- TheBikerMidwife (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed elsewhere (we have stayed here and cannot fault it at all) so were just here daily for food in August 2024. Nine of us, food was beautiful every day, the stuffed vine leaves are honestly amazing! You just cannot beat the location, food on the beach but under a cover to take advantage of the shade if you wan to. Service is wonderful, food and drinks are great, prices are extremely reasonable and portions are large. We have been coming here since 2012 in various forms, as family groups, singly, work parties - always perfect. Really looking forward to seeing everyone again in June this year. It always feels like coming home. Arriving by motorbike June 10th this year - see you for breakfast then!

The owner Christos, is a very sweet person who goes out of his way to help us with any issues we had as well as really helping me out when I lost my passport. Our room (209) was very spacious with a comfortable King bed and an amazing view of Ammoudara beach. We had a really nice shower, large refrigerator and air conditioner which we needed badly because it was very hot in Crete. The price was perfect for us as we were not in our rooms during the day. The downstairs restaurant was delicious as well. Hotel isn’t far from the main Ammoudara strip but it’s helpful to rent a car. We would definitely stay here again. Ευχαριστώ Χρήστο για όλα!

- Tanja (10/5): - Heerlijk verblijf gehad bij Aptera. Zeer vriendelijk ontvangst. Uitstekende verzorging en hulp bij wat je maar nodig hebt. De espresso is heerlijk, ook lekker gegeten van ontbijt tot diner en prima geslapen op het dikke boxspring bed. Gratis ligbedden met parasol aan het strand. In de omgeving is ook restaurant Murelo een aanrader.

- André (10/5): - Aptera Beach liegt in wunderschöner Lage direkt am Strand und das Flair ist ausgezeichnet. Anders als in viele Hotelketten kümmert sich das Personal und auch der Eigentümer sehr gut und umfangreich um die Gäste. Viele Gäste kommen schon seit mehreren Jahren in dieses Hotel und das zurecht!!! Das Frühstück ist super und mit vielen selbstgemachten Broten, Marmeladen usw. einfach herausragend. Der Eigentümer hat einen eigenen Garten und vieles an Obst und Gemüse aus diesem, findet man dann auch in den Speisen wieder. Sei es zum Frühstück, Mittag- oder Abendessen. Hinzu kommt, dass man hier die griechische bzw. kretische Kultur viel besser kennenlernt, da man sowohl mit dem Eigentümer, als auch mit dem Peronal oft ins Gespräch kommt und so die Menschen dort und was Sie bewegt viel besser versteht. Man bekommt immer Tipps für abgelegene Strände, schöne Städte und kulinarische Besonderheiten. Die Zimmer sind alle sauber, mit kleinem Balkon, Fernseher und Internet ausgestattet, sodass man auch dort seinen Abend enspannt ausklingen lassen kann. Insgesamt ein fantastischer Aufenthalt mit tollen Stränden, vielen kulturellen Highlights, interessanten und sehr netten Menschen (Innerhalb und ausserhalb des Hotels) und somit der beste Platz um einfach mal den Alltag hinter sich zu lassen. Meine Frau und ich können das Hotel, die Lage, das Personal und den Eigentümer nur wärmsten empfehlen, denn so lernt man Kreta nochmal auf eine ganz andere Art kennen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

- Wolrdwide (8/5): Quite lovely spot,directly at the beach - Lovely Greek family run hotel next to the beach - very un-touristy spot and quite at night. Perfect for unwinding for some days, Close to bus stop to Heraklion. Would visit again. Location: directly at the beach next to 2 other small hotels. Does not feel very touristy and is very quite at night. Hotel is abt 7 min walk from the road where you can catch the bus to Heraklion and the airport. Taxi from airport ca EUR 22. Rooms: very spacious rooms with nice modern touches and very good beds. Rooms have balcony w possible to dry swimsuits as well as a fridge. Restaurant: there is a terrace just in front of the hotel on the beach. Lovely place to sit and have breakfast and look at the sea. Breakfast is very nice with some Greek specialties. Beach: just in from of the hotel with chairs and umbrellas for free for guests. Beach can be a bit windy.

