Guest Reviews
- Oswaldo (8/5): - La cama edtava Dura, y El Jacuzzi no tenia servicio
- Johana (10/5): Wow - Amazing! Breath-taking views! The staff very nice, warm. The food also amazing. I highly recommend it.
- homayun (10/5): - amazing!
- Emilia (10/5): - We loved our stay at this hotel. People were very friendly and the views were breathtaking. Will definitely be back.
- Diego (10/5): - In general the attention was amazing,
- Verified traveler (8/5): A hidden gem with breathtaking views - This hotel is a little difficult to find from the main road but once you arrive it feels like you found a hidden gem. The property doesn’t just have the hotel but also a coffee bar and a restaurant that is open to the public. None of this was an issue when we stayed. The hotel guests had their own parking and the staff did a good job of keeping only the hotel guests on the property. The grounds are beautiful. The views of the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. The hotel only has 9 rooms which means a large staff is not needed. Because of this, the staff made you feel like family. They always went the extra mile for us. Thank you Ronald and Johnny.
The only suggestion I would have is to address some of the rooms that have a damp smell. A mild to medium smell of dampness was found in the two rooms we rented. If you start looking at details you will find some need for improvement but nonetheless we would have no issues returning.
- Sandra (10/5): - Buenos
- Francis (10/5): - Le service etait inroyable et les dejeuners aussi. La vue est incomparable.
- MIGUEL (10/5): - Beautiful place. Amazing service. A few more amenities in the room such as electrical outlets by the bed, hook/hangers in the bathroom, etc would be great.
- Maria Camila (10/5): Reserva monarca stay - Staff was helpful and amazing throughout our stay. The views are beautiful and the entire hotel was clean and tidy. The area was private and breakfast was delicious. There’s a cafe bar that is beautiful as well with friendly staff too. Will come back again in the future
- Doina (10/5): - Excellent hospitality and gorgeous views ! So peaceful ! Johnny was extremely helpful and very personable . He gave me ideas about the areas, booked me a chocolate massage, recommended Filandia for a day trip and recommended El Robles restaurant ( 5 min walk from the hotel - food was fresh and outstanding and prices very reasonable ). He was always smiling and ready to help. Same with the other young guy at reception ( I forgot his name). The view of the valley and the mountains from this hotel is out of this world, and having breakfast on the terrace was just beautiful, even it fit was quite chilly all my 3 days there. The bar and the area around the pond gets pretty lively on evenings, as lots of people come over to enjoy the peaceful environment . My room was beautiful ( thank you Johnny) and being woke in the morning by the trill of birds and a neighbouring rooster was the best! It is very close to Salento by Uber ( $10). The grounds are clean and well kept. The sauna gets hot fast ( liked it) , but the wet sauna lacks temperature. That needs to be fixed. Also, it was very cold during my massage. Heaters need to be provided for the massage room, for colder days. Good quality cosmetics and free potable water in the kitchen were a plus. Breakfast was very good and made fresh in order. I has a very nice and restful 3 days stay here. Highly recommend this place ! ( you should learn a bit of Spanish if you come here). If the weather permits, you can go on hikes etc.
- FA (10/5): - All very good ! Recommended
- Sebastian (10/5): Excellent Mountain top finca - Absolutely amazing hotel with the most amazing views in all of region, wonderful service, excellent food, and central location between Salento/Cocora and Filandia. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
- Ernst (8/5): - Das Personal war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet. Der Ausblick in die Berge war atemberaubend.
- xantha (8/5): - Great customer wevuce
- Troy (10/5): - Overall greatvexperience/stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful looking mansion with crowded cafe - Would recommend that someone is there to let people in if they get in before the check in time. We were there a few hours before check in, but could not get in because the gate was closed and nobody answered the ring for about 10 minutes. So we were worried we would not be able to get inside the gated area.
- Ryan (10/5): - This was one of the most enjoyable hotel stays of my life!
- Caroline (10/5): Beautiful Stay in Salento - The hotel was beautiful and had gorgeous views. The staff were very helpful and kind and the driver that helped us get around was super nice and reliable. The only thing was that the location is not super convenient as it is about a 20 minute drive from Salento. However, the helpfulness of the staff and the beautiful building and landscape helped make up for that.
- Alejandro (10/5): - The tranquility is unmatched, the comfort of the rooms and the beauty of all its facilities.
It could improve in providing food service for lunch and dinner at room.
- susan (10/5): - What a gem! Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The views cannot be beat. Please be warned that this location is about 20 minutes outside of Salento. The hotel is wonderful in assisting with getting transportation to and from Salento but you will need to factor that time into your plans. You could also search for car services in Salento if you want to find your own.
