Guest Reviews
- Ryan (9/5): Glad Inn Ebisuya is a conveniently located inn with very friendly and helpful staff! - Great location and very delicious meals served in the restaurant. Although available, because there was only one washing machine and clothes dryer it was a bit hard to use, particularly the clothes dryer.
- HONCHING (10/5): Loving it - Thank you very much. It was an excellent place. Highly recommended the breakfast and dinner a fantastic. The staff is extremely kind and I love them and I would highly recommend my friends to visit there.
- Mercedes (9/5): Great location, comfortable clean rooms and friendly staff - Location was great and walking distance to the slopes, resturants. Staff friendly and rooms well sized Only has a shared onzen shower room to use at night until 8am (Seperate male and female but No private shower rooms) which my teenage son was not very comfortable with.
- Susanne (10/5): -
- Tim (9/5): - Great location. Walk to lifts. Japanese hotel style accomodation. Family run. Hot pot dinners available.
Friendly staff.
- Katie (10/5): - Everything about our stay here was fantastic from the staff to the breakfast, on site onsen and lift acccess. This is a wonderful place to stay.
- Jackson (10/5): Very warm comforting accom in the heart of hakuba - Loved the basement onsen! Also really close walk to lifts (not ski in ski out though). Very clean. Has internal lift which not all accom has. very friendly hosts. It is japanese style (tatami mats) but it says this so dont act suprised like some of the comments, embrace this!
- Sunjay (10/5): 10/10...family run, not fancy but very down home and clean, pleasant people staying and working ther - The facility was a family run inn, 3 Stories with Japanese style rooms. There was a private Sink and toilet in the room with a heated seat. In addition this is a common hallway bathroom with a fully functional Toto Bidet & seat. Shower facilities were part of the onsite OnSen so that was great at the end of the day to clean up and relax.
We had breakfast every morning, at 7am, made by an excellent kitchen staff (buffet style) with both Japanese and western items. Dinner is also available but we did not eat there. You do need to make reservations for breakfast and dinner as they owners make a fixed buffet menu.
Skis, boots, boards and clothes are kept in the basement in a heated room and can be locked via a key associated with your room.
Rooms were cleaned everyday.
The "Lady of the house" is a very pleasant women who understands a little English but we managed to communicate via google translate.
I would definitely stay at this location if I went back again. It is close to restaurants, stores, the Happo One hill and a seven to ten minute walk to the Central Bus depot to go to other hills.
Oh one last thing, when we were checking out and I was going to get an Uber to take all our suitcases and ski bags to bus depot (we had the ski bags shipped by Black Cat transport from the airport), the owner offered to have her son drop us off at the depot with their van... totally unexpected but very much appreciated. I was surprised by the Onsen cost but it is a water tax.. 150yen/day/person, which is like $1.50Cad, so I can't complaint too much. There is no real place to sit on a table and chair in the room but we were there for the Japanese experience... So we were ok with it.
If we wanted to sit, we went to the lobby that that has a nice sitting area. I would not change the rooms.
- serene (10/5): warm and cosy place! love it - very friendly staff and good breakfast every morning. love the jap and western mix. we had dinner for 2 nights too, really nice.
i like that there's onsen and is near food places and the ski lift and gondola is pretty close by as well.
i had the tatami room which we love as well nothing much. probably room freshener will be perfect for us after meals outside :)
- Mitchell (9/5): Fantastic - This is a fantastic traditional Japanese Inn. We had 4 people in a single room which was spotless and very comfortable. The Onsen downstairs was a highlight, as was the breakfast each day. The staff were amazing as well.
We will certainly be back
- Ameng (8/5): -
- 志威 (9/5): - location great.
hotel space is good.
people flow in hotel is suitable. Email to hotel before arrive but no reply.
- Henry (10/5): - Had everything: great location, onsen, dry room and just rooms!
- Clark (10/5): - Breakfast buffet was great, short walk to the Happo-One lift, drying room for gear, many fun pubs just a couple minutes walk.
