Guest Reviews
- Romeo Jr (8/5): Satisfy - The building looks old and the staff are noisy specially during bedtime.
No elevator.
No free water, coffee, sugar and cream.
No free toiletries.
It’s accessible/walking distance to Omar Saifuddien Mosque.
Jollibee and mall nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - close to food outlet
- AdamBilgy (6/5): Good location.... Rooms need updating - $B 25 from the Airport which takes about 15 minutes late at night. Located only a 15 minute walk to the grand mosque and town centre. Very friendly efficient check in. The first room smelt a bit damp due to the aircon unit, but we were able to change no problem. Best hot and powerful shower ive had in months, although no shower curtain so whole bathroom gets wet. Rooms are tatty, but could literally be rectified at low cost in very little time. Soft drinks and snacks available in reception. Free laundry. Able to split the bill by credit card and cash, so no currency left over. Transfer back to the airport only $B 10.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was amazing, super friendly and helpful. Location is ok, but not great. A bit of a walk from the main attractions, but doable. As for the hotel itself, it was quite run down and old. Nothing that would disgust me, but still, not great. The shower was terrible: low water pressure, broken parts, bad positioning... And the bed was way too soft and gave a bit of back pain.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice service. - Nice staff and good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Simple Hotel, Helpful Staff - Simple yet cozy hotel. A work in progress. Friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Lots of restaurants and shops around, and with nearby Mall and supermarkets, too. A convenient place to stay, and better if you have transportation service. Note: Taxi's are difficult to get in Brunei.
- ALMA (10/5): Highly recommended hotel - Staffs are nice and friendly. The location is also good. Bus stop is just is 5min walk from the hotel while bus terminal is about 30min but if walk fast, it can be 15-20min. Other attractions like Sultan Omar Alisaifudeen mosque, Makhota public park, Kianggeh market and mercu dirgahayu are just nearby. U can reach these places by foot.
Food is also delicious. The hotel is also near the airport.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great affordable place in Brunei - Excellent staff and great restaurants within walking distance.
- Mohd Zabir (10/5): - It was amazing hotel and will come back again to this hotel.
- Worldismyoyster1070 (10/5): Excellent staff and good location - The staff are lovely and very helpful. The location has a lot of restaurants, money exchange and reflexology shop in the same immediate area. They offered free airport pick-up (during certain hours) and very reasonable drop-off. The room is clean and basic but the price and location are good. Definitely would stay there again.
- MOAZEER (10/5): - Strategic location...many shop near the hotel. Very cheap and responsive customer service. Recommended to stay here.
- Barb (8/5): - Good location close to city centre with plenty of esteries close by.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had a pleasant stay here in LeGallery. They have provided a complimentary airport service who picked-up me from the Airport. The location is great as well, surrounded by a variety of restaurants and grocery nearby. The city center is in walking distance via the bridge in Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Value for money - Room is spacious and a good choice of breakfast is provided. The setback is there is no lift in the hotel. So rather inconvenient to carry heavy bags.
- desmondc308 (4/5): Run down hotel - Reception and corridors are beautifully decorated but the rooms are a big disappointment. Ceiling had very lousy patch work done to the plaster ceiling where there was obvious water damage. Bathroom light wasn't working and some of the electrical outlets showed signs of burns from short circuiting. The worst part was the breakfast provided. It took them 40 minutes to make a simple roti pratha. No explanation or apology was ever given. This is the first and last time I'm staying here.
- eza (10/5): - Best location in town. Easy to get food & near to the shopping mall.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - To do routine maintenance in room facilities. During my stay, mirror light was not functioning.
No floor mat/floor towel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I arrived @ midnight and they promptly checked me in. Someone helped me with my bags up three stories [no lift]. The room and the bed were quite clean. The two coupons for breakfast next door enabled me to really 'fill up' in the mornings. A leisurely walk to the CBD took about 20 minutes; it was quite sunny and hot. It was always refreshing to come back to the air-conditioned room and lobby. For the price, I can't think of anything to complain about - good value for money. I will recommend it for anyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay at LeGallery Hotel. Staff were very friendly.
