- CHIAYI (9/5): - Raid
- Jackie (5/5): Bad - We have been going for many years. 12 years ago it was the best road in Marrakesh on trip advisor.
It is now run down. Badly run. Kettle in room but no milk or tea bags. No bottle of water in room. Very unclean upstairs with only 2 shabby sunbeds. Shower broken and soaked bathroom if used. I could go on. Real shame.
- Tatiana (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Thank you Yassine! You and all of your staff made our stay with you absolutely perfect! - The location is fantastic! It’s right in the middle of the Medina, walking distance to everything. The room and the rest of the property are exactly like the photos on line, stunningly beautiful! I highly recommend staying here. Nothing
- Noble (9/5): Great stay in traditional riad, in the heart of the Medina, close to souks & main square. - Lovely traditional riad, full of character. Great roof terrace with 360° views & Atlas Mountains. Staff very friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Good breakfast. Not impressed with meal at riad for the money paid...soup, no bread, one tagine between two, with lots of couscous, little meat, no dessert.
- Evelina (10/5): - Just like the other reviews, it really is a gem
- Giulia (10/5): - Amazing! Central location (few minutes walking from Jemaa el-fna), wonderful room, a peaceful terrace. From the moment we arrived the staff was very welcoming.

- MUSTAFA (10/5): -
- Mahshameen (5/5): - I think breakfast could be much better. I think the cleanliness in the bathroom would've been much better. The toilet seat was broken and the first day we showered there was water clogging

- Jonathan (9/5): Wonderful Riad in the heart of the medina. - Very attentive and helpful staff. Great breakfasts and excellent evening meal. Lovely peaceful terrace garden which is a welcome relief from the chaos and noise of the souks down below. Nothing. All good. We would thoroughly recommend to others. Very difficult to find though. Taxis cannot get close to the Riad so we were met from the drop off point by someone who led us through the souks and maze of passageways to get to the accommodation. Google maps is essential for getting round and not getting too lost.
- Mario (8/5): Intenso e interessante - L’atmosfera e l’arredo Niente in particolare
- Alessandra (10/5): -
- Joanne (9/5): -
- serena (9/5): -
- M_Alberto (9/5): - The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms wide and comfortable. The location is also very good
- Rene (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place to stay at the centre of Marrakesh, would recommend it. All the staff was also amazing with us thanks for all the hard work and support you have us during our stay.
- Genevieve (8/5): - Although the Riad is exceptionnally beautiful and comfortable, it is rather difficult to acces through a maze of back alleys and tunnels. Ths staff is very helpful and understanding, especially Yasin and Amina. The Riad is clean and the food is very good. I would recommend it for seasonned travelers.
- Andrea (5/5): Passable - the room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good and the place was generally well-kept. the riad is hard to reach, located in narrow alleys about 10 minutes from the nearest road for taxis. No useful info was given at check-in. The door lock with a padlock is awkward, the entrance gate is hard to open, hot water is not always available, and while Wi-Fi reaches most areas, the internet connection is often unstable. The safe was not usable and, despite asking for it to be fixed, nothing was done.
- Gaspard (10/5): Absolutely fabulous!! - Absolutely amazing! On all levels! Beautiful decorations, wonderful rooms, outstanding breakfast, great staff!
This was the best riad we stayed in on our holiday in Morocco, by far! The only annoying thing is the thick walls make wifi a bit complicated - but this is a minor inconvenience!
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional -
- De (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Amir (6/5): Pleasant -
- Emma (10/5): Most wonderful stay - We had the most wonderful time staying at the riad. Nothing was too much trouble for Yessine and his excellent staff.
The breakfasts were delicious, as was the dinner we had on the first night.
We brought our 7 month old baby and he was warmly welcomed.
The room was comfortable, spacious and quiet, providing respite from the busy Medina which was right on our doorstep.
Could not fault our stay at all, it was a perfect, authentic introduction to Marrakech life. Nothing!
- Kristyn (9/5): A lovely stay - Lovely location and beautiful atmosphere The hot water was not consistent and the water pressure was constantly changing.
- Nicolas (9/5): Central and quiet Which is unique in Marrakech Medina - The food and location The cleanliness of the rooftop
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming staff, very comfortable bed, clean, quiet, excellent breakfast - plenty of it too. Location was perfect. Can't fault it Nothing!
- Staltari (10/5): Exceptional - Very lovely and helpful staff made the stay very enjoyable.
- Allison (10/5): Couldn’t fault the hospitality - Excellent location Very central
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tomasz (10/5): Perfect place with perfect staff - Perfect location, staff, breakfast, view from tarrase, clean and safety
- Kelly (10/5): Wonderful gem of calm within the craziness that is marrakech - From the moment we arrived everyone was so friendly and welcoming, with a wonderful touch of a morrocan tea while you take in the beautiful riad.
Would definitely recommend that you book ur transfer with the hotel from the airport as finding it on your own would be a challenge 😉.