- Chelsea (9/5): - Great location/walking distance to Happo One slopes, traditional hotel. Nearby pubs and restaurants
- Nicholas (10/5): Some of our favourite accommodation in Japan! - Great breakfast and set meal dinner. Large japanese-style rooms with drying room downstairs for your ski gear. Onsen very relaxing after a day on the slopes. Location is good, short walk to Happo-One Nakiyama ski lifts and shuttle bus stop.
- Zhengrong (10/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): A convenient, clean, traditional hotel near the mountains. - A classic, clean hotel very close to the slopes.
- Stephen (9/5): Great location to ski Happo One - Great location , comfortable beds , very clean, great maid and overall service. Would stay again next year if I can get resi’s Nothing really
- Oleh (9/5): - Place in a great location just next to the slops; Room was small, as expected, but overall nice and tidy with some welcome tea inside; They also had a public batch, which was much appreciated;
Staff was very helpful by keeping our luggage and helping us to get self-check when we needed to check in too late because we missed the train; Much appreciated!
- Juhan (8/5): -
- PEICHI (8/5): -
- Lee (3/5): Just for a night stay, don't come with expectation. - Breakfast was just simple, nothing fantastic. No drinking water provided. Just a hot water in a flask.
No dispenser to collect either.
I had to ask in the dinning hall.
- Susan (9/5): Will definitely stay again if I’m back in Hakuba. - Awesome family run lodge- very convenient with a short walk to Nakiyama or a small bit further to Adam Gondola. Close to shops and restaurants, ample parking, great drying room. Clean and decent sized onsen. The rooms were large and comfortable futons- bonus to have a basin and toilet in the room. Definitely try the dinners also- great hospitality and delicious. Nothing
- Tim (8/5): Great location and lovely staff - Location was fantastic I loved everything
Took a bit getting used to only having an onsen and no shower in the room
But once used to that i started to enjoy it more !
- Toby (8/5): -
- Holly (10/5): Loved our time at Hakuba Glad Inn. Fantastic location close to happo one slopes and bus terminal. Staff are very helpful - Comfortable facilities, fantastic location and very helpful/kind staff who went above and beyond to help us during our stay. Nothing!
- IseultD (10/5): 10/10 ,I love it- Staff, location, comfort, great meal, comfy room - -First of all, great staff, so welcoming and helpful.
-Great location- restaurants, rentals around the corner. Very Convenient
-5-10 mins walk to happo on gondola. and very near to bus stands to various ski slopes, including Hakuba 47 and goryu.
-Great deal and very tasty breakfast and dinner (Japanese style) prepared by in house cheff and assistant.- great work.
-Room is spacious enough, tatami style , very clean and comfy.
-Ski storage area, hot spring and bath.
During our checkout day, it was raining, and the owner himslef offered to send us to the Hakuba Bus station. The room and toliet smells funny at times. Hoever no big deal.
- Calvin Chun Kit (9/5): -
- Johan (10/5): Great location, perfect for any skiing holiday - Location and facilities excellent Nothing
- Arla (9/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): - Much better than the photos on the add! Really cozy, super clean, tidy and well maintained. No shuttle service, no breakfast
- Jessie (10/5): Great location for Hakuba Happo One, 7mins walk from Bus terminal and 7mins away from Gondola base - Onset is the best… very relaxing and refreshing after whole day skiing.
- Hiromi (10/5): - Espacios muy cómodos y limpios! Personal muy amable, fácil de accesar y buena ubicación.
- Fin (10/5): -
- Arpre (9/5): Superb - Buffet breakfast was good, and dinner was great - both not included in the price for the rooms but relatively good value (especially breakfast). The hot water in the bath downstairs is onsen water which is brilliant after the slopes. I feel breakfast should be included with the price - like most good ski accommodation in Japan. This would make it much better value for money.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dollaporn (10/5): Enjoyed everything and want to come back again. - The food is super good (Japanese traditional food), feels like Mommy cooking for her child. The host is very friendly and so kind! Staff is helpful. Comfortable bed and room. Highly recommend! No private bathroom but it’s okay. Not many rooms in the hotel.