- siti Nur'azimah (8/5): - Room was ok. Two floors up taking stairs because no elevator ( good for exercise tho, lol ) quiet area, lovely breakfast, plenty of shops nearby and food was delicious. Good place to relax and near the capital by 5mins drive.
- Joann (10/5): Brunei - Overall great
- Doctoracupcake (4/5): Extremely basic and outdated - I stayed in a studio because I find it useful to have a kichenette which is of absolutely no use here, since they don't have cutlery or plates.
The room is ugly and basic, bed not too comfy, not dirty but not pristine clean. Bathroom is okay, but again, basic.
It's a little far away from the city center and almost impossible to get a cab in Brunei, so there's really no point in staying here.
I wouldn't come back.
- Nieves (8/5): - The hotel is just very near to the Omar Ali Mosque if you know the short cut to the bridge connecting to the mosque. You can go there on foot for only about 15min. They have friendly and helpful staff. The free breakfast is good and suite room is huge. We liked our stay there.
- Mawdud (8/5): Nice comfortable stay - My family enjoyed their stayed. Good value for money!
- MOHD HASBI (8/5): Value for money - Ideal location for my stay with eating and shopping places within walking distance.
- Nami (8/5): - Hotel staffs are VERY nice and friendly. Even though ever is no amenities at all, I could ask for hair dryer and adopter for battery charger.
Taxi was provided for 20 Brunei dolls to go to the north part of Brunei, which i thought is very convenient and cheep.
One thing I felt bet scary is that there were many stray dogs around the hotel. This may be the normal things in Brunei, but I wish I could feel safe to go out the night.
- K5802EYjohnk (6/5): Quite comfortable three star standard - Ok for three star. The bathrooms are a bit tired. the included breakfast is just a voucher for the café next door. The airport pick up service is pick up only - you need to pay yourself on the way back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No amenities on 1st day
- M.Kamal (6/5): - Staff are good, No amenities at all. No soap in the washroom, not even a bottle of water. No elevator, Had to carry the luggage through stairs
- 394pascall (6/5): What you pay is what you get - Very cheap in price therefore what you pay is what you get. Rooms are not as nice as the hallways. TV channels are horrible that even local channels are not clear. Curtains are cheap with lights coming in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Location - Most staff are generally nice. Just be careful and double confirm if making arrangements at reception as they may fail to explain to you some details and you end up paying more than what you expect. Location is good.
- nayzai (6/5): Average but pleasant - If you are short on cash this hotel would be perfect for you budget wise. Tho a bit mediocre but it does provide basic necessities such as air-conditioned room, a small cozy bathroom with heater and ours had a living room. Breakfast was at My Town Cafe (which is just beside the hotel) with few choices of breakfast sets. The downside of this hotel is that there is no elevator. I had few heavy luggage with me and had to walk up and down the stairs multiple times. It does suit backpackers tho. A very quaint hotel.
It is a walking distance to a bowling centre and also a walking distance to the town and we had a nice walk at night at the Eco-corridor Park.
- LuiSri (8/5): Perfectly priced - A wonderful start to our holiday adventure in Bandar.
Space, sensibly priced and more than adequate. Basic facilities, reasonable location plus laundry and quiet.
- LieTazial (4/5): Poor customer service and better to stay elsewhere - The hotel didnt provide a basic facility in a room. Room is just average, located in middle of shop lots with no view. TV channel are bad, staff are poorly trained. breakfast are next door coffee shop.
- svitlana (4/5): - The bathroom leaked, the room needed restoration, we found some insects. The breakfast was poor.
- Ejad (8/5): 10mins away from airport and nearby amenities. - The hotel is well accommodate with sharing kitchen, prayer room and laundry machine for the hotel guest to use. it is a pleasant stay indeed.
