- 576cindyc (4/5): It's a no, find somewhere else to stay - So was OK?! ...first impression when arrived was , it was a hostel! But made most of it. My biggest issue was that stupidly I left iPad on the bed in my rush to leave, I called the receptionist, they had found it, but after several phone calls and emails later promising they would get cost for postage and we would of course pay, they haven't and it's not the iPad particularly it was all our children's photos on it we would like back. So it's a no from us!, stay somewhere else who actually care about thier guests!.

- 963sjm (8/5): Useful location. Basic but clean. - Useful location close to water bus stop and restaurants.great little bakery nearby for breakfast. Not the busiest area so not too noisy. Basic but clean and good place to rest when not exploring. Owners were helpful and let us leave our luggage on our last day until we headed for the airport.
- dobbs2u (8/5): Love Venice - A small room on the 1st floor (up 1 flight of stairs). Rustic and authentic. Great location a short walk from the train station. Excellent restaurants everywhere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This hotel is cheap and in a convenient area next to the train station/ shopping area, BUT has tons of negatives. The showers had no hot water on top of the fact it kept constantly leaking onto the floor creating puddles resulting in us to have to keep using our towels to clean it up and house keeping was rather rude about giving extra dry towels due this inconvenience. Good luck getting extra pillows that aren't smashed, old, and have no pillow cases on them. The rooms are falling apart and dirty. The place also reeks of a horrible cigarette smell and the woman who works the front desk is incredible rude and a complete “scammer”. Firstly she tried to charge us the cost of 4 nights when we stayed for 2 nights and acted like we were the ones who couldn’t do basic math. She refused to let us pay with card (even though when I booked our reservation it said credit and debit accepted) and THEY HAVE a card reader on their front desk. She insisted we get euros from the atm , yet the atm connected to the building charged us $60 to take a small amount of money out. Not to mention she has a hot temper and berated me saying “ I have no idea how to travel” and that “ I have no idea how to book things etc”yet when my boyfriend walked back into the building she was trying to be emphatic of the situation. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place.
- Bryan (6/5): - The location is ideal, very short walk from train station. Surrounded by cafes, restaurants and endless shopping. Very friendly staff, spoke english, very helpful. Drawbacks, room was very small with only an armoir, very dated decor and a musty smell. We would stay there again.
- Scott (6/5): Some pros, some cons - Hard to decide on this one. The hotel is not the best, but the price for the location is outstanding. We had what was meant to be a triple room of 3 beds but were given a room with a double bed and single folding bed. Cons The room had no proper windows so was very dark. The general condition was poor. AC unit but did not work. Single bed very uncomfortable and had plastic sheeting and pillow covers. Had to take them off as impossible to sleep on. Mosquitos were awful. Make sure you take repellent. Pros Cost £75 a night for a triple room. Location outstanding - couldn’t be better. The coupe that run it were really nice and welcoming. Bathroom was big and lovely shower. If you just want someone to leave bags and sleep, it’s ideal. A lot of poor hotels on the island are double the price. Come prepared to deal with the mosquitos as it can ruin your sleep if not. Can’t stress that enough. Overall it’s ok. I didn’t visit Venice to be in the hotel often so put up with the downsides.

- Terence (8/5): Great quirky room for solo traveler - For an inexpensive hotel room in Venice close to the station and for a solo traveler it was fine. If you are looking for a more luxury style of accommodation the budget single room option is not for you. I loved it. It’s quirky and the reception staff were great and hopefully appreciated my appalling attempt to speak Italian to them. If your room faces the street you’ll need to allow for the late night noise of people walking to and from the railway station as the hotel is on the main thoroughfare into Venice.

- Connie (10/5): - Support your local Venetians who have been their whole life. Tourism is hard for the locals who are outnumbered. A town of 30,000 who receives 30M a year. We had a wonderful stay in the 3rd floor away from the noise but close to the action. This is a quick walk to the train station, grand canal, and to the San Marcos square but also local places to wander. They keep it clean, the cleaning lady is friendly and we saw her clean daily. Our room was spacious and had simple, classic furniture which I felt was very authentic and homey.