Can't thank everyone there enough for making it a truly fantastic holiday amd feeling like part of a family. Nothing
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Staff super helpful and friendly Slightly dark
- Jasna (10/5): everything was amazing :) -
- Lauren (10/5): Beautiful riad with great cooking! - This is such a beautiful riad with very friendly service. They will make you feel like you’re home. I would also recommend you order dinner here - it’s one of the best meals I had in Morocco and you can eat it on the rooftop terrace with wonderful views. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. The riad itself is beautiful and authentic.
- Agnieszka (8/5): Definalety positive experience - Great location in the centre of Medina
The staff was there always to help
Great rooftop Breakfast could have more variety of the products
It’s not easy to get there but this is due to the location and it is the same for majority of riads.
- Jennifer (10/5): The staff and management were amazing! Smiles every day, going out of their way to make us feel comfortable and securing - Beautiful old Riad in the Medina, gorgeous tile and woodwork throughout! I was a little nervous walking there at night.
- Melissa (10/5): Beautiful place with friendly, helpful staff! - Good location, fantastic staff, beautiful Riad, tasty dinners and a great city guide referral. The Riad dar Zaya itself and its staff were a real highlife of our visit! The Medina is really hard to navigate without a guide.
- Omid (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (9/5): Highly recommended - The location was great, right in the Medina. It is also just a beautiful building, very comfortable, with a gorgeous roof terrace. But mostly, everyone was so friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing! Not really a minus but I would recommend booking your airport transfer through the hotel as I can imagine it being very hard to find the first time!
- Yegor (10/5): Lovely riad and friendly staff. Location is great- close to the souks and the main square - Wonderful cozy ambiance Triple room didn’t have a bed - a layaway bed was brought in which was not very comfortable
- Nicholas (9/5): Gem of a place tucked away from the heavy tourist areas - Beautiful, traditional riad right in the Medina, but very calm and quiet. Great base for exploring. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good. Would come back No onsite spa services as indicated in thr amenities list, but there are lots of places close by and the staff can help
- Rebecca (10/5): I love Riad Dar Zaya! Amazing people, amazing experience - The place is so unique and so spectacular. I would love to stay there again if I were to return to Marrakech. The staff are all excellent, very welcoming, so genuine, and so helpful. I am so happy we stayed there; it's the true Morocco we traveled so far to experience. And right in the heart of the famous Souks markets Just like most other riads in old town Marrakech, the distance from the street to reach the actual Riad through multiple market tunnels on foot is a bit confusing, but the staff were very helpful and carried our bags and guided us through the rustic maze once we called them. I would not trade my experience for anything else.
- Roland (9/5): Superb -
- Shelyna (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, something of a historical Riad. The rooftop is great, and the pool is so refreshing. Close to Medina. The hotel had arranged transportation, we could not have found it otherwise. Google maps does not work here.
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - staff was most helpful!
- Simon (10/5): Great - Beautiful hotel in fantastic location in the heart of the old town. Very hard to find - it's a must to get the hotel staff to meet you somewhere easy and walk you in. They are extremely helpful. Nothing to criticise with the hotel- all fantastic. However a general comment on Marrakech It's easy to get taken taken advantage of by locals offering assistance and asking for lots of money who see tourists as an ATM and the motor bikes that race through the Medina are very dangerous to all and should be be banned
- Jessica (7/5): Good -
- Isabelle (6/5): stay clear until refurbished & pick your own experiences/excursions - -classic moroccan architecture
-smiley staff trying to help -pompous “suite”: just a room with
stained pillow cases and not so white towels
-far from international hospitality standards
-dirty upholstered chairs in room
-run down place
-staff good will ruined by a nonchalant attitude
-water wasn’t refilled daily although no drinking water on the tap
-recommended Marrakech by air excursion wasn’t up to standards +organiser/ pilot almost rude comments were borderline
- FRANCISCO (2/5): - AWFUL Place. It's not a 4-star hotel as it promotes; it is a house guest and a poorly run one.
The rooms are dirty and not well kept; the carpets looked like they have not been clean in months.
The water pressure in the shower was little next to none. The bed in the room was broken down the mattress made it impossible to sleep.
There are no facilities, like places to eat or drink, free or paid. The Hotel is hard to find, it is deep inside the Medina, and you have to walk in some dark alleys with no proper signs to find the hotel.
Overall, AVOID this property, there are more convenient and better places you can stay in the Medina or outside of it. If you are looking for a nice place to rest and relax while exploring the city, this is not the place to stay.
If you already booked please cancel and book another place. Otherwise, they will try to charge the whole amount or another amount that come up at their discretion.
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect, nice location and the staff was very nice. Nothing
- Haroon-el-rashid (10/5): Exceptional -
- ANDREA (10/5): - Il silenzio
- Deborah (10/5): Winter Sunshine - We stayed during Feb half-term, in the quest of some winter sunshine. We had a wonderful time, Right in the heart of the old town, but the hotel was so calm and peaceful.
They looked after us extremely well, and collected us from the airport - just as well as we would never have found the place by ourselves...
