Guest Reviews
- Wesley (2/5): - I stayed for three nights, and during two of the days, serious problems occurred but there was no help at all.
On the first night, the air conditioner was broken. The capsule was as hot as a coffin. I asked for help, but no one responded. I tried to reach the hotel staff through Expedia — I’m not sure if they didn’t notice or just ignored it — but there was no reply until around three in the morning. By then, I had already gone with other guests to spend the night at a nearby internet café. The hotel refused to give a refund and only said they would offer me a one-night voucher for future use. But I have no idea when I’ll visit Taipei again, and in the end, I didn’t even know how to receive the voucher — so it just ended without any result.
Once might be an accident, but twice isn’t. On the second night, I changed to another capsule, but on the third night, the machine inside kept making strange “tapping” sounds from time to time. I couldn’t sleep at all. Again, no one replied until three in the morning. Luckily, I had my NC head phone but the sleep can't be good with the hurge head-phone attached.
I can only say I a luck that there are no fire incident from the broken capsule.
I am so afraid.
- wen-jie (10/5): - Clean and accessible
- wen-jie (8/5): - Some pods smell really new, it would be nice if that smell can be improved a bit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and will stay here again - This capsule hotel is perfectly located as it’s right across the street from the subway station, making it incredibly convenient. The bus network to Taipei is also amazingly frequent and easy to access right in front of the subway entrance. It's next to SanHe Night Market and surrounded by famous local food vendors in Sanchong, making this place a paradise for food lovers. The hotel is great value for money given its prime location, accessibility, and facilities. One thing I wish I knew prior to check-in was to bring a towel as it’s not provided.
- Matthew Aaron (10/5): - Great stay
- Kevin (10/5): Good value - Cool experience staying in the capsule. The main downside compared to a traditional hostel is that I didn't see my roommates at all - everyone gets into their capsule and there's little interaction. It could have just been the people that were there at that time, but I think a capsule is great if you're looking for privacy and not so good if you're looking to interact with fellow travellers. The common area was fine, with a decent view. Bathrooms were big. The lockers are not in the room, which is a bit of a pain, but not a major issue. Right across from an MRT station. Good value.
- William (8/5): - It's to try this capsule cabin, it had the privacy of sleep and it's cool inside, unfortunately, the tv isn't working and the door won't lock well, overall it's a good place for solo travelers.
- Wen-Jie (10/5): - the capsules are quiet unique in Taipei
- Zachary (10/5): - Really great beds in a really great neighborhood in 新北市. Capsules provide privacy and are convenient. Tons to do around the property.
- Grant (8/5): - Broken washing machines
- Benjamin (8/5): - A few problems with electronic key card system(took like a minute to unlock bed), but was very comfy and staff was very nice. Capsule had a lot of privacy
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location and friendly staff - The location is very convenient. Only 5 mnt walk across from Taipei Bridge MRT. There is 7/11 that open 24h behind the train station. But hey bear also sells tooth brush, small towel, and instant noodle for very cheap price at the front desk. Imo, they could give the small towel, tooth brush and tooth paste as a welcome kit.
Its also near Sanhe night market that open at 6pm.
The staffs Friendly. They available between 10am-8pm. You can ask them to keep your luggage if you need to roam the city before you check in at 3. They have locker that can fit a carry on and a small back pack. So if you have big suitcase, you have to either leave it near the locker area or put it by your capsule.
The wash room (shower&toilet) can use a little cleaning and good ventilation. The walls and ceiling very dusty. Since its a communal shower. The smell linger for a while if someone took a dump. Other than that, everything else is clean. Water pressure is good. They provide shampoo and body wash on each shower.
The bed, pillow and blanket are comfy and clean. Door to the room need to to be greased. It creaks everytime someone in and out.
Dining area is clean. It has microwave and hot/cold water dispenser. It also has coin washer and dryer. But the washer was broken during my stay.
Overall my stay in hey bear was a pleasant. Definitely will go back if i visit Taipei again.