- Nick (8/5): Great hotel in prime location - I just stayed 3 nights in the hotel. Firstly the location is amazing. You can not get better as only a few min walk from the station. As soon as you exit the hotel there are dozens of restaurants and cafes. The room is old yes but it’s clean. They will clean the room every day. I had hot water, super fast wifi and zero bed bugs. In fact the hotel also gives you mosquito repellent set up in room. Yes you leave your key at reception when you leave. This is standard in Italy. I had the best experience from the hosts. They were very friendly. This is a budget hotel but I would most stay here again.
- NAGABABU (2/5): - The facilities were terrible. There was no air condition working. I requested for a fan, and the staff was so rude in giving response. It was really horrible experience with full sweating. Unfortunately my family had worst experience because of facilities.

The room is very, you get what you see. For the price, is good. The beds aren't exactly amazing for your back. But that would be my only negative comment. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming.

- Kasandra (2/5): Bed bugs - This happened last night. Do not stay here. Our room had bed bugs, they moved us to another room, that had bed bugs as well. We waisted our entire day steam cleaning our luggage and spent over $50 euros doing laundry to make sure nothing comes home with us. The over night guy was very apologetic and tried to help as much as he could but the daytime lady(I think she is the manager) had a horrible attitude and was not helpful at all, they also refused to refund us even though we got zero sleep.

- P S (10/5): - The team at Neptuno E Minerva were very helpful, managing to add an extra bed to accommodate our friend that join the trip last minute. A clean room with a private bathroom close to the train station and 2 minutes away from Ponte degli Scalzi. Our beds were tidy every day and there was a 24-hour available reception. We were very happy with it!
- 658kaseye (2/5): HORRIBLE - This hotel is the worst. They have bed bugs crawling in every room. We had to change rooms twice and found bed bugs in all of them and we spoke with other guests who also had the same problem. When we went to the manager with this issue he was extremely rude and verbally assaulted us and tried to kick us out in the middle of the night and said it was all our fault. He screamed and got in our faces and we were very afraid. If you are a woman travelling alone here or as a group please go anywhere else. And again THEY HAVE BED BUGS!!! LOTS OF BED BUGS!!!! Please stay away for your sake!

- Michele (2/5): Nope- don’t do it… - Hot, dated, advertised air conditioning but it was a swamp cooler and the controller was kept downstairs at the check in desk. You had to leave your key at the front desk every time you left the property. We had selected a room with a private bathroom and it was so small when you sat on the toilet your face was over the sink and you had to squeeze past the sink to climb into the shower. Literally as small as an RV bathroom. Water pressure was poor- when you lifted the hand held nozzle the flow became a dribble. We found a bug on one of the beds when we arrived. We had booked it for two nights and decided after the first night when we woke up with our sheets damp that were would rather lose the money we spent on the hotel and pre scheduled train tickets and spent an additional $250 to get back to our flat in Rome. Venice was beautiful but don’t stay here!!

- Holly (10/5): - A very classic room. It had a 1940s poet/artist vibe to it and had everything you needed for a short stay in Venice. It’s in a perfect spot close to the station and the staff were lovely.
- nikolaosz2020 (2/5): Hellish stay - A Hellish experience. Do not go to this dirty hole full of bugs and very rude reception even if it was for free you will regret it. We have booked a double room for two nights and we ended up staying only one as we woke up and our bed was full ticks that were dining from our bodies all night long. Of course we decided to leave the hotel although we had prepaid one more night. The reception was so rude unwilling to refund us or even say sorry for what happened. They basically said it was not their fault as other guests brought the bugs with their luggage. Don't stay at this hotel at any cost !!!