- Nicky (8/5): Very good -
- Lanelle (8/5): Very good - Central to Happo One region. Food was decent and affordable at the inn. Tatami was also comfortable. Daily cleaning for our room was appreciated. No transport provided hence was slightly tough to drag our luggages to the inn. however owner, fetched us to Hakuba JR station as we couldnt get any taxis on the day we checked out. thank you!!
- Stana (9/5): Helpful people and top location - The family who run the property are lovely and do everything to help. They organised for our ski bags to be transferred to the airport so that we could continue our trip to other parts of Japan without carrying them.
Our room had lovely views of the town and mountains. Rooms are traditional Japanese with futon mattresses. There is just a toilet and sink in the room. For bathing you use the shared onsen. The hotel is an easy walk to the lifts of Happo One ski field. Everything is super clean and there is a washing machine and dryer that guests can use.
We tried out a few other ski fields , our favourite was Iwatake.
I do recommend you go to a nearby restaurant called Izakaya Cakuichi.
We only had breakfast at the hotel once, we preferred to go to Izakaya Paikaji for breakfast which is nearby.
- Brodie (5/5): Passable -
- Hong (8/5): Very good -
- James (6/5): Your gear will remain cold and wet. - Rooms were clean, traditional, and comfortable.
Location is great for HAPPO-ONE, but for anywhere else you'll need to get a shuttle.
Decent nearby food options was good. Felt a bit run down, quite expensive for what you get.
The bathroom felt a bit poorly equipped compared to typical shared bathrooms you see in these types of places.
The equipment storage room is NOT a dry room unfortunately. The staff routinely check to make sure that the heater in there is turned off. They even turned it off on me right after I had turned it on one morning. This means your gear will just get more damp and soggy after each day. You'd be better off taking all your wet gear up to your room, but that's not a valid solution in my opinion as you don't have enough hanging space and you might not want to run the heater in your room to dry stuff as the room will just get too hot.
- Carl (8/5): Glad I Stayed at Ebisuya Inn - A very nice hotel within 250 meters of the lifts. Very comfortabe beds- but Japanese style on tatami mat floor. At first not easy getting up & down as I have had 2 hip replacement surgeries. But I repeated it numerous times per day & improved my mobility from floor to standing by the end of my stay (an added bonus). The nice sized onsen was great for both an evening relaxation & stretch plus a morning warm up before hitting the slopes. Lots of dining options within a short walk. However I must impress on guests that if the restaurant is open book the dinner. Due to a staff holiday I only got the chance to dine on my last night but it was a memorable dinner ( by myself). Easy ski & bag transport from Narita & back allowing me luggage free exploring on my way to Hakuba & back to Narita ( to be safe give 2-3 days for delivery each way) Nothing. All was good & I plan to book with friends next winter. Hopefully the restaurant is open.
- Belinda (7/5): Good - Traditional Japanese room, which means sleeping on futon. If you gf ave a bad back or hip, I do not recommend. Shared bathroom (Onsen)
Close walk to chairlift Staff looked miserable all the time and not very welcoming
No amenities in bathroom
Paper thin walls
- Walter (9/5): Superb - Lovely Japanese guesthouse style hotel, with tatami mats and futon beds in the room and a communal onsen bath. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful even though they didn't speak much English. Nothing to complain about :)
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johan (9/5): Superb -
- James (6/5): Good location, average everything else, bad dry room - This hotel is in a great location, the staff are friendly, and the beds are comfy.
The rooms are clean, the onsen is okay. Felt decently clean and spacious.
The ski storage / dry room was awful. The staff were always turning the heater off in the room. Any damp gear left in there was guaranteed to be damp and smelly the next day.
- James (8/5): Very pleasant - Very good breakfast and exceptionally good dinners.
Great location.
Lovely staff. Happy as it was.
