Guest Reviews
- Loïss (10/5): Amazing - The staff is amazing and the place is beautiful !
- Foster (9/5): Truly remarkable and good value for money! - A beautiful villa, very authentic to Bali and has so many plus points! Very quiet and away from the crowds, the pool is truly amazing and a welcome addition for keeping cool. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice.
I have to say a special thanks to the host Maria who is a shining star. She is so helpful and goes above and beyond. There’s nothing I didn’t like as such, however some constructive feedback would be mosquito nets in the bedroom.
The option for other meals being made available ie dinner if required.
Possibly provide a list of excursions and cost.
- Shreys (9/5): Superb - Beautiful villa with a very unique set up with outdoor living area by the pool.
- Gabrijel (9/5): Superb - Breakfast should be more varied.
Just as a remark, not as a criticism. /
- Toni (8/5): Peaceful villa - Beautiful property. Friendly staff. Georgous view of fields from upstairs. Deeper than average pool Very isolated. Drivers could sometimes not find the villa
- Robert (8/5): Great stay and staff are very good. - Layout and setup, privacy In the morning it was noisy with some construction work going on close by
- Michelle (9/5): Great Villa with amazing staff ❤️ - If you want something out of the way this is a perfect property. The Villa is stunning, really comfortable beds and airco in the rooms. The outside area had a comfy sofa for chilling and Maria and her staff were absolutely amazing, so helpful, made a delicious breakfast each morning and was available for questions or help if we needed it ❤️
I would recommend downloading the Gojek App to book cheap taxis into Canguu or Seminyak…..very cheap and each one only cost a couple of euros!! Although the property is beautiful, some parts in the bedrooms and kitchen are a little worn. There is no kettle and the hob was tricky to light to boil water for tea or coffee but thankfully Maria showed us how to get it working!
Be prepared to pay cash at the property. Maria sorted out with the owner to pay by PayPal which saved us as we didn’t have that much cash with us!!
- Kelly (8/5): Lovely, tranquil setting with warm and welcoming hosts. - The tranquility of Zala Villa speaks to you as soon as you enter the front entry. Secluded and away from the bustle of busy streets, it creates a lovely atmosphere for downtime. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hosts were a delight and very warm and accommodating. No fault of the Villa but it does take a while to get anywhere given the traffic. There’s nothing within walking distance so taxi/driver is your only option. A great place to escape though and use Grab to order in so you don’t need to go out.
- Khairul (8/5): Nice stay! - It's really huge!! Very privacy... convenient location. The toilet no bidet
- Filip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nipun (5/5): Passable - The pool is wonderful and the staff really try very hard to bring a smile on your face. The beds are very uncomfortable. The wiring was burnt and we could smell it everything we plugged the charger. There were strange insects and other noises which kept us awake probably due to the proximity with rice fields nearby.
- Brandon (10/5): Amazing and cosy with a kind and loving atmosphere . - Beautiful from head to toe with a stunning design , the Staff and service was exceptional 10/10. Some loud noises from surrounding area with chanting at night.
- Gemma (9/5): Beautiful - We had the main villa to ourselves and it was a beautiful layout. The pool/ living area was very clean with good seating and a lovely hammock swing on the pergola. We got massages through the accommodation and they were exceptional value and very comfortable by the poolside. It was set back from the road and very peaceful with stunning views of the sunset from our bathroom. Beds were super comfy- we had the best nights sleep. Staff were very helpful and friendly (Angie and another lady that brings the breakfast) Breakfast was also very good with fresh juices, tea/coffee, fruits and a good size meal. There wasn't much around and we had to get taxis/mopeds for restaurants and bars (a good 15 minutes) but the gojek app is very cheap and reliable. Our bathroom was lovely but the bath wasn't particularly clean and it would have been nice to use but the shower facilities were good with hot water.
- Catherine (10/5): Sensational location! So peaceful and relaxing - would highly recommend Zala Villa to everyone. - Beautiful and peaceful location. Amazing staff! N/A
- Christina (9/5): Absolutely beautiful Villa in a lovely setting. Staff incredible. Loved it! -
- Paul (10/5): Exceeded our expectations - Superb villa. Breathtaking decorating, highly recommend Nothing
- James (7/5): Good -
- Nutty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wilson (7/5): A beautiful stay, but unreliable power - Beautiful villa and the staff are very friendly and communicative, nice breakfast served right to the table also We were told the power can cut off at any given time, which it did during our stay. This meant we had no light, aircon, refrigeration etc for over 4 hours (it was pitch black and we had to use our phone flashlights to see). I can understand that it’s a more remote area with unreliable power, but I feel that there should be measures in place to prepare for it (a backup generator or at least some candles) especially for the money you’re paying to stay here
Also the rice workers in the field next to the villa can see right into the bathroom, something to keep in mind if this makes you uncomfortable
- Sarah (6/5): Pleasant - Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, nice outside area and view of rice fields. Difficult to sleep with loud noises from frogs, birds and nearby construction, no TV, strong mold smell in room and mold on surfaces, toilet seat badly stained.
