David (4/5): This is not Relais & Chateau quality - Its location. One of the staff , Sarah , among the food staff was excellent. It is in need of renovation and maintenance. The breakfast and the service was really disappointing. A buffet service would be an improvement. Lack of a Bistro level eating offer.

Amazing food :-) If anything, the right side of our bed. It was not stable and it gave the felling we were falling. We told this to the receptionist after the first night. I guess/hope this will be solved soon.

We could not manage all the breakfast so we were given a take out bag of croissants which was very much appreciated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The grounds are impeccable. Room could have been prepared for night while we were having supper. Not a major complaint.

Fabulous and spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms. Caring, competent and welcoming staff. The evening meal is expensive but a special experience.
WorldNavigators (10/5): An amazing Chateau experience - we received a very warm and personal welcome the check-in was very fluent and the receptionist joined us to the room and carried our bag. we received a detailed show around of the room to point out all the interesting things the room was very spacious, I think we had a suite and was typically decorated to get an ancient chateau feeling. we had a very good night, very good mattress, which is of course very personal the Château de Courcelles has also a gastronomic restaurant, called La Table de Courcelles. We had a nice table in the orangerie although we would have loved to have a table in the chateau part of the restaurant to get the ancient feeling again. The cuisine was very good, high standard, and was upto our expectations for a 1* Michelin restaurant. As we always love the breakfast part of our hotel stay, we were looking forward to our breakfast experience. We were welcomed by the breakfast lady and shown to our table where everything was brought to our table. A magnificent rollaway was brought to us with their local viennoiserie (croissants, etc...) freshly baked. Unfortunately we had to leave as we only stayed one night, but we will definitely be back.

O restaurante superou as minhas expectativas, sendo um Michelin que é um diferencial enorme de estar logo dentro da hospedagem. Café da manhã excelente e você andando no Jardim é uma volta ao tempo da época da aristocracia e realeza. Já sabíamos que não tinha elevador, conforme esperado em um castelo preservado, mas apenas pedir ajuda com suas malas que a recepção ajudará prontamente. O Château é um pouco distante da cidade, mas procure ir durante o dia que é uma excelente oportunidade de conhecer as paisagens de champagne e os vilarejos próximos.
Graham (4/5): All show, no substance. - The room was small, tired, dated and very cold. We booked the Michelin Star restaurant for our 40th anniversary dinner. What a disappointment. We booked the table for 7.30 and were taken through to a snug where we were offered drinks and menus. We were with another couple who were taken through to the dining room by a member of staff, We agreed on the tasting menu. Unfortunately there wasn’t a wine flight with the tasting menu but the sommelier said he would organise something. We had some appetisers and finished our drinks and waited for a member of staff to take us through to the dining room, and waited. At 8.30 I walked through to the dining area to find what was going on. We had waited so long we contemplated just going back to our room and calling it a night. The waiter explained he was waiting for us. No apology. That was the way they ran service. Why book a table for 7.30 if you were going to sit in a snug for an hour? I believe we had been forgotten. The food we had did not merit a star. Very acidic. Nice to look at, but really strange combinations. The next day on leaving we explained our issues and were met with indifference. It was explained we don’t like to rush people through and we like the customer to enjoy their drinks as they have a policy of not taking drinks through to the dining room. Again no apology. The Manager did not seem to understand that you only get one 40th wedding anniversary. We will definitely not be returning.

Catherine (6/5): We're glad we had the opportunity to try this place, but we won't be returning due to cleanliness concerns. Give - The property has a unique charm and is beautiful. The restaurant offered a delightful dining experience, and the Michelin-starred service was truly exceptional. While the location or amenities may be acceptable, cleanliness was a major issue during my stay. I found a blood stain on the pillow, hair on the bed sheets and in the shower, and noticeable mold in the bathroom. The property appears to be in need of both better cleaning practices and some maintenance. Improvements in these areas are definitely needed.