- cat (10/5): - Very close to metro , and nice food option around .. easy check in and check out with nice staff members
- MICHAEL (8/5): - I like capsule hotels. This one had everything I need especially a microwave which most hostel neglect to have nowadays. Capsule need a deep cleaning, safe never work and toilets and showers where not cleaned during my 2 days there (it's seems like it). Still overall it was a good stay I'd recommend
- Cristofer (6/5): - The capsules were nice and clean. My complaint is that the bathrooms were not clean. Tiles were dirty! Every surface in the bathroom was dirty. The toilets also do NOT allow you to flush toilet paper, which is really gross, so you have to throw your used toilet paper in the garbage. No bidets in the toilets either. Music was maddening. Fun experience but definitely not for someone who needs things very clean.
- Mingkhwan (10/5): - Good ,cozy, and clean. I would to recommend this hostel. And I will return again.
- Cheng (8/5): Location is good but Hostel service so so. - Location is close to a night market, many local food in this area, on same building of This hostel, has a super market at B2, Only think is that when check, luggage can only store till 6pm. After that will be charge. Although it won’t affect me but still find that for ppl has a late night flight may has some issue, safe box in capsule is not working, capsule has a tv but very difficult to use, try to ask the counter staff but sound not very willing to teach me.
- Isaac (8/5): - I like how quite it is, clean and close to train stop, I recommend it.
It was my first hostle experience and it was pleasant
- Verified traveler (8/5): Worth a look - Hotel was clean, the check-in and check-out processes were easy, and the guests were polite. The capsule doors are unfortunately very thin and noisy; the hotel staff recommended keeping valuables in the lockers instead of in the capsules! Note that you will hear each time someone enters the shared room and each time a capsule is opened and closed. However, for the price that I paid (~500 NT for a night), I was satisfied with the value.
- unplugged92 (10/5): - Obviously this is not a 5 star hotel, but for what you're paying it is an amazing bang for the buck. It's only a little bit more expensive than a hostel but you're getting complete privacy while you're sleeping. If you don't need all the amenities of a private hotel room, you might as well stay at a capsule hotel like Heybear and save some money on your trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So convenient cuz very near to MRT.
Staff was helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - because it's a capsule hotel, i liked how the capdule works.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - ที่พักสะอาดเดินทางสะดวกใกล้รถใต้ดิน ใกล้ตลาดกลางคืน
- BC (6/5): - pro: next to a subway station, located in a busy area that access to many shops, close to a night market; fairly cheap;
cons: shower room wasn't as clean; I stayed on 9th floor and the men's room has 2 shower rooms only, it could be a bit of hassle at night when everyone wanted to take shower; I wasn't really able to lock my capsule - I was able to just force open the capsule's door without using my card key;
- Hopper (8/5): - New experience is good but stinky shoes in a small confined sleeping room is a big issue.
- Apple (4/5): - Toilet is not enough. No tissues provided. No amenities provided.
Disappointed cleanliness.
Door lock is hard to open
Air con in the capsule is too cool
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Noisy because sharing room with 6 persons
People come and go late night time, making to much noice
- RL (8/5): - ฝุ่นเยอะในแคปซูล ห้องน้ำมีกลิ่นบ้าง ห้องอาบน้ำเสียหลายห้อง
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good hostel near subways but some stuff can’t speak English but he cute
- Lonewolf (10/5): - Location is great, just across from MRT. Hope there is a microwave in the kitchen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hostel was very clean. Close to MRT easy to get around
- Desmond (10/5): - Great place to stay in!!! Very convenient. Accessible to anywhere as the mrt was within 2min walk. Recommended for those who are on budget and don’t mind sharing with others. Staff is helpful. You can literally rest and relax over there. Definitely will come back to here should there be another trip going to Taiwan!!!
- Jeffrey (10/5): - The capsule room is amazingly designed, super comfy and super clean! The staff are friendly, amenities at level 8 is a lot!
