The Balinese buildings are delightful, it is spotless and the staff are friendly. You can walk to the airport or up to Kuta easily. I discovered it when I was looking for somewhere reasonably priced for a layover and pleased that I did.

• Pearlette (10/5): Near Airport; Friendly and Accommodating Staff - This was my third stay at the Kutaya-- it is so conveniently located near the airport (allow time for the driver to get lost, though, lol) that it is hard to pass up. Plus, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I will gladly stay again when I return to Bali.

• Pearlette (10/5): Friendly, Helpful Staff! Great Location. - Friendly, helpful staff. Great hotel for a quick stay near the airport- this is my second visit and I've booked the third for the night before flying out of Bali. Food is good if you're pressed for time or are tired from just flying in.

• Michael (2/5): - The bed sheets were super dirty, the shower points out toward the door and cannot be adjusted downward, the shower also took 5 mins to heat up. The air conditioning was also very poor. Safe enough walk from the airport, only about 10 mins down some sketchy alleyways. Overall this was a pretty poor place to stay.

What stands out is the courtyard, filled with elaborate temples (I think that's what they are - I'm too new to Bali to say for sure). Excellent Wi-Fi, measured at 150 Mbps.

• Gilles (8/5): Bel endroit qui semble perdre de son charme - C’est notre cinquième séjour à cet endroit et malheureusement, c’est le plus décevant. Un accueil froid, voire glacial à notre arrivée, malgré une inscription rapide. Si on compare avec les hôtels ou homestays voisins, le petit déjeuner est correct, sans plus. Une petite bouteille d’eau que l’on peut remplir une fois par jour une station à la réception, c’est bien pour l’environnement, mais lorsque la chambre se situe loin à l’étage, cela devient lassant, Alors on achète des bouteilles d’eau en plastique ! Superbe environnement et chambre correcte, literie confortable, climatisation réglable, produits de base en bouteilles rechargeables. Toutefois, l’âme que nous adorions de l’endroit semble avoir changé, dommage. The Kutaya se trouve à moins de dix minutes à pied de l’aéroport international, mais est-ce assez pour que l’on revienne?

• Verified traveler (8/5): - For a basic hotel close to the airport this is a fine place to stay. The rooms are basic and the bathroom spartan but it was quiet and the air-con was cold. Bed was comfortable enough. It’s very close to the airport - a ten minute walk - making it ideal for a place to sleep between flights. Food from the restaurant was delicious. Overall not a fancy place but definitely good enough for a rest.
• Sherrie (10/5): - People are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are pretty and clean. The property and pool are so pretty. It is off the main road so it feels so nice to be tucked away, yet easy to walk out to the busy area.
• Twila (10/5): - We stayed at The Kutaya for 2 weeks and thought it was wonderful. The staff were always lovely, kind and helpful. Breakfast was provided and yummy. The lobby is manned 24 hrs a day. Lipping Mall is around 500m away and the beach is around 200m. There are no kettles in the room but hot water is available in the lobby anytime. It is near the airport so very convenient and spotlessly clean. We would definitely stay again.
• Joerg (6/5): Fooled by the rating - Whoever wrote in his/her review that the hotel is in walking distance must be a surprime athlete. There is no way you could walk and find the place in some back alley. The hotel is old and surely could do with some renovation. The staff was very friendly.
• Mirvat (6/5): - Only stayed for 1 night and staff was extremely kind, pleasant and helpful. We got a delicious welcome drink and were very warmly greeted. Bathroom is a bit run down and could use some work and there were quite a few mosquitos in the room as well as a lizard. However, since we were only there for a night we didn’t even bring it up and the staff was so lovely I’m sure they would have helped out to make amends. * We noticed some reviews talked about fending off aggressive dogs to get to the property and I would like to note that we encountered these dogs and they are not aggressive nor do they really interact with tourists unless you engage them. They were very cute and fun to watch play

They helped me correct my booking for the night I arrived & the host was very sweet. Room is basic, I got the deluxe but there wasn’t anything deluxe about it. But he that’s what you get for $26 😄

• Lewis (8/5): Nice stay after a late flight - We checked in around 12pm (midnight) and were greeted with welcome drinks. The staff were so attentive, and kind. Our room was one of the best we have stayed in across our backpacking journey over South East Asia. Really good breakfast options too - 3 menus to pick from! We had an omelette and a banana pancake. Would recommend. Great value for money!
• Douglas (10/5): - I got in at 1 am and Denpasar is a big city and it's bali. Kutaya is a small hotel but it's also a temple. It is not fancy but the rate was unbelievable and I saw it mentioned on YouTube. If you're looking for a resort type place this is not it but if you're looking for a reasonable rate in a very cool, interesting place I highly recommend and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Minutes from the airport. I would have walked but it was midnight.

