• David (8/5): - This is a nice small quiet resort, the location is odd and the enterance is very easy to miss. it is set back far enough from the main road, so they rooms are very quite and secluded. The staff are all extremley helpful. Rooms are well kept and very clean. Signiture SPa treatment was fairly good.

• JEONGSOO (10/5): - I’ve stayed at over 30 world-renowned hotel brands through Hotels.com, but this one was by far the best. When I told them I had to leave at dawn and would miss breakfast, they actually prepared a packed meal for me to take. This kind of kindness is something you’d expect only from family—yet they extended it to a random foreigner like me! The facilities, food quality, and overall standard were simply exceptional. As a Korean, I can confidently say that to experience this level of quality back home, you’d easily have to pay at least ten times more. And if you look at the other reviews, they’re all full of praise—because this place truly deserves it.

• Kate Mae (10/5): - We had a great experience at The Samata, from the moment we checked in until we checked out. Communication was clear and the staff accommodated our schedules. We had tours every day so they had our breakfast (included with our package) packed and ready to go prior to us leaving for the day. The rooms were clean, although there were occasional small bugs/lizards. Didn’t really bother us though. Our private 2br villa was spacious and we appreciated the privacy. Location wise, it was about 30-40 mins away from the airport. A little farther to Ubud, so it depends what your itinerary is. Overall, a pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend. Thank you The Samata for making our first time in Bali a great experience!

• christine (10/5): Good value, beautiful place to stay - we stayed for 5 nights and the place is so quiet, not so many guests; in fact we were the only one in breakfast and using the pool. the service was good, however, some server did not speak English, so we had some trouble getting what we wanted at breakfast. overall, it's a good place to stay.

Nach Sanur braucht man ein Taxi 10-30 Minuten, je nach Verkehr. 4-6 Euro. Nur das Europäische Frühstück könnte besser sein. Eier zum Toast und etwas Wurst oder Käse wären schön. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

• Nicole Rebekka (10/5): - Wir waren in einer Villa mit zwei Schlafzimmer und eigenem Pool untergebracht. Die Villa war auch durch den großzügigen Außenbereich sehr groß. Alles toll eingerichtet und sauber. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Duschen ist im großzügigem Badbereich innen und außen möglich. Auch der allgemeine Pool und Liegebereich ist sehr schön. Das gesamte Personal ist sehr freundlich , zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Besonders Angaa war sehr bemüht und hat uns bei der Planung diverser Ausflüge und der Transferbuchung nach Lombok geholfen. Zwe ganzei Tage hatten wir über das Samata einen Driver. Zero hat uns überal sicherl hingeführt, eigene Vorschläge gemacht, geduldig auf uns gewartet wenn wir Strände besuchten und uns verlässlich wieder aufgeladen..Auch das Frühstück im Samata hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt und war mehr als ausreichend. Man konnte jeweils zwischen einem Hauptgang und Dessert sowie einem heißen Getränk und Juice wählen. Alles frisch und appetitlich zubereitet. Wir haben uns alle sehr wohl gefühlt und sollten wir wieder nach Bali kommen dann wird das Samata unsere Unterkunft sein!

It was at full capacity on some days and yet quiet and peaceful! I love that you can be as social or as private as you like here. The ocean and rice fields make for a charming view- ask for the Ocean View Suite on the top floor to get the most of it. But best, it is located in Sanur so central to all the different tourist sites and places. You will need to drive/ cab it from here rather than be able to walk to these. But apps like Grab keep thungs convenient and well within your budget. The restaurant serves a decent selection at great prices (I saw restaurants across Bali charging way more than room service here!). Food is delicious and healthy. Great place and wonderful staff. Gentle and kind, and always with an answer to your next question about Bali. Perfect place to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit.
• Stephanie (8/5): - I stood here for one night and absolutely loved it. The staff were so friendly and polite, and helped me carry my bags upstairs. They also asked me the night before what I would like for breakfast, and if I wanted it taken up to my room, as well as what time. (And the breakfast was delicious). The bathroom amenities were a nice touch, as I got an all natural bar of soup which smelled wonderful, as well as herbs for a bath soak, and other things available upon request (comb, toothbrush..etc). The room was very beautiful and clean, with great air conditioning. The only negatives are that the location is off of a main busy highway street (can’t grab a cab easily) and although I had a good nights rest, the bed is a little hard for my liking. Other than these things, my stay was amazing.

The pools were great with hardly anyone else using them. Staff are a stand out, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The food is superb. The only down side is the distance from Sanur and lack of eating places nearby. Taxi was up to forty minutes due mainly to the new port access. That is our bad not the resort. Overall I can’t fault the resort, facilities or staff. We had an amazing time.

