- Yolande (3/5): - I chose picanha Heidelberg this time over the one in Nigel as I thought it would be much quieter due to its location but the other guests that booked in the same weekend took peace and quietness away Excessive noise levels from 23h30 onwards until 1am in the morning. Guests walking on wooden floors up and down in high heel shoes after arriving from a function. Then laughing and talking as if shouting at each other......until 1 am in the morning. This happened for 2 nights out of our 4 nights stay. We ended up sleeping at friends the last night and just came back to get the rest of our stuff and check out. I know its not the fault of the guesthouse.....but will definitely not return. I rather take my chances with the one in nigel with all the trucks passing by the main road.
- Evelyn (10/5): - The helpful staff Communication with the owner was bad
- Fortunate S (8/5): - Service was good

I have lodged a complain and you promised me back my money.
- Balw (5/5): It was a decent place and stay. - Easy to find and central within the town. The WiFi was weak and barely worked on my phone and even on the smart TV.
The room was did not have tissues/ toilet paper.
I had to ask for those.
The shower and bathroom needed thorough cleaning.
- Carla (6/5): Picanha Guest House - It is right in the middle of everything one needs. Great restaurants right across the street.
The front desk lady is lovely, welcoming and friendly. The main house is lovely with wooden floors and high ceilings and the building's architecture is also historic and beautiful. Lovely grounds. There were maintenance issues I believe have existed for a long time. Quickly but not quite satisfactorily attended to. Bed's mattress was very old. I should have upgraded my room but being a solo traveller I chose to stay in a single room. My bad. Coffee/tea facilities are in a communal kitchen. I'd have liked a kettle in the room.
- Vusi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - The staff gave a warm welcome.
Very personable and although busy they were always happy to help with a smile.

- Debbie (5/5): very special staff - your staff member is amazing but too much for one person to handle it felt bit unfair - she truly went the extra mile.
she was amazing and very attentive Fan not working properly as chain has been broken off so unable to switch on light in room
Limited facilities
No bar of soap only liquid soap available
Towels not great
- Wentzel (7/5): Good - Great location, easy to access We couldn't get the fan to work without having the light on too
- Motlolisi (8/5): Beautiful, restfull and perfect location - Service from Picanah stuff is the best, The check -in process was swiftly done without any issues even though we checked in late at night.
The cleanliness of the room and their neatly done beds are what impressed me the most. I will go back anytime if I ever need a sleepover in Heidelberg. For my stay nothing I can complain about.
- Leonie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Elana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Nompumelelo (7/5): Good -
- Sizwe (3/5): Its not a good place for someone in a Business Trip - I only liked the room I used on Friday which is Room 911, it was nice When I arrived, there was no admin staff to assist with check inn, and even getting the iron it was not easy.
On Sunday I arrived late evening, I couldn't even get an Iron, I left Monday morning at 4am with my clothes not ironed at all, hence I had requested an Iron when I checked in. Service is completely poor, it seems as if they only focusing on the bar business as compared to the lodge business
- Buthelezi (10/5): Exceptional - Clean,welcoming…friendly staff None
- Marco (8/5): Very good -
- Nobuhle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yusuf (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charmain (7/5): Good -
- Elvis (4/5): Not satisfied with the wooden floor -
- Janse (7/5): Good - Very clean & accommodating You can hear everything because of the wooden floors, it's not a deal breaker
- Leih (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was not included in the price. Would have liked to have a coffee corner, fresh milk and water in the room.
- Tony (10/5): Exceeded expectations for a relaxing weeked outside Johannesburg - Picanha Guesthouse is a real gem. We were looking for a place outside of Johannesurg to spend a relaxing weekend with our puppies and Picanha exceeded our expectations. Everything was great, and there is a big garden which gave our puppies lots of place to run around, and it is in walking distance of shops and restaurants. Would definitely go back there.
- Lehlohonolo (6/5): Pleasant - Everything was ok It was cold a heater was needed to warm up the room
- Francois (7/5): Good - Clean rooms, spacious. Room had no coffee or tea or kettle station.
- Singathwa (8/5): Very good - Warmly received by receptionist and made to feel home Nothing
- Ntlokwana (7/5): It served the purpose that we needed it for. Its good for short stays. - Location and security That only the owners number is listed for communication but it doesn’t get answered when you call it. They should add the reception number as an alternative for ease of communication
- Yoliswa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Asive (10/5): Exceptional -
- Florencia (9/5): Value for money - The hostess was very friendly and very accommodating.
The room was very clean and perfect for a stay over. We went to a wedding near by and had no issues coming and going from the property.
- Jh (7/5): Good -
- Louw (10/5): It was really great - The Lady that helped us from Reception is really awesome. She was help full and very friendly.
- Collis (7/5): Good -
- Abby (8/5): Lovely accommodation, good location, very homely! Would definitely stay here again. - The property itself is lovely, our room was very spacious and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. It was nearly impossible to contact the property before our stay for a query we had about our arrival time. No emails or phone calls were answered in the days leading up to our stay. We did eventually get a response as a WhatsApp message the night before we arrived which was much appreciated.
- Ntswaki (7/5): Good -
- Nonhlanhla (8/5): Very good -
- Dr (3/5): My stay wasn’t good - Actually nothing It was smelly and looks very old .
- Ume-njamma (5/5): Passable -
- Elana (8/5): Awesome family memories - We booked 5 rooms, I loved the fact that we could stay together as a family (we were visiting from all over SA and had family visiting from NZ). We enjoyed the use of the very spacious kitchen and outside braai facilities /area
- Shadrack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nampe (4/5): Use Rand Water and put back kettles in the rooms. Put proper beds and kettles in the bedrooms. - I liked the staff friendliness and care. The outside room had a spring mattress that were worn out. The buidling seems to be still in construction. I saw cockroaches in the main house, the water is from borehole and it was brown in colour (you have to travel from outside rooms to main house to get drinking water). No kettles in the main room even when we didnt have loadshadding in South Africa at the time.
- Chantal (7/5): Good - No kettle in room and no water in toilet
- Karen (5/5): Passable - Location good!
- Ian (5/5): Passable -
- Thobani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jabulisa (6/5): The stay was nice especially inside the room - Need some little bit improvement especially the Breakfast.
Water on the 🚿 were very nice and hot Breakfast
- Alain (7/5): Perfect Place To Stop For The Night - We live in Gaborone, Botswana and were traveling to the south KZN coast in South Africa. We needed a place to stay for the night en route. Picanha Guesthouse was located just south of Johannesburg on the highway we would take to our vacation stay. The property itself was located in the center of town, easy walking distance to a few places to eat or pick up supplies. Room was basic but comfortable and clean. I don't like this section. When I make a booking, I am building in compromises. In this case, we needed place to stay for the night. I accept that I am not going to get the chic-est, most luxurious accommodation because I am not paying top dollar. In this case, Picanha Guesthouse was just what I was looking for, where I needed it and at a fair price.
