- Ridingwithrissatrave (6/5): Group Trip - I like there there is a small fashion mall around the corner from the hotel and a supermart. There are two famous beach clubs about 10-15 minutes away. Pretty far from Lapa district, christ redeemer, in the Carnival experience. The atmosphere of the hotel is modern and clean, but does have a strong smell which takes away from the ambience. The food at the hotel is pretty average. The rooms are extremely spacious, I believe the rooms could really go to the next level if he had towels, toiletries and clean furniture. A lot of the couches chairs and carpet room has stains all over them. It will also benefit the hotel that they had at least complementary water in the rooms that are having to pay for it. The value of the hotel is pretty decent for what you get from it. The room is fairly large and clean. what I love the most about the hotel Staff was Victor and Brian. I really enjoyed their customer service, hospitality, and their effort to go out of their way to make sure that I had a great experience. I also enjoy how Brian remember my name days later providing me a service. I would say that other staff is not as friendly and the Customer Service from other staff have just felt like you were invisible.

Luiz, Rocky, Filipe, and the Manager from the reservation desk were extremely helpful and provided excellent customer service. Our room was very nice and clean with a beautiful sea view. The breakfast and dinner was delicious. Thank you Hotel Nacional for making our stay an incredible one!

- Ightham1 (8/5): Pleasant 4 night stay - We stayed for 4 nights in October 2025. Were we’re on the 25th floor with a wonderful sea view and a very spacious suite. Breakfast was great; big selection and lots of sweet things if that’s what you like. Dinner was a choice of a la carte or buffet. We tried both and preferred the variety of the buffet. The younger waiters were much more friendly than the older guys. The bar area was good and we were fascinated by the speed of the cocktail chap. A special hello to Pedro C who was very friendly and looked after us very well. The only issue we had was with loud music being played in another room between 18.39 and 23.30 one evening. Despite reporting it to the front desk at around 19.30, the music continued. If you like a nice beach and a more quiet setting than Ipenema or Copacabana, this is a perfect hotel
- ronnieko (4/5): Not a pleasant stay, will not recommend for it's cleanliness. - I had a very bad experience in this hotel and will not recommend. First which I felt so ridiculous for years of travel, the hotel said they cannot find my name in the booking system when I checked in and my booking was made through Agoda.com. They said that someone who might be renting their apartment and lease the room through Agoda and my booking might be under different reservation. They tried to contact the number shown in my confirmation email but failed, and the reception said that property number was not their hotel's. They suggested that I can cancel the reservation and book right away but I had already settled the payment. There were things to follow because of this and I still was not sure whether it was a mistake by Agoda or the hotel but I haven't encountered or heard about this in my experiences. Room: It is not clean! I found some hair (not only one but some) on the bed sheet and one of the pillow had strong fragrance smell. I strongly believe that they didn't change the sheeting at all and I was very disappointed. Some drinks and snacks are complimentary. Food: Very bad! I had a dinner at their restaurant and ordered a chicken ceasar salad, the meat was tasteless and chewy. The next morning I had the breakfast buffet but much food was cold even I took from hot dish area like scrambled egg and sausage and the buffet just started. Service: Overall service is ok but not all staff are nice. Location: It is around 15 min drive from Copacabana beach and has a small beach directly across the road. A shopping mall with some cafe and restaurants is nearby and you can also buy some necessities there which is quite convenient. It was quite packed when I stayed and there was a party holding at night until around 11pm. For people who really want to be quiet this hotel is not your pick. Facilities: There is an out door swimming with a pool side bar and you can enjoy some drinks and snacks next to the pool. The gym room is large and are well equipped. These are attractive for people who want to stay in hotel for sometime. Overall speaking there should be better options with the same price and I will not recommend.
- RickG330 (4/5): Avoid 2907 - Avoid 2907 on 29th floor. Right below roof top restaurant and at night you can hear people walk across floor and scraping of chairs. Really really annoying. Check if there is a wedding / party on. When I checked in I was not warned / advised. Impossible to rest / sleep until the noise stops. Room was not serviced inspite of requesting it twice / was told , without apology, that system showed it was done. Overall a great location but room allocated let whole stay down.

Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful with any questions we had. Food was great, rooms with views stunning and atmosphere great for families and couples. Id like to give a special mention to Davi Botelho a young waiter there. What a brilliant, polite and extremely helpful young man. For us the best member of staff that works there. I cant sing his praises highly enough. Thank you to everyone.

I loved that it was such an iconic hotel - the location is quieter but that is a positive! Easy walk to the metro and the same beautiful views as Copacabana but without the noise. Staff were very friendly and the reception staff were helpful and resolved any query. They definitely enhance the vibe of the hotel. So pleased to see the Oscar Niemeyer information.

I don’t think they’re no proper etiquette to assist tourist or clients and guess it was very difficult to talk And there was misunderstandings and some arguing with respect to certain things in Hotel people I’m not trained. that was the biggest issue otherwise Hotel was not bad. It was clean, but they should get there staff together.

Without reservation, I would highly recommend this hotel The rooms were in immaculate condition the service was excellent. In particular I'd like to give special thanks to Caio who was able to resolve a misunderstanding and went above and beyond to resolve the issue at the expense of his own personal time this is what I observed and I was very appreciative of his professional approach I hope his management recognize what an asset they have as a member of staff at the establishment. The hotel is in a secluded and quite environment during September 2025 and close to the main attractions. Room service was immediately timely and we were never left wanting for anything. Highly recommended

The room I stayed in had unacceptable hygiene conditions: there was dust, hair, and visible dirt on different surfaces. The towels were rough, the sheets were of poor quality, and the floor was grimy. The bathroom was in terrible condition, and even the doors had accumulated dirt. Moreover, the facilities overall are old and poorly maintained. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel.

- 712iamg (8/5): Retour global - Overall, the hotel is beautiful and pleasant. However, it does require some improvements. The rooms don’t have windows, and the ventilation system often releases strong sewage odors. There were times when we entered our room and it smelled very bad, even though no one had used the bathroom. To avoid this, we constantly had to keep the air conditioning on, which is not ideal. Breakfast also lacked variety: for two weeks, the buffet offered exactly the same options every morning. As for housekeeping, the cleaning was not always done properly. Bed sheets and towels were not consistently changed, and sometimes the housekeeper came very late, around 1 or 2 p.m., which made it difficult to relax in the room.

- Derick (2/5): - I stayed at Hotel Nacional from August 14–21 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I usually try not to bring up race, but I can’t shake the feeling that some of what I experienced was racially motivated. On my first night, the concierge at the front desk was extremely rude and aggressive. She demanded my papers and documents in a very harsh way, and when I calmly confronted her about her tone, she became even more belligerent. No one offered to help with bags, which was surprising for a hotel advertised as 5 stars. The hotel itself was also not as advertised. The rooms were just average at best, with noticeable stains on the carpet. Room service is listed as 24 hours, but most of the time no one answered the phone. On top of that, the atmosphere of the hotel felt uncomfortable — almost as if I was being watched constantly. Staff frequently delayed or questioned me and my guest, asking repeatedly for my room number, which made me feel like I didn’t belong there. I also noticed them chatting amongst themselves after interactions, which only added to the uncomfortable feeling. Overall, this hotel does not live up to a 5-star rating. My trip to Brazil was unfortunately altered because of my stay here. Of course, everyone’s experience may differ, but I wanted to provide an honest account of mine

- Lynda Kathleen (8/5): - The hotel was lovely however there is a real issue with sanitation and waste. The bathrooms and elevators and floors where the rooms are had a terrible odor. But the location of the hotel excellent! This is definitely not a 5 star. 3-4. Food was good but the selection was the same every day! There is no coffee after hours and no coffee machines in the roams. They really should have a coffee station in the main lobby at the very least. The staff were pleasant very helpful. Security was great and we felt safe! If you’re visiting Rio for the first time this is a great place to stay!

