Guest Reviews
- Christopher (10/5): - Very comfortable and welcoming.
Breakfast was outstanding! Nothing
- Graeme (10/5): Barbara has a great eye for interior design and there are beautiful touches throughout the property. Our bathroom was ma - Beautifully and tastefully decorated
- Arno (9/5): Geweldige gastvrouw!

- Sean (10/5): Unique hospitality with a fine dining excellence! - Well...... this is a place well worth the detour. The Ibis, Stirling restaurant run by Barbara offers an authentic Karoo tasting menu which is well worth trying. Not only are you staying in the middle of the desert but now you can now taste it. And not at Cape Town fine dining prices either! The town is rather quiet and probably suites most visitors looking for serenity and peace! The rooms was comfortable with just the right amount of karma for a happy stay! Nothing at all. Well worth every cent spent and more!
- Ian (10/5): I have stayed with Barbara many times. It’s just a huge joy to see her and stay at her hotel. - Warm and friendly - great location. Na

Owner Barbara was a wonderful hostess and very accommodating as we had to change the date booked.
She also cooks for their on site restaurant which served a wonderful dinner in the enclosed courtyard.
And a lovely full breakfast the next day.

Host’s could not have been more welcoming and helpful and the staff were most professional. The in-house restaurant is excellent and breakfast very good. - Wilson (10/5): Beautiful garden, lovely host, great breakfast. - Beautiful garden, lovely pool, excellent service.
- Dean (10/5): Careful thought and attention to detail by the host, Barbara, make this a must stay destination. - The small details around the house, from the owl in the garden to the recycled tin roof headboards and SA Railway chairs in our room, make this a place you want to stay in. That we missed dinner either our host who serves meals spoken of around the town, from Friday to Tuesday. Not to worry - Barbara went out of her way to book us dinner at the restaurant down the road.

The room was beautiful and we loved the door that opened out onto the pool area. Breakfast was good too. I loved that sanitary products are kept in the bathroom for guests in case you forgot to bring any. Lovely attention to detail.

- Broodryk (9/5): - Barbara is an excellent host. Location is perfect. Food is very good.
- van zyl (7/5): good value for money - valley for many, good fridge on the floor could be lift a bid.
- Jean (7/5): Pleasant few days in quirky town. - Convenient location. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom with bath and shower. Good cooked breakfast. Friendly host. Plugs hanging below TV with blue light shining onto us in bed!! No wardrobe and little space to put own things.
- Karen (10/5): Barbara and her partner were great hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel at home! - Attention to detail. Everything we needed was available. Location was good Nothing to not like

- Bianca (10/5): So cosy…and the FOOD is excellent. The best of the Karoo in one place. - The room, the facilities, the food, oh goodness - the food, was exceptional. It was matched by the gracious, warm and professional host, Barbara and her staff. Highly recommended.
- Heather (10/5): A perfect place to stay we go back time and time again - Everything
- Wessel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect!!!
- Carmina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mynhardt (10/5): Great stay - Very friendly staff. Beautiful room Nothing
- Jenny (8/5): Peaceful harmony - Friendly staff. Central. Comfortable. Lovely breakfast. The rusks in the room were very yummy! The property was comfortable but the locks were very difficult to navigate. We found this very frustrating trying to get in and out of the property. I wasn’t aware that I had to ask for our room to be serviced. Perhaps the staff can ask when the room can be serviced or alternatively a tag which can hang at the door indicating that the room can be cleaned would be great.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Esther (9/5): Barbara is a very good host - Warm hospitality
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Natasha (10/5): A TREAT YET AGAIN - Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, friendly hosts and staff, plus an amazing Karoo Food Experience at the Restaurant. Always a treat to stay at the Ibis!
- Trevor (10/5): Charming and homely stay in N-B. - Barbara was extremely friendly and helpful, always ensuring that our needs were met. The room was large enough for 2 and comfortable with storage space. Nothing
- William (9/5): Cosy stay in the centre of village. - Spacious room, comfortable bed and great bathroom facilities. In the centre of the quant village. Nothing
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional - Clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was exellent. Entrance needs attention. Outside light at back door at swimming pool didn't work and was very dark coming back after dark.
- Swanepoel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prinsloo (9/5): Superb -
- Carol (10/5): Very pleasant stay - Everything was wonderful, we really enjoyed our stay Nothing to not like
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Linda (8/5): A lovely guesthouse surrounded by beautiful roses! - The guesthouse was well situated in the center of the little village, the room was spacious and comfortable and the facilities in the room was well appointed for a convenient stay. The host was most helpful with advice on restaurants, cash access and fuel availability, a thoughtful extra touch. The Lady who received us was super friendly and helpful and cooked us a delicious breakfast the following day. The garden was filled with lovely white roses and the decor was interesting and artistic. A very pleasant experience overall. No recommendations come to mind
- Steve (8/5): This historic town was absolutely fascinating and Ibis Lounge fits in well. The host was great. - This little town is just amazing, and Ibis Lounge fits into it well. The building and its layout are interesting.
We were greeted with a friendly mint spritzer and a big smile and our host was great through a difficult power outage.
Breakfast was very nice and served in a lovely room. It is a dusty town and, because it's a heritage building, the room size was a bit skimpy, but beds were comfy.
Some aspects of the cleanliness of corners and nooks and crannies could do with attention.
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (9/5): Superb - Very good breakfast in lovely dining room. Good local knowledge
- Bernard (8/5): Excellent stay over - We had an excellent dinner at the Ibis restaurant as well as a very nicely prepared breakfast In general we have nothing to complain about and will recommend the Ibis
- Lub (8/5): I had a great stay and Barbara is a gem of a host! - Wonderfull characterful old building, excellently situated. Not so much as what i did not like about the property, but suggestions on what would be great improvements.
-for the majestically high ceilings, Ceiling insulation would work wonders for the temperature inside the rooms and the building itself, for both winter and summer, would also be a great energy saver. ( probably not really possible having , what i could observe, a “flat” roof.
- in the spacious room, a small bench/table would be great for your luggage.
- The fridge would also benefit by lifting it off the floor, by means of a little table
- in my bathroom, the basin’s water supply needs to be identified, as the hot and cold water taps are incorrectly piped, leading to wasted water while waiting for hot water. (The taps for the beautiful stand alone bath, and enormous double shower are correctly supplied.
Just my 2c worth!
- Jacobus (9/5): Weird town, but very unique. - Pet Friendly.

- Debbie (8/5): Will definitely be back, was perfect for one night stay. - Breakfast delicious, very central within walking distance of all restaurants. Room was hot we eventually slept with window open.
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful staff .excellent breakfast Fan was broken as well as one nightlight and plugs didnt work so well.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - The hospitality, location, and atmosphere of this beautiful guesthouse are fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was also great! Thank you!