- Karishma (2/5): Very poor - Breakfast was good AC was not working properly and the fan didn't help.
There were lizards in the room.
Cleaners entered the villa 2-3 times a day, in the morning without prior notice. No proper curtains in the room. We could see everything from outside. We were not the comfortable sleeping there.
Lots of noise from outside.
- Yunsheng (8/5): It was relaxing and homely. - I was greeted by two people. The guy took over my luggage immediately upon my getting off the car. The staff were very friendly. The space was cleaned every day. Woke up to birds' chirping and nice views. Enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. There was no sign to show that it is Zala Valley. The driver took some time to figure out and we had to ask people for direction. There are some flies, mosquitos and ants but maybe it is the same everywhere in Bali as it is hot and humid.
- Daniël (10/5): Exceptional - We were treated as royals. Very nice staff. Accommodation was very clean. Would stay again here!
- Melanie (8/5): Very good -
- Øvrebø (9/5): Superb - Very private villa, alot of space, big pool, nice bathroom, nice lounge/eating area. Cute turtles lived in the entrance pond. Duvet/bed-cover was a thin sheet without fillings.
- Adam (10/5): Canguu Oasis - Beautiful location in Canguu, with stunning views of rice fields. Nice pool and open kitchen/dining/lounge area, kitchen is well stocked with all cutlery and cooking gear but great restaurants all around (so not used on this trip). Great little touches everywhere, which create a nice relaxing atmosphere. The bed was big and comfortable, and the bathroom was huge with a big bath. Turtles and birds add a nice bit of nature to the vibe. Highly recommended, and we'll be back. Nothing I could find to dislike about this place.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Justine (10/5): Private oasis that will have you wanting to stay longer! - This place was a private oasis. My husband and I LOVED staying here. It was peaceful and private and we couldn’t recommend it more. No real complaints. Not enough hot water to get a full tub and maybe a few bugs in the outdoor bathroom but really it was all so great!
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corey (6/5): Good price - Nice relaxing private pool Location is a bit far out of Canggu centre to walk
Construction going on right next door was very loud
- Paula (8/5): Relaxing with having different areas to chill on . - Arriving at night it had a lovely WOW factor .
Very relaxing stay especially if you just want to chill like we did.
Loved the hammock Didn’t appear to have very hot water in shower and bath.
Some PowerPoints didn’t work and sink could be replaced .
Not alot in area but we were aware of that. Use Gojek to order food in
- Jennie (8/5): Good value for money- pictureresque villa. - Villa looks beautiful, huge rooms and a big private pool and outdoor living area. Big comfortable bed and large shower and bath. Breakfast brought each morning, very tasty and on time. Birds and frogs in the garden. Secluded property overlooking scenery which was nice if a little remote. A few minor things could improve Villa eg. Blinds were broken, one sink didn’t drain for hours and glasses could have been cleaner. Location is ok but does take a substantial taxi ride to get to Canggu or Seminyak and not really anywhere walkable to eat (although a great coffee place)
- Azrina (4/5): Misleading payment method - The surroundings were beautiful I was not informed that payment will be in cash. I was only told at the very last day during check out and I didn't have enough cash with me. That caused alot of stress.
The mattress was very sunken and lumpy. It was very very uncomfortable.
- Bowen (10/5): Beautiful people & Villa - The staff were so friendly & helpful and gave us everything we needed and more. Villa location is nice & peaceful, but still close enough to bars/restaurants/beach to make it easy. We will miss this place! Definitely be back one day.
- Jože (10/5): Exceptional - My first stay, but it won't be the last. I had the whole villa for myself, so I could go swimming in the middle of the night. It was a good rest with good breakfast.
- Jože (10/5): Exceptional - As always, friendly staff, breakfast, morning/evening swim. It was again just short visit , but worth it.
- Jessica (8/5): Amazing if you don’t want to leave, not great if you don’t want to hire motorbike. - Amazing, beautiful villa! So relaxing. Breakfast was okay. Not a great location - about 15-20 mins from Canggu beach. Pool was also freezing (despite very hot weather we couldn’t swim). Hot water runs out very quickly. No restaurants nearby.
- 260522 (7/5): Good - Private pool, very nice bedroom and bathroom. Not for people who don't like sleeping with animals in the bedroom.
Location is also not the best. If you just plan to stay at the villa and relax it's great, but if you plan to go to the city, to the beach or go sightseeing, I would recommend a different accommodation.
- Natasa (10/5): Relax, reatreat, amazing, beautiful - Amazing villa, so beautiful. Lovely and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend those who want to relax. The food was lovely and fresh.
Absolutely loved the Villa and destination.

- Lucie (9/5): Lovely Villa - Amazing villa, so beautiful. Lovely and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend those who want to relax. The food was lovely and fresh.
Absolutely loved the villa.
