Convenient and varied Breakfast.
Walkable and close to Ski Bus Station.
Food options from Street Food to traditional Japanese Restaurants.
Recommended!
- Mark (10/5): - Best staff! Helpful and kind. The Onsen was awesome!
- katsuo (10/5): - 女将さんをはじめスタッフの方々の対応、接客がとても素晴らしかったです。
また行きたいと思います。
- Maya (10/5): - ありがとうございます
- Renee (10/5): - The food was authentic and delicious! The location was really close to all free shuttle stops and the hotel took you to Happo One. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, really helpful. You felt like you were in Japan compared to some of the other western hotels we stayed in!
- Kaylie (10/5): Room 403 - Amazing location, shuttle to Goryu is just 3mins on foot. They offer shuttle to Happo gondola but honestly it is walkable from the hotel, Nakiyama is way more walkable too! Practically next to the bus terminal and extremely close to the only Lawsons in town.
Great great great value for what you pay for the rooms - futon is comfy, room is extremely roomy, the reception speaks a reasonable amount of English and the team is so passionate and helpful. Extremely clean onsen which is helpful after a day of work out. They offer awesome breakfast that is different everyday too.
Everything you need and more value.
- Lurdes (10/5): - This hotel is Japanese style hotel with straw mats . I love this style of bedding configuration because once you roll your bed up , there is so much more space in the room . There is also hot spring available in the hotel which is hard to hard in the area After a long day of ski nothing beats a long soak in the hot spring . Breakfast is amazing , everyday you get served something different . Hotel close to everything , restaurants all around . Shuttle takes you to the gondola to and from or you can walk . Happo bus stop is literally 3 mins walk to take shuttle to the other mountains. Highly recommend this hotel. I will certainly be back next year.
- CRYSTAL (10/5): - Lovely staff
- indre (10/5): - Very nice traditional hotel. Super friendly and helpfull staff.

- PO CHUN (10/5): - 櫃檯服務非常親切周到,用簡單的英語單字還可以溝通。
- jonathan m (10/5): - All Great!
- Graham (10/5): - The hotel is only about few minutes walk from the Bus Terminal. They provided free transfer to/from Happo-One. Breakfast and dinner were pretty good. We enjoyed the open onsen very much. The staff was friendly and really helpful. We needed to buy a new goggles and they found 2 shops for us. The largest one was 30 minutes walk from the hotel and they offered to drive us there. Definitely would come back next time!
- Peter (10/5): - So friendly and welcoming
- Wing Hei (10/5): - nice and friendly staff
- Pak yin (10/5): - WI-FI 接收非常差經常斷線,希望改善一下,其他方面接近完美,會再入住。
- TOM (10/5): Great price and the happiest staff in Hakuba! - The best place I stayed in Hakuba. The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make sure you feel at home.
- Ching Ching (10/5): Great value & service!! - Bergtour Marukita is a basic simple no-frills hotel but the location and service made up for it. The front desk lady Kaori-san is so friendly and caring, mothering you. They ask you what time you want breakfast and dinner (if you choose to dine in, it is yakitori) and have everything ready when you come down. They are one of the hotels that have onsens (indoor and outdoor) which is absolutely wonderful after a day of skiing. You can store all your ski equipment downstairs and they have slippers for every section so as to keep the floors clean. Great value for money, we would come back again but would ask for a western instead of Japanese room as sleeping on tatamis was not ideal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous ryokan: wonderful dinner in the hotel, lovely Onsen and most hospitable staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a great hotel to stay in. Thanks for the booking it was great really great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had an awesome time! The staff was so friendly!
- Ryan (10/5): - First of all, Kaori, the owner happens to be one of the most Nicest and Sincerest person I have ever met that is running a hotel. The service happens to be one of the best I have ever had, especially since they are so personable with you. We took the morning breakfast option and every morning the food was outstanding. I have never been to a place where I felt at home. One of us was sick and needed a ride to the local market and again, they assisted. I have traveled many places in the world but I have to say this place is my top 2 place to stay. Japanese style rooms that has Futon beds. What was amazing was that they have their own onsen in the hotel. Ample of towels and robest always ready in the lobby, A locker room to put your snowboard/ski stuff with heaters. You can also arrange in house Massage but their are many places near by as well. About 15 minute walk to the Happa-one Gondola but a shuttle near by can take you their in 10. The Happo Bus terminal that can take to you to Nagano Station (Main Bus/Train Hub) is within 10 minute walk, as well. I would grade this place a 15 out of 1 to 10. I would highly recommend, especially for the price you get.. Kaori, Murayama, and the whole staff of Marukita, Thank you much for the amazing experience!