- Lisa (10/5): - The building was unique, a tall cylinder. Spacious, right by the ocean, righr by mountains, superior dining areas, a beautiful outdoor pool, and an amazing spa.
- romeoworldent (10/5): Heaven on Earth - This was my second trip here this year. I came back to this exact hotel because of the impeccable service that I received. Happy to say, I wasn’t disappointed at all. Can’t wait to return in 6 months.

- SERGIO (10/5): - Hotel is located in a mostly residential area therefore the surroundings are not as lively as other areas like Ipanema and Copacaba. For us it was ideal since we were travelling with kids. We always felt very safe, even when walking outside at night. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything was helpful. They have a top rated bar tender, I forgot his name now, but he makes some amazing drinks. The rooms were clean, our suite was huge, and the views from the room were amazing. Breakfast was tasty a a huge selection. I wold definetely stay again if back in Rio.

You have options for food, property close enough to major areas such as sugar loaf mountain, Christ the Redeemer, selaron steps etc. The room is big and spacious, even though I didn’t have ocean view the views of the mountains were beautiful. The staff were friendly and everyone knew a little English which made it easier. I only have good things to say about this hotel. Oh and the price didn’t break the bank. I will definitely go back.

- Chjana (10/5): - Absolutely loved this property. My only issue was getting stuck on a floor, unable to work elevator unless on lobby floor, spa and gym floor, floor to your room and the restaurant. So if you get out on the wrong floor then that’ll be a worry. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL view from my room specifically. Very spacious but lighting is pretty bad. Helpful staff, dinner was amazing, pool was beautiful and a 2 minute walking distance from the beach near Tijuca National Park

- Jennifer (10/5): - VERY NICE PLACE TO STAY. BEACH IS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY.
- Courtney (6/5): - We were not able to use WiFi or TV in room for the entire stay. Front desk advised someone would come up to troubleshoot, no one ever did. Luggage was never brought to room after checking in. We waited 30 minutes, then went back downstairs to get it ourselves. Bartenders were nice, but moved with no urgency. Breakfast was good, location was convenient enough, property was quiet, room was ready upon arrival, spa services are a plus. Still, I would not stay here again unless it was significantly cheaper.

- Erick (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, classy, luxurious looking. The ambiance is amazing and the rooms offers breathtaking views. The staff was friendly and attentive; from the receptionists, to the waiters, room cleaners, all up to the security guards. The beach is walking distance from the hotel, and by this, I mean you’ll be in the beach within 100 steps after getting out of the hotel. They offered free breakfast with dinner for additional cost which was less than $10 in our case. They also offer complimentary free welcome drinks. Lastly, the hotel is walking distance from a mall and about 20-45 min drive away from Copacabana depending on the traffic. I definitely recommend this hotel.

- Diana (10/5): - This is a very beautiful hotel. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The best part of my stay was my room and soaking tub. Everything in the hotel and surrounding area was affordable including a massage on site at the spa. The fashion mall is a few yards away. I was able to get an adapter for my phone charger there. I also was able to book a tour through the hotel, this was cheaper than the other sources I was looking into. Overall, I’d recommend and return.

- Darline (8/5): - I went in a solo vacation, staff was very friendly. Food was great. I arrived in the morning at 8 AM because of my VIP access I was able to checked in earlier.

- Lester (10/5): - Nice hotel with beautiful views. The junior suite was very spacious and the water pressure was amazing. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a nice beach directly across the street from the hotel. Taxis were always out front. We used uber the entire time in Rio. Copacabana is a 20-25 minute ride depending on traffic. There is a supermarket in walking distance (3 minutes) from the hotel. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was ok. The best food was on Copacabana beach. I would recommend Hotel Nacional to anyone traveling to Rio.