The fitness center was out of this world, had everything. The tennis court was private so no onlooker’s could stop and stare, and decent. Not in the greatest shape but got the job done, and, we fixed the net that was gapping at the top. Food from the restaurant was fresh and fabulous, we’ve basically had everything on the menu and was completely satisfied with it.

The pools were lovely, rooms were spacious, and the service is the best in the world. We got daily massages, which were unbelievably great. The restaurant/room service was the best we have had on this trip. I will only stay here when I visit Bali. Bonus: it’s not too far from the airport (unlike some hotels) and was the perfect location to get a head start of you do a day tour of the island. Book The Samata now!!!!

It had a beautiful Spa bathroom, living area, and a huge balcony overlooking the pool, rice paddy and ocean in the background. It was Very Quiet and immaculate. It’s a small private Resort with only about 7 Villas. It is for relaxing and enjoying the Bali Zen. The Staff of 8-9 only want to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. They are the kindest people I’ve met in BALI, and Bali is kind in general. The food was made to order, FRESH, and with great presentation. Every little detail at The SAMATA was well thought. They left me little notes daily, and always greeted me when I returned with honest warmth. They gave me rides to Sanur Beach, and they were waiting for me at the airport when I arrived. It was a wonderful start to my busy vacation. I stayed there so I could take the boats on day trips to the Island of Nusa Penida and Lombardon. The boats leave from SANUR Beach and many people travel 1-2hrs to get there. I missed the SAMATA and the Staff that are Family the day I left. I will continue to go visit them as often as possible. 🙏

The gym and wellness program offers wellness retreat options, if you choose. The staff and boutique size of this property make you feel very special. Highly recommend!

• John (10/5): Lovely views - Very calm, lovely views with rice field and sea in the distance, quiet and ideal to get away from it all! Lovely breakfast too. We had to check out early (unplanned) and the hotel was accommodating in this regard, sorry we couldn't stay longer!
• Nick (10/5): - Amazing stay. The staff were fantastic and the drinks (even those not on the menu that they made for us) were outstanding. Our only issue is that we didn't stay for longer, it'll have to be at least a week next time!
• Haily (10/5): - Amazing facilities and friendly staff. All around wonderful stay. We loved the athletic facilities (pool, gym, tennis court, etc) and made the most if it. The food was also much better than most restaurants that we've had in Bali.
• Emma (10/5): - We booked The Samata last minute due to a failed trip to Nusa Lembongan (because of high tide) never mind not being able to go because we had the most wonderful time here. The grounds at the Samata are so well kept and picturesque with the beautiful rice paddies as a back drop. We had the ocean view suite so a large balcony and amazing view including a large day bed. The room was spacious, the bathroom had a double vanity, bath and waterfall shower head. There was a turn down service at night which is a lovely touch. 3 course healthy meals for breakfast were fantastic, lunch brought to our suite and dinner was very good also. The gym had everything & we did yoga with Bagus on our last morning which was a great ending to a perfect 2 nights stay. Thank you for having us.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - We truly enjoyed our stay at this establishment! The staff was friendly and we could tell that they took an extra effort to ensure that our stay was comfortable and memorable. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa which had incredible views of the rice fields, spacious bedrooms and outdoor bathrooms, an outdoor seating area and kitchen, and a private pool…perfect for a family! The property itself was beautiful and well-maintained; it lived up to its health-conscious philosophy; two public pools, a spacious gym with its own lap pool, and a spa with great massage and treatment options. If there is one aspect of this resort that we would say was perfect, it would be the dining, particularly the breakfast. The food was incredible so much so, we looked forward to waking up at 7am for the three-course breakfasts, which kept us full and energized on our day excursions on the island. The dishes were made with locally sourced and fresh ingredients and there were plenty of options for all diet restraints. If we had to make suggestions for improvement: have the villa bathrooms cleaned more frequently (we visited in a time when it rained on/off throughout the day so the tub always filled with twigs and leaves from the surrounding trees), and have something to cover the space between the doors and the floor (we had to keep the AC unit at a low temperature and on for a long time to cool the room down and to maintain the room temperature). Overall, we had an amazing time staying at the Samata!

We booked the one bedroom villa and the hotel upgraded it to a two bedroom villa. The swimming pool in the our two bedroom villa is really big with beautiful views especially at sunset.