- Shad (8/5): - Safe, clean, friendly no frills hotel. Was perfect for 2 young guys on a budget wanting to stay on the island. No issues with bed bugs but mosquitos were getting to us after leaving the door open to hang out on the balcony. Check in and out was easy and the lady at the desk was super friendly and they let us leave our bags there for the day.
- V J (8/5): Reasonable - Based on some of the reviews I think we were fortunate! We had an ensuite in a second building across the road from reception (which was very shabby and smelt of fags, and we were worried!!). So the basic facilities in our room we're better than expected. It felt a little grubby on the walls and other touch points, but the bed was clean and very comfy. No air con controller, as I understand this is expensive to run. Luckily we were fine with the windows open and we didn't get bitten by mosquitos for some reason, although I squashed one, so they were around. Bring your own spray. There was a new plug in device in the room. The upstairs room housed someone who must have been nocturnal or a busy sleepwalker!! Naturally, being on a busy street, there was general noise of people talking and clattering of dishes from the eateries, roller cases across the cobbles all night from people arriving, but none of that was the fault of the hotel just it's location. So the room itself was adequate, but I wouldn't choose to stay there again.
- Pooja (2/5): - Okay, so we stayed at this property because it was cheap, and we were okay with everything looking a bit old and no a/c and even having a communal bathroom for the price, BUT our last full day housekeeping tried to kick us out a day early, and then when we went to check out, they put a “inconvenience fee” of €50 for checking out at midnight rather than 11am the next day. We had a bus to get to the airport or else we’d miss our 6am flight, but when we tried to explain that, he cut us off and forced us to give him the money in cash while someone else stood in our way to the door. There’s 24/7 desk, so I don’t know why checking out that early would be a problem. Honestly, you’d be better to stay somewhere close to Venice and go there for the day rather than staying in the hotels! BUT ESPECIALLY NOT THIS ONE. Because it was so hot we opened the doors (it gets cold at night) and my face was covered in bug bites. The door knobs never really worked well, and the room barely has any walking room. DO NOT STAY HERE.

- Anastasia (2/5): Could have paid less for far more - Would not recommend. Upon our arrival they relocated us to another hotel for a night which we had NOT booked. The reason being was because they were out of rooms even though we had booked our stay in advance. This room had shared bathrooms which we did not sign up for with our original booking. Our second room was ridden with bed bugs. When mentioning this to the hotel staff and showing them the bed bugs we collected and the bites on our bodies their solution was to blame us for taking the train. The pillows were made out of solid bricks. Absolutely cursed.

- Sarah (4/5): Read ALL the room details - I guess I should have read the small print. It was just a room with a bed and a sink. No bathroom, no air conditioning really just the bare minimum. There was a single toilet down the hall and a single shower on an upper level. From the floor plan it looked like other rooms had bathrooms in them so just make sure you read the description in it’s entirety. Location was good, but I don’t think there is a bad one on Venice.

- 682karend (2/5): Italy rated this hotel a 1-star and I AGREE - The ONLY good thing about this hotel is the location. THAT's IT! 2 guys at the desk are unhappy all of the time. They yell at you. They smoke cigarettes and pipes 24/7. WATCH YOUR RESERVATION because you just might end up with a shared bathroom, down the hall! Place is musty. A/C doesn't work and the grumpy guys at the front desk have the remote controls to adjust and they don't like to! First time in Venice and I was so disappointed!!!!
- Benjamin (4/5): Decent room and bathroom terrible ventilation - The place itself was not bad but it was really hot and no ventilation. We couldn’t sleep at night because of the heat, also a lot of bugs bit us because in order not to perish from the heat we had to sleep with windows open. There was a nice bed and nice bathroom but it was a disappointing experience because of the poor conditions we had to withstand.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay away - Did you know that in Venice the mosquitoes are bigger than the birds? And her it’s close to water so that’s ok. But, when the hotel doesn’t let you use the air conditioning, your choices are either cook to death or be eaten by the mosquitoes if you keep the windows open. The rooms have AC, but no way to turn them on. I asked the manager and his reply was “we are waiting for a change in weather.” It was 29C/85F in the room. I asked if I could have the AC remote and he said “assolutamente no”. The rooms don’t have fans either. I had to go buy one from an electronics store. I donated it to the cleaner girl after the stay. It’s a place to stay but probably the worst in Venice. The listing shows a different building than the one we stayed at
- Z7221AFsimonc (4/5): Overcharged and confrontational - We were quoted by the hostel website a €66 per night stay excluding the city tax but the final price was just worked out to favour the hotel. We had payed a €15 deposit prior to the stay and after checking reviews upon arrival we decided it was best to get a firm idea of the price right away. At this time I was quoted a price of €141 for 2 nights including the city tax (€4) and I decided to double check that this was taking into account the deposit. The manager (I think) got very short and explained he had already said this but I was just unable to decipher his grumbles and had asked for clarification. So I accepted that after adding the deposit it was going to be €76 euro instead of €66 but for 2 nights I was just going to accept this as we didn’t have much other choice and just wanted to enjoy Venice and if we decided to we [could discuss the bill at the end of the stay. Skip to check out time and we were told the the price was €141 and that he had to now add on the city tax of €4 (different to what he had said before of 141 including the tax) another small increase but we had a bus to catch so didn’t have much choice but to pay. So ending up paying €78 per night ex. tax which is okay if the hotel is of good quality, it was not. The manager was smoking at the reception desk but not a huge deal as we were staying across the street. Got into our building and it had a very unusual not that pleasant smell but we got used to it. Went to use our shared toilet (booked a shared toilet) and stepped on the open drain which was covered by a bath mat. The shower has really great pressure though so that’s a plus. The room had no air con as expected but somehow was hotter than outside. If you book a 1 star hotel you get a 1 star room and we weren’t surprised in that respect but we were supplied with an anti mosquito plug-in with enough tablets to last our stay. A very out dated room but again a 1 star hotel so we weren’t surprised. Not made to feel welcome by the man behind the desk (maybe manager) but he was in a very good mood when receiving payment. The experience start to finish made us feel that the hotel was run without a care for the quality and just a transaction (maybe a bit of a con with the price bumps).
- Rebecca M (8/5): great location, price, and staff - This hotel is extremely well-located with respect to the train station and the event that I attended. It is very nice to not have to pull luggage a long distance over cobblestones. The staff is extremely friendly, which is nice to find in Venice. I would go there again just for that. I paid for a very cheap room, and you get what you pay for in terms of the structure. It served me well, and it's great to be able to sleep in Venice in the summer for such a low price. Just a note - it was loud outside the room on a Friday night, which of course is not unique to this hotel. This is summer in Venice. But for sensitive sleepers, consider bringing earplugs, whether you stay here or in another well-located place. I would definitely stay there again.

