Guest Reviews
- Janet (10/5): - Staff all very friendly. Bedroom was noisy at night, over kitchen. We were up graded to another room straight away so all was good.
- chris (6/5): - Parking was easy but the room had a door between the neighbouring room that was locked but didnt fullt reach the floor. It felt and sounded like the neighbours were in the room.
- Verna (2/5): - Staff were good but ghe room was treble
- Stacey (6/5): - Liked the closeness into town
- Ivor (8/5): Good alround pub/hotel. - Good service, good location- very central: parking, dog friendly, good food, nice bar, comfortable bed. Nice garden & outdoor space.
- Andrew (10/5): - Everything
- Melissa (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the white rabbit. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely lady at breakfast.
The room was nice and comfortable and easy access from external door to car park which was locked.
The room and bathroom could be cleaner and stains removed and cobwebs.
- Debbie (4/5): - Very poor value for money. £190 for double room that resembles a prison cell. Grey walls, no light coming in, no view except the top of the kitchen with noisy extractor fans . Absolutely terrible. 😣
- Kimberly (10/5): - We loved our stay! The room was spacious for my family of five. It did get warm and the lack of air conditioning made it tough for sleeping. The fans provided helped.
- MRS H A (8/5): Sleepless in the New Forest. - The best thing about The White Rabbit was the breakfasts! They were really good. The Staff were friendly and welcoming and first impressions were of a lovely warm establishment. Unfortunately our room was a bit tired and grubby needed some tlc. The one evening meal we had the main wasn't great, and we did mention this to our lovely waitress who then didn't charge for our puds, which helped to compensate. The White Rabbit sits on the main road, which is always busy! And could be heard from our room and did disturb our sleep. But overall we did enjoy our stay in such a beautiful part of the country.
- Pascale (8/5): - Only the bed is very small and the room has no airco. Staff is perfect as well as the cleanliness of the room. (If you find it). And for this reason we can back this year. Also the area is perfect for a little shopping. We'll be back.
- Christina (10/5): - Really lovely stay at the hotel. Family of 5, with 3 children 5 and under and we felt very welcome. Perfect for a visit to Peppa Pig only 10 mins away.
The staff were great. Really welcoming and no issue with the noise that children bring.
Dinner was lovely. Although pub grub it was really tasty.
Family room was very big. Although a little tired looking was absolutely fine for our stay.
Would definitly recommend and would stay again.
Only downside. The outside area would really benefit from a childrens play swing set/ slide
- Mirza hader (10/5): - It was amazing, my children loved it, close by restaurants, co - op etc
I will definitely come again
Thank you
- wendy (10/5): - This was our first visit to the New Forest and it was absolutely stunning made all the more enjoyable by the lovely staff at The White Rabbit Hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The hotel is set in a fabulous location within easy reach of the most beautiful settings and the local town. The hotel was spotlessly clean, meals were great and there's ample parking. The only thing I would have done differently was booked a bigger room (booked a basic double) but this was a last minute trip so it wasn't a problem. We visited the local attractions as well the lovely town of Beaulieu. Every morning before breakfast we walked two minutes around the corner to see the wild ponies and their foals. The meals at the hotel were good, varied and catered for all types of specific needs as well being reasonably priced. We had the bed and breakfast option and there was a good choice but an absolute must have is the Farmers Breakfast if a full English is a bit much for you in the mornings. I have started making it at home! Can't wait to visit again and would 100% stay at The White Rabbit next time. Well done to Carl, Muriel and the whole team.
- Daniel (10/5): - Staff were really friendly, food was excellent and in such a stunning setting. Could not fault this and would recommend to anyone visiting the New Forest
- Martin (8/5): - Lovely place. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming, food was nice, breakfast was excellent.
Chef and brewer really need to spend some money on decor as it looked dated and there was gaffer tape holding the carpet together in the dinning room.New carpets and a fresh lick of paint would make so much difference to this lovely old building.
- Lara (6/5): Lovely people - The staff could not be lovelier but this place is in need of some serious TLC in the rooms. There were roadworks right outside which meant that it took forever to go anywhere. Room 5 was directly next to a huge vent which was a constant humming sound making it almost impossible to sleep. The shower had mould which had just been covered up by silicone and the room itself was incredibly basic. I understand this is likely due to the fact that this was a cheap place to stay for the weekend but at over £100 a night with no breakfast included I still felt it was lacking.