Tatjana (6/5): Still beautiful, but declining - We love the place as a last highlight on our returns from Brittany or GB since nearly twenty years. The rooms in the Chateau are extraordinary in style and details, if you want to feel as prince and princess. In the Restaurant we learned a lot about Champagner - not only as an Aperitif but as a wonderful companion for a whole menu. With our last stay, we feel these days are gone. The Chateau is still very beautiful and outstanding and I can and always would accept after so many years fading colors and materials in sitting areas and showers with hints of age, hadn't been the last experience. Remember, we love that place. What really disappointed us on our last stay was that the sommelier in charge in the Michelin grated Restaurant told us (and totally puzzled us) that, the from us chosen Blanc de noirs Brut Tradition de Julien Chopin has a dosage of 18 and is made of pinot noir and pinot meunier and so would fit our need of an dry Champagne. As only lovers of Champagne we still accept the superior knowledge of a sommelier in a Michelin Restaurant. So we did not revolt on the spot, but were puzzled. So puzzled to ask the internet when in bed and letting the management know in the next morning about the sommeliers fail. As "feedback" we got "Thank you for informing us and have a nice trip home". Even if one could claim "well, where is your problem, the champagne's taste was dry" we still feel uncomfortable and unrespected as again and again returning guests getting an evening "your problem, if you get puzzled about misinformations on details as Grapes and dosage by a sommelier". So I fear, we lost a place.

Eric (9/5): It was our fourth visit - and we loved it again! - The grounds are wonderful - perfect for dog runs both on the lawns and in the forest. The room was generously proportioned and comfortable. The breakfast was good, but the service was slow. The dinner was very good with, among other items, a marvelous chicken and beautiful cod with a raspberry sauce.

ronnie (6/5): Disappointing. - This was my third visit to the Chateau, and i really was hoping things might have improved given its new Michelin starred status! The charming hotel has bags of character, beautiful grounds, an abundance of staff whom speak a number of languages, are super attentive, and knowledgeable . A sensational sommelier. Amazing wine list. A menu that reads well, with great ethics regarding where the chef sources his ingredients. The greeting is very pleasant, and there is always a very sweet treat and a lovely welcoming note in the rooms. The beds are very comfortable. Sadly the very expensive ,dated rooms are tired, and not as clean as they could be. If you are used to Michelin starred restaurants as i am , i would NOT advise going to Courcelles for this reason alone! The over priced ,mostly pretty food ,on the whole( but not entirely ) fails to deliver on flavour! Whilst you expect a little culinary magic and a few unusual combinations in a starred restaurant,there are dishes on the menu that are quite frankly a little unpleasant! The restaurant that "requires an elegant dress code" with an emphasis on sophisticated attire! really has no boundaries that are clear when dining ,surrounded by unpressed shirts, jeans and pumps! aside from the lack of sports gear, flip flips and shorts, no one seems to care! And as a result of so many irritations ,its the first time ive made my excuses and left a restaurant mid menu! yes really! Breakfast which was once a large buffet , where you could boil your own egg, graze on cold salmon, yogurts, and cheeses (that the previous evening you would have paid a sizeable surcharge for ), is now a pre plated and minuscule offering! leaving you googling the nearest fuel station! And finally to have them try and charge me 100 euros for a bottle of wine sold as 60 euros! Outrageous!

Barry (8/5): Historic and beautiful Chateau in extensive grounds. Slightly tainted by a bad experience in their - mainly superb resta - The historical aura. The grounds were amazing. Slight musty smell. Some of the outside was badly maintained - mainly the entrance doors. We ate at their Michelin starred restaurant. My wife is vegetarian and they had a veggie menu - which was really good. Unfortunately the main course was inedible. A huge pile of uncooked pasta with a tomato sauce. It was dreadful. So sent it back - no response from the kitchen. We eat at Michelin restaurants regularly - plus I owned a French restaurant. I must say that this was the worst dish I have ever tasted in my life Michelin restaurant.

Austin (3/5): Restaurant service very poor …this is a top restaurant and should be run like clockwork …attention to detail …a good res - Beautiful setting Very slow service …it seemed we were invisible in the restaurant ….arrived in the restaurant 7:30pm with only one other couple and left at 10:30pm last but one couple …as the restaurant filled up we were left looking at each other for 45mins after querying staff and having to ask reception if they could assist ….we were much looking forward to this and were so angry the whole evening was spoilt….staff did apologise and offered complimentary drinks but the damage was done ..the evening ruined for us. This poor service started on our arrival at the hotel about 5:30pm and proceeded to an empty outside lounge area to relax , unwind and have a glass of wine…quite quickly drinks were ordered ….we waited 15mins …no drinks …then the restaurant manager arrived and was surprised to find we were waiting for drinks so he disappeared to supposedly sort the delay out…so after 10mins the drinks arrived …so not a good start to our stay. On checking out requested a meeting to discuss the issue of the previous evening thinking someone in authority would be interested to look into our issue …however to our dismay instead of trying to put things and offer us some recompense we were met with ( you were offered complimentary drinks ) so that’s it .

