- Thushan (9/5): A lovely stay with great views and a beautiful setting, just good to be aware of the steep access road before arriving. - We loved the location, the property is massive and very peaceful. The pool had a fantastic view, the room was really nice, and the food was tasty as well. The only thing that could be clearer at the time of booking is that the driveway up to the property is very steep, so a suitable vehicle is needed.

- McCarthy (9/5): Wish we had more time at this place!! - Beautiful big rooms overlooking dense forest landscapes, amazing infinity pool overlooking a lush valley, excellent food
- Alina (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Amazing place and we had a great time there, because of Kasun, Darshana and the best cook ever.
- Michał (10/5): 10/10 - The epicenter of peace — a true detox from civilization, with birdsong and the sounds of the jungle. On top of that, fantastic staff and delicious food. An absolute 10/10.
- Mahendra (10/5): Getaway in Egalle, Polgahawela - Located in a pleasant beautiful scenic environment. Clean large room with essential amenities. Room could be easily upgraded to 4 star with minimal improvements. Very friendly, efficient and punctual staff. Approach road is not in good condition.

- Sandaruwan (9/5): Superb -
- Timothy (8/5): Wonderful location and ideal for a short stay! - The staff at the hotel are very helpful and kind. We booked for one night and managed to get a small hike to a waterfall in. The birds, bats and firefly’s were all incredible to see. The pool is wonderful and to sit on the edge and view the wildlife is quite special. Good breakfast and dinner. It is very remote but the WiFi was good if you need to keep in touch! There is another review of the accessibility. It’s about 1.5km from the main road and the road is bumpy and it is steep. Vans can make it up fine.
- Thiwanka (7/5): Good -
- Kim (8/5): Wonderful relaxing stay after a long flight. Staff were exceptional -
- Hana (9/5): Superb - Very good breakfast and dinner
comfortable and spacious rooms
filtered water available
nice view from the pool
nice surroundings - difficult road to get there - we had a van and it was after rain, and the car had trouble getting there
- Sevaldson (9/5): Peaceful place with kind and helpful staff - Nice staff that was very welcoming and wanted to show us around. They Also arrenged airport pickup with a kind driver and a late check-in. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was also very tasty. Surroundings were so calm and peaceful. The road to the property were a bit crazy and steap somewhere. But it was definitly worth it, just Keep it in mind if you are driving yourself.