- dave (8/5): - Great location for trip ( mountain biking) within the New forest. Good value for price. Easy access to Lyndhurst. Have used before and will again, lovely 2 days
- Nikki (10/5): Great place - Very clean although a little dated. Staff were very friendly and excellent food and service. Would definitely stay again.
- Laura (8/5): - Staff were amazing. Very welcoming and friendly.
The room was dark and there was a noisy generator outside that switched on and off.
I was offered another room the next morning.
Food was good as was the service.
- teresa (10/5): - Staff were amazing.
- Stephen (10/5): - Great place to stay for a short break.
- Angela (10/5): - Great hotel amd super friendly staff. Beds are very comfortable!
- Dale (10/5): - A great place to stay.
- Debbie (10/5): - My and my Boyfriend stayed and had the beach weekend staff amazing
Food lovely, Room ok
But would definitely stay again
Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): One night stay that was amazing. - I cannot fault my stay at all. From the moment i arrived i was warmly greeted by the loveliest man (sorry i didnt catch his name). The room was perfect size for me and had everything i needed. The bed was lovely and comfy. The wifi worked well and i was able to crack on with work. The shower was hot and powerful (one snall thing is the shower door doesnt give a huge amount of room to geyt in to the shower but that wouldnt ve a problem for everyone). I went and had some dinner and drinks downstairs and the waitress was lovely, friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing and the drunks were gorgeous too. The whole place was ready for christmas and looked absolutely stunning. My stay included breakfast which was delicious with a buffet style continental breakfast included. The waitress was also amazing very warm and friendly. All in all it was a perfect stay and if im ever in that neck of the woods again thats where ill book.
- Rebecca (8/5): - The bathrooms need updating massively.
Staff fantastic and food was great
- Ian (4/5): - The room we were allocated was yards away from a very busy road with vehicle noise and little protection from the windows. The humming of a a/c or cooler or unknown fan gave a constant hum throughout the night. The position of the room up and down many stairs to reach was not suitable of a modern hotel. We booked for 2 nights, but checked out at 1445 of the second night as my wife was unable to negotiate the stairs and suffer the noise, for a further night. We had payed for this 2nd night, but felt it was more beneficial to drive home, even on a Bank Holiday Monday with the severe heavy traffic involved. The cost of the room reflected a proper hotel room, not a pub b&b room. We will definitely look for alternatives next time as we visit this town regularly to visit my son, who lives there. Not happy in the slightest in our stay at the White Rabbit 25/08/24
- Alison (10/5): - Staff was very respectful and helpful
- Ray (8/5): - Nice clean
- Kevin (10/5): - My family arrived here from Canada, after a long flight and drive from the airport. We arrived early before the allocated check in time but they were very accommodating in getting our room ready as soon as possible.
The property is wonderful and the staff are very friendly.
A quick walk to the town provided a lot of options for dining in addition to the hotel being part restaurant.
- Surbhi (8/5): Nice hotel and pub - Lovely hotel and pub. The staff are really nice and caring and accommodated our requests with 2 young children. Food was really good! The room and bathroom were a bit dated and are in need of upgrading.
- David (8/5): - Very helpful staff, making us breakfast bags as we had an early start.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The staff were charming and kind, the food and service was excellent. The hotel is old but clean.
- Susan (6/5): 3-Night break - Comfortable bed in spacious room but unfortunately at the front on the busy road. Had to keep the windows shut, but still could hear the traffic.
The breakfasts were excellent with good service, but very poor service in the restaurant at dinner where we waited for one hour and ten minutes from ordering to receiving our meal.
- Martin (6/5): - Property, especially the bedrooms in desperate need of a makeover. Only double bed (and it was lumpy and uncomfortable) when the norm nowadays is at least a King size. We had room 5 which was cold, smelt damp, curtains hanging off the rail, nowhere in the shower to put shampoo etc., not enough hangers in wardrobe space, no drawers for clothing. All the time we could hear doors being banged, i assume this was from the kitchen? Food was mediocre.
- Alison (10/5): - This property was excellent, the rooms very clean and spacious with decent sized ensuite. The food was really very good and very reasonably priced served by extremely polite and helpful staff.
- barbara (6/5): - Friendly staff. Lovely in parts but very scruffy in others. Looks like a part refurbishment but left some areas untouched. Stained, frayed seats next to nice clean new ones. Shower doors that didn't join together & leaked over bathroom floor. Nice new carpet next to ugly old carpet on stairs. Badly chipped paintwork in the same room with nice new panelling. You get the idea....