The chef and the restaurant make this a required food destination for those who want a memorable culinary experience. This has been one of the most delightful and enjoyable trips I have taken. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff, who made me feel at home from the start.

Everything, especially the history, is fabulous, but the food elevates the experience to an out-of-body experience. The staff is incredible, and I really appreciated the tour and the appreciation for so much history at the chateau.
Tim (10/5): It was an absolutely wonderful stay and we will definitely stay there again. - The chateau was excellent. The staff were superb, they helped us with anything and everything we needed in a very kind manner. The food at the restaurant is excellent. It may not have a Michelin star yet, but it is certainly on it's way to achieving one. The bed was absolutely wonderful for sleeping and the grounds were great for walking our dog. About the only thing we would have liked better would have been a trash bin or two outside so that we could dispose of picking up after our dog. The staff were very nice about accepting our plastic bag of waste, but we really don't feel like they should have to do that.

Helen (9/5): A very enjoyable stay - The chateau is conveniently situated between Reims and Soissons so an ideal stopping point if travelling across France from east to west or vice versa. It is situated in a small historic village. The staff gave us a short tour of the chateau outlining its long history and walks around its grounds. Our room was full of character in keeping with the chateau and had all the facilities we needed. The food was excellent although somewhat expensive. We didn't dislike anything.

Prices were high and food was pleasant enough. Breakfast was table service only and quite awkward. Overall more Fawlty Towers than haute cuisine. Quite relieved we only stayed one night

Philippa (2/5): Do not stay here - you will be disappointed!!! - Beautiful building and grounds but that’s all..☹️ The room was unclean - the carpet was threadbare and a trip hazard, the shower was literally disgusting- black mould in every corner and smelled terrible. The bed was badly put together two singles so very uncomfortable for a couple. Also the hotel had no alternative to a full complex restaurant Michelin style menu so if you’re there more than one night the nearest bistro is 35 minutes drive as they have no simple bar menu as an alternative if all you fancy is a light meal and the staff are not interested in providing anyone other than a ‘Gallic shrug’ - could not possibly recommend to anyone - two nights were over a thousand euros for a very poor experience…
susancF6273ZD (10/5): Wonderful stay in this beautiful historic property plus the best meal of our lives! - What a beautiful property! We splurged to stay here for just one night near the end of two weeks of travel in France, Belgium and the Netherlands and it was the perfect last hurrah to a great trip. We were worried this place might be on the stuffy/pretentious side, but the staff were all super friendly and helpful. Rooms are beautifully decorated with modern bathrooms. No A/C though which wasn’t a problem as it was still cool in early July and we were happy to sleep with the windows open. We had dinner onsite (5 course meal with wine pairings) which again, was a big splurge, but it was perhaps the best meal we’ve ever had so worth every penny. The grounds are lovely to walk around and bikes are available to use on the property or to check out the adjacent town. Beautiful heated pool on site as well. Delicious breakfast the next morning included in the rate as well. We would highly recommend staying here!
Robin (7/5): Great hotel but not good enough for the price. - Beautiful location, very helpful staff, some good facilities Put on top floor, no lift and my wife struggles with steep stairs. Restaurant service was very slow both dinner and breakfast. Seemed loads of staff but food took ages to arrive.

Peter (7/5): Good - We had 2 very good evening meals in the restaurant. waiting staff were excellent. Good rooms in the main building to sit and read or have pre-dinner drinks. Walks in woods were pleasant. We expected a room in the main house. in any case, our booking promised a terrace off our room and there was none and no options to change. The room was not well lit and needs modernisation. Our room was not cleaned properly during our stay - the rubbish remained in the bin; carpet were not vacuumed. it would be nice to have a proper bar area in the main building
sjuk28 (10/5): Super - One of the nicest traditional properties we have stopped in. In context we have been coming to France for many years now and visited quite a few Chateau… this is a great surprise. If you like all things modern and large plates of mediocre food then stay away. If you enjoy a traditional experience in a marvellous building with splendid French service then this will be for you. Royal Suite was an exceptional room and just as expected from the website.