- Scott (10/5): One of if not the best ski holidays we have both had. - Great location, walking distance to Happo One. The staff were amazing and the food was just outstanding and very well priced. Traditional Japanese hotel. We will be back Nothing, it was all just fantastic
- Tara (10/5): We had a really comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and coming back after a day of skiing/snowboar - The location was awesome. It’s only a few minutes walk from the bus station, ski lifts, shops and restaurants in the area. The room was spacious and warm, the staff are so lovely and friendly and the breakfast is so delicious! The room was a bit bright at night because there’s no curtains so make sure you bring an eye mask if you’re sensitive to light.
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Magdolna (10/5): Fantastic experience 10/10 - We had a fantastic time there! The rooms and all amenities were spotless. We also enjoyed the traditional style.
The hotel owners were absolutely amazing, really friendly and always helpful.
Food (both breakfast and dinner) was great, you get breakfast buffet every morning and there’s a lot to choose from.
It’s in the heart of Hakuba, everything is a short walking distance.
We are definitely coming back and recommend to everyone.
- Christian (9/5): Superb -
- Ron (8/5): Very good -
- Camille (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ross (7/5): Good - Hard bed
- Liao (10/5): Will recommend others - Great view, walkable location (though it might feel far if you are wearing ski boots or walking on a snowy day), delicious food (both breakfast and dinner), and a lovely Japanese room. The onsen (hot spring bath) is not very hot; it could be hotter. Basic English for booking, check-in, and check-out conversations is acceptable, but anything beyond that may not be sufficient.
- Katrina (9/5): Superb -
- Maggie (10/5): Exceptional - Location was unbeatable. Short walk to plenty of dinner options. Walking distance to Happo gondola. Can also walk to Lawsons. 15-20 minute walk to Echoland. Green tea provided in room was a nice luxury! Friendly service. Great value for money in popular area. Huge drying room for ski gear
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Calvin (10/5): Exceptional - Such a great location. 5 min walk to rental shop, and the closest lift. 10 minutes to the gondola. Great onsen facilities. Really friendly staff. A bit old but nothing wrong with it at all, I liked the traditional dated feel. The room had tatami mats and traditional futon mattresses. Really comfy!
- Gerard (10/5): Another lovely stay at Glad Inn - It’s not overcrowded and has a Japanese charm, which was pleasing considering how busy Hakuba was this year with foreigners.
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - We loved it here, Hakuba can be very westernised in the peak period so it was lovely to relax somewhere more traditional at the end of each day. Bathing is in the onsen which is the perfect way to recover after a day on the ski slopes and it was not too busy. Rooms are big and ski gear dry room is very handy. Recommend the Japanese buffet breakfast and the kaiseki dinner (book at least a day prior at the lobby). Thanks for having us and we hope to be back!
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Kynan (8/5): Very good -
- Nigel (10/5): Awesome traditional ski lodge with shared bathroom with traditional onset setup. - If room with futons on floor nice light and warm. Insence bathing was cool but be aware there is no seperate shower. Must leave common areas by 9:00pm but it was a good time to sleep if you want to get up early for snow.
- Casey (10/5): Great place to stay! - Great location and onsen on site was awesome. Clean traditional room was great and having a toilet in the room was another bonus.
- Heyu (8/5): very nice host, will come back -
- Natasha (10/5): Excellent - I loved everything about this stay! The people and staff were amazing, the onsen was awesome and the rooms quite big for what you usually get in Japan, the staff even gave us a lift to the bus stop on our departure day which was lovely Nothing couldn’t fault it!
- Zara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kwong (9/5): Very nice, great value for money - Good location, comfortable room, delicious meals - nice breakfast and dinner No bath in the room and onsen is small
- Tan (10/5): Great for value, location, and accommodation. Host was amazing. - We loved every bit of our stay. Traditional Japanese tatami rooms with an amazing breakfast and dinner. Minutes walk to the slopes, restaurants, and bars. The family that ran the place was more than helpful in every way from sending our gear with Yamato, making restaurant reservations, and so friendly. Had private onsen for guests only. Had it to myself most of the time. Breakfast and dinner was the best meal we had all 5 days we were there. Everywhere in town, you needed reservations. If you're looking for a traditional stay close to the slopes, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a party or modern beds, this isn't the place for you, but highly recommend immersing yourself in the traditions. Would definitely come back!! There wasn'nt much not to like to be honest. Had the best stay with my partner.
