Matt (10/5): - We had a great stay at Highlands Campground in New Glasgow, PEI. The facilities were spotless, thanks to hardworking staff. The cabin was clean, spacious, and simple, with bunk beds and a queen bed. You bring your own dishes and small appliances, which worked fine for us. The campground has a saltwater pool and is popular with young families in peak season, but during our off-season visit it was peaceful and quiet. The location made it easy to explore the whole island. Highly recommended for a clean and convenient base on Prince Edward Island.

You may want to bring your own bedding and pillows (although they did provide linens, pillows, and blankets), for extra comfort. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the location is gorgeous! Thanks for a relaxing stay!

Christina (10/5): Wonderful quiet camp on Bear River - We had an amazing 1 night stay. Arrived past check in time and communicated via phone and email approximate time of arrival. Was not a problem for Cathy. We were greeted by the kindest and friendliest staff. The little cabin was ok for my husband,teen daughter and myself. I would reserve a larger cabin on the water or awesome Domes they have next time. Soon a ship will be avaliable as well,Excellent,clean bathrooms close to our unit. There are more washrooms and showers close by as well. Office/store had camp wood,snacks,supplies and activities if needed.

She was really nice and gave us one obviously not ready for living yet: the door cannot lock and with holes, worms on the bed … The owner did provide sheet etc. that was really good since we didn’t know. Not sure who to blame? Expedia?

Gale (2/5): - Customer Beware!! The cabin offers NOTHING. No sheets, no towels, no dishes, pans or silverware and NO BATHROOM in the cabin. Costs money daily to use the grill that sits on the porch. Essentially, it is a wooden tent with a bed.

Nadene (10/5): - This place is fabulous!! Located right on the river, charming and wonderful owners! I was running late and called to say that I couldn't make it inside check in hours. Cathie, one of the owners was super friendly and was waiting for me when I arrived. I stayed in a dome which was beautifully decorated with lovely furniture and drapes,and outfitted with everything I needed – a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee maker, dishes. A nice touch was a soft electric blanket on top of a very comfortable bed. I will definitely recommend this place and come back again!

The cabins were a great overall option to tenting, but if you have kids afraid of bugs, you should probably look at a hotel or an inn elsewhere. Honestly, for what it was, the price was a little high in comparison to orher accomodations in motels with AC and full service, but i crack that to the demand due to Warf Rat Rally. Ill definitely consider it for next year.

Verified traveler (6/5): - We stayed in an A frame which was not on the water. The building did not look like the pictures in the booking. The cabin was clean with a bed that we brought sheets for. There was a blanket. No frig. there was a microwave. There were yurts with decks on the river's edge. Since we were away from the water, we walked over to a yurt that was being assembled and sat on that deck to watch the reversing tide on Bear River. Drove a short distance to Digby for scallops and fish and chips. Very good.

Also, the neighbors next to the property had dogs barking all night long, was hard to fall asleep. Other than that the service was really good, but we did have to pay extra to use the bbq.
Sue (6/5): - This is an interesting overnight stop. Bearing in mind, the theme is based on 'campng', there are no usual amenities such as luxury bedding. No water in the room. no in room bathing or toilet facilities. However, if you arrive with the right mindset, you will enjoy the location and views. Just bring your own soap and other luxuries

Watching the tide enter and exit the river,the stripped bass breaking the surface. Very nice view. The hosts there are absolutely amazing!!! Very friendy and accommodating. There is also basic necessities at the office to purchase.also kayak and canoe rentals. A must go to place. We are definately going back!!

We had deluxe cabin, it was so comfy for 3 people.Bathrooms are shared as in any campsite, kept very clean. Flush toilet, sinks and showers..i would love to stay longer. Definetly a sweet spot.

The kindling was a bit large (we didnt have an axe) but we were able to make a nice fire regardless. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Very affordable pricing as well!
Brittany (10/5): - It was very nice and quiet was a little disappointing at first as the ad didn’t state there was two lofts the one I booked we didn’t get, but the loft with cottage the second one we got, the view was excellent and we loved it. Just wish the ad stated both is all. But definitely loved the stay the management and customer service is excellent! Very nice camping ground !
rachel (10/5): - We stayed in one of the cabins for 2 nights on our Nova scotia road trip! It was absolutely beautiful and cozy! The cabin had a deck with table and chairs over looking the bear river. The cabins do not have plumbing but the showers and toilets are very close. We found the beds and pillows very comfortable. The managment was great! Check in was easy and she was very accommodating. She helped us get set up and even had a few outdoor games for my daughter to play with. I would definitely camp here again!
Erinne (6/5): - This was a really quiet little place tucked away down by the river. It looks like they’re in the middle of doing some big improvements on the property, but right now it’s a bit of a mess. I stayed in one of the old cabins which was very rustic, which is fine, but it needed a deep clean and some repairs. It was pretty clear the floor hasn’t been swept or washed for a long time and there were spider webs in the corners and on the ceiling above the bed. Everything looked like it was from the 60s. A good clean and since updating would go a long way because it’s otherwise a beautiful little spot to enjoy.