- James (8/5): - The location, it is very near to the MRT station; the concept of the design, fun, youthful and futuristic; safe and security, I don't need to worry about the privacy. The staff are very efficient and polite.
- Selina (8/5): - I honestly really like it. It's really affordable, relatively clean. The staffs are friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All staff of this place were so kind, I really appreciated. My room was very clean. I would stay at Heybear again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hostel is at the 8-10th floor of some building in Taipei, MRT Taipei Bridge Station is just across the street, literally., where you can change to purple line (to and from the Taoyuan Airport) at Sanchong MRT station. Family mart, and 7 11 are just a stone throw away. Bus stops to the city central and Keelung are in a walking distance.
The capsule is very comfortable and clean. The hostel is really quiet. Toilet and bathroom are clean, with hot water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy to find, right in front of MRT. Safe and clean, just perfect if you want to save budget on your trip.
- PUH SHYAN (10/5): Good capsule hotel - The location is good as just opposite to the Taipei Bridge MRT. The hotel is clean and cozy in the lobby area. The staff is friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The mattress is way too thin and it can be quite uncomfortable after a few nights
- Roel (10/5): Great stay - Excellent and accommodating staffs. Had a late night flight and staffs allowed me to store my luggage so I can shop some souvenirs and until I leave for Taipei Airport.
Capsule was clean. I can see how housekeeper maintain the cleanliness of the capsules.
- Cait (6/5): - The staff was really nice and the location was conveniently near a MRT station! But the showers and bathroom were a little dirty, and they don’t give you towels or slippers or any amenities.
- KengSiang (8/5): - Convenient & close to train station & plenty of food & convenience stores
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No individual lift, had to shared with the whole building.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Still a great place to stay, though going to Taipei Bridge Station is a pain as ever, the hostel is just adjacent from the exit.
Some patrons are pretty rowdy/unhygienic so if you can’t tolerate these then go elsewhere.
Otherwise the capsules are the AWESOME and spacious. Toilets are acceptable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Interesting set up - Set up was interesting. We were 11 in our group so it helped that we had our own capsules. The bathroom can get a little dirty during “rush hour” (big shared one). The dimsum place across the street was awesome! But overall location is far from the action.
- No (10/5): - Excellent capsule hotel. Fun and relaxing. Staff and overall is great
- Suzzanne (8/5): Very clean and nicely equipped - Very clean and the capsules were very well equipped and private. Only downside was probably can get a bit stuffy inside the capsule as the air flow isn’t great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - good for solo travellers, efficient staff, clean basic facilities, comfy capsule. Near train station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel and very close access to local stuffs such as night markets
- sarawadee (6/5): - The hostel very near metro station and convenience store, Room and toilet it's okay. We'll recommend with our friends in TH :)
- Kenny (10/5): School exchange programme - Excellent service. A very nice capsule hotel. Feel like in cabin space.
- a (8/5): - 隔音不是很好, 整晚聽了下鋪打呼聲沒睡好. 10F男生衛浴間有股異味, 9F更是異味濃厚, 住了兩晚, 情況都差不多沒改善.
- Aun (8/5): Nice hostel with good price - I love this hostel, almost everthing is excellent but only 1 staff who were in charged on the date I checked in, he has no service mind at all, but the rest of them are very excellent in serving.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Would be great if the staffs were trained! Service varies lots, and the person (fatter guy) is very rude and dress very sloppy.
The room is wet and feels dirty because of the sweaty smells. The bathroom is ok clean and so however.
- Lee (10/5): - Very comfortable hostel with excellent facilities and entertainment. Strategic location, just right opposite Taipei Bridge MRT station and walking distance to night market.
- ail (8/5): heybear hotel - the hotel is a certified clean. have a helpful receptionist. nice airconditioned. nice toilet. nice lobby. nearest to train taipei bridge station. the one i only dont want is the location of the hotel downstairs are not so cool to look. the street looks like in a 3rd class hotel.
