Guest Reviews
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb - The very comfortable room, delicious breakfast was further enhanced by the jolly host. Can't think of anything
- Jan (10/5): Excellent location and on site parking - The breakfast was available and a good time-slot given. I didn’t have any as was having with friends who live in Bideford.
The room was decorated lovely and very comfortable room.
Friendly owner and lovely atmosphere. Full length mirror would be a bonus
- Christopher (9/5): Very pleasant and comfortable stay with friendly caring host. - Lovely room and building, great bathroom. English breakfast not available but nevertheless it was an excellent spread esp fresh fruit salad. Comfortable bed! Andrew was a Lovely host! Various websites give a landline number for The Mount which is no longer valid. Seemed to lack a common area to relax especially outside. Websites promote that property is licenced but it was not.
- Anthony (9/5): Our stay was enjoyable and our room was very good - There was a good selection at breakfast but no cooked items which you had to help yourself to everyone sharing one table. The setting of the house was ideal but the car parking was quite tight
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dianne (10/5): Only one night but very happy. - Lovely hotel. We were expecting a taxi to pick us up at the Quay from the Lundy boat but it did not show up and the owner kindly gave my Mum a lift to her hotel 2 miles away. Recommend.
- Katherine (10/5): Warm, welcoming stay - Warm and comfortable rooms. Shower pressure was good and everything was clean. Small decorative items made the rooms homely. Thoroughly enjoyed sharing the breakfast table with other guests and chatting about our travels. Fantastic continental breakfast options with plenty on offer. Nothing
- Anonymous (8/5): Enjoyable and friendly and informative host - Position to the town and quay was good. Staggered breakfast times as room was a little cramped for more than 4
- Virginia (10/5): Exceptional - bedroom and bathroom were both fantastic - extremely comfortable, spacious and clean.
hosts were friendly and were able to accept our late arrival via keybox
- Alexandra (10/5): Welcoming host . Very comfortable stay. - Continental breakfast was very good Nothing
- John (9/5): Peaceful, comfortable room in a delightful area of the country. - Superb location, 5 minute walk from the town centre and well placed to explore the beautiful surrounding area. Host very friendly and helpful. Lovely large walk- in shower. Quiet area, peaceful night’s sleep The Mount does not operate a housekeeping policy, all right for a night or two but we stayed for four and would have welcomed bins being emptied and clean cups and glasses, without having to ask. Breakfast was good but would have enjoyed more variety eg pastries, hard boiled eggs.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful guesthouse with large bedroom and bathroom. Sitting around the same table as other guests at breakfast.
- Jean (10/5): Exceptional - Great room with large bathroom, lovely host and very nice breakfast. I would happily stay there again. There wasn't anything that I didn't like, everything was excellent.
- Tom (10/5): Excellent location and rooms, including reception room for chilling with friends. - Luxury room, with excellent views with beautiful bathroom and shower.
- Helen (10/5): Beautifully decorated and luxurious accommodation. - Beautifully decorated and spacious accommodation. Andrew our host gave helpful suggestions of where to visit in the area. Good choice for breakfast which is continental. The dining room is a little cramped but we enjoyed the social aspect of meeting other guests around the communal table. Overall an excellent stay.
- Lesley (9/5): Superb - Excellent location short walk to quay and shops. Breakfast was continental plenty of choice to please everyone. Andrew very friendly, informative on places to visit and where to eat. Everyone sat on the same large table with very little room around it so was a little awkward with the serve yourself breakfast.
- Paul (10/5): Everything was just perfect. - Wonderful room and great breakfast.
- Jules (10/5): Enjoyable stay! - We had a very warm welcome from Andrew the host. The Guest House is peaceful and pleasant. Great location, walking distance into the town.
- Sue (9/5): Very comfortable short stay. - Very comfortable with friendly and obliging host. Nothing to dislike.
- Derek (9/5): Warm and friendly welcome on arrival. - The location fitted our requirements perfectly. Warm, comfortable and welcoming.
We were greeted on arrival and shown our room, spot on!
We were also given local information on where to get our evening meal. As above the accommodation met with our requirements perfectly.