- Smiah14 (4/5): Something out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Luckily me and 3 friends only stayed here for one night. It seemed as if the hotel had provided us with the most run down, outdated room! as we had a peep in to the room next door and it looked like actual living conditions.
Our room had outdated furniture, broken furniture and sockets (safety?!). There was blood stains on the nets and curtains. The breakfast included was appalling a boiled egg which was not boiled?
The room had a horror movie feel to it! I would not be returning or recommending this hotel.
The only positive I would say is the staff were friendly but other than that avoid avoid.
- Rosanah (2/5): Disappointed - Never in my life had to be moved to 3 different rooms on first day of check-in! 1st room was under maintenance! 2nd room has a leaking from the ceiling, 3rd room was not our choice. Room looks old & smelly. Towels are thin & old. Other than that, shops & cafes are just round the corner. Regretted choosing this hotel. I’m sorry..
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok - Our experience with this hotel was ok. A bit far from the city
- John (6/5): Good location but room was tired - Room was very tired. Need serious attention to the quality of maintenance. Location is good
- SylvainL1621 (8/5): Correct - I stayed just for one night in a standard room. It was on the average, the room was clean, the mattress comfortable, good air-con. The staff was friendly, they answered me for many questions.
The location is not the best, a bit far away from the center and on Sunday you have to walk because they close the bridge for cars.
So if you need just one night for a good rest it’s perfect, but if you want to stay a bit more to discover the city, take something closer from the center
- Thai Muslim (10/5): Good. I'm very appreciated staying there. - Hotel replied me almost of my email before and after booking. During fixing bridge across the river to Sultan Ali aSaifuddin Mosque Area. We can use water taxi (boat) to downtown or kiangkeh market or Kampong Ayer. BND 1 / person / trip. Good experience. No need to wait for long.A few minute waiting.Lots of water taxi (boat) is looking for you too. Alhamdilillah
- Krista (4/5): Not very pleasant - The lobby and hallways are nice, then you walk into a depressing room with no decor, poorly painted walls, aged furniture, and a small bathroom with dirty faucet, a shower with a curtain that is too short so it let out water, and cracks in the tiles. I spent as little time as possible in the room. There are no toiletries either, but a cheap container of liquid soap. The location is ok, but not close enough to walk to downtown, so you definitely need a car or taxi to get anywhere. Overall, I would not recommend this place unless management improves the rooms
- Naim Omar (6/5): Okay but not okay. - Good breakfast provided (My Town Brunei). At first, exprienced unfunctioning air-conditioning. Have to wait one hour before it get fix. Room is spacious, but it's facilities seems too old school. Not to condemn, but Le Gallery need to do something to make it 'look' better.
- zatyA11 (2/5): Terrible service with rude staff - We arrived at the hotel late in the evening. When I asked to utilize the hotel's transportation to go to the night market, I was shocked to be informed that the DRIVER DOESN'T WORK AT NIGHT. Guests came to the hotel for various purposes and most of them would very likely to go to places of interest around the city. I was disappointed that night so we just took a taxi to the town which is very near but so expensive.
The next day, we wanted to go to the Royal Palace (Istana Nurul Iman) and had planned for the hotel's transportation to get us there, wait for a while and send us back to the hotel. I couldn't be more disappointed than ever when the receptionist informed me that the DRIVER ALSO DOESN'T WORK ON SUNDAY. What a big disappointment and set back as tourist came to the city anytime of the week. There is no use of preparing a hotel transportation when the guests can't even utilize them in need.
My bad experience didn't stop there. I was frustrated at first but there's really nothing that I can do, so it was okay. Nevertheless, one the female staff was kind of sneering at us and immediately I felt scorned like a beggar. Then the other staff suggested to just walk for 30 minutes to the palace sarcastically (like we don't have money). No one was giving other options (bus or taxi) as everyone was mocking us contemptuously, especially the female staff. She gave us an impudence and scornful look with an arrogant, boastful, insolent and obnoxious attitude.
