Guest Reviews
- Karrin (9/5): Gorgeous, beautifully appointed lodge with the very best river boat captain!!! - The chef is amazing! The quality of food is good. The chef was very happy to make customizations for me that I really appreciated. This property does the Western colonial style menu often featured at safari lodges - they do it well, but I am not a fan so much of this approach to menu design. I would have loved more detail on the source of their food. I would have loved more detail about their supply chains in general as it relates to sustainability and local economy; I know this property is working toward sustainability, which is great!
- Ian (10/5): Fantastic once (actually hopefully not) in a lifetime experience!! - If you only spoil yourself once this is the place to do it, location on the banks of the Zambezi, great friendly staff, the evening river cruise was really special watching the romantic sunset on the river to the sound of snorting hippos is an experience you won't forget. The staff are great and it's obvious making your stay enjoyable is there main goal. Did I mention the chalet, it really has to be experienced to be believed - fantastic!! Not really a criticism but the drive from the main road is long and could be better sign posted but that added a little to the adventure
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Zambezi dusk was much better than the photos. It has an incredible location and wonderful friendly staff.
- Charles (10/5): A magical stay with so many memorable moments. - Zambezi Dusk is situated in a magical location on the river. Meals were delicious and breakfast was served on the decking watching hippos sunbathing on a small island in front of us with a wide variety of birds visiting the trees around us too. The daily sunrise and sunset cruises for guests, with interesting commentary, were wonderful. All the staff were attentive and kind. Nothing was too much trouble! I would also highly recommend a spa massage, it was so relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
- Sinqobile (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): We loved our stay but felt the bathroom facilities was not ideal - Beauty of being g right on the river. Beautiful gardens and reception/ common areas Bathrooms need to have a door closing off toilet. No privacy.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shasta (10/5): Beautiful, private atmosphere, to relax and enjoy nature. - Zambezi Dusk is located on a beautiful property with views of frequent visits from elephant, buffalo, and plains game right across the river. There is a spacious deck with various comfortable seating options for viewing wildlife, dining, or enjoying a drink. The food quality and presentation is that of what you would find at an upscale restaurant. We had some of our most favorite meals at Zambezi dusk and it was only 4 nights out of a 22 day stay! I can not say enough about the kitchen and wait staff! The game boat ride was a great bonus! All of the staff went above and beyond in many aspects, we can’t thank them enough. As far as location we loved that it was secluded and private exactly what we were looking for. The gardens and view from restaurant are better than pictures. Taxi fares were quite high. It is pretty far from activities so you need to plan ahead for time and cab fares. With that said it was private so very worth it for us! They were also very good about helping us plan all activities and arrange cabs which made it easy.
- Grant (8/5): Very good -
- Mervin (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (7/5): Perhaps a bit overpriced, but good accommodation. Excellent food. - The chef makes wonderful dishes. Try her lemon meringue dessert and the Zambezi bream.
We enjoyed the morning river cruise.
The river chalets are very comfortable. Note: the river view chalets do not have a river view but a channel view. The main area of the lodge could use a bit more love in terms of decoration.
The camp is supposed to be an eco lodge, but each night there are three bright lights shining over the river, attracting (= disturbing) millions of insects and moths. The beams are supposed to divert the insects from the food, but when the floodlights were turned off on our request, there were hardly any bugs. The lights disturb the darkness and the nature experience.
- Andon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heila (9/5): Lovely place, we loved the accommodation, the staff were friendly and helpful, chef was superb! - Excellent!! Camp Nkwazi has an excellent chef, and the breakfast view is lovely .... It would be lovely to have a time table of when the boats go out beforehand so that one can book this in advance
- Teresa (10/5): You really felt like you were in Africa, sitting on the side of the Zambezi - The location is amazing, right on the banks of the Zambezi. The staff were amazing when we asked for a table close to the river on the terrace, they said we will find you a better one and put us on the top deck of the hotel's boat for our own private meal.
- Gertruida (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect.