- Richard (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and nice. They gave us great restaurant recommendations when we asked and helped with reserving a table. The breakfasts were awesome with many small courses that varied from day to day. Walk to the gondolla will keep you fit as it is a good 10 mins. There is a shuttle bus but we didn't use it as we are impatient by nature.
- Miguel (10/5): Your home at Hakuba - The good:
- The staff really makes you feel at home. Excellent service and attention. They try to do everything they can to make your stay comfortable.
- The onsen is amazing! The hotel has a public bath, an inside onsen, an outside onsen and a sauna, all of which were amazing.
- The breakfast's price is reasonable and the breakfast itself is very good and satisfying.
Things to improve:
- The building itself is kinda old and could use some maintenance
- The staff didn't know much about ski shuttles, but they did their best to find information for us
- Tiffany (10/5): Staff made the experience memorable - The front lady staff was so welcoming as if the hotel were her home. She made us feel so welcomed and tried to offer help whenever we saw her despite some communication barriers. Treated us as if we were her kids and made every minute worth it.
- thomas (8/5): Nice - but over-priced. - There is better value places in hakuba.
Great onsen.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly and very flexible staff and comfortable stay, thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay thanks to the friendly and helpful staff at Bergtour! The onsen facilities was great too!
- wei heng kelvin (10/5): - Loved our stay. The owner and staff were so warm, friendly and fantastic and we felt at home. Great location. We will be back.
- Hao (10/5): Great location and friendly staff - The location is great. It is a 5 minute walk from the Happo Bus Terminal, so you can take the many shuttle buses at the terminal to get to different Hakuba resorts. Happo One is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride away. The Tatami room is a bit small but pretty clean and well-maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They speak limited English, but can make themselves understood with the help of visual aids (time tables, maps, translated brochures etc). The hotel has its own little Onsen, which even has an outdoor pool. It is pretty small, but feels very cosy and was almost always empty when we were there. I like the convenience of it. Breakfast is tasty, but portions are a bit small. Because they have a small restaurant, you need to reserve your breakfast time slot in advance. Not sure if it is customary, but they charge 500 Yen for housekeeping everyday. You can opt out though.
- Terry (10/5): Fantastic stay - Fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
- Maik (10/5): Lovely and Welcoming Spot - Fantastic experience - loved my stay. The host is really welcoming and friendly. They also offered me a ride a few times when I had to get to a hiking spot and no public transport was available. Breakfast was great and everyday different w/ attention to detail. Very good location with the tourist center, bus stop , and convenience store nearby. Had no problem getting around.
- Alex (10/5): Great Japanese style hotel with friendly staff - We chose to stay here whilst visiting Hakuba with my wife and son. The location is within walking distance to the Happo One bus terminal and information centre (~400m) and was not too had even with two large suitcases and our stroller.
The hotel, overall is slightly dated, but very clean and is a traditional japanese style one with Tatami mats and Futon beds, and also includes their own Onsen on the top floor, which includes both an open air and a enclosed Onsen. Guests are free to use the Onsen, but there is a 150yen per night onsen tax, which is mandated for all Japanese hotels with their own Onsen, this was more than reasonable for the services/Onsen provided. The Onsen is an awesome experience, especially the open air one when it is snowing outside, highly recommended.
The staff here were absolutely awesome, so polite, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodated our 2 year old very well. We had breakfast included with our booking and we had a Japanese or Western option each morning for breakfast, with the menu changing slightly each day.
On our departure morning, the hotel was generous enough to offer us a free lift to the bus terminal with all our luggage even though it was not a far walk and we were very grateful. They definitely made us feel welcome and would definitely stay again.
