- Tomaso (2/5): - I arrived at 10:40 PM at the property After a Long trip. Nobody was present for the check-in. I called the phone number as indicated on the office Door, Nobody took my call. Since it was not possibile to check-in, I had no other choice then to search for another hotel.
- Thomas (6/5): - Poor parking options if you’re pulling a trailer. Dirty exterior and grounds.
No gutters on building.
Many transient workers staying there.

- Paul (6/5): - Nice people run the motel, but the rooms are dated and old.
- Sheila (2/5): - The lady that checked us in told us that she was giving us a newly remodeled room and that it was very clean.
This couldn't be further from the truth. The room was VERY musty. There were several imperfections in and outside the room, including BED BUGS!! I have bites all over my body
- Billy (10/5): - Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly. Nice clean room and service. Will stay there again since we will be traveling to Grand Rapids 4 to 6 times a year.
- Bruce (10/5): - Clean, Quite, comfortable
- Jacob (10/5): - Very kind and accommodating.
- mark (8/5): couple get away - We needed a stopping off point on our way to Grand Forks North Dakota. The rooms were a little dated but very clean and comfortable. Would recommend this to anyone needing a quick comfortable place to stay overnite
- Pete (10/5): - The rooms had a nice rustic feel and were spacious. The beds were very comfortable. It is not very often that you get a full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and a cook top in the room. We very much enjoyed our stay.
- Marcia (8/5): - I have stayed at this motel twice now and even though it's an older motel I find it very clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.
- Diana (10/5): - Only reasonable motel/hotel in the area. Other are só over priced. Even though we really like this cute little motel. And would stay there even if another hotel cheaper
- Diana (10/5): - First of all your hotel was the only afforadable hotel in GR. I want to express my gratitude . Secondly i appreciated the call and ability to just go to our room. Lastly i love your motel. It is só cute and compfy. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you
- William (8/5): - Bathroom dated
, shower / tub tile caulk worn out . Cold water faucet handle broken .
Coffee maker looked good but there were no cups available for hot drinks .
Huge refrigerator was a pleasant surprise.
Staff friendly
- Irene (10/5): - I have a new favorite motel in GR! The full size fridge is a game changer. The room was great, big, comfy bed, tub and shower, microwave worked beautifully, fridge kept stuff nice and cold. Staff were all friendly. Didn’t need much from housekeeping but they checked in daily. They alerted me when they had to plow. Oh yeah and it was cold out but the room stayed warm. There is a nice restaurant in walking distance if it’s not January and gusting wind. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
- Melvin (8/5): - While the property is on the older side, my room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The clerk was friendly and food at the adjacent restaurant was excellent and not expensive.
- Kaitlyn (10/5): - Stayed here twice (so far) while passing through for Christmas holidays. The rooms are always super clean, smell fresh, and are toasty warm for the winter. Forest Lake Restaurant is a quick walk from the rooms (2 minutes) and has excellent food. We love stopping here.
- Mark (10/5): - ALWAYS A GOOD STOPPING SPOT BEFORE THE BIG FISHING TRIP. LOVE THE VFW
- Roger (8/5): - This was my wife Elizabeth and my local motel we stayed at. She is gone now but i stayed in her honor.
- Sharon (10/5): Forest Lake - An amazing quaint motel.
- James (8/5): - clean , cozy , affordable
- Barbara (6/5): - The property was clean and the staff were very nice. The rooms themselves need some updating and sprucing up.
- Robert (8/5): - Clean operation. Shower was devine..
- tom (10/5): - we were on a sight seeing tour of the area so we spent very little time in our rooms access to businesses that we were interested in were convenient
- alexa (10/5): - Very friendly and accommodating would love to stay again
- Deborah (8/5): - Our room was across the street from the lake and the view was pleasant. We had dinner at the restaurant next door, and it was a wonderful dining experience. The room included a full size refrigerator and two beds.
- William (6/5): - Had fruit flies galore…..
- Sue (10/5): - It made our stay very pleasant. The bar and restaurant staff are terrific.
- Moss (4/5): - not that great lots bugs in room shut water off without telling anyone
- Joseph (10/5): - Great price for our stay
- Andrea (8/5): - Very clean rooms, easy to get to
- Victor (10/5): - This motel is made up of several buildings going down toward a small lake. The motel is relatively old, but rooms are clean and spacious. They need some remodeling and small repairs, but nothing serious. I recommend taking a couple of clothes pins to secure the curtains while keeping them above the AC unit.
The restaurant/bar next door is worth visiting at least once
- Karen (10/5): - Very pleased with this stay. Relaxing place very pet friendly.
- Mike (6/5): - The room overall was clean, but infested with spiders. The property was a little rundown and in need of repair.
