Guest Reviews
- Brian (10/5): - Nice quiet place great breakfast friendly owners
- Rachel (8/5): Location and breakfast! - Location and breakfast were excellent. Pool, hot tub and game room kept the kids entertained. Needs a deep clean.
- Margaret (10/5): Stay here!! - My kids and I had a blast at the Old Field House. Rod and Linea have put a lot of thought into the details - the hot breakfast, the pool towels, the game room, the fire pit with s’mores in the evenings… This is such a cute little property that’s close enough to everything to be convenient but far enough away to afford the peace and quiet we all seek on vacation. We hope to visit again!
- Marion (10/5): - Very clean comfortable place to stay. Owners are very welcoming.
- Gayle (10/5): - A lovely small Inn that feels more like a B&B. The rooms are extremely clean, quiet and comfortable. The couple that (owns?) and manages are warm and welcoming. The breakfast options are made on property and are delicious. Best blueberry Belgium waffles-- ever!!!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Already planning my third stay! - My daughter, granddaughter, and I stayed at the Old Field House last year and liked it so much that we came back this year. Rod and Linea are wonderful hosts, and Rod makes the best breakfasts ever. You have to try his made-to-order waffles with your choice of blueberries, chocolate chips, and/or bananas.
You'll love the Old Field House if you value an old-time feeling of comfort and tradition, much like you'd find at a beloved summer home that has been in the same family for generations. There's a hot tub and indoor swimming pool that my granddaughter loves, hammocks under the trees, bird feeders that attract hummingbirds outside the atrium breakfast room, and a campfire with s'mores at night.
Although you feel as though you're out in the country (or, I should say, in the mountains), the inn is close to North Conway, StoryLand, and not too far from Santa's Village, where we went this year. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity. Rod and Linea feel like family now, and we're already looking forward to next year!
- Barbara (10/5): - Rod and Linea were such nice hosts and my grandchildren (ages 10 and 11) loved the pool, game room and fire pit with s'mores. They room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. We'll go back sometime!
- Jeniffer (6/5): - Breakfast very good
- Beth (10/5): - Quaint place, everyone very friendly and breakfast waffles are wonderful.
- Larry (10/5): Comfort in the Mountains - From the easy check-in, the welcoming owners, the comfortable room, the delicious waffles at breakfast, to the easy check-out...everything was great! We had a lovely stay at Old Field House and would recommend this establishment!
- Julian (10/5): - Chiming bread & breakfast very close Peter Limmer & Sons hiking boots company and steak house across the street.
- Hollie (10/5): - Really great place to stay, excellent breakfast, welcoming staff, large room, very clean.
- DENISE (10/5): - Rod and Linea were awesome hosts. Had our 5 yr old grandson and he LOVED the pool, game room and basketball court and we all loved the breakfast!
- Jonathan (10/5): - It was clean, the owners are friendly, there was a yummy breakfast in the morning and it’s within walking distance to a restaurant and a brewery.
- Joshua (10/5): - Unbelievably freiendly owners and amazing breakfast!
- Zyxw (6/5): - With the kindness and generosity of the owners, it's easy to overlook some of the small issues at the establishment. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and would consider going back again. However, there were a few areas that could be improved.
Firstly, the walls were quite thin, which resulted in some noise disturbances. Additionally, the mattresses seemed to be outdated and not very comfortable. It would be beneficial for the owners to consider investing in newer mattresses for better guest comfort.
Furthermore, the small freezer in the room didn't seem to be functioning properly, which was a bit disappointing. It would be great if this issue could be addressed to ensure that guests can have access to a fully functioning freezer.
Another concern was the presence of a rust-like smell, which seemed to affect the air quality. It is possible that the air conditioner filters may need to be changed or the ventilation system inspected. This would greatly improve the overall ambiance and guest experience.
On a positive note, I must mention that breakfast was absolutely delightful. The quality and selection of food were excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
In conclusion, while there were some minor issues during my stay, the hospitality and kindness of the owners overshadowed them. I appreciate their efforts and would recommend the establishment.