- Samad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dr. (10/5): Exceptional - A real adventure! The Lodge is situated far away from the city, right at the shore of the Sambesi River. Extremely quiet and peaceful at night with a million stars above. But be careful: The hippos come out of the river at night and you better stay inside of your chalet. We were instructed that this would happen and at night they accompanied us from dinner to our chalets. Super friendly staff organized a tour to the Victoria falls and through the city of Livingstone.
- Silke (10/5): Perfect location for discovering the region around Victotis falls - fantastic location, very attentive and welcoming staff, very nice activities, very good meals nothing
- Brian (10/5): Very impressive - Proper face to face contact with the management
- Isabel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): - The General Manager/Director, Salome and the Reception Manager, Oscar were 5-Star hosts. Everything was spot-on & in order as arranged. My driver James was a "10-STAR" service agent... always available and on-call whenever I needed him. The camp settings and surroundings within national park are truly exceptional. Morning sunrises and evening sunsets on the Zambezi River are simply FanTabUlous!!! A absolutely beautiful experience.
- Raven (10/5): Wonderful Lodge at the Zambezi - Loved, loved, loved my stay at Camp Nkwazi! The Chalets are top notch, beautifully furnished, cozy and comfortable, have well working bath facilities and are kept very clean. The porch of the chalet overlooking the Zambezi is the perfect reading spot and fulfilled my safari dreams. The whole property is lush and green and makes a relaxing oasis in the dry season. Also each member of the staff was extremely kind and nice to talk to. Excellent service. Thank you for taking such good care of me! Wish I could have stayed longer. 100% recommendation.
- Johan (9/5): Superb -
- Ilario (10/5): A unique, immersive experience - Splendid in every single way - from the unique, immersive concept, to the extraordinary setting overlooking the Zambezi, and the first-rate hospitality of the host, Salomé. Would recommend without a second’s hesitation. nothing.
- Charlotte (10/5): Going the extra distance for this camp is worth it. The staff were amazing and being a solo traveller I was so made to f - So peaceful being on the river. The chalets are extremely comfortable and spacious.
- Joseph (10/5): fantastic experience at Camp Nkwazi, really nice chalets, great breakfast. I recommend this place - location away from noise but plenty of nature, cleanliness is top notch, I like the bathrooms 😃 n/a
- Verified traveler (2/5): AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!! - It's listed as a 4.5 stars but should be a one star & def not a luxury camp. It is run down with almost every amenity broken and in disrepair. It's a ghost town, for 2 of the 3 nights, we were the only lodge guest. This facility may work for outdoor campers who are self driven and self catered. Obvious sighs resort on it's last leg.
Positives: wait staff, driver and cook.Breakfast was decent but everything is counted out.Negatives: No cellular reception while there, no electric so no WiFi, no fan, no air conditioning and no hot water for most hours of the day. A small residential type generator runs for 2 hours in the morning for the office & reception area.
-Not listed for emergency services with the faculties in town like the other bush camps and resorts
-It's way out of the town of Livingstone. Approx 1hr. 30 minutes of that is an unpaved dirt road. It will cost you $50 to get to Livingstone airport and approximately$120 from Vic. Falls airport.
-Pool was in disrepair and lacked chlorine so we opted out. Chalets lacked toiletries except for hand soap. Prices are gorged coz they know you're stuck. They are dishonest with many hidden prices. She attempted to double my invoice.Dinner is $40 each, only one dish is served. They can't tell you what it is even an hour before. You're still expected to pay even if you dot like it. Dinner process was a two hr ordeal, long wait times between courses, food temps were unsafe. We opted to eat the rest of our meals out. Not worth the $$
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved this place...we will be back. I truly felt one with nature here
- Verified traveler (10/5): Africa at its best - Amazing, on the river, birdsong, great food. We were greeted warmly, the facilities are excellent, and the hosts very accommodating and informative.
Peaceful haven, and close to all amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed for a night. Beautiful setting, very lovely staff, would highly recommend
