Guest Reviews
- Hannah (5/5): Dirty and the staff wasn’t friendly. - It was in a good location. It was dirty and my room smelled bad. There was an overflowing garbage can and a pile of dirty bedding near the elevator for almost an entire day. It sat there til I alerted the front desk. There was a blood stain on my bedding.
- KimB11125 (2/5): Bed Bugs - Just Say No! - I would just say "no" to this property. We found a live bed bug in the bed crawling on my husband our last night there after 8 nights in the hotel. We then noticed that he had bug bites on him that appeared to be bed bug bites. After reaching out to the property, they said all they could do is credit us for 1 night. I am a Marriott loyalist and have stayed in other properties AFTER this incident but will NEVER stay in this property again. Especially given their nonchalant response to our report of bed bugs. And I asked if they would reimburse us for cleaning the suitcases of clothing and our bags, we were told to go to the laundromat and place the items in the dryer on high heat to kill any bed bugs you might have brought home. So given their response and their lack of desire to "make this right", I felt the need to move forward with this review. Note the pics below. But I do have video of the room with the same items on the nightstand proving this is the hotel and room we stayed in if you need further proof this is their hotel.

- angelicam473 (10/5): SHOUTOUT TO RUTH AND DONNA! - we had a great experience with our 2 night stay. Shoutout to Ruth and Donna, who were so delightful and caring. They were very accommodating and helpful with our silly requests and questions. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a full kitchenette and refrigerator. The free breakfast was typical with oatmeal, yogurt, eggs etc.. They had great coffee. Surprisingly, oat-milk was available. We accidentally left an airpod in the bed and Donna found it for us !!

- Aaron (9/5): Amazing property and staff. Highly recommend - Loved the location, pool amenities, cleanliness and friendly staff Nothing at all. We had an amazing stay
- Dana (10/5): - We didn't spend much time at the hotel outside of sleeping and breakfast but the room was very nice and clean and spacious. As for breakfast, there were some basics but not a very big spread.
- Mao (9/5): -
- Crystal (10/5): - Everything it was the best hotel I have ever been to The outside fireplace was broke
- Janelle (6/5): Pool was cold! Freezing really. The room and hotel were clean. Breakfast was free but I could tell I was eating free bre - Location! Some of the staff were rude
- Shannon (8/5): Good stay - Overall was good. Somehow got locked out of our room and the woman working the night shift downstairs was annoyed when I asked for help because she had to get up and put her shoes back on.
- jenniferaW9144OH (2/5): Unprofessional staff / False advertising-room does not accommodate 5 - lied too about rate when we arrived - I am just shocked!! So unprofessional!! Stay somewhere else. Dirty hotel, broken bathtub drain upon arrival (see pictures) , a pull out couch that we discovered late at night that was unbearable for my 10 year old son to sleep on. Giant bar going across with a bunch of pokey springs.
Toothpaste sprayed on the mirror upon arrival (see pictures). Air conditioners smelled musty.
We asked the front desk woman for a rollaway at midnight so my son could sleep. We were given a ton of excuses- “wait for the shift change person” “we don’t know where it is and if we even have one” “you will be charged $15 a day”
After 2 hours of going back in forth- we gave up and decided to leave because there were not enough beds for our family. They would not refund us despite all this. Called to resolve in a professional manner with the manager - she hung up on us! A week later we receive an email defending her staff which at this point i feel is beyond unprofessional and quite frankly harassment. I will be continuing to escalate this to a higher level and unfortunately probably will not be staying at Marriott’s in the future.
- Marty (10/5): Stay was lovely overall. - It was newer, well appointed and covered our needs. It took 45 minutes to check in due to an error on your end. We booked and prepaid for 2 rooms, but due to your lack of accurate room tax information, their system denied us the second room. After our persistent clerk called your customer service, this was resolved. But, IT TOOK TOO LONG!!! Marriott staff did all she could do for us. Clean up the back end so the tax information is good.
- KENYA (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious and updated. Me and my friend were visiting the city for a concert. The hotel was within walking distance of good restaurants, the staff was friendly checking in and out. I’ll be definitely staying here each time I come to Detroit.
- Magdalena (9/5): - Wygodne łóżka, czystość. Słabe śniadanie, pieczywo, owsianka, dżemy kawa, herbata, napoje, bekon, omlet. Koniec. Żadnych owoców i warzyw, dodatkow do kanapek lub sałatki.
- Allen (8/5): -
- Lashonda (4/5): - I got threatening to get put out for no apparent reason
- Cornelius (10/5): - Excellent stay
- Hafedh (8/5): - Good attitude
- Marko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlene (8/5): Very good - Location and room size Bathroom was clogged until last day. Lots of paint everywhere.
- Angela (1/5): Bad - Nothing I didn't like the fact that you allowed me to book when you have RENOVATIONS going on. I'm not spending my vacation waking up to loud pounding every morning or neither throughout the day. I didn't want debris falling onto my rental causing damages either.. most importantly I booked for the pool for my kids and that wasn't available either. SO NO I'M NOT PAYING TO STAY HERE. IF THIS HAD BEEN NOTED I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOOKED WITH YOU ALL. AND I'M NOT PAYING A CANCELATION FEE
- Meejan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dean (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (10/5): - We had a nice stay.
- Washington (9/5): Superb -
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional - Staff and cleanliness of the Hotel were A-1!
- David (6/5): - The room was tired. The food was marginal. There was no real closet to hang good clothes. It was OK.
