Jeffery (8/5): The cabin was comfortable and adequate for a weekend stay. Location/privacy would consider it again. - The location was beautiful and the staff we met was pleasant and helpful. There were no wall plug ins in either bedroom or bathroom of the cabin. We had to buy an extension cord to run power to these rooms to run our fan (no A/C) or to dry our hair etc.

James (9/5): The lodge is tidy, has excellent views and is well maintained, with supper alternatives to town. - The room was clean, spacious and we loved our deck. Bed was comfortable, temperature could be changed as needed. We loved looking at the lake and the second night we heard wolves howling. Not coyotes. We ate 2 dinners at the restaurant. The menu is small so they can do an excellent job on everything. We had wings and the walleye sandwich the first night and the walleye again and the bacon burger the next night. The walleye was so good I wanted another one the next night. My husband got the wings and first night and loved them, then the burger, which was also excellent. The bartender took great care of us and mixed excellent drinks.

Also the terrain to get to our room was not maintained well and was very tricky and hard to get to get luggage to and from the car to the room.

Rachel (10/5): - Beautiful place right on Garden Lake with access to the Boundary Waters! The motel had comfortable beds and a basic kitchen. My son and I borrowed a canoe for the day and had a beautiful, long paddle to BWCA. We also visited the Wolf Center, hiked, and had a great tour of the Poineer Mine. A very peaceful spot to come home to on our vacation— we hope to return!
Joy (8/5): Nice lake views from rustic cabin. - The location is great, the views of the lake and free access to the dock was fantastic. The staff was very nice and dealt with the few issues we did run into quickly. The cabins have so much potential, but in their current state have rustic church camp vibes. The bathroom was comically ugly. I’d stay here again though. The price was fair and the location and staff were great. But I hope they remodel and make this place the gem I know it could be
Yvonne (8/5): Little disappointed - The check in person Deb was not a friendly person. Other staff were real friendly. The room was clean, beds comfortable. We booked our stay on line with Hotels.com, with 3 nights in King bed and one night in double bed. When we arrived we ended up with 3 nights in double bed. Deb said it didn’t show the kind of rooms booked through Hotels.com, and the internet doesn’t work so well in that area so I couldn’t pull up my information. The 4th night we got a king room.. the view was pretty of the lake and it was an awesome room. We should have had this for 3 nights not one!! The cleaning staff do an awesome job!!
Anna (10/5): - I stayed in a motel room overlooking the lake prior to a trip into the Boundary Waters. A little nervous at the plain and aging exterior, I was pleasantly surprised with the renovated and very comfortable room. This property has a friendly, traditional resort vibe, with cabins, camper parking and the motel. The bar was still open on a rainy evening and they served my favorite Castle Danger on tap. I would love to visit this resort again!

The website has inaccurate descriptions of the property and the cabins.. there is no air-conditioning in any of the cabins despite what the website says. They exterior of the property and the dock area is way rundown.

Snook (7/5): Ok value for a place, needs maintenance - Great location. Good value. While I am ok with the fact that there was obvious signs of the place needing some maintenance, the suite we had was very musty. The air conditioner did not work. That was tough for us as we had been camping for days and one of the reasons I booked was to have that amenity. While the weather was relatively mild, it would have been nice to have had a working unit. When I spoke to the staff they were very indifferent to the fact it didn't work, and offered no accommodations to help such as a different room or to fix it. Based on the smell of the place, it had not been working for some time. Even a slight discount or apology would have been nice.
James (6/5): - Our sheets were wet/ very damp on the first night and we didn’t discover until it was too late and office closed. Told them in the morning. She said they would contact housekeeping. Went back hours later and the room/bed was not changed. Then we went back to the office and they handed us a bag of sheets to change ourselves. No apologies or oops, sorry that happened. Put us off. Bathroom door wouldn’t close. No crossbar in the closet to hang clothes. Has potential but could have been better. Cute fridge and microwave though!
Denise (3/5): - Location I know I booked a cabin, but I believe I was moved to the Motel...without consolidating me. I booked a cabin because I was traveling with an 87 year old, and a bigger person who doesn't sleep in a bed. The cabin had a chair that would have worked for her to sleep in. Instead, we were informed we were in the Motel that had mattresses too small for the frames and one very uncomfortable chair. It was a rough night, to say the least! At check-in, I did question why I was in the Motel... They claim they don't rent cabins for 1 night. Booking.com allowed me to book it. Then they kept telling me, "You have a lake view." As if I should appreciate that. I didn't care about a lake view, I needed everyone to be comfortable... and we were not! Funny, I rate this a 1 or 0...but it's doing the rating as well as a 3...ridiculous!

Lindsey (8/5): Fun place on a nice lake - The place was nice. Easy check in. We stayed in the motel part. Room was nice and the deck overlooking the lake was very good. Way went down to the bar and had diner and listened to the live music. It was a quick stay but we may be back with the kids.

Frances (6/5): disappointing - Location was a little outside of town, so quiet. The room was large and a great kingsize bed. Breakfast did not come with this room. It stated that there was a kitchen. However, there was only a microwave with a leg missing so I had to prop it up with a towel. Other than the microwave there was no way to cook food. The coffee maker did not work properly so the coffee did not drain into the coffee pot. It was not the correct size. I didn't realize until the grounds soaking in hot water started to over flow its holder. I had to hold the pot up so it pushed the release button for the coffee to drain in the pot. Unfortunately some grounds came with it. Advertised as a cabin. However, it was a room at the end of a building, like a motel.