The hotel itself is very well maintained. Although there is some updating that can be done in the rooms. Breakfast is amazing and they can also call in a personal chef for a fee if you don’t feel like staying in Salento for dinner. Just let them know in advance. There is a trail that takes you down to the river but beware it is a downhill trail and if you’re not acclimated, can be daunting.
Service is so accommodating. They go above and beyond for their patrons and it was like we were at home away from home. Everyone on the property is so lovely and truly made our stay one of the best experiences of Colombia.
- ORLANDO J (10/5): Heaven. - If this landscape is heaven then I would stay here. How wonderful it is and how amazing it is to see all the beauty of the mountains in front of me. If someone needs peace of mind, and good treatment, then Hotel Reserva Monarca is the ideal place. I am very grateful to Mr. Luis, his unique attention made us feel as if the place was ours. Also many thanks to Kevin who was always attentive to what we needed late at night. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need for your stay.
- Donna (10/5): - Absolutely stunning! The photos don’t do it justice.
Luxe furnishings, bedding and artwork. Former high-end home/estate and it feels like it. Excellent service.
Close to Salento/Cocori and Filandia. Quiet, serene but close to everything.
Would highly recommend!
- Claudia (10/5): - Staff incredible helpful and friendly. One of the rooms that I reserved could used an update as well as a reparation to the wall that had humidity issue.
- enrique (8/5): - Habitaciones amplias, vistas muy buenas, personal muy atento. Como aspecto mejorable el estado de algunos muebles e instalaciones que necesitan ser sustituidos o reparados
- Heasook (10/5): - Spectacular view! Truly a hidden gem! It was way better than I have expected based on the description on the website. Christian was such a wonderful person to work with. I had no problem communication with him in English. I highly recommend it. A beautiful retreat place!
- Jonathan (10/5): - Lovely quiet hotel. They were not serving food except breakfast, but there is a handy restaurant close by (but closes at 7 p.m.). Fantastic views and great trail down into the valley on hotel property.
- john (10/5): Great view - Clean with fantastic views. A little far from any town.
- Edison (10/5): - Very nice place, service was good
- Jimena (10/5): Lo recomiendo. - El lugar es hermoso, limpio, comodo
Con una vista hermosa, nos atendieron muy bien.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel, 20mn away from town - We had a great stay at the property.
Only - was : The room that was quite small and we were surprised there was no service (for have lunch or dinner). However we had the option to buy our own food and put it in the fridge.
+: the view is breathtaking! The breakfast was great, and the team is very friendly, they did everything to make us feel home and let us stay in the room until we had to go to the airport
- Veronica (10/5): Paradise in the mountains - Amazing place to stay, incredible people, so kind and friendly. I will definitely come back to the same place. Was a very pleasant experience for my daughter and I.
- Marie-Josée (10/5): - Amazing place!
- Stephen (10/5): - Christian was fantastic and very helpful; great views, building, and overall vibe.
Breakfast was outstanding, just wish there were other meal options onsite.
- Andres (10/5): - Un excelente lugar para descansar, tiene todo el confort necesario y una vista espectacular
- Francis (10/5): Wonderful! - I don’t usually write reviews, but for this hotel I’ll make an exception. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of with true Colombian hospitality (with an English speaking host), and then some. The breakfast was healthy and tasty, the atmosphere so peaceful, and the amenities delightful. Guests will love the spa, sauna and steam room, before watching the sunset over the magnificent view. I very strongly recommend this lovey hotel to all!
- Juan (10/5): - The Hotel Reserva Monarca has an incredible view of the mountains and valleys of the region and the best part is that they have a beautiful trail that takes you directly from the house down the valley so that you can explore the scenery and beauty of the landscape within the property. Truly special.
- Orna (8/5): - The view alone made the this hotel my favorite place during my Colombia trip. Picture eating a beautiful, scrumptious, breakfast while overlooking picturesque landscape with birds gracefully flying above (being the only thing to prove it isn't a painting)!
Staff were great, sauna/jacuzzi was awesome. Rooms were a great size.
A few issues, that would not dissuade me from staying there again:
-Needed clearer directions to hotel--google sends you up a road that does not exist. Road sings for the hotel are faded
-My room's bathroom door didn't close all the way and I was sharing it with a friend
-The bed would squeak with every move, once again I was sharing the room with a friend and this was still an issue.
-The bathroom furniture was a bit run down
...but that view!
- Alejandro (10/5): - Great staff, beautiful place, fantastic views and the room are really great and comfortable
- Adriana (10/5): Muy bueno - Muy bien, excelente atención al cliente
- Amir Ali (10/5): - Amazing view and great service. Better to have a car when staying there. Can easily become a 5 star boutique hotel with minor upgrades to facilities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome place with perfect service! Cristian is the best!!!