- Ryan (10/5): perfect for the skiing season - staff were amazing, they were the best. extremely friendly perfect nothing to complain about
- Anna (7/5): Good location and onsen, but needs curtains and better mattresses. - The hotel is really well located, within walking distance of several ski lifts and many restaurants and shops. I also loved the onsen, well-maintained and juts the thing after skiing. The room had no curtains, just an opaque window shade. At night time very bright light came through this from surrounding buildings. The futon mattresses were also very thin - so it was hard to get a good sleep unfortunately.
- Stephen (9/5): Great little hotel but be prepared for a Japanese experience - Very friendly family run establishment. Excellent location. Very nice breakfast. I enjoyed the Japanese traditional inn. But be prepared it is not like western accommodation Perhaps the language barrier, some guests were able to book dinner but I wasn't allowed. It was actually common in Japan to be refused service because I was a tourist.
- Hamish (10/5): The perfect place for anyone looking for a cosy, convenient and memorable stay in Hakuba. - The traditional Japanese style of the property gave it an authentic feel in an otherwise westernised location. It was very close to the Happo One ski resort (walking distance) and many bars and restaurants. The hosts were very accomodating and ensured our stay was easy and enjoyable. The facilities were in excellent condition, from the rooms themselves to the spa and drying room. All were in perfect condition and positively contributed to the overall experience. Nothing!
- Imogen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhys (10/5): Exceptional -
- Callum (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible traditional Japanese accommodation. Proximity to mountain was extremely close, 400m walk to main gondola, then less than 200m from the end of the apres hakuba at the bottom of the southern runs. Close to all good restaurants and bars.
Staff were extremely helpful. The food at the hotel was amazing, only started eating there on our last night and wish we’d done it earlier.
Room had private toilet, and bathing was done in a traditional Japanese onsen.
- Luke (10/5): Fantastic real japan - Everything was great real japan! Loved the location close to everything in happo one. Easy to get around food at inn was such a treat great experience all around.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ingmar (10/5): Perfect hotel for a ski trip - onzen, proximity to gondola and fairly priced. - Loved the traditional room, the onzen downstairs and the proximity to the ski lifts and town centre. I didn’t mind too much, but I can see some people have an issue with not having a shower in your room.
- Charlene (9/5): Would good again for this experience. - Close to the slopes. Friendly host. Clean. Great food. Allow me to wax my own board in their drying room.
- Isaac (10/5): Exceptional -
- J (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lc (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent. The place was clean and comfortable. It was less than 10 min walk to ski lifts and close to some great food spots. Staff very friendly. Would definirley stay here again. I had delays with confirmation of booking but may have been down to language barrier.
- Bronte (10/5): Exceptional - The owners and staff were so lovely and accomodating, they made you feel right at home. The location was amazing about a 10 minute walk to happo one gondola. The dinner was the best meal we had in hakuba, so definitely try it one night! nothing everything was perfect!
- Alex (9/5): Superb -
- Hataipatra (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast and very good dinner . Host very nice. Bath room very clean and very good.
- Googsy (8/5): Very good -
- Marcus (10/5): First class experience. Loved everything. - Spotlessly clean. Really friendly and welcoming people. Traditional stay and experience. Highly recommended. Would definitely stay again. Thank you very much.
- Tsz (8/5): Very good -
- Ling (9/5): Great value accommodation, close to snow resort - Location is great, 5 mins walk to the Happo One gondola and easy to catch shuttle bus to Goyru or other resorts as well.
- Doug (10/5): Nice place - Great staff great location Friendly staff, great location and clean
- James (8/5): Family run traditional hotel in middle of Happo. - Traditional Japanese, about 10 minutes walk from nearest lift. Lots of shops/bars nearby. Has its own hot bath. Staff were very accommodating.
- Max (9/5): Superb -