For the others out there, don't come here. I repeat, DO NOT COME HERE. It was my worst experience ever in a very wonderful and decent country.
- azanov (6/5): Worth the money - The good part: room was nice, bed was nice, bathroom was clean, with a LCD TV, receptionist very friendly. Have free self laundry. Great location with Shops, eateries (jollibee, kfc etc), market (fresco) very nearby.
Other than that, climb 2 storey stairs. free pickup from airport BUT excluding Sundays (the driver also maybe dumb). Also, the door of a connecting room is so thin that u may even hear your next room whispering..
- GeeMaan (4/5): Bearable - The room was ok. Wall had water stains, kettle had some awful stuff in making it unusable. Room phone wasn't working. Neighbour room was loud and smoking. Bathroom had no soap and windows was unable to close. The only good things were the customer service, the comfortable bed, good tv and heated water. Surrounding area is not near town but still there was many shops
- Verified traveler (4/5): Rundown and Extremely Dirty - Though I had been somewhat braced due to the other reviews, I was still surprised by how filthy the room was. I am fine with a property being somewhat aged and run down - and at this budget point one can hardly expect better in Brunei - but I was taken aback by the condition of the bedroom and bathroom. This was one of those few places where a t-shirt went over the pillow and I slept pretty much dressed. Very disappointing and very avoidable! Also a long (20-25 minutes) and completely un-inspiring walk into the city center.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very disappointed - Terrible not the room that I booked and receptionist not very helpful but the housekeeper is better help. Because of my complaints and the hotel did refund a little tiny bit of money 20 dollars.
- redlady60 (4/5): Basic cheap accommodation - Le Gallery is located in a very rundown part of Bandar and quite a distance from the City centre which is difficult to access if you do not have a car. There is rubble from a building site at the end of the street. If you need transport to get to town ask the reception of call for a taxi - they are not available on the street. There are buses into town for $1 if you can locate the bus stop. Street maps are of very poor quality and almost impossible to use to get anywhere. Rooms are basic but you are paying a basic rate. Reception staff friendly and helpful and internet good. Room and bathroom could do with a good deep clean and furniture very ancient. No lift which wasn't a problem for me on first floor but could be for someone handicapped of wheelchair bound. Stayed one night only would not have like to stay longer.
- CikBungeMN (8/5): Great choice! - It was my 1st time in Brunei and I was looking for an accommodation nearby the city area within +/- 1km walking distance. I guess i made the right choice to stay here. The staff are all friendly, smile all the time, very helpful and I feel like i am staying at home. It was great. Restaurant is just beside this hotel, MyTown Eating House. The hotel deco is simple. The room is spacious enough for a solo traveller like me. I spend $174.00 for 4 days 3 nights stay here. Everything is fine for me except they don't have elevator to go up. It would be great if they could at least have one, I guess. Overall, i am satisfy. Thank you to all the staff who help me a lot to ensure i had a great time in Brunei.
- Muhamad (2/5): Not as expected. - Pay for 3 star rate hotel, browse some nice pictures in the catalogue, when looking for the hotel, it is hard to find. Once found, no elevator. Exterior nicely looking, inside the room terrible.
- cruisecontrol2016 (2/5): Poor service - The location of the hotel is quite near the city center that's why we chose the hotel. But the room is outdated and looks not maintained well because the walls of the room and the bathroom are dirty. The towel looks dirty too. The shower is not working well. We ask for service water and we were told there is no water available.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not going to this place again. - Not comfortable, room space too small,no condiments, not worth for money.
- miss_piaalba (4/5): Not 100% happy - Among the cheapest accommodations that I have found. It was indeed very basic. Though the internet connection was good, the reception people were friendly, I had a few comments about my room. First, toilet was leaking, not very clean and the heater wasn't functioning well. The sheets weren't very clean also. Noises on my last night was also unbearable. I almost missed my transport to the airport because I wasn't able to sleep very well on my last night. It seldom happens that I couldn't sleep and it happened over there. Must be bad. Anyway, what do I expect, It's basic.