- Robert (10/5): Best Villa with ricefields and sunset view in Canggu - Beautiful villa in so many small deco detailas. we realy love it. the staff bring every morning delicious bog breakfast always comming with fresh fruits , fresh fruit juice and balinese coffee. The staff order for us Balinese massage by the pool that was awersome,. Will come back for sure and recommended to our friends absolutely nothing
- Jürgen (8/5): Very good -
- Roberth (10/5): thats call Paradise - Beautiful bungalows on the beach, with amaxing garden, we designet, big breakfast with fruits, very frendly snd helphul staff and best massage by master Del sll was perfect
- B (8/5): Very good -
- Addie (9/5): Superb -
- Catalina (9/5): Lovely, peaceful stay - Beautiful Villa, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. Staff were helpful. Private. Lighting is very dim in the room. A little far from central Canggu
- Ryville (9/5): Gorgeous and quiet villa with lots of room - Great location, away from the bustle of Canggu, with only the sights and sounds of nature. Pet birds and turtles accompany you at the villa - never a dull moment. Staff were friendly and attentive. So much space for us as a couple with different spaces to spend your time around the villa. The outdoor bathroom was especially lovely, but there was beautiful decor throughout. Wifi was not working very well during our stay, so best rely on your own international roaming or get a SIM card, or better yet stay off your devices during your stay!
- Joh-anne (7/5): For what we paid for, it met our expectations. - The pool and the open living space. Aircon didn't blow out cool air, so it was a bit uncomfortable at night time. Sometimes the power would go out at night time, which apparently was normal in Canggu, according to their info leaflet on the coffee table. Breakfast come out later than when we asked for it, so lucky we didn't have plans booked in.
- Balajikris74 (10/5): 5 days & 4 nights of relaxing stay - The ambience was relaxing and great. The staff were cordial. They cleaned the Villa everday without fail. The best was that we had the swimming pool all to ourselves. Good place for Couples and family to rest and relax. The lighting was very dim. The fan in the room was slow compared to the fan at the dining area. The Aircon kept switching off at night, not sure why and we didn't take the time to ask the owner about it. Payment modes are limited.
- Jože (10/5): A massage by the pool is a must - I extended for a day. Enjoyed again my breakfast & fantastic massage by the pool. Swimming in the pool during a shower... Great experience!! It was short but planning to be back again in spring 2023!! /
- Jože (10/5): Another relaxing stay - I was regular guest till 2019 but Covid caused problems so after 3 years, I was back again. And I did not regret. Still the same charming place with friendly owners. I had luck & own the whole villa for myself. I even extended my stay because other guests delayed their arrival.
- Reymond (8/5): Charming secluded villa. - The surrounding was beautiful. The staffs and owner were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was so delicious with the fresh cut fruits. The villa was quite charming. Cleaning can still be improved. Some of the kitchen tools and cutlery were dirty. I get the idea of cold shower for outdoor bathroom, but it would be nice to have an option of warm shower somehow. Maybe at least at the bathtub. Location bit far away from center, but could be a good thing if that’s what you looking for.
- Anonymous (10/5): paradise off the beaten track, relaxing and luxurious - We stumbled across this little gem on booking.com and we’re so pleased we did. everything is perfect, so relaxing and luxurious. the staff are friendly, the location is away from the hustle and bustle, but not too far from main attractions. The open plan living made us feel at one with nature! A soak in the bath of the open plan bathroom of an evening, listening to the frogs, cows and various bugs made us feel like we were in paradise. We would highly recommend Zala villas for a relaxing stay, so much to do and see nearby for a small price. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we would recommend a massage by the pool during your stay and the food was delicious. A special thank you to Andre, his beautiful children and our driver Gede! everything was amazing!
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (2/5): - Unable to contact host at check-in, we waited for more than an hour outside the villa. Despite informing that we would be arriving at 9pm, host was nowhere to be found and despite calling multiple times we were unable to get in touch with the reception.
Villa condition seemed alright but rooms were extremely dusty and bedsheets had not been changed prior to our visit - dead insects and stains on sheets.
Very poor and would not recommend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Liked: the space
Disliked: no working wifi, too many bugs around the pool, too many bugs around the bedroom (left from the dead flowers), really far out from the city area
- Svetlana (10/5): Amazing place, kind staff! - What an incredible place! If you need luxurious villa with a lot of privacy, fantastic swimming pool and incredible bathroom, you need to be at the Zala villa. It's a pity that we are staying here only 2 nights.
The villa is amazing, breakfast choices are delicious, everytihng is freshly prepared for you. We loved the flowers all over the place! The staff is very friendly, we have rented a (good) motorbike to be able to move around.
Late check out was a no problem, transportation to the airport for a reasonable price was arranged. If you like, you can visit Canggu of Tanah Lot by motor bike. There is an amazing warung (restaurant) close by with an incredible atmosphere, make sure to visit.
- MC (2/5): - no hot water
A lot of mosquitoes
Low degree of privacy
No toothbrush
No dinner !!!!!
Facilities are old
Swimming pool water pollution
Lack of light
- Nichelle (10/5): Lovely Hotel - Staff was very friendly. Food was incredible. Owner was very helpful. Excellent villa. Couldn't have asked for more
