- Ebrahim Yakoob (7/5): Golf breakaway - Location is great. Rooms are spacious. It’s rated 5 star. But it’s more like a 3 star in terms of amenities and service. Breakfast is adequate. It’s disconcerting when the receptionist/manager simply walks into your room unannounced.

- Motshabi (7/5): Overall it’s a good place to relax, owners need to do maintenance. - The Tannie who was standing in as the manager was lovely, warm and she is really passionate about hospitality- you can just tell it’s her gift, they really did good to put her there, what a soul. They need a larger variety for breakfast, eating the same breakfast over and over again can get tiring. Especially for that kind of money paid. Also the cleaners need to know not to use the guests belongings…I don’t care if it’s a charger or what…do not touch the guests belongings. Having access to someone’s room is invasive already but going in and finding someone’s phone on my charging point is off putting. Also our bathroom had a massive ceiling leak, since there was a storm on two of our nights…we couldn’t access the toilet because it was just puddle after puddle…in the lodges defence, the Tannie offered to move us to a different room, which I declined because it didn’t look bad when it was dry not knowing how big the damage was especially when it rains.

- BRIGHTON (4/5): - Ok limited options Too many rules and assumption by the receptionist that we are going to make noise cause were going to the football match.You are given limited access to the property.only 3 access were given so it meant out for the match then in after the match and out when you leaving.

- Van (2/5): Nice place but expect no sleep. - The breakfast was very good. That was about the only thing that was good. Matumi Gold Lodge is next to a golf course, a Muslim temple and a highway. During the night heavy freight lorries come down the highway and their exhaust brakes wakes one up. At 04:30 a Muslim singer sings over a loudspeaker in the temple. Before 6 o'clock in the morning there are so much noise as lawnmowers start to cut the lawn, blowers blow the leaves on the greens, workers scream at each other and the clubhouse uses a loudspeaker to line the golf teams up. Because of the constant noise throughout each night we slept very badly. To make things even more uncomfortable, the family of the owner stayed in one of the rooms and were having a party in their room the first two nights until after 24:00. On the last night the owner of the Lodge was there and he had a party of all parties until 03:30 the next morning. He did not have the decency to inform the guests of his party or any apologies. Matumi Golf Lodge is not the place if you want to relax and sleep well.

- Enea (2/5): Very poor - We booked at the premises with breakfast included. The lady at the reception had friends there and they were having a braai/party. When she came to greet us she could barely speak, she was very intoxicated. They were shouting and banging things till after 02:15. Furthermore we asked her for early breakfast as we had to leave for the Kruger park, and she compromised saying that she would prepare it and it will be ready by 06:00 but only take’away, on which we agreed…but at 06:00 she was nowhere to be found and the breakfast wasn’t ready!!
- Mrs (5/5): Disappointing! Dishonesty! - The location. Breakfast ends at 9am. The lodge is rated 5* when in fact it's only 3*. Very deceiving. The owner needs to let the tourism council know their grading needs to change, before guests do it.

- Charl (8/5): Lovely clean facility and beautiful surrounding golf course. Quiet and tranquil space to unwind - Quiet setting with enough space to walk and exercise. Property could have more comfortable seating inside. With family visiting, we had to spend time in rooms 2 and 3. Chains are not the best as the feet of the chairs in room 3 will not be able to carry the weight of an adult. Instructions at the gate to get to the lodge and how the pin code system worked was not good. Maybe more detailed instructions to help first time visitors would be great.

- Imtiaz (2/5): Don't waste your time - I booked into the Presidential suite for 3 nights but stayed for 1 (23 June). Not even close to 5 star. The room door did not lock from the outside, the bathroom tap had a leak and when I tried to close the bathroom door it did not close fully, the TV remote from the room next door was controlling my TV so I could not relax and watch TV, the bed was very noisy and you could also clearly hear the conversations and TV from the room next door. I explained the issues to the manager who said she would speak to the owners about a refund. Later in the day the manager called and confirmed the refund would be done but I should wait a week or so. A week later I get a message from the manager saying there are now new owners (nor mentioned before) and they are still going to meet to discuss my refund. Awaiting feedback and my refund

- Cecil (7/5): Needs improvement - The estate and the location. The room is starting to date, the carpet was very dirty and full of dust or sand. The general area smells like a petshop and I realised it was all the fish tanks. The shower head was also broken and we asked to have it replaced then somebody fixed it with sellotape. The coffe and water was also not refilled it the room. I don't like to complain but it is important to know id you want to improve.