- Sophie (1/5): Meiden sie dieses Hotel!!! - Don't go to this hotel! It's a disaster!
The young man who is supposed to take care of everything there doesn't seem very interested. He simply disappears or is busy on his cell phone instead of clearing glasses or preparing things. The table is not set before meals, let alone wiped. Glasses are dirty and have a bad smell. There is dirt everywhere.
Bathrooms in a very bad condition. The windows in the rooms are broken, the air conditioning doesn't cool or can't be regulated. We had to change rooms and couldn't get to the new room until around 7:30 p.m. because it wasn't clean yet. We ordered our dinner in time for 6 p.m. in the afternoon and nothing was ready. When it finally arrived after a 20-minute delay, half of it was cold or inedible. A room with 3 beds costs almost $100 😡 I expected something different! We complained and were assured that we only had to pay $60 as compensation. The next day they say it's not possible and they can only give us $15 off. 😤
The manager assures us that they will improve when the reviews are bad, but nothing happens. If they don't finally start to improve, they can close the shop soon!
And please stop hitting your dogs on the head, they are leading creatures. The dog is dependent on humans, so it always seeks to be close to them, but instead of sterilizing the dogs so that they don't continue to reproduce unhindered, they are only seen as a nuisance. They have feelings and needs🙏❣️
I could write more, but that's beyond the scope. Take a look at my photos to see what awaits you there! Bad service + food, mold and dirt, especially in the bathroom 🤢
look at Google maps, I uploaded all the photos there
- Amantha (8/5): Very good -
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - We ended up here because we changed our travel plans while already in the train. This was no problem, they welcomed us like royalty.
The room was spacious, clean and classy.
Food from the restaurant was fairly priced and tasted great.
Great bed and shower. Breakfast was expensive but also way too much food. A third of the portions served for half price would be more reasonable. Tasted great though.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elke (6/5): Nice and relaxing spot in the forest. - The pool, lounge area and rooms are nice. Service is good. Good for relaxing, beeing in nature. Food and Wi-Fi is good. The bathrooms need beeing renowated!
- Marvin (8/5): Glorious place to completely relax - Amazing views from our room and the dining area. wonderful service by the manager Nalin and the second in charge Adihya. The Sri Lankan food was especially good. We much preferred it to the Western options. we were a bit disappointed not to be able to walk the forest track as it was overgrown and a bit dangerous for older people like us.
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional - Its a beautiful place with wonderful views. I got the best room i think! They really helped me to get comfortable. The road up was very difficult, but they are prepared and came down to help me (i was driving my own tuktuk and am not so experienced). I was the only one there but still could get anything from the menu. It is great food, also the breakfast. After check out they helped me get the tuktuk down again. Very happy i stayed here as a stop between negombo en anuradhapura.
- Kasun (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (8/5): An absolutely lovely remote resort for a quiet short stay - Panoramic windows with stunning view on the forest and the sounds of birds singing can leave no one unimpressed. It’s so beautiful all around that it was a great pity to leave. Absolutely worth finding it to spend our last day of the holiday here. We were a little disappointed by the state of the walking trail, it looks like no one has been using it for a long time - the path in disarray, partly blocked by fallen trees and overgrown bushes, not to mention it is not very extensive to begin with, so maybe don’t count on long walks in the forest. We were fine because we only came for a day and spent half of it chilling in the room and by the pool and another half exploring the trail but for a longer stay I would say the activities are limited.
Also, not a downside but more of a caution - the hotel is situated on the top of the hill, and our driver wasn’t able to climb it in his sedan, so we had to call the staff and ask for help - which they organized momentarily - so better choose a pick up to drive up to the place.
- Edmond (6/5): Pleasant - The property was beautiful as design inside the forest. Comfort and location
- Chinthaka (8/5): Very good - Our stay at Birds Park Hotel, was truly exceptional. The room was immaculate, the service was outstanding, and the overall experience surpassed our expectations. Thank you Mr. Nalin and Adithya for everything you did. It was next level. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Alawwa, Polgahawela.. Looking forward to returning soon!
- Steven (10/5): Private and peaceful Sri Lankan getaway - Magnificent location, private and peaceful boutique getaway with large bathrooms and large, well-appointed clean rooms with extra large comfy beds. Our room had a private 360' view of rainforest, coconut plantation and the pool. Excellent traditional Sri Lankan and Western food. Attentive and cheerful manager and staff (who spoke English and helped me with my Sri Lankan!) The staff even found my husbands wedding ring! Take a cool walk through well maintained rainforest tracks and hotel gardens or relax in the natural rock infinity pool for pure tranquillity.
Exceptional Sri Lankan hospitality and the rest we needed during our busy Sri Lankan holiday. We will be back! The driveway is a bit steep in parts.
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nagahage (10/5): It was a wonderful place to relax, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The meals were exceptional.. - We went there to enjoy our vacation, and the room was incredibly spacious with very comfortable beds. The location was brilliant for relaxation. The staff, especially Nalin, took great care of us, providing everything we needed for a nice stay. The manager, Nuwan, was also fantastic, ensuring our complete satisfaction. I definitely recommend this place, and we will certainly visit again on our next trip to Sri Lanka.
- Raveendra (8/5): Very good -
- Oscar (7/5): Great location, very remote, cleaniness and facilities could be better - Absolutely AMAZING location. Staff were also nice, and room looked great. You can see many beautiful birds from the deck and your room. There were no photo’s of the bathroom, and now we know why. Completely moulded and with ants. Strange, because the rest of the room was clean and exactly as on the photo’s.
Also we came with our own tuktuk, and the road there is very steep and bumpy and basically made for a 4 wheel drive. It would’ve been nice if they would’ve told us upfront. Wouldn’t advice to do this with a tuktuk.
Finally, would recommend the property not to serve western food but Sri Lankan instead. Also they had only 3 drinks: we had the choice of coca cola, sprite or warm water from the tank. Please expand your selection.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - My wife and I booked this last minute as we were both ill on arrival to Sri Lanka and couldn't drive to Sigiriya as planned. The staff were amazing!! They really went above and beyond. They knocked on the door numerous times to check on us and bring us food and drinks. The room was great, and the setting was so peaceful and picturesque. Thank you so much for the staff ❤️ Nothing
- Nina (10/5): Amazing place off the beathen path to relax and enjoy nature - highly recommended! - The hotel is surrounded by nature. You can spot parrots around the house. Its an extraordinary place to relax with quite some activities - we did a hike to a small waterfall which was lovely and relaxed by the infinity pool. We would loved to stay longer than just 1 night! The rooms are big, super clean. The food is super tasty and the service excellent. Highly recommend this place a bit off the beathen paths to enjoy nature.
- Phuong (10/5): An excellent and good for value stay - Excellent place for everything, from the facility (the super comfortable bed, the stylish decoration, the beautiful pool) to the impeccable staff and the top quality food. We booked for 2 nights and extended as we enjoyed the place so much. The staff is super nice, speak perfect English and super efficient. A lot of wildlife around the property for nature lovers. All the food (both Western and Asian) we had were excellent at an affordable price. After 8 weeks of having different curries in Sri Lanka, I am confident to say that Bird Park makes the best curry. There are plenty of on-site activities to keep you entertained too. Overall a 10/10. -

- Anuradha (6/5): Pleasant - Location was interesting and quiet . Surrounded from mountains and in a coconut plantation estate. Good stay for a nature lovers .
- Lisa (7/5): Lovely place to stay - Rural location, saw some beautiful birds. The food and service was great. Room has everything you need. Very helpful staff. Building work including banging and drilling kept us awake until midnight.

- Tijmend (9/5): Superb - The road to the hotel was a bit bumpy and steep but doable in a tuktuk and once you get there, it definitely pays off because of the views
The Sri Lankan rice and curry from the restaurant was amazing Room could be cleaner
- Pamuditha (6/5): comfortable and economical - very quiet surroundings and closer to nature; serene environment and a peaceful location room was a bit small but had a good balcony. Restaurant was above the room and got noisy at times; needs more sound proofing to block the noise from the restaurant.
- Loreta (9/5): Birds Park in the heart of nature - Most welcoming and gracious staff. We did the archery and the air rifle. Lovely natural water rock pool and lots of birds and wildlife are observable under the spacious canopy.
- Rob (8/5): Quite hotel on beautiful location - Beautiful located hotel on top of a hill. our room was big and well decorated.
we wanted a beer which was not available but manager arranged a tuktuk to get us a beer (at a small cost of course). Food was ok, but not great. Pool was a bit cloudy (could not see my feet). The last 800m was an unpaved and steep road up which was a bit difficult for us driving our own tuktuk, but maybe less difficult by car?
- Gayan (9/5): Superb - Comfortable Place and Nice view. Friendly staff. Arrival road parth was some deficit. Not recommend for a car.
- Mal (8/5): Lovely Hotel with Tree views - A bit of an adventure getting to the hotel as it is located at the top of a very steep drive way that meanders though a coconut and pepper plantation. Once there however, the views are great and the ambiance tranquil. The balcony overlooks tree tops, which for anyone seeking a quiet hideaway, this place is perfect.
