Guest Reviews
- Morris (2/5): - Unable to access the accommodation and received no communication from the site till 2100 by which time I had found other options
- Lisa (6/5): - Self-catering accomodation. Quiet neighbourhood central in Chepstow. Very nice bathroom and shower, room clean but very tight, no place for luggage. Extremely steep and narrow stairs, not for those with mobility issues. ;)
Nice little backyard, modern and equipped kitchen. Bed smelled weird (sour). Ok (apart from the smelly bed), but expensive for what you get.
- Ruth (6/5): - It was quite expensive for a basic room. There isnt a 24/7 desk as advertised although I didnt need them. The stairs are really steep and narrow which i think should be mentioned in the listing. The bed was very soft and i could feel the springs so i'm afraid i didn't sleep well.
- Carol (8/5): - Self catering - kitchen had all the facilities needed, including pint of milk provided for each room. Never saw the owners; only communicated online.
Room had everything needed. Great location.
A bit expensive for what it is.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay o - A beautiful property, lots of charm. A large room with lovely little details. A nice street in Chepstow too. Lots of amenities & extras, very helpful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble.
My only complaint is that I found the mattress was uncomfortable, I could feel the springs in places.
- Mark (10/5): Cosy Chepstow - A lovely, comfortable and well appointed property with comfortable bedrooms and cosy public areas. The owners gave us clear, easy to understand directions to book inland how to gain access to the property. A great place to stay in Chepstow.
- Julie (8/5): - Pleasant stay. Text confirmation with access codes sent promptly. Easy to access the property meaning we could come & go as we pleased. We stayed in the rum room over looking the one way road. The stairs to access the room are narrow but we were aware of this before we booked. Location perfect for us as we were attending a wedding at The Board School. Facilities spot on. Only issues we had were the smoke alarm beeping every few minutes right outside our room from 5am & work (refurbishment) going on over the road on the roof at 7am. Enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay again. Thanks.
- James (10/5): - Amazing stay with really great owners always happy to help
- IAN (6/5): Small low price guest house - Ok value for a last minute emergency stay and very handy location and parking. It was clean and tidy. Host was great with communication and instructions. Was a bit surprised to find 3 other rooms in the same small house. Not ideal if you have difficulty with tight stairs or want total privacy.
- Lester (10/5): - Had a great stay I would stay here again.
- Peter (10/5): - Lovely quaint house, close to town centre. Great communication from owner. So relaxing stay with 2 brilliant nights sleep. Will definitely be back
- Shannon (10/5): No8 is #1 - Have stayed before this time and will stay again. Clean, convenient to town, and overall wonderful to feel at home while abroad.
- Anthony (10/5): - Great little place.
- stephen (8/5): - Best viewed as boutique accommodation the central location is a big bonus. The double room we shared was on the 2nd floor reached by 2 steep narrow stairways.
Accepting the above our room was well equiped with a good shower. There is a shared kitchen and lounge downstairs including dishwasher, fridge and washing machine. Milk, tea, coffee and kettle provided in our room. Weather hot when we were there and with window open traffic was noisy in early morning.
Location very good close to castle, good restaurants and pubs and river wye and for this reason worthy of serious consideration
- JOHN (10/5): - Liked everything about this property. Clean and comfortable room. Only thing i would say is the double staircase is quite steep so would be a problem for some people.
- James (10/5): - Very clean room, easily accessible via door codes. Great facilities and centrally located.
- Mark (10/5): Lovely - Amazing quaint property right in the center of Chepstow , overnight parking off site but only £1.50 for 24 hours
Only 3 rooms for guests with a fully equipped shared kitchen.
We only stayed one night while passing through but will definitely stay again
- Gerald (10/5): Good - Good but steep stairs.
- Philip (10/5): Great stay in Chepstow - We stayed in the Whiskey Room which was a great size with a King Size bed. It had its own (huge) bathroom across the hall, only accessible to you.
The bed was comfy with fluffy pillows and the road the house is on is very quiet.
The house has a good size lounge that you have access to as well as the fully equipped kitchen. Also a rear garden with table & chairs, looked lovely but too cold to use in February :D
Its just a short stroll to town, and there is a huge tesco a few mins walk the other way so great amenities all round, and a great base to explore the Wye Valley.
- Nick (8/5): Central location ,spacious rooms ,good hosts. - Recommended will visit number 8 again.
Easy access and parking almost opposite made this a place to return to. The room was a good size and the bathroom spacious .The hosts were quick to respond and maintained communication via text throughout our stay which was really helpful. parking in the municipal car park opposite the property costs £1.50 a day but it doesn't roll over to the next day so be warned and parking starts at 8:30 in the morning .
- Craig (10/5): Quick and easy booking. Very clean and warm. - Our stay at No8 was great. Upon booking we had a text come straight through telling us the front door code, what room we were in and the code for that room too. This was ideal as we had literally come from a nightmare hotel and needed something booked ASAP - this hotel had a room available and we were booked and checked in within minutes. The room was clean, warm and everything we would want for a 2 night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Weekend wedding trip - Our stay was fantastic the hosts couldn’t have been more helpful. The property was lovely and despite sharing the house it felt very private. Chepstow is lovely as well.
- P W (4/5): Clean but quirky accommodation. - Accommodation has been renovated to a good standard but as an old building the doors and stairs are not suited to tall or large people.