I don’t mind the old and depressing decor, but I need my own bathroom.

Or walking distance to Rialto and San Marco. Shopping and restaurants right outside the door. Walk up small room with shared bath. Comfortable bed and nice linens. Fairly quiet, brought ear plugs but did not need to use them. I would go back.

- John (4/5): Dingy, rundown and eaten alive by mosquitoes - This hotel is easy to get to from the train station, but that’s all the positives it has. Maybe the location if you are set on staying in actual Venice. But I’m really not sure why you would, especially if you are looking at hotels in this price range. It’s a crowded, overpriced, giant tourist park where phone and camera zombies are shuffling around, shoulder to shoulder, fighting for the same 500 selfies everyone else has, consuming the same trinkets sold at the 100s of similar shops. It’s a rundown hotel, kind of dirty, and the guy at the front desk smoke a pipe all day long so even on the 2nd floor it smells like grandpa tobacco. Secondly, after two nights here I came away with over 30 mosquito bites. First night I killed 10 of them splatting a liter of my blood on the wall. Windows were closed so not sure how the kept coming inside. Second night I tried to kill them all, but I still woke up multiple times to buzzing in my face. The bit my everywhere. Face, hands, arms, worse than any camping trip I’ve been on. I’d recommend to stay on train stop away. It’s 10 minutes and 1.5€. You won’t have to drag your luggage around, and it’s much calmer.