- Yvonne (6/5): - The room was very outdated and needed some repairs: toilet and sink was very low to the ground, no plug for the bathtub: over all I think that the cost was way over priced for the shape of the room:
- Lexanne (8/5): - This property doesnt look that great from the outside, and I can't speak to other rooms, but our room was fabulous. Large w small kitchen area and a full sized fridge, what a treat that was. I suspect this motel is slowly renovating rooms and is also renting some on a long-term / live-in basis. I was not afraid to wander from our lakeside room up to the office area for ice, people were friendly as I walked by. The front desk manager was friendly also, as was their happy little dog. While there were no oueside chairs for relaxing in the evening sun, there is a bench across the street overlooking the lake as well as a nice fishing deck and a walkable to beach. If you want luxury, this place is not for you. But if you want a clean, comfy room, with coffee, microwave, fridge and large tv, to spend your evening in comfort and have a good sleep, then please try this motel. I agree with other comments though, the pullows could be fluffier. Oh well.
- D'Ann (4/5): - Looks nothing like the photo. Run down. Most guests appeared to be long term. Grounds dirty. Room smelled moldy. Over priced.
- Dino (10/5): - This was my first time at a motel and thanks to this place, I'll try it again.
Pros: CLEAN, firm cozy bed, Smart TV with streaming apps so you can login, pleasant stay & check-in process, strong WiFi, full sized fridge\freezer, small microwave, separate sink & counter outside the bathroom.
Cons: Pillows were quit flat.
- Linda (6/5): - It was convenient but needs upgrades. There was a little mouse that showed up in the night and that was a bit unnerving. The towels were good though. Used one to put under the door to try and keep the critter at bay!
- Jason (10/5): Wonderfully clean! - This place has the title of motel, so my expectations were low, but to my surprise the room was well put together and wonderfully clean. No question, we will stay here again
- Mary (6/5): - Our room was facing the water which was across the street, so technically that was the water view room. I think there were permanent residents there which made us feel a little uncomfortable. The room was tired, but the beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
- Daniel Luc (2/5): - Run down
- Audrey (8/5): - It was a good place to stay, had all the amenities we needed and super friendly staff. The room always felt damp but i think thats from all the rain that had been recieved, it was roomy and clean, better than the pictures.
- Rex (8/5): - Great place to stay for the price.
- Chris (8/5): My Stay - I was traveling with my dog. My room was located on the lakeside of the property which was a nice touch. I was able to walk my dog easily to the lake and enjoy the view. The only issue I had was that my room was surounded by a crew of people that woke me up at 5:30 am with tons of slaming, banging and stomping while they were getting ready for work. This was on a Sunday morning... Other than that... I was pleased with the place.
- Terri (10/5): - The property was great and the service was phenomenal!
- Marcia (8/5): - The property is older, but I found it very comfortable. The price was right. The lake lovely. I would stay again
- Andrew (6/5): - Nothing
- Edward (6/5): - It's just a very old motel and needs some work. The faceplates on the outlets were in bad shape, the faucet in the bathroom needs replaced, and other stuff I cannot remember now. If I would have paid $65 for the room I wouldn't complain, but I paid what the Marriott at MSP charged me for the next night. The lady at check-in was nice.
- Kori (8/5): Cozy Cabin Feel - I got to the Motel about 5:30pm check in with only cash went amazingly smooth and the Front Desk gentleman was very nice and helpful. The room was cozy with a studio sized refrigerator. The room was clean and comfortable. My neighbors were not exactly people I would choose, but I didn't complain so the office was unaware. The housekeeping lady was very helpful and quick so I could get my deposit back and be on my way. I would recommend Forest Lake Motel.
- Sharon (8/5): Nice little place. - Motel is old, but clean. Check in and out was easy. We only spent one night, but it was quiet. Love being able to park right outside the door. No long halls or stairs.
- William (8/5): - The room was clean but musty. Pillows were flat. Could use remodeling. However, it's adequate as is.
- Shelley (10/5): - The person in the office was super nice and helpful. The room was more spacious than I thought it would be. We will definitely stay there again!
- Linda (8/5): - Good value for our dollar
- Deanna (10/5): - Room was very clean. Wonderful view. Quiet at night. Old building do some rough looking areas. But overall loved the place and the price.
- Kathy (10/5): - We are traveling cross country and We like the “Mom and Pop” places over the chains.
The room was a surprise in the fact there was a bedroom and also a bed in the front. Full size refrigerator with a small stove and kitchen sink. The bathroom was a little small but water was good and hot and good pressure.
The manager was very nice and offered suggestions on where to go to restaurants.
Overall very satisfied with everything.
If ever in the area would stay there again.