- Paul (10/5): Great hotel with great staff - Great hotel with great staff. We went on the weekdays in low season and often had the onsen to ourselves, which was so nice. Go to the front desk with a bunch of ads from the information center and they will help you call around and find the best prices. They definitely helped us save a bundle on ski lessons. Overall it was one of my best stays in Japan. Hakuba is a really charming village, and this was a lovely hotel!
- Juliana (10/5): Great host - Dated ryokan with an amazing host who went out of her way to send us back & forth from dinner
- Keir (10/5): Good hotel with amazing staff. - I traveled with a group of four that stayed here in March 2017. This was my 6th trip to Hakuba and the 5th hotel I stayed in and I can honestly say I will always stay at the Bergtour whenever I'm in Hakuba again.
Whilst not the newest hotel it offers everything you want in terms of onsen, boot room facilities, dry room and access to bus centre and local bars and restaurants. It had good access to busses to the ski fields of Happo One, Goryu and Hakuba 47 and a 200m walk took you to the major bus centre with access with all the other resorts.
My main praise is for the staff themselves, although their English wasn't amazing they made every possible assitance they could. A member of our group broke a couple of ribs on his second day skiing (during a 9 day stay). The staff were nothing but amazing in terms of contacting the hospital for us, helping us get to and from the hospital (which was 40km away) and then when he was discharged from hospital they also drove him to the local clinic for a check up and sat there waiting for him whilst he saw the doctor. On our departure without request they also presented him with a refund for the two nights that he was in hospital.
Every time a guest left you could see one or two staff go out the front and wave them goodbye and chase them 10m down the street whilst saying goodbye.
There may be hotels with a higher Star Rating in Hakuba but the Bergtour Marukita is a great option.
- Charles (10/5): Restful retreat close to slopes - Stayed in this place for three nights and should have stayed longer. A great place to explore the Hakuba Valley ski area. Had a wonderful, restful stay at this place.
- Li (10/5): Friendly family run hotel with great onsen - The staff were so sweet and. friendly and went out of their way to go that extra mile. One day it was snowing and Eddie would not allow me to go by bus/ taxi on my own to snow harp cross country ski area.she ended up driving me all the way (10mins. Plus drive one way ) then told the managers at the facility to phone her so she could pick me up after! The breakfasts were amazing and great to ski on . The rooftop onsen was the perfect place to relax those aching muscles after skiing. Our Japanese style room was a great space to unwind and retire after a long day skiing. The hotel is so close to bus station, free bus and great restaurants earby. At the end the staff gave a little parting gift which was a nice touch.
- Gavin (10/5): Nice hotel close to happo-one - The staff was excellent. Extremely friendly and accommodating, I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Hakuba
- Quentin (10/5): Would recommend - Very kind helpful staff, nice room and the onsen on-site, which is a big plus after a full-day on the slopes.
- Hudson (8/5): Incredibly friendly staff that were always happy - Incredibly happy staff that are always happy to see you. The room was well presented and clean. Very quiet so not ideal if you'd like to party however if you do all the hot spots are only a 3-5 minute walk away. The bus terminal is also about a 3 minute walk.
- Bear (8/5): Hotel with onsen - Down to earth hotel within ski area, cosy breakfast!
- David (10/5): Japanese experience in Hakuba - Comfortable rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and wonderful Onsen bath. We stayed in the Japanese rooms and plenty of room for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The hot spring on the 5th floor is very nice after a day of skiing with one indoor and one outdoor tub. The breakfast was quite nice. All in all very good value.
- Justin (10/5): Awesome accommodations in hakuba - We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay here again when we travel back to hakuba. Absolutely wonderful staff, great food, clean and spacious rooms, nice onsen and ideal location. I highly recommend staying here for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Japanese hospitality! - We were very happy with the Bergtour Marukita. Nice onsen. The people were very friendly and helpful even if they didn't speak much English. They have a place to store your ski gear which is well organized. The village is small but really picturesque and lots of nice little restaurants. If you take the Japanese style room, they give you single mattresses to put on the floor. Ok but a bit hard.
- Kelly (10/5): Amazing staff and service - Service and staff were very friendly. We absolutely enjoyed our ski trip and stay.