- Ginny (10/5): - We had a great stay and everyone was very friendly and helpful
- SHOUSONG (10/5): - Owner couple are super nice and staying here with an excellent family atmosphere! Home made waffles in the breakfast are super delicious!
- Jessica (10/5): - This place had very friendly owners and some great amenities including a fire pit with s’mores in the evenings, full breakfast every morning from 7-10 with made to order waffles, a hot tub, and other nice touches. Right across the street from a great restaurant and convenient location for hiking the Whites. Would definitely stay again. Room are a little older but spacious, and there was a bear making a ruckus outside in the dumpster the first night when we left our windows open (recommend sleeping with them closed unless you want to wake up around 3 am).
- Melissa (8/5): - Cheap, good location and friendly owners! This is very cozy if your not too picky
- allan (10/5): - The owners are fantastic
- Sarah (10/5): - We had a fabulous time. The owners are very welcoming, there was lots to do, breakfast was delicious. We hope to make this an annual trip.
- Atmaja (10/5): Excellent warm family like B&B - For the first time a bed and breakfast felt like home and it is also due to the lovely couple running it with their adorable dog Nana. We felt like we were saying goodbye to family while leaving and my 10yr old son promised to return in Fall!
- Lisa (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much. If your looking for a friendly quite place this is it. Dated but very homey feeling so if your looking for new and modern definitely not the place. Best breakfast ever.....
- James (10/5): - Great breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would stay again - Delicious breakfast, hospitable hosts, a fluffy dog, ping-pong, air hockey, and foozball, free XC ski passes. Afternoon hot tea. Close to N. Conway, Jackson, Black, and Attitash. Small room but the four of us made do. Incredibly quiet. Easy walk to dinner at Tuckerman’s.
- Corinne (10/5): - The outdoor hot tub and heated pool were a hit. The game room downstairs had an abundance of games and was fun for the kids. Waffles made to order for breakfast were delicious. Nana the dog was a friendly addition.
- William (10/5): - Great breakfast and the owners are great! Loved it!
- John (8/5): - The owners are fantastic people. The breakfast blueberry waffles are the best. The property is past its prime, needs lots of investment for restoration to 4 or 5 star condition.
- Sidan (10/5): - Great breakfast!
- Justus Valentijn (10/5): - Rod & Linea are the nicest and most helpful proprietors of this very cosy B&B. Terrific breakfast w delicious loaded waffles, lots of chipmunks and birds around, comfy room w bath, and lovely hot tub and 85' pool. Close to many bars and restaurants and lovely hiking. We'll come again!!!
- Robb (8/5): - We loved the property, just needs a little tidying up around the area. Rod & Linea are fantastic inn keepers. The best waffles, hands down, especially Rod’s Banana Waffles! We absolutely loved sitting at breakfast watching the many different species of birds enjoying themselves. Oh, we can’t forget to mention, Nana, the welcoming Alaskan Malamute, she’s absolutely the most chilled dog!
- Erik (10/5): Breakfast was incredible - Really enjoyed our stay. Nana was an super host. The breakfast was amazing.
- Mary Jane (8/5): Old Field House. - Food was great, staff was super friendly, room was comfortable, bed was one the best i slept in a long time. Very quaint Inn what i expected to find in New Hampshire.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The old field house was unlike any place ive ever stayed. First- we were greeted by Nana, the house dog: such a love. The owners were very pleasant, always available, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The building is very cozy and homey. Our room was clean, and spacious enough. The king bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was your usual choices (cereals, fruit, toast, eggs, sausage and different types of waffles.) Good quality and tasty. Their game room was my favorite part. Felt like youre in your Grandmas living room. Cozy with board games, sofa, fire place. The jacuzzi is outdoors.