- Denise (6/5): Forest Lake Motel - It is an older motel that could use some updating, but it was clean and comfortable. The location was easy to find, and the staff was friendly.
- Donald (8/5): - Older motel and rooms as you would expect. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Used laundry. They had change and detergent, good dryer. Very nice restaurant on grounds, very busy.
- Joe (10/5): - I like it cause it was pretty much close to things, the one thing I didn’t like was there wasn’t much hot water. But other then that it was a pleasant experience.
- Keith (10/5): - It was pretty cool
- Dawn (8/5): - The manager was great even tho my booking did not come up.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Forest Lake Hotel room 37 late September 2022 - Upon check-in the room was quite clean overall, but there is a lingering mildew smell (this is a very old property) that is very apparent each time entering the room.
Had to run the bathroom exhaust continuously to help clear the air. Fortunately the wind was blowing from the NNW and the windows do not seal so the breeze came right in.
Because the room is facing North and at street level you can see Forest Lake, sort of. Lots of bushes on the shoreline block most of the view.
The entry door is less than 30 feet from the street and an EMS ambulance service is on a nearby property so the sirens are quite loud.
There are no telephones in the rooms. Management gives you a business card and expects you to call on a cell phone if you have any issues.
Just be aware that this is not a fancy place and if you need somewhere to sleep it will fill the bill.
- Scott (10/5): -
- Michelle (6/5): - The room had a smell in it when you first opened door. As you were in there didn’t notice as much. It really could use better locks as there is no outside door. Screen doors would be nice to have so you could keep inside door open. Windows did not work. Beds were comfy. Staff very pleasant.
- Michael (10/5): Would stay there again. - Comfortable room and great owners.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the lake view from our room.
- Sally (8/5): Forest Lake Motel, Grand Rapids - Nice and comfortable room with full kitchen and 2nd bed. But the rooms could use some fixes and upgrades. A good value tho and pet friendly. Centrally located. Nice walk to the lake.
- Michael (2/5): Horrible dissappointment - The hotel was terrible. Residents/laborers on either side of the room were cooking fish outside on propane stoves. Very seedy looking. After looking at the room and realizing it smelled terrible we forfeited all our money, turned in the key and left. We did not feel safe and the pictures online were nothing like we walked into. We were charged a ridiculous rate. We ran to the comfort inn and suites which was perfect and cheaper.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Nothing fancy, but that's just fine. - Decent sized room with the usual furniture -aside from A FULL SIZE REFRIGERATOR! Seemed clean and everything worked. Free Wi-Fi was good enough for the two of us to play some WOW.
- Teresa (6/5): - Overall the property is very tired and run down and not kept up very well. However it is across from the lake and the room view was very nice. The rooms are very large and spacious and just what you need if you're staying the night and just need a place to lay your weary head. The maids knocked on our door very early in the morning to see when we were going to leave it was our que that we needed to get around as they wanted to clean the room. This is a motel so they knew we were still there as our car was parked right in front of the door. The owners of the motel are very very friendly and helpful to find things to do around town. Over all my aunt and I were very happy with our stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): So-So - I stayed 3 nights in a single room. t was a very basic hotel - what I'd expect for the price. My only window "view" was entirely blocked by a giant tree trunk a few feet from the window. The TV didn't work. I reported it after checking in. They said they'd look at it while I was eating dinner. They just unplugged it. It was never fixed or replaced. One night, we had heavy rain. I was awakened by drips of water on my face. The window above the bed leaked.
- Michael (4/5): My weekend - Weather was amazing, food next door was good. Room not so clean, they called it a cabin... No wash clothes, no towel/maid service over 3 night stay, cob webs in the corners and window sills. Will never stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): A Low Quality Stay - The beds are old, windows with no screens (in a location with lots of mosquitoes), windows that don't work, Venetian blinds in a state of ill-repair, poor cleaning, etc. WiFi didn't seem to work either. The motel is in real need of repair and renovation. On the positive side, the room had a good refrigerator and microwave.
- Jimmy (6/5): - The review would be better if the price weren't so high. The motel would have been fine for something in the $50-$60 range but it was wofully inadequate for the $90s. Musty smell in the room. Hard beds. Good service from the couple that runs the place. They were very nice and accomidating.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Horrible. Hot baseboard heat coming out full on. One roll out window,no screen. Large hard bed with no outlets anywhere close to the bed. A t.v. in the corner about 20 feet away up next to the ceiling. Don't look under the bed,the dust bunnies are there and on the blinds of all windows even the 1 that opens.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wifi didn't work, just a chain lock for the door no dead bolt.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The owner thought it was ok to email me mid-afternoon on the day of my arrival to state he had given my room away.