Note for future guests - they meet you outside the terminal building
- Anmona (9/5): Beautiful hotel, just a bit hard to find the first time - The hotel is amazing!!! It feels like you enter a palace inside it, and once you get a hang of getting to it (a bit more on that later) its like an adventure each time you reach it. Karim at the reception was so great with recommendations, and just anything we might have needed. The breakfast was great and so fresh, and they even helped my sister and I (vegan) find things to eat.
The rooms were gorgeous, spacious, and the wifi was quite stable if a bit slow (only sometimes). The rooftop area was beautiful and a great spot to just hang out. When leaving the hotel you are smack in the middle of the market in old town, just a few minutes from the Koutoubia. Instructions for finding the hotel could have been clearer. Or at the very least a clear notice that the staff should be called before trying to reach it. Not only is it not really reachable by car or public transport but the streets to get to it are old town streets so there isn't really a map that will get you there. Nor are there visible street signs or numbers. We were driving and had communicated this to the hotel but even directions to parking were not clear (and parking was about a 10 min walk from the hotel -assuming you actually know the way). Once we were able to get a hold of the hotel staff they helped and we were able to find the parking and get to the hotel but this would have been better if we had instructions from the start.
- Jean-charles (9/5): Superb -
- Aia (10/5): highly recommended - A M A Z I N G, the room, the windows with the warming sun coming in the room to light it up, its big, nice terrace and great location the breakfast could be better
- Rich (10/5): Exceptional - Great location in the heart of the medina with a welcoming staff who prioritize your wellbeing over their direct profits.
- Lance (8/5): - Very challenging to find, eveb with the help of two locals. But once there, it was a nice location
- F. (9/5): wonderful time in marrakech - host and his staff, food and cats -
- driss (10/5): - Location close to popular places and very quiet.you need to walk to the riad because the taxi can’t drive in narrow street other than that good place for a family
- Ada (10/5): It was kind of hard to get it to the place - It was a short time but very pleasure
- Shauna (10/5): Beautiful Riad - It was amazing everyone was very friendly and Yassine was an exceptional host! The Riyadh was beautiful and quiet very close to the square but far enough away to be calm. We felt like we were staying in a palace!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful gem in perfect, quiet location in the medina!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our stay at Riad Dar Zaya. The place was beautiful, our room was lovely and the host was very helpful and hospitable. Would also definitely recommend having dinner in the Riad, one of the best meals we had in Marrakech!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Beautiful Building. Central location. Lovely room. Very quiet
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good: Beautiful building, large comfortable room, in centre of Medina, Only 3 rooms so very quiet.
Bad: Toilet had faeces marks, room wasn't made or cleaned during the day. Breakfast very basic. Premises were hard to find and area did not feel safe at night
- Christine (8/5): A great find - I picked Riad because of location, which was perfect for where I needed to be.
Only a non English speaking member of staff when I arrived but she called the Manager so I could speak to him on the phone. Very different place to stay. Restored to an excellent level.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were good sized, the decor was authentic and in good condition, and the manager was incredibly helpful. This Riad exceeded our expectations.
- Chaelle (10/5): - Lovely riad, with very nice house manager
- Verified traveler (8/5): Slipped through the cracks - We slipped through the cracks. I spent 3 days trying to get in contact with the Riad yo arrange an airport pickup. The phone number listed on hotels.com and Riad Dar Zayas website did not work, no matter what time of day I called. Later, the hotel owner showed me that he usually messages his guests through hotels.com, but a message didnt get to us for some reason.
We were unable to arrange an airport pickup. At 11PM, we took a taxi. The taxi dropped us off at the Medina, in an alley, and told us 2 random men would walk us to our hotel. It was our first time in Morocco. It was sketchy. When we finally got to our Riad, the men walking us charged us a "fee" of $60 for walking us a few blocks. This was in addition to the $30 we spent on our taxi.
On the way out, we paid $20 for the taxi and nothing for the riad keeper to escort us out.
We were ripped off.
Otherwise, the riad was beautiful, great location, included a nice breakfast. Wifi was consistent. Bed throw had a stain, but the room was otherwise clean. Rooftop did not have a view. On Google, this place is called "Riad Dar Zahia". No in-room safe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful - This riad is beautiful! The staff was incredible, the continental breakfast was delicious, and they even had someone come to the riad so that I could have henna put on before a wedding! Great service and beautiful place. If you're staying on the bottom floor, the only issue is that it is a little dim in the room but maybe that's how the ambience is supposed to be. I have no bad things to say except for the location. This riad is down little corridors - not alleys but corridors where the ceilings get lower. People told us that Morocco was safe but one evening we came back around midnight to our riad and two men 'offered' to give us directions even though we knew where we were going. The riad is located in a dead end and we were aggressively intimidated to give these men some money for 'helping' us. It was a little bit of a scary experience. Every night we were out, we never saw a police officer patrolling the souks (where this riad is located). I truly loved this place but because of this incident, I became afraid to leave the riad in the evening.
- EB (6/5): - For the money you pay the location is a bit uneasy, you have to walk in an alley looking passway to get to it, once you get there it an unforgettable little place with three suites, very nice stuff and very clean