Our booking confirmation stated a free breakfast but the kitchen and lounge were closed due to covid so breakfast was not provided. Had I known I would not have booked. I did tell Craig, the owner that and he did try to be helpful.
- Ron&Julie (10/5): - We were really pleased with the accommodation, it was exactly as described and as shown on the photographs. The room was really clean with the comfiest of beds. The accommodation is located very close to Chepstow centre and walking distance of the castle. Craig was very helpful and sent a number of text messages giving us advice and information. All in all a great experience and would definitely book again .
- D (10/5): Great clean, first choice for Chepstow - This place is amazing if you want a really nice place to stay and a self service style of hotel. It is perfect for me, always my first choice when choosing Chepstow!
Good communications from owner, all good!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent communication from the host
Great location, parking close by which was cheap.
Lots of places to eat
Easy train links
- Gail (10/5): Brilliant little place - Perfect location in Chepstow, we had the Gin room, and whilst not the biggest room I've ever stayed in, it was absolutely perfect for our short stay. Very clean, very comfortable, everything you need. Breakfast was basic cereals, yoghurt, toast but facilities there if you want to create your own full English. And tesco is 5mins away. Would definitely stay again. And would 100% recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was easy to arrive and access the property. Craig was great with communicating the access codes and a short video. There is street parking available and a car park within short walking distance. Centrally located in Chepstow so we could walk everywhere.. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen, the rooms were spacious, and the bathrooms had new showers, sinks. Would definitely stay here again!
- David (8/5): Fab Stay - Lovely room in a great location..
- Richard (10/5): Cosy, clean, convenient - Lovely place, very comfy and relaxing. Left my phone charger and Craig has very helpful about keeping it safe till a friend could get there. Hope to go back.
- Brenda (4/5): Disappointed - This place was fine as an Airbnb, but we were expecting a hotel. It was all do-it-yourself. If we had known this ahead of time, we probably wouldn't have booked here. Advertised a full breakfast, and I guess we could have cooked one for ourselves, but stayed with the continental that was available. We received our codes for entering the building and our room the morning of our arrival. We never saw our host. The rooms are all upstairs, and the stairs are steep and narrow. I would definitely not recommend this to an older couple. Probably would be fine for young couple on a budget, but it needs to be advertised for what it is, NOT a hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great accommodation! - Great stay, only the lack of fresh coffee let the venue down.
- Sheila (8/5): Comfortable - Lovely location. Owners brilliant communication (needed to ask for something on a Sunday with immediate response)
Very comfortable bed. Homely. We had the whisky room which was very spacious, with everything we needed.
Only negative was creaking floorboards, our upstairs neighbours sadly got up at 6.20 on Sunday and I'm a light sleeper so followed all movements for an hour.
Nice lounge, everything required in the kitchen. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Decor finished to a high standard. Parking just across the road or outside property if you can get a space.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Renovated small house with acoustic shortcuts, car parking space is missing, good for longer B&B stays (self service), not ideal for taller persons, make sure you are always online to get the key number for the front door in short notice... ( phone number indicated by hotels.com did not work)
- Sue (8/5): Good - Good location, rooms very comfortable and clean. Stairs are very steep. Not much of a choice for breakfast and no butter.
- Paul (10/5): Great Self Service Bed & Breakfast - Great idea. Three storey house comprising of a lounge and country kitchen. Three double rooms. Received door codes the morning of the stay and let ourselves in. Didn't need to speak or see any staff during the stay. Welcome YouTube video explains everything.
Rooms furnished to high quality. Kitchen has tea coffee fresh milk, and breakfast is cereals, toast, hot cross buns, yogurts, spreads, orange juice. Help yourself.
Would recommend.
- Jamie (8/5): Quiet and friendly - Very pleasant stay, felt at home and very friendly staff.
- John (8/5): very convenient - Good arrangement in property, good location and in clean condition
- Neil (10/5): Fantastic self service B&B - I have used No 8 a number of times for business and have been highly impressed with the comfort, cleanliness and accessibility of the guest house. Check in is a breeze, Richard the owner texts you access codes for the front and room doors. He also outlines exactly how to use the codes and all the services of the guest house via a short Youtube video.
The room is very comfortable with excellent decor and a really nice and modern en suite. You can also use the kitchen which is well stock with utensils, tea coffee and biscuits and help yourself to a lovely continental breakfast. Guests can also use the living room and TV.
Parking is free overnight outside or at a nearby car park. Bars and restaurants are a short walk away and the excellent Rum Bar offers tasty Caribbean food with the burgers out of this world! The local Baa IPA is also fantastic and the bar also does takeaways. Highly recommended. A great little place to stay when visiting Chepstow and the local area.
- Duncan (10/5): What a gem of a place! - Wow, what a place this is! Chepstow is such a quaint place and this is at the heart of it in location. The room was immaculate and one of the things I loved was the privacy. Many Thanks, next time I'm in Chepstow, I will be looking to see if this place is available.
- Chris (10/5): A great place, particularly for a small group - No.8 is simply a terraced house, with 3 very smart and clean bedrooms, a decent spacious kitchen and a big comfy living room. So there's plenty of space to eat, sleep and relax. Just like being at home! It's also 2 minutes from the High St, so very well situated. Parking isn't ideal, but there is a public car park around 100m walk, which is free parking overnight.
I was diving, and it would be a great place for a group visiting the NDAC. Plenty of space for everyone's car in the car park, and very convenient to get a takeaway. There's a decent sized garden for drying off kit, and more than enough power points.