- jojonic79 (6/5): Solid budget stay in an expensive city, but don't expect too much! - Very odd hotel. They seem to have spent a lot of money on making the corridors and communal areas look outstanding, but the rooms themselves are just yuck! We stayed three nights and wouldn't have stayed any longer. The beds were OK, but the rooms were in dire need of decoration and a good deep clean. They cleaned our room every day, which is nice, but we noticed they NEVER changed the sheets - bleugh! Would have been nice to have at least one change of sheets during our stay. Especially as there were a few suspicious stains on the sheets and pillows when we checked in!
Breakfast was next door in My Town. It was eggs and bread or eggs bread and beans! You get free tea and coffee but have to pay for anything else. You can top up the amount you pay and get a rice or noodles dish. the staff in My Town were lovely but they really undercook the eggs, so make sure you ask for hard boiled not half boiled.
Location would have been amazing but the pedestrian bridge to the mosque is out for the foreseeable, so you have to walk an extra 1km around the traffic bridge, which isn't great with little kids in the heat. There are literally no taxis around, and the busses are a little confusing. All in all not the worst stay ever, and for the price it was acceptable.
- nad (4/5): - Water heater not working, esp morning. Never refill coffee even staying more than 4 days. Lights not working, make the room dark. Toilet doors cannot lock and mosquito can come into the room.
- salvianam (2/5): Disappointed! - Stayed here after a late nite function. Room is a bit rundown. Not properly maintained and no lift too. Towels looks old. Its more like a motel than a hotel. Staff was not professional, extra towel or pillow is chargeable. Hope they upgrade, will not stay here anymore, other hotels are better at the same price range.
- han (6/5): Overall was good - Nice trip
- han (6/5): Overall was nice - Nice trip
- 161anasq (6/5): L gallery - No lift is available so if you are in a wheelchair then your life will be impossible.... Dray clear is close by and good supermarket is just around the corner. Furniture is old and very basic. Kitchen appliances are not provided nor any water complaints ..... Receptionists are very kind and helpful. Taxi can be called and it comes fast
- Bronson (6/5): Clean, quiet, no-frills yet enjoyable - A quick stay in Bandar Seri Begawan. Hotel was spartan yet clean, and we appreciated the very helpful hotel staff and the complimentary airport transfer.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap - Random location, was moved into a studio (which I'm not sure if it was better or worse) kettle, but no tea or coffee. TV channels didn't work.
Restaurant downstairs where yoy have breakfast was good.
Staff very helpful
- Jun (4/5): OK OK only.. - Just a standard budget hotel. Nothing more
- Jack (8/5): OK for short stay - Hotel looks good but it is a bit far from the downtown (have to cross the river in order to get to "CBD", either by walk, bus or water taxi, and in which the schedule of buses is notorious). The washroom is a bit small, but except that, teh hotel room is ok.
- Aurelie (8/5): I enjoyed this place. Good value for the price. - Very nice staff, clean and comfy rooms though the bathrooms (mine at least) are not as nice, quiet area, easy shortcut to bsb central through kampung ayer, breakfast is next door ($3 on the house but that place is super pricey)...
- Verified traveler (6/5): Real Basic - Surrounded by various restaurants in walking distance. Only d basic is given. They don't provide elevator. We had to climb up winding stairs to 2nd floor. The parking area is quite packed in day-time through the evening. There were some chaotic noises a few times coming in from the My Town rest below us late at night. So far the rest is good to average.
- Zulkafli (8/5): Good location and nice - Suite Room - very large
- Verified traveler (6/5): Simple room - There was nothing special about the room. It was clean and came with one bottle of water that had a greeting for you on it. The resteraunt next door had excellent food tho. It is a ten minute walk to down town so location was not bad.