Only negative for us was the pool. Its "indoor" but its really in a seperate tin barn which is not heated. The water was plenty warm, but it was 20 degrees out when we went so it was just too cold for us to enjoy. Though we did go in for a half hour which was all the time we needed to fill anyway.
- Archid (10/5): - Great location close to both Attitash and Wildcat.
Friendly owners and their dog Nana. Great breakfast. lots of board games, books, DVDs and, ping pong table.
We didn't have a chance to use them but they even have heated pool and hot tub. We would like to come back in the future.
- Nirmal Kumar (10/5): Fabulous - It was a really comfortable stay. A homely place near to the white mountain. Couldn’t have asked for more.
- Stewart (8/5): - Very friendly and welcoming
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was very nice .Service is good, property was clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast to order. Room was a little musty. Overall good experience
- Jake (6/5): - Clean but the facility needs to be updated.( Looks like the 1980's). Breakfast was nothing special ( scrambled eggs, sausages, fruit, cereal, etc) provided. Owners were very nice and helpful.
- H (6/5): - Honestly it was clean and cute. Like being at grandmas house. However beds were super uncomfortable and flat pillows were terrible. The power outlets need replacing in our room because nothing would stay plugged in.
- Ariel (10/5): - The staff os super nice
The place is traditional designed
Clean and comfort
The breakfest is great .
They have great hot tub and warm pool
- Bethany (8/5): - Friendly staff.
Clean room. Breakfast was a bit crowded but good. Only one night stay so did not explore the grounds/pool, but very close to attractions and an overall pleasant stay
- Nancy (10/5): The Old Homestead - This is our third year taking our 2 grandchildren (3 and 5) and their parents to StoryLand, and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. The Old Field House is a very comfortable, family friendly, and welcoming place to be, and we love our return visits. The proprietors couldn't be more accommodating to our rooming needs and are always accessible to answer questions, make suggestions, or just chat. They genuinely care about their clients. The daily breakfasts are amazing, and the nightly samores around the fire pit are inviting--along with the swimming pool and the hot tub. This is not a modern hotel. It's full of well-loved furniture, lots of stuffed animals, a downstairs game room (ping-pong, air hockey, etc.), and a movie room packed with kid/adult CDs. Describing words: clean, cozy, comfortable, welcoming, friendly, accommodating, family fabulous.
- LindaB (8/5): - The place was tired. Our room was nice. The breakfast cook was great. Blueberry waffles are delicious!
- Hassan (10/5): - I reserved two queen beds for myself, my wife, and our three children and when the receptionist saw three children, she offered a small foldable bed for free. The service was exceptional and the free breakfast was just like a royal breakfast with hot waffles, eggs, sausage. We swam in the pool and used the outside jacuzzi till 10pm and the whole family enjoyed them. It was a very relaxing night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Warm friendly staff. Great waffles for breakfast, hot tub, pool, movie room, games... it's a great place.
- Ed (8/5): Nice family Inn! - Innkeepers were fantastic! Being a bed and breakfast you get a room and a bath, small but nice. But, when the kids are out of school, there is noise and plenty of it. Every day there were kids running up and down the hallway at like 7:00 and at night we even had some knocking on the door (wrong room thing). Great breakfast there and a fantastic restaurant right across the street, Tuckerman's. Overall, this really is a nice friendly and clean place to stay with kids. I would go back again but I would probably do it when the kids are in school or look for somewhere a tad quieter. I think it is in one of the better locations right in between North Conway and Jackson.
- Diana (8/5): Nice place - Our stay was good, should have double checked on TV's in rooms, but in the end it worked out. Breakfasts were good.
- Mary (10/5): - Very friendly and very clean. The setting is perfect and the breakfast was FANTASTIC!
- dave (6/5): pretty basic - basic slightly run down accommodation. good spot in the park though and a great tavern across the road.
- D and L (8/5): - Small but adequate room. Quiet location and well situated. Restaurant within walking distance. Rooms and building need refreshing and updating. Plenty of breakfast.
