Walkable to good restaurants, shops & sites. This will be our hotel of choice next we visit Malacca. You should make it yours too. None at all

• Yihe (10/5): Every aspect is great. We had a great stay. - Location: right on Jonker Street. Walkable distance to main attractions. So convenient Room: very clean and of decent size considering the price paid. AC was turned on before we arrived which is so nice that it’s comfortably cool already as we entered the room. • jasmin (9/5): The room was cmfortable and sufficient for a night’s stay or two for us.It had most of the amenities we needed (no iron - The location was right on Jonker street with easy walking access to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. I loved the vibrant night market on weekends and how it was all right at my doorstep. It didn’t have its own parking, but it does have a recommended parking lot and they will refund our parking fee at checkout if parked there. You also need to go up a flight of stairs to the lobby and rooms (same floor as lobby) so heavy bags aren’t recommended.

• Eva (9/5): Estancia en familia - El hotel está espectacularmente ubicado en toda la calle del mercado. Recomiendo ir en fin de semana que es cuando tiene más ambiente Melaka. La habitación muy limpia y cómoda . Lo malo es que tengas suerte y no te toquen huéspedes que hagan mucho ruido porque se oye todo. Los otros huéspedes no respetan el sueño, se escuchan todos los portazos . Y el personal del aseo a las 7 de la mañana limpiando habitaciones y es imposible dormir

• PETER ANTHONY (8/5): - The term 'boutique' has to be the most inappropriately used in the travel industry. It is certainly not the first word I thought of when I arrived at Fomecs. But the place grew on me with time. Essentially, it is a reception and 18 rooms - nothing more. For those who have visited Spain, this is a basic hostal, with nothing in the least boutique about it - at least in my understanding of the word. On the positive side, it was clean, safe and very quiet. The room and bathroom were large, and the air conditioning worked. Cleaning was on request. The pricing was appropriate for what was provided, hence my rating. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Surely a 'boutique' hotel would be expected to have an in-room safe? Don't be overly impressed by the closeness to the Jonker street market, which is dominated by an abundance of cheap trinkets and an overpowering smell of durian.

• Goh (9/5): Fantastic location with lots of things to engage your senses - Great location with Jonker street market (Fri-Sun fr 730pm to 10+) just downstairs. Family Mart is next door together with lots of restaurants, eateries to suit everyone's budget. Outside of Fomecs is the performing stage with nightly entertainment during the 3 nights street market. It is also within walking distance to almost all the attractions. The neighbourhood is an interesting one to explore some of the vanishing trades eg. making of Peranakan beaded shoes, huge signboards with Chinese characters etc. Highly recommended. TV channels are too few. Would be great if can in some foreign news channels like NHK, DW, CNN etc

• Sally (8/5): Great Location for Jonker Street - Nice little hotel, excellent location at the start of Jonker Street (though be aware the market is only at weekends and some shops and restaurants may be shut in the week. No window room but clean and comfy. Please note there is no lift and lots of stairs from the street to the lobby if you have heavy luggage. We were woken very early by a cleaner blasting out music in the corridor but apart from that had a great stay.

• suzanne (10/5): Great hotel in heart of Jonker street - The location was excellent! Walked out of hotel and literally in Jonker street where everything happens! Vibrant, full of atmosphere on the street with delicious local food and bustling with people until later into the night. The hotel offered a comfortable and safe place to stay. Staff were very friendly always smiling and helpful. Room was very adequate. Toiletries and toothbrushes/comb/razor all provided. We were fine, but if you had children/buggies or had a physical disability, entering the hotel as in order to reach reception you have to climb about 26 steps. The stairs were wide and clean, but no lift at hotel.

Very nice paintings. - Taxes were already included in my bills at booking.com but upon check-in I was asked to pay taxes again which I rejected. Luckily, the 2 female staff at the counter were reasonable people. (1)The windows of the 2 rooms faced the back alleys of houses. (2)Corridors were stuffy and warm.

• Eli (5/5): Located right at the heart of touristy spot! - The receptionist, Mr. Alex is extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you for assisting us with questions and also provided us with some information about Malacca. The location of the hotel were great with eateries around and most of the highlights in Malacca is around the corner as well. We walked to Baba & Nyonya Museum and Stadthuys. AC in the room were cold so it's a bonus for that. They also provided room slipper which in my opinion is a great common gesture as the flooring were cold especially going in and out bathroom. 1) If you travel with an elderly or guests with mobility issue, keep in mind there is no elevator therefore you'll need to walked the stairs dragging your luggage to the counter and all the way to your room. The hotel looks like a typical old 2 storey shop houses from the outside and the check-in counter is located not the ground floor. 2) Hair dryer looks a bit worn out, I was afraid to use it as it sounds like it is going to explode if its heated. 3) There is no decent cupboard to hang your clothes. You'll need to hang your clothing on top of the kettle on the rod. It doesn't looks appealing and practical.

• Cyrille (8/5): Mini séjour à Malacca - Emplacement parfait, au centre de chinatown, accès direct à tous commerces. Accueil facilite, paiement via booking. Plusieurs salle de bain disponible et de quoi avoir gratuitement de l'eau fraîche ou chaude. Accueil gentil et personnel accordant. Si il faut y mettre quelque chose la climatisation un peu bruyante.

Even have water dispenser for hot,room temp and cold water. Definately recommend! Just to note that no lift but no issue for me.
