even a tea kettle or microwave to heat water for tea.
Overall - this property was not what was advertised, and not worth what we paid for it. I would say save your money and stay at a more established hotel.
- Katja (6/5): Pleasant - Very Good bei and no noise Bathroom
- Joan (8/5): Central location, quadruple rooms and good for the price - The location is excellent, in the center of Napoli and there is a beautiful terrace that is shared by all guests. Even though it is in the center, the appartment is quiet enough and has air conditioning. The beds are just OK and rather short if you are very tall. The water pressure in the shower is not great, with moments where there is only a few drops falling.
- Carter (9/5): Great location in the heart of day and nightlife in Centro Storico, Naples. - Great location in the heart of day and nightlife in Centro Storico, Naples. Near the National Archeological Museum, catacombs and other historical sites. nice kitchen and patio for guests. Four stories of steps to climb and haul luggage but fortunately our host Luigi helped us.
- Mohamed (4/5): this was a last minute booking would i book this again no. - i really liked the location accessible and safe the property was moldy and dusty, hot water is very hard to come its almost impossible to have a full shower.
- Lyn (8/5): Brilliant. - It was very cool
with a brilliant staircase, fabulous shutters and curtains. The heating didn’t work and the shower was cold.
- Ulle (9/5): Nice base in the core of Naples - A confy base in the very downtown of Naples. The staff was very friendly and you have as shared place with other guests a lovely balcony, living-room and a kitchen. You can organize group dinners in these spaces. You still need to buy your own coffee for breakfast or go outside :) In case you have heavy bags or luggage you need to clime stairs, each step higher than usually, to the 4th floor. In my room also the bathroom was at second level with a super strait modern iron stairs which were quite hard to clime. I do not recommend the room to people who are not used to clime 20 times up and down in the evening when you want to go out and prepare yourself. Or those younger folks who like to party and might be a lil tipsy late at night. You might fall down :) The mirror was only in the bathroom... or outside the room. No TV in the place - so no news from Italian public network. Still.. I liked the place, for me it was OK!
- Allen (7/5): the positives about the place and its wonderful location outweigh any negatives. - spacious and clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and lovely terrace 4 flights of stairs with luggage. very strange yelling noise outside in the courtyard at night. turned out to be a parrot. apartment is on a very narrow alley which took awhile to get used to.
- Alan (5/5): Place itself is great, but the owner did not mention about some restrictions. If we had known them in advence we would n - Balcony is great and the style of the appartment is great. it is locates in the center everything is in walking distance. It was not allowed to use kitchen, but this restriction was not mentined during booking. Airport is very close and due to that there were big noise. It is not allowed to put bags on the bed nor on the sofa. During the day we were not allowed to talk as two guest were complaining cause they wanted to rest-during the day! Bedlinen were like plastic smth antiliquid sheets very uncomfortable.
- Nereus00 (7/5): Good - Nice top floor apartment well positioned Uncomfy bed and wet bathroom
- Natalie (7/5): Good -
- chambre confortable
- Romina (8/5): First trip to Naples, during June. - Great location, bed was good. However, the hight to the ceiling was not good. Especially when in the shower, not possible to take a shower with out bending or having to squat. The breakfast was not the best. Could have had some more to choose from, more variety.. Our last day almost all was empty, halv a cup of juice each. Shared area and terass was beautiful. Truly great during evenings.
- RobertBrown1 (10/5): Perfect Location for Historic Centre - This really authentic place is ideally situated in the historic centre. The roof terrace is a great spot to unwind after spending the day exploring the fascinating streets of Naples. The rooms were really well furnished and the staff were so helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Very good location for sightseeing. Good self service breakfast. Helpful, friendly staff, who, whilst they don't live at the B&B, are easily cintactable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place, and nice host = Luigi. Slight problems to be aware of: 1) It's 70 high steps up from the ground! (Luigi carried our luggage up, but climbing back up every day is a slight challenge for old folks.) 2) In early September at least, lots of noise came from nearby homes even at 1a.m. or later, plus motorbikes on the narrow road below. Maybe in winter the neighbours will close their windows, so it might be quieter. We closed our windows and used air conditioning, but there was still some noise leakage. 3) If you buy any food and drink for your own use, make sure you label it so another guest doesn't assume it's provided by the hotel owners. (Two of our foods were taken by someone.)
- Marc_Lugano (10/5): What a nice place! - We stayed 2 nights, before going to Procida. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the managers are friendly and ready to give you all the information about Naples. Moreover, it is located in the heart of the historical center! Thanks Raffaele!