The place is really on the beach and the beach is even great and sandy! restaurant is okay and serves very fast. Parking is just at the front of the hotel Lovely place!
- 11laurep (8/5): Quiet and relaxing - Not far from the airport, very close to the hotel private beach.. perfect, for few days. Rooms are big enough, and clean. Good bedding. Due to covid, rooms are cleaned every 2 or 3 days, but if you need a new towel, don't hesitate to ask them. The management even left me the room till the afternoon of the day of my departure. The staff are welcoming. Always smiling and attentive. Good customer relations. Good value for money,wether in terms of the room, the restaurant and the drinks. If one thing is missing is "rosé wine"

Plenty of other restaurants and bars around, but almost everyday we eat and drinks at Aptera hotel. Visilius, Christop, and their staff members were very helpful, polite and friendly.

The room was spacious and the layout provided our daughter with a little privacy. The manager/owner and the staff were very polite and accommodating. The location is ideal for Heraklion airport, Heraklion centre, beach and local restaurants.

- LiseJ635 (10/5): Nice hotel on the beach with friendly and super helpful staff - We rented the room with a panoramic view at the top and right away felt like at home. Christo was warm and welcoming as well as Vasili. The food at the restaurant on the beach was simple but very tasty. They grow their own vegetables so it's all very fresh. Our room was very clean, we had trouble with the air conditioning so we ended up in another room that was just as clean and spacious. We spent three days there because we liked the location and the staff so much.
- gmandru (10/5): Like home - Very friendly owner and staff. A pleasure to talk to Xristos, Vasilis and the crew. Great location, you can reach Heraklyon by bus, but you need a car if you want to visit this beautiful and interesting island. Glad to be back in Greece after 34 years and again to find friendly and nice people. Hope to go back and spend more time at Aptera. Good food and is not bad at all to have the meals on the terrace by the beach.

- JuliaSN (2/5): Dive- Smelly rooms, plumbing issues, dirty sheets - We got in late and found no one at reception, just our keys left for us with our names on the front counter. No info when we arrived about WiFi, etc. no staff anywhere to be found. We stumbled through finding our two rooms on our own, and there were no remotes that were necessary to turn on the air conditioner. At that point we called the online number, got an answer, and they said they would bring the remotes to our rooms. They brought both to one room in the 2nd floor and made my mother bring the other up to our room on the 3rd floor. There was no soap or conditioner provided until we called back to ask them to bring some up. The employee told us there would be no manager on property until noon the next day. We showed the employee the blood (?) stains on our sheets and the blanket and he brought us a new sheet (which was also dirty looking) and didn’t even take away or replace the stained blanket. The drain in the middle of the bathroom floor backed up and overflowed when we used the sink or shower and the bathroom smelled like mildew. My parents’ room was worse and smelled like sewage so strongly they couldn’t sleep. Overall just an awful place. We wanted breakfast but didn’t trust the sanitation of their restaurant after experiencing the rooms, so we left. There was also a dog wandering the beach area peeing on the lounge chairs. Very sad very night in Crete.
- festusmo (2/5): Room smelled like a sewer. - When we arrived late at night they had left the key on the desk with our name on it. Going up to the room we found it not very clean. The toilet seat and sink had small black specs on it and a few tiny bugs. The sheets were soiled. But the worst part was that it smelled like we were sleeping in a sewer. The smell was overwhelming and made it very difficult to fall asleep.

- Greg (10/5): - Good location, on the beach, quiet, clean, friendly staff. They do everything to make you feel comfortable. Good breakfast. Aptera restaurant offers good quality food right on the beach. No wonder many people are coming back to Aptera year after year.
- bobp2905 (10/5): Back again - ....but this year for 3 weeks and yet again we're not disappointed. If a quiet relaxed easy going holiday is what you're after, then you can't ask for much more than this. With great hospitality from Christos and his terrific team you couldn't wish to be made more welcome. As I said in my review last year, the rooms are simple but very comfortable with matching furniture, big beds and walk in showers. The beer is good and the wine quaffable and the price amazing. However the food is excellent. Stelianos the chef along with Elafaria produce some wondered traditional dishes as well as a range of old favourites and the portions are amazing. The mixed grill for just €10 (€19 for 2 persons) is great for meat eaters and old serve 4!! A nice addition to the fresh fruit and raki given after a meal is a small bowl of ice cream, a really nice touch. We look forward to coming back again next year and do like the new modern updated restaurant loos.