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautiful house and a very comfortable stay - Beautiful home made very comfortable for guests - easy access to the town centre and not far from the Coast Path for the walkers amongst us! The room was tastefully decorated and had all you need; super shower, little fridge for proper milk, gorgeous bed…A lovely garden too for relaxing. Delicious breakfast in the morning and Andrew was on hand to look after everyone very well. I can’t think of anything! It is on quite a busy road but that’s it.
- Stephen (10/5): Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! - Personal attention to my needs , early start to catch lundy ferry. Personal welcome, and local information. Would stay here again without question. Thank you.
- Rick (10/5): Outstanding - Everything - immaculate , comfortable, spotlessly clean and a super host. Nothing
- Rhys (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (8/5): Very comfortable and central to everywhere in Bideford - The bed, the room and the bathroom were very comfortable and spacious.
The host was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was advertised as a continental one so we didn't expect anything cooked but I would have liked an egg.
Although my husband likes cereal I don't so the only option was toast, although we did get given a croissant on one of the days but not the other.
- Austin (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (9/5): Wonderful building and host, breakfast poor. - Everything We thought the breakfast was a little poor, with no hot food available, great if you only want a continental style breakfast, but we are in England and expect something cooked.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Ken (10/5): A wonderful and memorable stay in a beautiful room. - We had the King room with garden views, which was spacious, tastefully furnished and immaculately clean with an extremely comfortable bed. The large, superlative bathroom had a marvelous center piece free standing bath tub which made my stay most memorable. Andrew, the host, was friendly, knowledgeable and always on hand to help and advise. Full use was offered of an excellent dining room and marvelous lounge. An outstanding two days which was difficult to surpass. Nothing to possibly dislike.
- Whoopi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerri (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (9/5): A beautiful home within striking distance of Bideford Quay. - We left very early, but the owner left us milk, cereal and tea/coffee. It’s a beautiful home and all rooms were doubles with en suite facilities. The only thing I can think of is that it would have been good to have a bath mat to come out of the shower - which tells you how much was right with the property.
- Tom (10/5): Lovely host and location. - Great location, lovely personal feel and warm welcome. Fantastic bathroom and shower Nothing
- Rosana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthea (10/5): Exceptional - Loved staying at The Mount! Comfortable, clean and made to feel very welcome. Walking distance to shops, places to eat, and the beach! Definitely would return Nothing to complain about

- Paula (9/5): Superb -
- Holly (9/5): Perfect BnB, warm hosts, and lovely town area very close by. - An absolutely brilliant week at the BnB. Beautiful room and house, peaceful area and wonderful hosts. Thank you Andrew and Heather.
- Katherine (10/5): Lovely down to earth B&B - Heather and Andrew were both very welcoming. Our room was exceptionally nice with a big bathroom. Downstairs there was use of a shared lounge and breakfast area with a microwave. Hotel was a good location for a wedding at Beaconside House. Very nice continental breakfast and parking outside 🙂 Nothing!!
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful guest house. Owners are friendly. Off street parking. Convenient location.
- Mark (8/5): Elegant, friendly, well appointed & close to the centre of town with good access to the Tarka Trail - Breakfast was a cold buffet but very acceptable. Kerry found the bed too firm, it was ok for me. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We used the Mount as a base to cycle the Tarka Trail which can be accessed just a 5 minute ride away. It was a little expensive, and some hot food at breakfast would have been the cherry on top. As mentioned Kerry struggled with the hardness of the bed.
- Aidan (8/5): Good - Clean, good facilities and central location You needed to ask to get new towels and fresh milk etc
- William (10/5): Exceptionally comfortable stay in the heart of Bideford - Lovely old house , beautifully maintained and presented. Comfortable and welcoming Nothing
- Bart (9/5): Superb - Rooms were clean as well as spacious. Hosts were very welcoming and provided a great breakfast. Nothing
- Graham (9/5): A home from home. Heather and Andrew could not have done more for us. - This was a perfect stay for us. Beautiful room and very large, modern bathroom with huge roll top bath and spacious shower. We even had a small fridge in our room, which made it perfect for keeping the milk cold. The Continental breakfast provided everything we liked, and the host and hostess were very friendly and helpful. The whole place was spotless and beautifully decorated. Parking was easy and part of the garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The guest house wasn't immediately obvious from the road, though the sat nav did take us exactly to where it was located.