- RosannaGnc (10/5): Great place, great location, great people! - Those guys really know what they do (I realised later that they own few different b&b in Napoli).
I seriously loved this place! Very clean, very pretty, staff very helpful and welcoming. If I go back to Napoli (and I really hope I will), I will definitely stay there again!
1. unser Zimmer hatte kein Fenster und war deckenmäßig so niedrig, dass wir so gerade aufrecht darin stehen konnten, duschen ging nur gebückt (wir sind jetzt keine Riesen, beide unter 170cm);
2. der W-Lan-Router war kaputt, so dass wir in unserem Zimmer keinen Empfang hatten;
- asteca (10/5): Highly recommended - We had a lovely apartment (the African) with a private bedroom. Very clean and confortable. The breakfast was basic and you had to make it yourself. Very nice terrace. Old Naples is a place that you need to get accustomed to...the very narrow lanes full of motorcycles, people talking to each other through windows, the busy streets etc. The area seemed however quite safe and you feel welcome in their "community" after a few days. This B&B is located close to many good restaurants and some attractions. As mentioned in other reviews, there are many steps to get to the B&B.
- Christian (8/5): Trevligt hotel med terass! - Perfekt litet hotel man genast känner dig hemma i. Härlig takterass!
- Tim (2/5): Hotel ?.. - It was in a horrible area, the picture was the entrance..no one there..had to drag suitcases two blocks down an alley to get there..I was crying it was so awful..
- dompelican (8/5): Well located basic accommodation - We were only here for one night on our way back from the Amalfi Coast to the airport. It will suit some, but not others.
It is a big apartment that has a reception area, kitchen, lounge and terrace, with at least 4 bedrooms. It's very clean, you can make your own breakfast and there is a nice terrace.
It is really well located in Naples old town, and we loved walking down the narrow streets avoiding scooters and the drips from the washing above.
However it is on the top floor of an apartment block and there is no lift. So it's 70 stairs from street level. In addition, the bathroom in our room was about 10ft higher than floor level with what can only be described as suicide steps up to it (a 60 degree incline) - not for the old, infirm or inebriated.
For tea drinkers, there is no kettle in the kitchen so you have to use a pan. The internal door locks and doors are not as secure we have liked.
This is not a negative review - just informative. We would stay here again while we can still walk up stairs!
- anu386 (10/5): Central spot in Napoli - I highly recommend this lovely appt in the heart of Naples. It is very well located, near lots of excellent food places and historical places of interest. It has a lovely terrace where you can hang out with other people staying which was fun. The owner was great in recommending things to do and sightseeing routes, and was very welcoming. Highly recommended for a great stay in this crazy city!
- davidhC1894LR (6/5): Be prepared! - This b&b is located in a location which some may find daunting, down a typical narrow Naples alley which can be smelly, busy with scooter riders and very dark at night. Having entered off a small yard, access is gained by climbing 69 steep steps. The facilities are average save for breakfast options, which are poor. There is no safe. It is, however, competitively priced accommodation and convenient for most centrally located tourist destinations and for two good local, inexpensive restaurants: La Campagnola and Gino Sorbillo (go early because the queues become very long).
- ivanDBU (8/5): lovely apartment well situated in centre of Naples, lots of stairs to tackle, breakfast basic & self preparation - plus: apartment excellent situated in the center of the old town. We were very well received by a kind person. No noise experienced despite the central positioning
Due to the overall nature of Naples the area (small streets, compositions houses, ...) feels a bit dodgy.
minus: breakfast was self serving and self preparing. This can become difficult when three couples get up at the same time in the morning. As well breakfast was rather basic. A lot of stairs to climb/descent. Not so easy when one has a rather heavy luggage
- tonyaiello (10/5): Paradise in Naples!!! - We travelled through Italy for 2 weeks and this was our last stop for 3 nights and they were by far the best at this b + b. When booking the nights we got the best information and help from the owner Raffaele who made the trip so easy for us. He also gave us a number for the taxi from the airport which had a cheap fixed rate unlike the others there.
He met us at the b + b and welcomed us with useful information. He also gave us great recommendations on places to visit and the best restaurants.
The b + b is spectacular!!!! The decor is set to a very high standard with Neapolitan finishing touches. The architecture within the b +b is fantastic and clearly well thought out. One of many things we loved at this b + b was the roof terrace. It was lovely out there for breakfast and in the evening with a glass of wine.
The b +b had everything we needed with great facilities. We are already planning our next trip here!!!