- lee (2/5): - Me and my family came here to enjoy the swimming pool to find out after we got in. It was saturated with chemicals and it burned their eyes.
- Carole (10/5): Great suite - Great size suites. Comfortable beds. Plenty of supplies for kitchen.
- Rolanda (9/5): Superb -
- Lawrencia (10/5): - Stayed for almost a week loved the two bedroom
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- Ebony (7/5): This property could have been cleaner. -
- Deshawnda (10/5): - Optimal customer service experience
- Christine (10/5): - Very clean and nice
- Kincaid (8/5): NICE BUT COST TO MUCH! - ALL BUT TO EXPENSIVE TO EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!
- Tramaine (10/5): Excellent stay! Can’t for wait for another. - Clean and quiet. The hot tub was not working. But the temperature of the water was still very relaxing.
- Robert (10/5): - Nice
- Anthony (9/5): Would happily recommend. feel safe and clean. - Friendly staff and clean ! Lots of smell of Cannibis from those who vape. It is everywhere you go now outside and inside of all places.
- Timothy (10/5): Sensational Staff!! - The staff at the desk at Townplace are absolutely phenomenal and the nicest people I’ve come across in the hotel industry and I’ve traveled a ton. We stayed here this week based 99% on the staff after staying there the week before. We will absolutely stay here anytime we are in Detroit area!!!
- Riley (10/5): Exceptional - It was quiet, comfortable beds with a nice room, excellent breakfast with a friendly staff. The only thing was the jacuzzi was not hot and the pool was very cold. The purpose of staying there was so we could go swimming with our daughter and use the jacuzzi. They did make my extra night stay cheaper and got us to be able to go to the hotel next door to use their pool and jacuzzi
- Laura (10/5): Perfect - Breakfast was surprisingly good Nothing
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional - The room size was really nice, especially for a family of 6 I was expecting more options for breakfast.
- Keith (8/5): - Pool was a bit cold
- Tania (10/5): - Freindly staff.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellis (9/5): Great location, great room, comfortable bed. -
- Kendra (6/5): 2 bedroom suite - The beds are way too small for a suite. The towneplace in Kansas has much bigger beds and two bathrooms in the suite which obviously led to disappointment.
- Tiffany (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. I took my family on a little getaway even though we was only 20 minutes away from home. Plus it was my little baby birthday. She just turned 3. She loves the pool. Everything was amazing.. I didn’t get up to have any breakfast but my kids said it could’ve been better. Other than that everything was perfect..
- Dominique (10/5): - My stay was nice and quiet
- Daniquea (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Michigan adventure! - Located centrally to my travel destination
- Cazar (9/5): Superb -
- Larry (6/5): - The stay was ok! Didn’t like that animals are allowed to stay on any floor.
- Beth (7/5): Good - The bed was very comfortable. The smell of the cleaning chemicals was so strong it made me nauseous. We had to open a window to try and breathe. Wouldn’t return for that reason.
- Osun (10/5): - .
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (5/5): Would have been happy with the stay if it wasn’t for the exorbitant pet fee. - Everything fine except for…. (pet owners, see below!) $150 pet fee!! I have never had to pay anything above $50. Chose this place to save money, but ended up paying double the price that I expected.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice property but needs to call pest control - Very nice property and staff. They need to call pest control because there were flies and gnats in the lobby where they served breakfast
- Christopher (8/5): - Property was exactly as described. Clean, friendly staff, good, safe location. Lots of road construction in the area during the day. Breakfast was lacking. Would definitely stay here again!
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - Clean Nothing
- Rosemary (10/5): - N/a
- Keveta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tinisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sondra (8/5): Convenient for Business - TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Troy was a great hotel! Check-in was fast and the staff were friendly. My room, a Studio King, had all the amenities one would need for an extended stay and was very clean. This specific location was conveniently located near several restaurants. Definitely would stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Towel Exchange is a Hassle - No issues with the hotel, but getting replacement towels are an act of congress. There were 3 people in the room for 6 days and only given two towels/wash cloths at a time. You have to take the used ones to the front desk to get replacements and it was EXTREMELY inconvenient with 3 people showering daily.
- Laura (8/5): It was overall a great stay - Beautiful clean rooms! Staff was excellent No extra toilet paper in the rooms and trash bags were tiny
- Elvira (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean
- Demetrius (10/5): I’m going to stay here again! - The area of the hotel was perfect! We were surrounded by our favorite restaurants.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Breezy101 (10/5): Exceptional - It was great! The staff accept service animals with no questions and were very friendly. The room was clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't have a good snack selection, but that's based on my preferences.
- Holly (8/5): Very good -
- Reckyia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Staff as always were welcoming and friendly Only concern was shower curtain was cut short and didn't keep water from going onto bathroom floor
- Sara (10/5): - Hot tub,pool work out room
- Sara (10/5): - .
- Victoria (7/5): Good -
- Cregg (9/5): Superb - Spacious suite for reasonable price, very nice hotel
- Melissa (10/5): - For nice property
- Danielle (9/5): Superb -
- Latoya (10/5): - Property was awesome will stay there again
- Lee (8/5): - The Fact that it was a smooth transition
- Alter (8/5): We had a fun time for our daughters bday! - Over great staff & good hotel. Pool & Hot tub were fun for kids! It was so hot our air kept coming on right next to our beds which wasn’t great. Also the blanket that goes with the sofa bed was awful. Pool was pretty cold too but still overall I’d come back.
- Rosemary (10/5): - We will stay at this hotel again
