Parts of the property were a little run down, so one of the lamps and the fan didn’t work. Also there is no longer any breakfast. Overall, a comfortable stay without any frills.

Before i could even get the car unloaded the front desk was calling me telling me i couldnt have any guests and either they could leave or she would refund my funds. They werent even staying but im not going to make them leave. When i get to the desk she says she can only refund $20 i wasnt in the room for even 5 min. To me this was unacceptable. Horrible hospitality!

- Paul (10/5): Winnie, TX - Great little spot. Was a big and welcome surprise after riding my motorcycle 10 hours from Meridian, MS. Salt water pool felt fantastic for a refreshing dip. Hotel owners/staff went out of their way to assist me with printing some necessary Mexico insurance documents. Restaurants and gas stations were within blocks of the hotel and access to the highway I needed to get to Brownsville. This was a great choice for me.

- Kimberly (8/5): DO NO DISTURB signs need!!! - Everything was great except there was not a do not disturb door hanger???? That being said the maids woke us up at 9am. Then they knocked again at 930. And again at 10 and even opened the door that time. Had it not been for the fact we checked in after 3am that same morning maybe i wouldn't had gotten so upset. Not that i said anything to them.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Smelly - Room was good for the price except for the fact that it smelled as if the toilet had only been just flushed after a week or so of accumulating waste; the stench was horrid. After a quarter can of Lysol and letting it air out for 20 minutes it became tolerable. Otherwise, the staff was quite friendly and the room's appearance was good except for some yellow-brown stains on the door.
- sandorae (8/5): - Check in and out was easy. The manager would often walk around checking the grounds and would always ask if we needed anything or if everything was satisfactory. He was very friendly and eager to make our stay the best. The room we had was quiet which we really appreciated. The pool was a nice size too. The continental breakfast lacked but we don’t normally eat breakfast so it didn’t make a difference for us. The motel does need some updates but the room was comfortable and cleaned. Over all we were very satisfied with our stay and plan to book the Winniie Inn again on our next visit.

- Samie (4/5): - For a cheap motel it was in decent condition but I paid for a king size bed , double bed non smoking but instead I got two full size beds and it smelt like a smoking party went on in the room, also the room only had 1 towel and 1 rag , I went and asked the front desk for extra towels since I have 4 people in my room and they told me they didn’t have any extra towels or rags, next morning I went to get there breakfast that they had and literally they didn’t have crap to eat , I watch them fill up the trays with snacks that looked like they came out of the vending machine and the coffee was out so the woman went to the bathroom to get water for the coffee pot ! , how nasty is that ?! Also the gravy they was serving with the nasty looking biscuits was so hot that it was literally burning inside of a small crock pot , then my friend called the front desk because the toilet was stopped up , she asked someone if they could bring a plunger and the woman told her that another room had it that she would call them and tell them to put it outside of there door for she could go get it her self and she asked the lady where is the room service lady’s and she said she didn’t know but when she walked out the door to go get the only plunger for another customers room , all of the cleaning service lady’s where standing outside in the parking lot and she told them she needed the plunger and they didn’t care so she had to go get it her self and plung the toilet, crappy Place!!!

- joseph (8/5): ok stay - Pros: Clean room...Staff was cordial and helpful, No coffee maker, iron nor ironing board in room, called front desk and the young Hispanic girl clerk brought them to our room. ... Bed comfortable. Easy to find. Cons: Floor had lots of bumps, like it had gotten wet and had swollen in certain area, hard on feet even though we wore sandals. Breakfast not so good, frozen biscuits, stale pastries, weak coffee, no fruit. Heat was hard to adjust, was either too hot or too cold...finally after 6 or 7 tries we got it to where it was bearable. Office chair was torn, needed to be replaced. Easy chair was heavily soiled and nasty, had to cover it with towels before sitting on it.

It was booked at the last minute and considering the fact that everything in this area is booked due to Harvey's devastation, I was thankful to get it. Nothing negative to say as it was quiet, clean and comfortable! That met my needs to a tee!

- kate (6/5): Meh - Definitely an older hotel but the room smelled, beds we're not comfy, took a long time to cool the room off( this was Texas in the summer tho), was hoping for an old school drive up motel like the 60/70s. Did like parking at the door, did not feel unsafe, no weird people walking around, the clerk did say they had an unexpected shortage of employees so I will probably try here again in the future. Looks like they are trying to keep it up.

Nice grounds, very clean picnic area to sit at or bbq. Continental breakfast was limited to biscuits and bread, some apples, a few cereal choices, coffee and juice. I would stay again, good price for a clean room. Shower head was very low, water hit at shoulders and I'm only 5 feet tall.

I am a single mom and was traveling with my daughter. We felt completely safe. The fact that they are pet friendly was also wonderful. I would definitely stay again.

- Joanna (10/5): Great little place! Clean and the price is great! - We WILL be back! This motel is older and only one floor, but it is extremely well kept. Clean and crisp, inside and outside. The desk personnel and housekeeping were all very friendly. Upon check-in she immediately gave me extra towels, assuming when she saw my teens they would want to swim. My family and I felt very safe and never noticed any noise from the lot or adjacent rooms. It is an older, smaller motel, but every bit as clean and comfortable as rooms I normally pay double or more for. Many restaurants in walking distance. We ended up falling in love with Crystal Beach and stayed here 2 extra nights. Which was no big deal considering we were paying less than half what I am accustomed to paying. The ONLY issue we really encountered was when it came to electronics. Obviously, when this motel was built, there were no iPads, iPhones, etc. therefore there were not sufficient plugins. With 2 teens and myself and my husband and our devices... Well, we unplugged the lamps, clocks, more lamps and even the hair dryer to accommodate our charging needs. The plugs were there, you just had to be creative and hope you didn't need them, or the lamps, during the night. Maybe come prepared with a multiple plug outlet adapter? And 1 other *tiny* thing; the shower head. I'm only 5'9", but pointing the head straight out as high as it would go hit square in my chest. It was quite an exercise doing backbends to wash my hair! But that's just little things. Overall, great motel, very pleased!