- KarenT1318 (10/5): Home Away from Home - Kudos to Christos and his fantastic staff at Aptera Beach Hotel for taking so good care of us while we stayed at this hotel. Warm and friendly service. Everyone went above and beyond; from arranging transportation from the airport to managing car rental for one day. The food was always delicious, fresh and always served with a smile. Great location; only steps away from the beach and walking distance from town’s Main Street.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - They asked us to pay 2.5 for each beach towel, and the beach in front of the hotel didn't have any free beach chairs so we couldn't even sit there. You could not get wifi signal in the room unless you were on the balcony. The room is very bare, but it was decent.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the view is breathtaking, the staff could not have been more helpful and they treat you like family. This is my second time staying at Aptera and I will return because the service is excellent, the food is superb and the location is very convenient for going down town Heraklion and surrounding areas. There is always plenty of parking as well.

- Chris (10/5): Nice large room - Nice room, good air conditioner. Nearby parking. Great beach and free lounge chairs for guests. Hot water for showers was hit and miss, mostly miss for me but wife and daughter claimed to have got some. Limited menu selection but other nearby hotels have you covered.

- Lisa (10/5): - Unser Aufenthalt war wirklich sehr angenehm. Die Ausstattung für einen Strandurlaub völlig ausreichend. Es wurde täglich gereinigt und frische Handtücher gebracht. Da unser Flug zurück erst abends ging und das Zimmer nicht am gleichen Tag nachbesetzt wurde, durften wir bis Abends entgeltlos das Zimmer nutzen. Der Hotelinhaber war sehr nett und hilfsbereit.
- Stella (8/5): Nice Hotel on the beach, - Nice clean Hotel very quiet and peaceful, easy to to to the town by bus and 10 minutes brought you to the main road, where there were bars lots of shops and places to eat.

- Manka14 (8/5): Good place with great staff - Aptere beach hotel is a typical Greek 3*hotel on the beach.Only one minus - sometimes it's rather noisy- great deal of rooms face the parking. Those, who stay in the front beach rooms may suffer from the taverna kitchen smells. Nevertheless, the sea view is nice, the food is tasty, rooms are clean and cosy. Even if all the above mentioned things were missing, the hotel would be our next time choice in Crete, because of the Aptera staff. Incredibly friendly, hospitable and cheerful. Thank you for our holiday!

- Martin (10/5): Familiengeführtes Hotel am Strand - Aufgrund der positiven Bewertungen haben wir dieses Hotel gebucht. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Inhaberfamilie kümmert sich sehr engagiert um das Wohl der Gäste. Wir - eine fünfköpfige Familie - haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir hatten zwei Zimmer für zwei Wochen ohne Verpflegung. Das Frühstück haben wir problemlos für zwei Wochen vor Ort dazu gebucht und auch das Hotelrestaurant direkt am Strand gerne genutzt.

Heraklion is just a short bus ride away. The sea is beautiful and the beach not too crowded. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing holiday by the beach and near the city.

It is easy to use transportation to go to the center of the city. Hotel restaurant is very good and others are a walk a way. Great staff. Looking forward for the next time.

- Kelly (2/5): Don't do it. - We stayed here one night to be close to Heraklion port and based on reviews thought it'd be a decent stay. We knew not to expect too much give the cost however...it was not what we expected. Far worse: we had to use a flash flight to walk the halls and find our room because the lights would not come on. The TV did not work. The beds were made from cardboard (or so it felt). This was the worst night's sleep and I couldn't wait to see the sun come up to get out of there.