• Emma (10/5): Don't miss this place, it's excellent. - Fantastic staff and a first rate hotel. It's a 10min drive from Sanur, which is the tourist centre. Sanur has lots of restaurants, shops, spas etc.The hotel will drop you off and take a cab back which costs about £3. We preferred staying in the hotel - the food is top notch, 3 pools, lovely peaceful views of the paddy fields, immaculate gardens, very very clean throughout and really excellent service. We almost didn't go because of the volcano but we were SO glad that we did, it was the best holiday we've had in years. We had 2 rooms with private pools and covered seating area which was absolutely perfect for travelling with family or friends. A good in hotel spa, where we had massages and facials. We took their recommendations on local places for manicures and pedicures and to eat including a roadside stall for local food Balanese style. Mainly we preferred eating in the hotel because the food was first rate - a selective and carefully chosen menu catering to a wide range of tastes. It was tailored to our preferences, immaculately prepared and presented. The chef did us a banquet of local food twice during our stay which was fantastic. We also used the gym a lot and did classes in yoga, pilates, tai chi, aqua which were fun. Bagus and his colleague did a great job encouraging us and tailoring the activities to things we could do! My husband and our 2 adult sons really enjoyed trying new things and the staff's help and guidance made a huge difference to this. Bravo!

• Christopher (10/5): Quiet and private - Absolutely amazing place. You hardly see other guests as you feel like the resort is there just for you. The staff is friendly and very nice. The pool is deep and great to swim in. Food was excellent. Sanur is close by which they provide a shuttle to and is probably the nicest place in Bali, less tourists.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel but in the wrong location - We liked the hotel but were very disappointed with the location- it comes to something when local taxi drivers can’t find it! Sanur, which is the nearest tourist spot is a 15 minute taxi ride away. The hotel looks out over worked padi fields, a nice view however planting padi is not just about pretty flooded terraced padi fields; during our stay they were burning off the last harvest so we had lots of smoke. The upside being that the mosquitoes were kept at bay!
• Ben (10/5): Impeccable service - We had the best time at The Samata. The staff are the most friendly people on the planet. We went on a day tour of Bali after we had checked out of the hotel on our last day. When we came back to the front desk to collect our bags at the end of the day, we were surprised that the staff had prepared a new hotel room for us just so we could shower before going to the airport. Talk about world class, exceptional service. Incredible.
• Linda (10/5): Paradise - My group stayed in the 2 bedroom villa. The space was spacious and clean. Check in was easy and the hotel staff is very friendly. The hotel is tucked in an alley with a secured entrance for staff and guest. The location is in a local area however if you hire a driver there should be no issue getting to tourist destinations. The breakfast selection was excellent and the service is outstanding. I would recommend this hotel.
• Jen (10/5): A beautiful, peaceful resort - We stayed at The Samata for our first two nights in Bali before heading inland to Ubud. The drive took about half an hour from the airport. I always hold thumbs on arrival, hoping that the reality on the ground will match my expectations based on photos and reviews I've seen when booking, and thankfully The Samata was exactly what I had hoped for. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful; the rooms and facilities are modern and clean; the staff are friendly and efficient; the restaurant served a varied and interesting menu (we recommend the quinoa porridge for breakfast!) This hotel's point of difference is their emphasis on health, and we really did feel healthier and fitter when we left! In our short stay we managed to fit in a session in the fully-equipped gym (which doesn't seem to get too much use as everything was a bit dusty), a few lengths in the pool, a game of tennis, some healthy meals and two glorious massages. We stayed in the spa suite so our deal included a daily one-hour massage right in our own room! Because of our short stay we never got to the beach which you can apparently walk to. You can see the sea from the hotel and that was enough for us as we acclimatised and relaxed at the start of our Bali holiday. We highly recommend this resort to anyone needing a smaller, peaceful hotel away from the madding crowd, who likes to stay fit and healthy while on holiday.
• Matt and Beth (10/5): As close to perfection as you can get! - We booked the Samata Spa Suite for our Honeymoon and we couldn't have wished for a better hotel! The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, they all went above and beyond everyday from the moment we arrived where we were treated to a welcome drink, flowers for our hair and a cold hand towel which was particularly welcome after a long flight, to the moment we checked out. All the staff are local to Indonesia and really are like a family. We saw the reviews and thought it was too good to be true but it exceeded all our expectations! The food was delicious with a good range of cuisines and very reasonably priced and the complimentary breakfast range was excellent. We loved the little touches like the housekeeping staff leaving a bottle of water by the bedside, the little notes and drawings on our meal receipts, and the turn down services was a delight to return to after a delicious meal. There are three amazing pools and because of the small size of the resort it felt like we had our own private pool as we rarely shared with any other guests. The hotel is like an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of some of the more touristy areas of Bali, but all the main attractions are still very accessible, with transportation arranged via the hotel or just booking a taxi. It's a great place for a few relaxing days by the pool or as we used it, as a base for longer stays while still taking in all that Bali has to offer across the island. We can't wait to come back! :)