Michael (10/5): Very comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings - We were very warmly welcomed at the Chateau by the friendly staff who kindly carried our cases up the winding stairs to a very comfortable spacious room. Despite the age of the Chateau the room had all the 'mod-cons' one hopes for these days. The bathroom had both a lovely outsized bath and a separate rain shower with good water pressure and modern fittings. The bed was a large king size with very comfortable mattress and pillows. There was also plenty of storage for clothes if we needed it for a longer stay. Nice touches included a Nespresso coffee machine and hope make cake on arrival. We also booked for dinner and the restaurant was particularly beautiful and staffed by very knowledgeable and helpful staff. The set menu for 4 courses at 90 euros was good value for money and fine dining at its best. Congratulations to Chef Benjamin Collombat and his brigade.

Only 20 rooms available with full amenities, bath tub, shower room, swimming pool. However, you can access by car or private chauffeur only and besides pool and dining, there is no spa, gym or activities arrangement.
Jg (10/5): Be transported to a place of beauty, romance and glamour in the exquisite 17th century Chateau - Where do I begin? From the moment we arrived to the aperitives in a selection of beautiful rooms, being swept up from there to enjoy world class dinners in the dining room, stroll in beautiful romantic gardens, farewell bakes we received from the kitchen and well wishes, the service was attentive, polite, just exceptional! The attention to detail in recommendations and planning our stay is also much much more, at a standard well beyond the ordinary. We were blown away by all the wonderful people at the chateau, we become quite fond of them. It really has a special place in our memory now, especially celebrating our wedding anniversary. The 17th century property is exquisite, absolutely beautiful, glamorous, original, it was a dream to spend 4 nights at the Chateau on a large beautiful property, transported to another place. Nothing much, we quite like being away from Reims (30m drive) in a village location, just maybe if the hotel can install a small luggage lift and also leave the hallway lights on at night to safe guests fumbling for the timed switch, will just be the cherry on top.

Lucy (6/5): Pleasant - The chateau was beutiful rooms and gardens It was to expencive , we had dinner the first night and the prices for the food you got were extorcionate !! 60e for the smallest piece of t bone you have ever seen ! 20e for an aperol spritz!! The second night we had to travel nearly 1h for dinner as we was not going to pay those prices again. We paid nearly as much on the dinner than we did on the room way to overpriced !!!!
Fiona (10/5): Fantastic rural quiet location. Very friendly helpful staff and amazing food. Expensive but worth it - The food was out of this world. The staff went over and beyond. The location was quiet - its a bit out in the country which was what we wanted. The outdoor pool was heated - which was good as we went in October and it was very clean. The grounds are stunning. Very romantic if thats what you are looking for. Ther was nothing that could be improved. We stayed in a standard room which was comfortable but will pay the extra next time for a bigger room - and there are some great choices of rooms if you pay extra.

businesstravelerdxb (4/5): Greatness falling short ! - The hotel location is good if you are looking for a stop over driving back from the Uk. The hotel grounds are beautiful, very dog friendly as your 4 legged companions can run around and go for a nice walk around the forest. However, the charge for 1 dog is 45 EUR which is certainly the highest charge I’ve paid. Now, that’s when things start to get a bit awkward. The property advertised that they have car electric charging facilities . It’s actually not true. They let you plug your car to their mains, that is if you have your own cable to do so. Booked a room and a 5 course dinner with wine pairing. A decision which was driven by the advertised “Gastronomic Experience at a Gastronomic Fine Dinning Restaurant”. A bit like the car charger situation, the restaurant fell short. Let’s say it is a restaurant but struggled to find the “gastronomy” in it. The food was genuinely below average, to the extent that out of 5 courses, I’ve not eaten 4 of them (not worth the calories). The wines were average quality and didn’t come in sequence. I believe their concept of pairing was to serve you something, with something and hope for the best. Had a cocktail to start with as an aperitif. The house cocktail , with grapefruit juice, crème de cassis topped up with champagne. The result was some grapefruit juice a bit of crème de cassis top up with flat bottom of the bottle champagne. The cocktail was not good ! However, the fact that the cocktail was at 20 EUR , it made it even harder to swallow the beverage. I think this hotel did the big mistake of rising customer’s expectations with false advertising, get them to come, with no other options around , live the experience, how mediocre it can be, then leave . I know it’s a bit harsh! I must say, they’ve apologised, and they were so kind to offer us 2 glasses of champagne at 7:30AM before we got behind the wheels to drive off ;) . I smiled and declined, reminding them that drinking and driving is not what I would call “a match made in heaven”. To conclude, save your money and time . For similar or few EUR extra you can have a much agréable experience at Chateau Beaulieu near Calais.