- Tia (8/5): - great area, so easy to get to MRT, great staff, just remember to bring an extra pillow
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was freat and comforatble to stay here for my day off. Nice place and falcilities were sufficiient.
- Luisa (10/5): Great Stay - Great little capsule. Place was clean and convenient to downtown and shopping. Definitely worth the price. Would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fun themed hostel - Quirky hostel experience, loved every part of it.
Check in was smooth, hotel staff friendly.
Good location, close to MRT and right by the Sanhe Night Market.
Clean shared facilities i.e. toilets, bathroom, lockers, general area.
Sleeping pods large and spacious, with TV and lights on the inside. Only problem, slightly cold, otherwise, pretty comfortable.
- Shaine (10/5): Excellent - Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. All of the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice.
- Hooi Chew (8/5): - Overall is ok, but the wifi connection have to improve, good location, friendly staff
- Lexy (10/5): Very cool experience - I've never even heard of a capsule hotel before until my brother told me about it, it looked so cool I was intrigued to try it out! I stayed for 1 night for the experience, and I am happy to say it did not disappoint. It felt like I was in outer space! I was worried I would feel claustrophobic but I did not get that sense at all, it felt really roomy actually. I am 5'4" and I was really comfortable. I could even sit upright and have space above my head. The lights functions were great, I loved the mirror light especially, and of course the blue back light that made me feel like I was in an outer space sleeping pod. It was awesome. The only small problem was the airflow...it was a bit stuffy in the capsules even with the ac vent, and I went in the winter months (February), so I can imagine it to be worse in the summertime. The room was also a bit stuffy and can smell a little bit since there are so many people in such a confined space. But overall, everything was clean and easy to access, the staff were friendly, check in and check out was easy. I read the reviews ahead of time so I knew to bring a towel, since I read that the towel you can purchase there is a small one! Shampoo and body soap is provided in the showers, I purchased conditioner from the lobby, which was surprisingly effective. I was very satisfied with my stay and only wish that I could stay another night!
- Verified traveler (8/5): very good - It is so comfortable. It only takes 2 or 3 min to mrt station.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I have visited on 6-9 Jan, it was great, i wanna buy water proof stock but i dont know where to buy, staff try to google and get store.
- Heidi (8/5): Surprisingly spacious and private - More spacious than you think and felt rather private despite being in a dorm room. Would recommend and stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfy, cheap, and clean. Only complaint is mild humidity in the rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Girls - clean! Guys - needs improvement - I had a pleasant stay in my capsule, the female bathrooms were fairly clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and the lobby area was clean! My boyfriend on the other hand found stained sheets in his capsule, and the men's room was poorly maintained, dirty/smelly consistently over 4 days. Perhaps could have improved with an extra cleaning service throughout the day? The staff were quick to replace the sheets so we were thankful for that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): You get what you need! - Good for solo and simple traveller
- Max (8/5): Close to MRT and Good Food - My stay at this hostel was nice. Most of the staff can speak at least a little bit of English. At least one staff member was excellent at English and very helpful.
The capsules are clean and roomy for one person and a bag and some other loose items (clothing or other small items). There is also a personal locker for bigger items. The personal lock box in the capsule is a nice touch as you can personalize the four digit code for your passport, money, other things (the space is fairly big). The length of the capsule is 200cm. I am 204cm, so I could not stretch out, but the world just isn't made for tall people!! The length is good very most people. I used the TV only once, but it comes with a clean headset for quiet viewing. There are channels in English including CNN.
The bathrooms were clean. The toilet clogged on the 9th floor where I was staying on the first night, but there are two more toilets on the 10th floor to use. The showers are roomy and include body soap and shampoo which is great! You must bring a towel though. If you don't have one you can easily buy one nearby for cheap. You can buy any travel items nearby for a very low price. There is a dollar store type place, pharmacy, many food places (traditional Taiwanese food, KFC, MO's burger, MacDonald's, 7-11, etc.) all within a block of the hostel.