I rolled in by bike and the closest places for food was .5 miles away but it looks like this site is trying to get a general store open on the property. That will be great once the do. Other then that, the room was clean and bed was comfortable. It was also really quiet here too. Nice place.
Louise (8/5): Little cabin by the water - The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. New management and it needs a few upgrades. Very rustic and warming ambiance. The Bear River from our porch was very interesting to watch to almost no water to a full river as the tide went in and out. Overall, was very nice.
Helen (8/5): - A special place that is undergoing renovations. The unit was newly done and the property is being overhauled. All staff were great and very helpful. Only a short drive to Digby where there is amazing seafood.

bea (2/5): - while this campground has potential, it was under construction while we were there, we were not informed of this before check-in. We were put in a cabin in the construction zone. Noise and building supplies laying around our cabin. Mud and road ruts. Loss of power numerous times. Also, we were asked 5 times to cancel our Expedia reservation so the owners wouldnt have to pay their fee. I would not stay this particular campground again.
Kathleen (4/5): - I booked a cottage to stay in with a loft and was told the day before I got their that the “roof” was leaking and they had to fix it so we couldn’t be in and offered us a dome to sleep in which was a mistake so many bugs spent half the night being eaten alive literally by bugs and to find out that the cottage i pre booked was given to someone else a family of 5 can’t sleep comfortably in a dome

It looks like some of the property is a work in progress , debris lying around and things just not looking finished / professional. Also one shower had very little water pressure. Overall we had a great stay and i think it would be a terrific place if a few details were taken care of. The lady we delt with was very pleasant and helpful. Personally i think the cabins should be listed by their numbers and not a name ( standard, deluxe etc.) Or both,So you know exactly which one you were booking. We had a pleasant stay and i would probably go back.

Lexanne (8/5): - We totally enjoyed our 2 week stay in a Millyard cottage. Bob, the owner & host, is terrific, full of information & stories about the area and property, if you care to engage him. Sitting on the cabin front porch, watching the tide come in or out is relaxing, there's usually a great breeze and lots of birds. The cabins are roomy, comfy, have a fan, small heater, microwave, fridge, coffee maker & BBQ w side burner. Bob will provide dishes & cutlery & other kitchen items upon request. You can ask for bedding or bring you own, but I suggest bringing your own towels and pillows. The cabins were not dirty, but I must say there were cobwebs in the rafters and dust on the furniture. However, I later learned that Bob was without a housekeeper during our stay, since resolved. The cabins themselves have no running water, there's an outside tap & hot water in the washrooms, you carry it back for dishes or coffee. There is 1 central building with 4 exterior doors, 2 private washrooms & 2 private showers. Their condition is ok. The wifi and cell service is spotty, mostly unreliable. This is true for the whole Bear River area and certainly nothing against Bob, who is trying everything to improve wifi service. The best spot is right in front of the office where he has a table, chairs & an awning, so certainly not an unpleasant place to use your phone. This place is fabulous as long as you understand what is being provided. I would absolutely stay again.
morgan (10/5): - The cabins are adorable, and situated to be pretty private, despite being relatively close together, and the river is super cool. Shared flush toilets and showers are clean. They prefer you bring your own sheets. I had a great time there and would recommend it to anyone who wants a chill, no frills, inexpensive getaway. Cooking is limited to BBQ and microwave, but there is a good sized mini-fridge, and there are decent grocery shopping amenities in Digby, so if you plan well, cooking is easy. You need to go to the area around the office to get a wifi signal, but that is only a max 3 min walk from anywhere on the property. Cell service is spotty. Verified traveler (10/5): - Bob’s cabins are an absolute privledge and delight. I can’t recommend this spot enough! We came in late and Bob was kind enough to be waiting on the main road to flag us down. He built these cabins himself and spared no expense! Our cabin boasted a beautiful covered seating area overlooking the water with a personal BBQ. Inside was cozy, warm, clean, and quaint. Lovely atmosphere and finishes. To top it all off, we ended our stay with a quick trip to the antique shop in the main office. A great way to end off the trip with a souvenir from bear river! Overall the property was rich in local small town charm and the host Bob has plenty of local knowledge and ties to the area. A really great place to stop and take in the area.
Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the scenery. Just beautiful! Bob was absolutely amazing, we didn’t bring an axe and he went out and bought one. Very rustic. If your expectations are of the Hilton then this may not be for you. Cottages are adorable and the view is breathtaking. We have booked in July and October. Loved it!