- michelleandonna (6/5): First time visitors - We are first time visitors to Venice both had a lovely time what a beautiful place. We stayed in room 6 across from actual hotel. Pros Hotel is within walking distance from train/bus/boats on arrival. A small 10 min walk or so. Shower was warm and powerful. Room and bathroom was clean and tidy Was provided with toiletries (however had brought or own) WiFi worked fine in the room. Bed was tidied each morning and clean towels provided if required. Staff were polite and overall nice. Cons Could not control air conditioning (no remote) also could not turn this off by the use of a chair and button?? (This needs sorted as the room was far too hot at night). Breakfast was pretty poor. Was provided with cheese and cold meat. Juice, cereal break. Cold boiled eggs and fluid. (However that’s just our opinion). Room was slightly dated and could maybe do with a new sofa and fresh lick of paint. (But no big concern). Our room consisted of two VERY small windows up the very top of the wall - now we are at the back of the building so in the event of a fire we would have no where to escape?? ( these small windows were behind curtains that covered the whole wall we were expecting to have some sort of a view not feel like we were in a prison). The next morning the gentleman behind the desk did ask if we wanted to change our room from a double to a joint single room. (However we refused as we are obviously two woman in a relationship with each other 🙄 so we stuck to being able to sleep in the same bed together). However regardless of the cons my partner said she would happily stay there again. Not all bad. Overall we were happy with the accommodation.
- Michael (10/5): - The hotel and staff were amazing. We were in room 15 with a private terrace. Secluded and quiet. The room and bathroom are small but it is an old building and, lets face it, when you are travelling you room is used to shower and sleep. We are very happy with our choice and would not hesitate to return to this hotel. The one recommendation i would make is to improve the "breakfast" they serve. We ended up going next door to the cafè for brealfast and coffee.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Not worth the money or the hassle. - The reason I didn’t give it the worst rating is because the location was the only good thing. It stated that there would be a view of the canal, but our view was of a courtyard. The front desk staff were not friendly at all, they all seemed extremely bothered by us. And the front desk is across the way from the rooms so you have to physically go there to ask them to open the building, which we didn’t mind but they did. You also have to leave your key at the desk when you leave the premise which was a huge safety concern for us. In fact they gave us a lot of safety concerns; from holding on to the key when we left, insisting on holding on to our passports while we settled in to the hotel, and they told us they’d hold our luggage the last day but they were placed in the eating area where anyone would be able to go through it. The bathroom is shared by floor (we knew this so it wasn’t a big deal) but they chose the to clean it at 8am while we were trying to get ready to get our day started. I don’t see myself coming back to Venice, but if I do this would be the LAST hotel I’d stay at.
- sylwiak588 (2/5): AVOID because of BEDBUGS!!! - It's not a premium class hotel as you can see, but we knew about that. Generally it wasn't that bad. UNTIL BEDBUGS bite us! I have seen that bugs in our hotel room twice but I didn't knew whats that.. I thought that it's just an insect so i didn't care about that. UNTIL we got the rash. (by the way bed bugs are activ mainly at night and i saw it in daylight, early in the morning so i don't really wanna know how much of that is there). We've got bites everywhere and probably bugs are also in our house now!!! I sent them an e-mail with photos but apparently they don't care about that because i didn't get any answear. You should avoid this place!!!!

Hallways smells cigarette smoke like a run down hotel. I would NOT stay here nor recommend this hotel, sad to say even though it is close to the train station.
- michelv616 (8/5): Small family-run hotel, very correct - The Minerva hotel had been recommended to me by a friend. It is located in the Canareggio region, easily accessible from Marco Polo airport. Take the AliLaguna boat from the airport, then second stop Guglie, from there on you only have to walk five minutes to the hotel (their website explains how to get there). It's a small budget hotel that offers rooms at a decent price. Continental breakfast included. Ask for a room at the back, it's much more quiet then at the front. Friendly multilingual staff. Rooms and bathroom are ok, not very big but everything is adequate. We paid 50€ pp./night and found that ok. I will certainly return there for my next trip to La Serenissima.

Be aware there is no air conditioning and so you need to leave window open. The window opens to a VERY busy street with pedestrians going by and talking loudly till 2am and about 5am the garbage is collected and you here the clattering of suitcases of people headed to the train station dragging suitcases on brick streets. VERY, very noisy!

The moment you walk in they try to offer you a room with a bathroom in another location for extra money of course.Our room was very small with no AC, fan or a TV on 3rd floor.There were 6 rooms, 1 bathroom and 1 shower and it was crowded in the evening.There were 2 small soaps and 2 small towels in the room.When we inquired about bigger towels at the front desc we were told we had reserved room ONLY as if using the facilities was a privilege. The clerk was trying to convince us it was a standard practice all over the world which it is not.The hotel is overpriced for what they offered us,staff is not very welcoming and helpful, the only saving grace is the location.

- Sea (8/5): - The hotel’s location is perfect, right at the heart of Venice, near train and ferry stations. Many shops and restaurants nearby. It can be noisy but I like this vibrant atmosphere. The bed’s linens are comfy and the room’s view to the street is cute. The room’s decoration is stylistic which made me feel like home. However, it is inconvenient that we have to ask the receptionists from across the street to open the apartment’s door everytime we wanted to go back to our rooms. We booked 2 rooms and 1 room missed the heater. The shower’s water heated up very slowly.

I left a pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones in the desk drawer in the room whilst we went out and they subsequently went missing. Staff refused to help us with this. I have emailed multiple times since our stay there a few weeks ago and have yet to even receive a response.