It is so convenient to have the Taipei Bridge Station MRT across the street. There is also an ATM in the MRT. Buying an easy pass at the MRT is the best.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing - Amazing with reasonable price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Definitively recommend. Good location and clean. - Overall excellent. I definitively recommend to anyone but staff should improve their English and customer service.
- Nick (8/5): - Everything is good but in the room is too humid. And staffs are nice and friendly.
- Scott (10/5): - Nice hotel quite hard to find off the main street and on the 8th floor
- Linda (8/5): Great location and comfortable bed - My first capsule would randomly unlock itself while I was inside and at first I thought someone was trying to get in. It would wake me up and I couldn't get back to sleep which is not good. Staff moved me to another capsule, but this one wouldn't lock at all. 3rd one had issues where it would not unlock from the inside, which was the worst of all three! Aside from the locking/unlocking issues, this is an awesome, clean, quiet place to stay. The bathrooms were very nice and the lockers are huge. Great location near the subway and really fun night market. Staff doesn't speak a lot of English, but they keep trying with a smile til it's all figured out.
- JEFF (10/5): Nice and secure - Each capsule feels like a personal bomb shelter. Locking metal doors. TV on one side. Equiped with AC system like the ones in the car. Shared bath. One flaw, no public microwave to heat up leftovers.
- Leah (10/5): The best! - Really liked the place. Well maintained and super comfortable especially for first-timers! Really good quality for a cheap, affordable price. Would recommend and try it again if ever I go back to Taiwan.
- taipeitoinker (10/5): good place - fun
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a pleasant stay during 4 nights. There are 4 capsule rooms per room although you get all the necessary privacy you'd expect from a common single private room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient hotel - Rooms are new, the environment is clean and tidy, beds are quite spacious. Just opposite the MRT station
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome capsules! - As first-timer of using hostel, staying at capsules is the best options. With the hostel-based experience, I still got my privacy inside my capsule, which is nice. Moreover, the security is quite good, as we need to scan our card to access the capsules, locker, room and even bathroom. The location is so close with MRT station. It's clean and nice! Will definitely stay here again if visiting Taipei next time.
- pedro (10/5): close to train station - a little hard to find maybe because we got there very late at night but it was literally 5 steps from the train station so location was pretty good
- CC (8/5): First Capsule Stay - I would have to say better than I expected. The cleaning lady cleans everything very clean. Although that guys in the reception was a bit lay back. Our capsule couldn't close, he was just gonna brush us off. Heck no! The lady in reception was nice and changed the capsule for us. That dude in the reception... BTW, you may think young people log here, but no... Many old folks
- Ken (8/5): Convenient location, WiFi to Ben inproved - Just opposite to the Metro station. A very clean and tidy hostel. It provides the shampoo and soap in the public bathroom. The towels and slippers are provided with paid on demand. Lockers provided can suit a hand-carry suitcase.
Strength of Wifi signal very depends on your room location, I can bearly connect to the Wifi and often disconnect, but in the corridor the signal seems strong.
In bed I need to rely on my cellular signal which with limited quota.
- Joyce (10/5): Very high level of security for ladies - Heybear is the best capsule hotel for ladies; it has a floor just for women (with front desk next to the entrance); and nearly all entrances including bathroom and your own capsule cannot be entered without scanning your room key card. Highly recommend :)
- andrew (10/5): great for the price - My only problem was the small size of the men's bathroom on my floor, only 2 showers and 2 stalls one traditional, one western, otherwise this pod hotel is tops
- Vladimir (10/5): One night in the capsule. - Great place to spend a night. I found it to be in a wonderful location. Great overall atmosphere - and the staff were friendly and accessible. Great facilities.
- Fiqo / Chico (8/5): The best capsule hotel ever! - I've been to capsule hotels in Japan and Korea before and I think Heybear Capsule Hotel, Taipei is the best capsule hotel that I've been so far! The thing that I like the most is that each capsule has it's own lock and safe box. TV at each capsule is also bigger than the one in Japan and Korea. Overall, I am very pleased with the hotel.