- C9471YNadamc (8/5): Centrally located apartment - We enjoyed our stay at Dimora dei Giganti. Terrific location in the heart of the historic center. Nice rooms and a beautiful terrace and common area. Very helpful staff. A few things to know: It is really a shared apartment, you will have your own room and bathroom and will share common space with any other guests. There is no staff on site, you need to text when you arrive so someone can let you in the first time. It on the 4th floor of a walk up. There are supplies to make your own breakfast is you would like and the fridge is kept stocked with juice.
- elenaebm (4/5): Beware - We read all the wonderful reviews of properties owned by these architects/owners, so we booked 4 nights and paid in advance a deposit of 114 euros, almost 1/2 the total due.
We had no Italian cell phone yet, since we had just landed in Italy, but emails confirmed our arrival time. It took a couple of hours to collect luggage, take the subway, and find the apartment building in the middle of the old town. We rang the bell several times, but no one answered. Finally a tenant took pity on us and let us into the building, where we climbed the 5 flights and rang the apartment bell, to no avail. There was no written note or instruction either downstairs on the building or at the actual apartment to guide us.
Finally, we trudged down the stairs, and by word of mouth, found another place to stay for the night.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PHONE, YOU SHOULD NOT STAY IN THESE PROPERTIES. THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IS NOT ON SITE, AND YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF STRANDED, AS WE WERE.
- 25mikag (10/5): By far my favorite location during this Italy trip - I went to Naples, Capri and Positano this trip. In Naples I stayed at B&B Dimora and one other very nice hotel too. But B&B was like a home away from home. The location is built upon an ancient roman theater and the B&B is just homey and lovely. Very comfortable and welcoming. I loved waking up and having my italian coffee on the beautiful terrace. I enjoyed meeting everyone. The location is perfect for those who love being surrounded by culture. The view from the terrace is cobblestone streets, residences perched on their terraces and clothes lines draped across the streets from one building to the next. You hear the liveliness of the city at night and the morning bells waking the city. However, the rooms are quiet once you clothes the doors. Very comfortable and beautifully designed. I can't wait to go back.
- chielz (10/5): a home away from home - we stayed for the second - and definitely not the last - time in the dimore dei giganti. relaxed, very conformable and very quiet. including a beautiful roof garden for late drinks and or late breakfast. all in the middle of the historic centre amidst the hustle and brustle of very much alive Napoli. the stairs keep you very fit as well.
- dpr1_13 (10/5): Amazing B & B in the heart of Naples - We stayed at Dimora dei Giganti for 2 weeks over Christmas 2012, 9 of us with the place absolutely to ourselves, spread out over four bedrooms, four bathrooms, kitchen, living room and a large terrace. All the ultra-positive reviews, the emphasis on its location in the heart of bustling Naples, the diagram of the layout, the stunning photographs, the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner and staff, the up-to-date quality of the renovations, the general cleanliness and functionality of the place - it's all true. Just book it - you won't be disappointed.
- Hatsutrips (10/5): Nice time in neaples - We found hw address by chance and we fell in love with picture of the terrace and room, but we got really much more positively impressed by the real place. Location is perfect for strolling around in the historical center , enjoy local charme of the people. And have the best pizza or just a glass of wine sitting outside in the terrace.
Only problem was carrying heavy luggage upstairs or maybe some uncomfot in sharing common spaces wih unknown people. Sometimes cleaning was forgotten, but kit a big deal as we were back only for sleeping.
- whispercat (10/5): rooftop retreat - I stayed for one night with my daughters because I wanted them to expereince the heart of Napoli I chose this property. I couldn't fault the facilities - beautifully decorated everything you needed and suprisingly quiet for its central location. Well appointed kitchen and well stocked fridge for breakfast supplies. Quite a climb to the apartment so not suitable for those who are not too fit. If you want to expereince the real Naples then this is for you.
- takeslongwalks (10/5): A quiet haven in Napoli - What a gem. I was a bit of a grump as I made my way there from the train station, letting stereotypes about Naples color my impressions of the neighborhood's pinched, twisting network of streets. But the moment Raffaele let me into Dimora dei Giganti and we deposited my bag in my room, I knew I would fall in love with the city. The indoor space is beautiful, full of light, cool, calm, colorful, quiet. The terrace is heavenly, all painted tiles and tumbling flowers. And, more than anywhere else I traveled in Italy, the setup of this B&B made me feel like I LIVED there, like I had my own little home. I cooked my own breakfast, descended the steps and was instantly in the center of life in Napoli, overhearing conversations in the street and saying Ciao to the neighbors and recognizing the characters I passed each day. This B&B is magic, and through it I discovered that Napoli is magic.