Room was clean with comfy bed. Food & service was good. Let down by being a bit shabby in places.
- Reginald (8/5): - Large comfortable room, a bit tired looking but clean and ideal for an overnight stay.
- Jeanne (8/5): - Nothing was too much for Bunny and Murial.Excellent Customer service.Rest of the staff were lovely. Had a lovely room looking out onto the fields with beautiful views of the forest and horse's. Food was very nice. Couple of minutes walk to shopping area. Will be booking to stay again.
- TRICIA (10/5): - We loved The White Rabbit. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent.
- Stuart (10/5): - Great stay for a local wedding, very spacious room, very comfortable bed.
- Anita (10/5): - The White Rabbit was perfect for us for a relaxed minibreak: great location, plenty of parking, walking distance of a buzzing town centre and walks, great restaurant and pub and the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.
- JULIE (10/5): GREAT - WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN
- Verified traveler (10/5): 3 night stop over - Great place to stay, comfortable room with lovely food morning and evening. The staff were always friendly with a special shout out to Bunny who would go out of her way to make sure everything was spot on
- Robert (8/5): - Good value for money and friendly staff.
- Graham (10/5): - Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly from book in to book out. Breakfast food excellent value and great choice
- Lynn (10/5): Friends get together. - Lovely rooms and very clean. Restaurant food was very nice. Great dinners and plenty of choice at breakfast.
All the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning.
- Samantha (10/5): - This is a beautiful place with lovely attentive staff. Food was amazing. Room was big and clean. Very nice stay highly recommend. 🙂
- Nicola (8/5): - The staff at this hotel was amazing, so welcoming and friendly and it's just a short walk to the High Street.
- Claire (10/5): - Staff very friendly. Very enjoyable stay
Will visit again
- Sally (8/5): - Only stayed one night, perfect for our needs.
- Elden (10/5): - It was the friendliness and accommodating nature of the staff that really made our stay at the White Rabbit special. We were met with an enthusiastic reception on check-in and were given lots of information about the hotel, the local area and our room... (I meant to get the name of the man who checked us in on Friday 19th evening, however didn't get the chance. He was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay and deserves a lot of thanks) . Throughout our stay, any issues that we had (of which there weren't many) were proactively resolved by the hotel staff, who really went above and beyond to support us.
The excellent service continued into the dining room as well, where our server (who's name I believe to be Bunny) was very welcoming, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a lovely dinner service.
For the food itself, we ordered the Signature burger (much recommended) and the Lasagne, both of which were greatly enjoyed and seemed to be good value for money. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and the food came hot and in perfect time for a relaxed dinner. I particularly enjoyed the braised beef rib in the burger myself.
Equally impressive was our hotel room, which really superseded our expectations. Having booked the basic double room, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The overall cleanliness was excellent and we found both the bedroom and bathroom immaculate on arrival.
A seriously great experience. 5/5
- Lauren (8/5): Family friendly fun - We were greeted on arrival by Bunny who was clearly busy but didnt hesitate to offer her help and check us in. Very Friendly and helpful and always a plus when staff engage with the children in our family.
The room was a great size, comfortable (if a little chilly) and adequately furnished with facilities. Beds were really cosy and comfortable and everything very clean. Only things that let it down were:-
- couldn't shut bathroom window
-if using the sofa bed in front of bay window it was noisy/windy.
-I also noticed a large water stain on the ceiling next to the wardrobe which is always a shame even if it doesnt affect the room.
- not many plug sockets
- not very accessible with a buggy though thankfully that wasn't a big issue for us.
At checkout the manager was helpful and directed us to a lovely area to walk.
Breakfast was very well priced, abundant and delicious.
- Phill (6/5): Great place. Amazing customer service - Room was really nice. Welcome by the manager was impeccable. I left a bag of food in my room when I left and they made a call to let me know. Many hotels wouldn't even care. Top marks!
The room I stayed in was very nice. Only thing that let it down was the noise from machinery... could've been chilling system for the fridges but wasn't too much of an issue. Would stay again for sure.
- Margaret (10/5): - Lovely stay would recommend
- Linda (10/5): - All very nice
- Maureen (10/5): - The staff were extremely helpful and friendly
- Katrina (8/5): - staff very helpful and nice . Room nice . dinner was very nice and yummy.