The food was delicious, the rooms are beautiful, and we had a very relaxing time. We didn't see a single mosquito the entire 3 days we were there.
• MH (10/5): AMAZING hotel in Sanur with super friendly staff - Was pleasantly surprised by this hotel - very nice environment around the hotel grounds and in the villa. The rooms are well equipped and also very comfortable. Everything is as advertised in the photos on Expedia. The breakfast at the hotel's restaurant was very very impressive since it had a wide range of foods to choose from and all very high quality - we have never been more excited about breakfast in the morning!! The hotel is 10-15 mins drive (longer during rush hours or traffic jam) away from the Sanur city centre, but the hotel does offer free drop-off service at Sanur so all we had to do was hire an uber or cab back to the hotel at the end of the day. Light sleepers beware - the hotel is located next to a rice field and the farmer starts working at around 5 or 6am. The farmer constantly shouts in order to scare away birds - if you're a light sleeper/don't fancy waking up at dawn, this is something to take into consideration. We were woken up by the shouts but weren't too bothered by it because we usually fall back asleep straight away.

• M & M (2/5): Didn't get what we paid for! - Firstly the hotel is located off a busy road in Denpasar, not Sanur. It had an old sign at the entrance with a sheet covering it, really classy! We had booked a 1 bedroom villa with an inside bathroom, photos looked nice and private online but we got a 2 bedroom villa which would cost us extra for the second room, we declined this, and don't appreciate the upselling, seems quite greedy considering what we had paid, they obviously expected us to pay up as our daughters bed had not been set up. The bathroom was outside,old and backed onto the local neighbourhood. You could hear the noise of chickens and families, so relaxing! The room was small and didn't feel clean. The pool area was large, very windy, exposed and didn't feel safe or private. When we told them we were leaving they wanted us to wait for the room we originally booked. Check in is 3pm and our room still wasn't ready 2 hours later. We decided to leave and checked into reliable, honest accommodation elsewhere. The photos aren't a true picture of the hotel, they only post what they want you to see.

Room, view, food, swimming pools and most importantly the staff are amazing, nothing too much trouble, always there to help, my little boy loved all the attention! I wish I was still there, fingers crossed we will go back one day! A little bit of paradise!
• Maria (10/5): calm resort, friendly staff and memorable holiday - We spent our honeymoon at the Samata. They got in touch with us directly as soon as we have booked. We had to fill a small profile about us and inform about our preferences and pick-up, which I found very personal and welcoming. When we arrived, a pick-up waited for us and we received an upgrade for the occasion of our honeymoon. We stayed at the villa which had a magnificent view over the rice terraces and a huge pool. The room was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The outside bath room was spacious, clean and a nice feature. Since we stayed quite long (17 nights) we got to try pretty much from their menu. The breakfast was big with entre, main and dessert including a juice and coffee of your choice. The dinner and lunch menu was the same, all meals were good. Some of the dishes were better price for value but overall it was fair priced. For our anniversary we booked the romantic candle-light dinner. That day it was raining which is why we had to do it in front of the villa but the set up was still great. We had a wonderful dinner together. The staff was throughout friendly, helpful, welcoming and simply just amazing. We enjoyed our stay a lot thanks to the great service and lovely staff. When something went wrong with our laundry that we gave them to wash, they reimbursed us the broken items. They were very fair and professional handling this situation. Also the laundry service was done externally, so it wasn't really their fault but they handled it very well.

The level of professionalism and courtesy from each and every staff member is remarkable. The on site restaurant food quality is very comparable to a lot of high end restaurants which I've eaten at around the world. The rooms were very clean and if you needed anything the attentive staff was available at assist you right away. I felt almost like royalty thanks to them. But back to my humble reality life now. • C58drop (10/5): Quiet and restful hotel away from crowds - we had a spa room with a king size 4 poster bed and large sofa as well as a huge bathroom with 2 massage tables. included in the stay were a massage per person per day and breakfast. the facilities included a well equipped gym, 3 swimming pools, a tennis court and a yoga room. the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. not really appropriate for children but if you need a quiet retreat, this is perfect. massages are great. 70,000rupiah taxi fare to Sanur or the hotel's car is free (if available) to drop off in Sanur. 160,000rupiah to Kuta.
• mark (10/5): Bali Holiday - My wife and I had a fantastic holiday and celebrated our wedding anniversary in style. The setting and villa were perfect, staff friendly and always ready to help. The food was superb especially for my wife as she is a vegetarian. Well away from the main tourist area but easily accessible when required by use of the hotel driver. We loved it.