- Monica (10/5): - Its the perfect place to relax, been around nature waa very comfortable. The environment the animals it was great. I will definitely go.back. the staff was excellent. Beautiful place
- Étienne (10/5): Best stay in Colombia - This hotel is so much more then I expected. The main casa is awesome, view for your meals is over Salento and simply exceptional. But once you start exploring you actually discover all that makes it amazing. The cabana next to the river, the bar, the animals animals they take care of for recovery (dogs, poneys, horses, rabbits, etc.). You can enjoy the jacuzzi, massages, long walks, perfect to relax. Christian who manages the place was awesome and helped us organize our travel in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Spectacular views in the coffee zone - This small hotel has a spectacular view of both sides of the ridge upon which it is perched. The dining terrace overlooks the charming colonial town of Salento. We enjoyed dinner there and also the made to order breakfasts. The hotel manager could not have been more helpful during our stay, giving us sightseeing and dining recommendations that were spot on. My room, on the corner, had fun colorful furnishings and looked out to the valley beyond incredible deep red Amaryllis. My friends’ room had direct access to the terrace and funky swinging chairs.
- Lou (6/5): - The property is beautiful with amazing views. The proximity to towns and activities was 20 minutes by taxi or bus. This made the location very inconvenient.
- Alexandra (8/5): - The hotel is 25 mins outside of Salento with amazing views. They happily arranged taxis for us. Food was very good and good value for money.
- Irene (10/5): - The Reserve was set in a beautiful hillside about 20 minutes outside of Salento. The views were spectacular. The owner graciously agreed to let us cancel without penalty because we wanted to be in town.
- cuky1 (10/5): - Fantastic views of the mountains. Beautiful patios.
- David (10/5): Once in a lifetime experience surrounded by nature - The hotel is located on a hill side with a spectacular view towards the mountains. The view is breathtaking . The view is one in a million and is worth every penny you pay at this hotel. Aside from the view, the staff is friendly, professional and go out of there way to make your stay one in a million . They made my hotel stay into an experience I will never forget. If you search the area there are hotels with view but no service or service with no view, but this property has created a unique , one of a kind experience that will stay with you for a lifetime .
This hotel is a finca style home that’s been converted to a hotel. The rooms are updated , the views are amazing , and the food is delicious
Gracias Cristian y Tatiana por una maravillosa experencia !
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful view from room, friendly staffs, good breakfast, excellent for a relaxing trip
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is nothing less than magical. The facility staff ambiance attention to detail food ... and the views ... I will most certainly come back. If you are looking for a peaceful feels like home experience, this is the place. Thanks to Cristian and his staff for a memorable vacation. Loved it from start to finish.
- John (10/5): - Vanessa treated me like royalty, she deserves a promotion!
- Maranatha (10/5): Luxury, excellent service, tranquil comfort. - Paradise.
Clean, amazing, tranquil setting, with classic and modern style. We feel beyond fortunate to have reserved the cabin. Wow. Imagine a cute log cabin with its own jacuzzi, rainfall showerhead with hot water, in a shower with slate stone wall and floor, two bedrooms and livingroom with cozy fireplace and mini kitchen. We were able to really unwind with no noises or lights around, nothing but the sound of frogs outside the window, not another guest to be found, until we were ready to head up to the main resort.. Christian and his team transported us to and from the cabin each evening and morning in an impeccably clean jeep, and the hotel provided us with a scrumptious breakfast included each day with fresh juice, coffee, fresh fruit and eggs to order with fresh bread each morning. We ate each morning on the covered patio, overlooking the green peaceful valley . We ate dinner here a couple of times also, the salmon was so superb that my 6-yr-old has asked if we can return to Salento just for the Salmon!
Christian gave us excellent advice and suggestions with places to visit and tours during our stay, it was lovely. We just can't stop raving about the Reserva Monarcha, best hotel stay of my ENTIRE life.
- Gerard (8/5): Beautiful setting; some room for improvement - The setting is beautiful and they try really hard to please. They went out of their way to fix a glitch with your room reservation which was very much appreciated. The rooms themselves are very clean but were a little too small for our comfort. They could improve by installing real curtains / blackout (their curtains are transparent so you get woken up early; not a bad thing if you are an early riser, but we got in at 3:30 am after a wedding so the 6 am sunrise was definitely not appreciated), and installing a proper key-dial system to get into the property late at night (we had to wait 10 - 15 minutes one night since no one appeared to be manning their intercom; we honked the horn a few times intermittently but felt bad but once we realized we were out of options then we kept our horn pressed until someone ultimately work up and remotely opened the gate ... feel bad for their immediate neighors but it was either that or we spend the night in our car). Overall we enjoyed the stay but the curtains and door entrance are things that could be easily fixed and significantly detract from any negative inconveniences.