- Amanda (8/5): - The family room was ideal, especially with option to have single bed plus sofa bed alongside adult bed within 1 room. Room bit dark, could have added tissue box and similar comforts. Staff barely apologised for the fire alarm early morning which rather scared us, especially kids.
Breakfast good, good dining options and restaurant food though staff seem confused about vegan versus vegetarian food and the difference!
Incredibly annoying that you cant seem to ring the venue and speak to a real person, only a robot voice!!
- Nigel (10/5): - Had a lovely time at white rabbit, staff so friendly polite and helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Food excellent, wide range if choice, for breakfast and dinner always hit ! Will definitely return.
- Katha (10/5): - Was provided a spacious room, delicious breakfast, and easy walk to High Street in Lyndhurst for shopping. Nice size parking lot too.
- Sheila (10/5): - Lovely welcoming on our arrival for our 1 night stopover on route to the Isle of Wight. Great location, surroundings are beautiful. Room was good for a family of 5 but could do with a little redecorating. Have to say though it was very comfortable. Food in the restaurant was amazing as was the breakfast. We all enjoyed our stay here. Thank you x
- STEPHEN W (8/5): - Somewhere comfortable to stay after a cycle event in the new forest - friendly and efficient staff, pleasant surroundings and a comfortable room with an excellent shower - it ticked all my boxes.
- Dean (10/5): - Amazing service and great food
- Verified traveler (10/5): New Forest location - Friendly greeting when we arrived, good location for the New Forest. Comfortable room, excellent breakfast. Plenty of free parking
- Charles (4/5): - Not so good room not cleaned during the stay
After requesting towels as room not cleaned and being promised not delivered
No answer to calls at night as no one answered calls
- Chris (10/5): - The friendly staff, the grounds , the food could not be faulted itcwas a perfect stay
- Jeanette (4/5): - Dan made us very welcome, helpful, showed us our rooms on ground floor, back of the hotel, pointed out parking due to disability. Bunny was very pleasant and helpful too. evening meal restaurant staff were great, food very nice.2nd evening we had already eaten, only wanted drinks in the bar, table in the window we wanted to sit at was full of dirty plates and glasses from the previous guests and we asked the person in the bar whose name we didn’t get if someone could clear the table as we had our drinks and sat down. He snapped at us and said ‘they’ve only just left’ and he asked a female member of staff to clear the table. She came and took 3 plates but left the table full of glasses, bottle and ice bucket and said she’d be back for the rest. There was hardly any room for us to put our drinks and the table was dirty and wet. She never returned to finish clearing the table but cleared next one to us and behind us. We asked again if someone could clear and clean the table but was ignored. We eventually moved the dirty glasses etc onto table next to us and immediately the male bar staff member stormed over and abruptly picked up the glasses then the rest, huffing and puffing as he did so without an apology/acknowledgement so we went elsewhere for rest of stay. We weren’t warned about fire alarm test the next morning at 8.45 and dog left barking above our rooms at night, obv a flat above with noisy washer spinning, complained, won’t return or recommend, overpriced, rooms shabby.
- Richard (10/5): - The accommodation was fantastic the staff were friendly and made our stay 5 star, will definitely be returning soon regards Richard and Kate
- Phyllis (6/5): - The room was really only suitable for one person, the bed was small, the tv was so small you couldnt watch it in bed, no sub titles either. Windows were old and badly fitting. The food in the hotel was very good and worth a visit to eat but not stay.
- Dave (10/5): Great stay - Had a great five day stay here , staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and evening diner were great would recommend and return.
- Oliver (10/5): Weekend away - Good value for money. Friendly staff and good food . Definitely visit again
- Jacky (10/5): - Very nice stay staff were lovely
- Brent (10/5): - The location is fantastic walking distance to the town. The staff are fantastic and friendly, the hotel it self needs a bit of an uplift as hasn't had much done in 6 years but due to covid this had a big impact on the place:
The food is fantastic and i spent my birthday there where my partner ask if there is anything they could do to celebrate my birthday, they done a fantastic job including sung happy birthday
- Stephen (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was the only twin bedded room and was large. The room was next to the road which was a little noisy at times.
Very pleased overall with out couple days stay.
The food was excellent , both breakfast and evenings.
- CARL (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Great location and dog friendly. Good range of dinning options.