Could not enjoy view or open windows due to heavy smokers being outside quite frequently. There are talks about this property being torn down this fall.
Yvonne (4/5): Lovely location, great staff, cabin needs work! - The location 0f the site was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. The cabin was old and poorly maintained, with a broken fridge. It wasn’t clean and there were only 2 outside chairs, even though the cabin was large enough for 8. Given that the location was everything, it was important to sit outside. No cleaning supplies available which we had to buy to feel ok staying there. Very disappointing compared to the pic’s and price!

Sara (6/5): Peaceful for the most part - We only talked with staff on the phone as by the time we got there and as to check out no one was there. It would have been nice to see and talk with someone in person. Beds were not comfortable. People next door were noisy late at night early morning. It was really light in our room as not much for room darkening. Loved having the option of having our dog with us

Charles (2/5): Never at that place again - The place was supposed to be cabin but was old motel , no a/c no tv one little fan in room. Never again was misarable in 89 degree weather
Celeste (2/5): - There was no hand soap in bathroom or ANY soap for that matter. It was very dusty and odorous. Their website claims amenities that are either non-existent or not working. There is no sauna, no restaurant, no homemade pizzas. It was so bad we did not stay our second night even though we paid for it. My husband is such a grace giving man, he asked me not to say anything to the attendant and simply thank her. So we did. Please update website. This was super disappointing and it could all be remedied. What awesome potential and prime location. I hope my feedback is used constructively.
Linda (3/5): Not good - Nice location. Upon arrival there was a very strong odor of sewage. This property was clearly, in the distant past, a very nice place. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that any upgrades or maintenance has been done since that time. The dock on farm lake only has one board in many places and is not safe to use. Would not stay here again or recommend.

Laura (2/5): Great location…. But would not recommend to anyone. - We had two rooms. One room was ok. The second room was not. The mattress was older and sagged in the middle. The pull out sofa was really hard to pull out and when we finally got it out, the mattress was dirty and springs were showing. It was dirty around the edge of the bed. We ended up blowing up an air mattress we had with us and using our own sleeping bags because there was no bedding for the pull out. Not sure how much cleaning was done because there was food left in the fridge from the last person staying there. There was no way to turn the thermostat down, so that room was super hot.

Carlene (2/5): Worn down lodging on beautiful lake. - Lake Carpet was disgusting. Advertised as kitchenette. One coffee cup no cookware. Brought groceries but had to go back out to get supper and and breakfast. Too expensive for what was provided.
Chris (3/5): Decent space but power was out for night and morning. - The location was good and staff friendly. The beds/furniture were past the 'worn' stage. The power went out in the late evening and a phone message was left for the office but no response. I visited the office in the morning but no one there.
Laura (10/5): - Loved the location by the lake, outside views were lovely. Inside of cabin was very neat, clean and comfortable. Outside of cabin was rustic and showed a lot of weather wear but did not affect the inside ambiance.
Carrie (6/5): - they advertise Internet, but there is no Internet in the rooms. They should clearly state that. They could easily update the furniture and carpeting in the rooms. Also the steps leading down to the bottom level of the building needs to be replaced for safety reasons.

Verified traveler (2/5): Never Again - The pictures of the room showed a stove and full size refrigerator -- the reality is a small refrigerator and no stove. The carpet was peeling up from the floor and we were lucky it wasn't hot out because the air conditioner is missing the control knob. There is no wifi, no TV and no landline in the room. Some of their docks were partially submerged and very difficult to traverse from shore. There are campsites almost right outside the door of the room and no soundproofing -- you can hear everything in the rooms next door and outside. The drop ceiling is in pretty rough shape and virtually zero water pressure in the shower. Will not stay here again.

Kristin (10/5): - Beautiful stay. Cabins look like they are straight out of the 1970s which I thought added a nice touch to it. Appliances all worked well and was comfy. Very clean inside, and the area around it was really beautiful. We will most likely be back as we go up north to Minnesota once or more times a year.
Scott (2/5): Bumped room - I was reserving a cabin not a motel room. When I made my reservation they sent me a picture of the cabin I reserved. When I got there they said oh no they only have a room in the motel. I said that was not what I reserved! I strongly believed that they bumped us to the motel room for a better reservation. That ticked me off. We heard the people upstairs all 3 nights!

Linda (7/5): Enjoyable, quiet area - Quiet area. Easy access from highway. Beautiful scenery We had to go to a lower level to reach our room. The step area was not well lit for after dark. Front of lower apartments were not well lit either. Parking was sub optimal -crowded.

The docks are in need of repairs or replacement. But i also understand getting to that can be difficult and pricey. I hope they can redo them soon! Otherwise we certainly would LOVE to come again. Maybe bring the kids when they are older also.
Janell (4/5): - Unfortunately the property quality was not what was presented in the booking. The room had visible stains on the floor, no AC, very dated (rusty and broken) appliances. The couch had a piece of plywood to give it stability to sit on. Not that it’s necessary, but disclose it, there was no TV in the room either. We stayed on a rainy weekend and left the property early. Very uncomfortable.