• Mai-Len (6/5): - My husband and I stayed here right before our flight to Manila. It is very conveniently located to the airport. It’s also close to Kuta beach. We rented a moped for a few hours to ride around the area and watch the sunset at the beach. The room itself had all the basics, no frills lol. It was clean. The premises were also very beautiful. The only downside is you have to walk a good while from the Main Street to get to the hotel. We felt very safe walking around the area.

The hotel is super convenient to the airport, my room was simple and comfy. If I planned to stay in the area, I would definitely come back
• Joseph (2/5): Unhelpful Management - I booked this hotel for three separate stays because of its close location to the airport and because of the luggage storage it offered. The plan was to use this hotel as a base and go off and see a couple of islands and return here each time for a night or two. When I asked if I could leave my luggage at the hotel while I was away for a few nights at first they said no, then they said I could but for a fee. This is disgraceful and unprofessional. It states on the website that they offer storage facilitates. The fact that I had already paid in full for my future bookings made no difference. Access to the hotel is down a couple of dark alleys. Be careful late at night. Location is good for the airport and the room is a good size. If you do stay here, just hope you dont have any problems. The chances are the management will not help you.

There was more than enough room at the hotel for one bag but the management refused to help. The hotel is also located in a dimly lit area. You will need to walk down a minimum of two dark alleys to get to the hotel. Be careful late at night.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel close to airport - This was the perfect place to stay before my flight out. I had a very early flight and had no issue walking to the airport. The pool was nice and just what I needed after a busy trip. I wouldn’t spend my entire Bali vacation at that hotel, but for a night before or after a flight it was perfect and a good deal.

• Kostyantyn (10/5): Good value for money - Incredibly good value for money. Small but very nice hotel or Bali style resort (with a pool and chill zone and everything). It’s within walking distance from the airport, so you can just ignore all those taxi mafia harassments on arrival

Other than that it's was ok, although I wouldn't want to stay there more than a couple of nights. Pros: it was quiet, had the only properly functioning ac I've come across in Bali and in a great location. Cons: damp smell and English not great. For example, I wanted to get a coffee (bear in mind this is way after breakfast time). Me 'can I get a coffee please?' Confused looks, furrowing of brows. 'no, your room does not come with breakfast'. Me 'yes I know, can I get a coffee please?'. 'No, no breakfast. You have to pay.' Me: 'OK, no problem. Can I have a coffee please?'. Still looks unsure. The lady who I think must own the place comes out, 'you want to buy a coffee?'. Me 'yes please'. Lady 'coffee stuff is over there, you can get it yourself'... For me this wasn't great customer service and was far more complicated than it needed to be.

• Trevor (8/5): Cheap clean hotel for short stay - This hotel is combined with temples on the same parcel of land which is very unique. The room was very small with nowhere to sit other than in the bed. Good for one or two nights only. Access to hotel is via very narrow laneways big enough for small taxi but it is two way!! Staff and limited food menu very good. Fifi in front counter makes the visit worthwhile.

• J (8/5): - We only stayed one night at this hotel as we had an early flight out of Denpasar so our experience was just fleeting. However, I can say that the location was very quiet, the hotel was charming with various deities and shrines on the grounds, it was spotlessly clean, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and we were graciously welcomed with a complimentary cold drink and a warm smile from the receptionist who was expecting us and had all our details to hand - I was very impressed with the efficiency and organisation. Our room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable indeed - not to mention absolutely enormous. Sadly we didn't have a chance to use the pool, but it looked very inviting. It was a shame we couldn't have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are clean, but the bathroom in our room stinks from the drain. The pool is nice. All in all, a good stay.

The only downside is that the addess is not correct, that's why it's not easy to find! The correct address is Jalan Dewi Sartika Gg satelit 5. It is still walking distance to Kuta and the main street Kartika plaza.

Besides those pluses the hotel was not very clean. We picked it because of its cleanliness ratings but didn't meet our expectations. Also location close to Kuta and airport but the actual hotel is in a pretty dark steet.