- Dianne (10/5): A charming room in a great location, comfortable and welcoming. - Lovely room in a quiet location, easy walk into town for dinner. Breakfast was great. Friendly, helpful hosts.
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Emily (10/5): A fantastic B&B with gorgeous features and amazing hosts. - An amazing stay at this b&b. The hosts are so welcoming and make you feel at home immediately. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spacious, have everything you need for an overnight stay. The bathrooms are spacious and have lovely hot rain showers. The breakfast is fantastic and have lots of healthy choices for a buffet breakfast. We really loved our stay here and would return again. Nothing!
- Emily (10/5): A gorgeous B&B with lovely hosts! - A lovely property with period features. A fantastic welcome from the owners who make you feel at home from the start. Really comfy beds and a fantastic breakfast. The rooms a really spacious, modern bathrooms and the rooms have all the facilities you would expect. The breakfast is buffet style but the hosts have thought of everything you might like. Nothing, it was fantastic.
- Philip (8/5): Had a great stay and would book again if we went again to Bideford - The amount was very good and the hosts were lovely people Every thing was good
- Renee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theresa (8/5): Very good -
- Jackie (10/5): Brilliant - From start to finish it was excellent very friendly and helpful
Continental breakfast was lovely All perfect
- Stephen (10/5): A delightful stay. - Exceptional continental breakfast with the opportunity to meet other guests around the dining table.
Lovely period decor; a guests’ sitting room; on site car parking.
The friendliness of the hosts, Andrew and Wendy. Sat Nav took us to the wrong end of the road - instructions to disregard Sat Nav and turn in to The Mount just after the roundabout, would be helpful.
- Julie (10/5): Fantastic luxury B&B. - Beautiful house. Lovely big room very comfortable. Amazing en-suite with huge shower. The owner was so friendly and helpful.
Extensive continental breakfast selection. Nothing.
- Alan (8/5): Very good - Continental Breakfast not keen on one table fits all.
- Dorothy (9/5): It was an ideal stay for us and we would go again if ever in that area. - Location was fine for our needs and the breakfast was great.
- Nadina (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable, spotlessly clean and a fantastic breakfast.
- John (9/5): Great, so if you are still open next April, I'll be back! - Wish I did not have to rush away to Barnstaple to get a train. Just to note that the outflow from the shower was very slow, so a dose of drain cleaner might be appropriate. Also I could not find a way to raise the window. Maybe my ineptness though!
- Wendy (8/5): A short very pleasant stay with off road parking. Perfect for us. - Breakfast was good with a large choice. I personally would have liked some nuts and fresh berries to put with Greek yoghurt but that's just my preference. Some ham would also have been nice as there was no cooked option and I don't like salami!
Excellent accommodation and convivial hosts. Would stay there again. All good
- Nikita (10/5): A delight, wonderfully warm welcoming and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble - Comfortable, warm, welcoming, attention to details for comfort of guests, very clean
- Alison (9/5): Very short stay which met all my needs. It was lovely chatting to Heather. - I saw very little as I arrived quite late and left at 9 am in the morning.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower gorgeous.
Good selection of good food at breakfast. I need bigger coffee cups for a good latte. The coffee was lovely and there's a good milk frother but to enjoy both there needs to be a bigger cup.
- Carmel (7/5): Good -
- Brooks (9/5): Superb - We stayed here 10 years ago and this time our stay was just as good! The hosts were extremely friendly, the beds were comfortable, the rooms was very quiet and clean and we really enjoyed the continental breakfast. All in all a great place to stay when in Bideford.

- Joanna (9/5): Amazing host! - The host was very lovely, friendly and accommodating. Thank you! Beautiful house! Breakfast is little basic, but that might be because we were the last ones to have it.
- Gary (10/5): Well located, friendly and quiet - Unusual selection of breaðs Na
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Lovely and quiet. Spacious room and a very comfortable bed.
- Susan (9/5): Highly recommend - Very good selection of things for breakfast. Comfortable, clean room. Nice to have some fresh milk in a mini fridge in the room. Very pleasant host. Good location. Parking onsite is definitely a plus too. This isn't a criticism but I prefer a firmer mattress so the bed was a little soft for me.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good - There is car parking, but it’s very tight, depending on how many other guests are staying. No lift.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