- Agnes (10/5): Clean capsule hotel - Love this place, few minutes walk away from metro, super clean including the room and washroom. Relatively spacious (personally). I do recommend for people traveling alone.
- Ka Hing (8/5): Slightly disappointed - The room is smelly because of bad ventilation, but that smell is still fine and endurable for me.The locker is middle size so I do not recommend you to bring a big luggage box, but there are some space for you to keep your luggage box in your room, I also saw some people do so due to the size of the box is too large. If you find that you forgot to bring along your towel, brush, comb, you can buy them in the checkin counter and the price is very acceptable, just NT10-20.Also, it's extremely close to the metro, you only have to walk within one minute neglecting the traffic.
- Mina (10/5): Super cool - Super cool hostel. The capsules are spacious and has everything you need, they even lock! The hostel has a friendly atmosphere and a good location. The orange line is a block away. There's lots of restaurants in the local area and a night market within walking distance. Great place to stay in Taipei.
- Roberto (8/5): - The capsule was a good experience but the wifi in sure does not work. Staff is very friendly. You get a locker so you can put your suitcase or back pack
- Hawaii Mike (4/5): Electrical Malfunction. Trapped in Bathroom - A key card is used to access elevator, room, capsule, and bathroom. I had an
incident where i was able to enter the restroom, but upon exiting, the door wouldnt open. From that point, no one could enter or exit. A few guests and myself was trapped for about 10 minutes, until it opened after much banging on the door. I notified the staff, but no apology was given.
Another incident occurred during checkout, which is at 11a.m. Having a few minutes to spare, i went and got breakfast, and made it to my room at 10:56a.m. However, the keycard wouldnt work. I was told that keys reset after 11a.m, which i understand but to reset before the checkout time? Come on!
- Veron (6/5): Convenient location - The hotel is very convenient in terms of transportation. The MRT station just located across the road. There's also a night and morning market which is about 5 minutes from the hotel and lots of street foods can be found there. Room and accessible area are clean and tidy. The only downside is that the room is quite noisy and may not getting good sleep. Some room mates may not be considering and talk loudly in the midnight. This is pretty annoying. Overall is still OK to stay for budget traveler.
- Peter (10/5): futuristic capsules! - very modern and great value for money. first time in such an interesting hostel would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): technical problems - Overall the hotel is clean and comfort to stay, but there are a few technical problems of the capsule, such as some of the doors cannot be properly close, and it will automatic open after few after few minutes although i never push the open button. A lot of the TVs have problems, after plug in the ear set, there are still voices coming out from the TV, some even don't has any voice at all; Some receptionist can't answer simple question on where to take a bus to airport, since they have so many guests from foreign countries, they should have this kind of simple guidance on hand. Despite of all these problems, it is still a nice and comfort place to stay.
- fwyc and j (10/5): Way bigger capsule then you think - Amazing experience with the excellent capsule and met a Korean roommate too. Staff were all extremely friendly and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone reading this ! Each time I go to Taiwan I would go back!
Ps: across the street is the subway, basement is supermarket, next street has night market and just in front of the building day and night there's local food
- Tuomas (10/5): Great value! - Great value for money. Capsule was very clean with privacy.
There is only 2min walk to nearest Metro station and a lot of cheap food available nearby.
I will stay here again on my next visit to Taipei!
- Marcus (10/5): Nice and clean capsule hotel - I stayed here twice, once for one night and later for 5. Each room is filled with 6-10 capsules and each capsule has all the comfort I needed. However, this does not mean that you cannot hear the other people in the room. They were clean and bright and relatively (for a capsule) spacious. Common bathrooms were very clean and the Wi-Fi was running fast. In the neighborhood are enough food stalls and a night market, so it is not a big issue that the hotel does not feature any food or drink options.
I recommend this place for anybody on a small budget looking for at least a minimal amount of privacy.