- Mr (10/5): - It was lovely staff was so nice and friendly the restaurant food was amazing good value for money
- Alison (8/5): Weekend break - Visiting family so needed local hotel. Very welcoming staff, cheerful bartender. Room clean, comfy and bright. Large windows with pleasant view. Breakfast, hot and plenty of choice. Highly recommend
- charmian (8/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were very comfortable.
- Paula (10/5): - Great welcome by friendly staff.
- Tristan (8/5): - Loved the family room however the lack of a fridge was disappointing. A fridge is really handy when you have kids to keep snacks etc cold. Not sure why there was no fridge. Also, staff seemed to not replace items daily such as toilet rolls and coffee. Having to ask for toilet rolls is frustrating. Apart from that, a great hotel in a great location at a reasonable price.
- Kim (10/5): Isle of wight stop off - Second time staying at the white rabbit and was again a great stay first face we saw was Dan who as always greeted us with a warm hello and smiling face it has become our choice of stay before heading off to the Isle of Wight.
- mark (10/5): - Very professional but friendly staff, easy private parking, clean, warm and comfortable bar and restaurant with a decent menu.
For that sort of budget, it is exceptional.
- Robin (10/5): Friendly staff, good location - Check-in/bar/breakfast staff were all very friendly and keen to make it a comfortable stay for us. We had a large room with queen, single and fold out sofa bed, a large bathroom with bath and separate shower. It was a comfortable room and didn’t lack facilities. We would happily stay here again if in the area.
- Tyrone (10/5): - The hotel was lovely and welcoming as were the staff, parking was plentiful. Our room was comfortable if a little old fashioned and was excellent value for what we paid. We had breakfast on one morning and the full English was a delight. It is situated in the middle of the New Forest and the village of Lyndhurst (10 minutes walk away) is lovely and well worth a visit. We will definitely be making a return visit next year.
- Julie (10/5): A Very Good Hotel - This is a very good hotel with caring staff. Our room was large, well heated, and with a pleasant shower room.
- EDDIE (8/5): - Convenient for our purpose of visit
- Debbie (8/5): Not bad option if get a decent room - The location & Free on-site parking where very good. Staff very friendly & helpful.
Not a bad option to stay in Lyndhurst if you get a better room than we had...
The room we stayed in (No 4) was on the small side & could do with a bit of an upgrade. The frame of the single glazed window was in poor condition letting in the cold & the wall could do with a fresh coat of paint. TV & Bed on the small the small side, but ok.
We didn't have breakfast included in the room rate, but good value at £7.99 for continental & full English options.
Wifi on site was via The cloud, which i didn't bother using.
- Julie (10/5): Perfect for a pre cruise stay - Service was excellent and the manager was extremely helpful
- rajinder (8/5): - Excellent customer service, friendly staff, great food at dinner.
- Pete Kemsley (8/5): Barhroom - Overall clean disappointing wet room The disabled chair wss rusty and unsafe mould on wood door frame Water didnt run away if you had 2 showers The seal around drain was rotting away
- Karen (10/5): - Friendly staff and good accessability
Great breakfast!
- Lee (8/5): - Staff were very accommodating and polite, food was good but the accommodation is quite tired looking.
- Jayne (4/5): - Our room felt rather unwelcoming right at the end on ground floor it had a disabled bathroom which was not required and the equipment in there was rather rusty. Although the room was clean.
The meals finished at 8pm and the whole place closes at 10 pm which is rather poor for people staying in the hotel.
The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Bernhard (10/5): - Pleasant surroundings
very good english breakfast and dining
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bif family room - Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in a family room which was very clean and a big room. Breakfast was fab! A great choice and very reasonably priced. The only downside was the beds as the matress was very hard.
- Kristine (6/5): - Our stay was comfortable and the staff were amazing. We had a basement room and were worried about the poor security on the end windows. The shower room was a wet room and the bottom of the door frame has mould and rot from water collection on showering, also the carpet gets wet in the bedroom when the shower is running, this results in a slight damp aroma.
- Par (8/5): - It’s a nice hotel it needs a pit of TLC
- Sean (6/5): Average Accomodation with nice staff. - The premises were a bit tired. Staff shortage on the day, but the staff were pleasant. Glad the bar area was not overcrowded. Breakfast was full English but the had run out of baked beans. Very minor point but should not happen. It was about right for the price.
