Guest Reviews

- Arkaprabho (9/5): -
- Roland (9/5): - Location was good, common space was comfortable, and everything I would want in a hostel.

- He (10/5): Best value for money. - I like it very much. The staff were super nice and helpful. Location was also convenient. Jus expect a little climbing.

I would love to return. Thank you! - The patio garden area with the bubbling fountain and plants was beautiful. Everything was super clean and chill. Juanjo was very helpful with all questions and went out of his way to accommodate whatever one needed. I love this place. Also, liked being close to everything. It might be nice to have curtains around the bunk bed for a little extra privacy.
- Vera (9/5): Een uniek, gezellig, pittoresk verblijf.

- Fatima (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed my staying there , it was a beautiful experience with the best service , the location was also wonderful
- Tomas (10/5): Perfect little place to stay in Albaicín. - Stayed with children and decided that when we come back, we'll just remain in Albaicín - the area is beautiful and there is no need to descend into the city which tends to be crowded, noisy, dusty and hot. In our room there was some noise from the water boiler during the night, but it was noticeable mainly because otherwise the area is supremely quiet.
- Niki (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing. Spent 3 nights here, it was great. Good location, super clean and the best staff! Thank you
- Natsuki (10/5): I just loved their hostel! - I had a wonderful time in Granada, which was greatly helped by Amakahouse :) Very warmhearted people and atmosphere, comfortable rooms, perfect location to enjoy the Alhambra and Albaicin. Nothing!
- Alexis (9/5): Superb - It was really quaint, in a beautiful area, close to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. The only issue really was having no ability to control the temperature in the shower (sometimes scalding, sometimes not quite hot enough.)
The kitchen was a little tight for multiple people, but the shared area for eating/lounging outdoors was lovely and quiet.
Overall, I'd recommend and come back. Thanks for much! Lack of temp control in the shower. Wifi wasn't great.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Apart from the massive climb to get there. Found out after there is a handy no.31 bus leaves you 2 mins away.
We were greeted by Mercedes who was super nice and she explained everything and showed us to our room. It was separate from the main house, spacious and quiet.
The facilities are great and clean. The courtyard is a great place to relax. Kitchen is nice with a vending machine for drinks and snacks. All the appliances and kitchenware you need.
Lots of info in reception and Juanjo is very helpful.
It was a wonderful stay for 2 nights and I highly recommend it. Nothing.
- M (9/5): Superb - Fantastic Find for All Travelers!
This hostel truly lives up to the hype! As a backpacker, the hilltop location was a real bonus, putting me just a stone's throw away from the bus stop – perfect for exploring the area without any hassle. However, I could see how families with very young children or elderly travelers might find the incline a bit challenging.
For the family I met during my stay, the hostel was a godsend. They raved about the clean, separate rooms, which gave them the space and privacy they needed, a real plus when traveling with kids. The shared kitchen was also a big hit, allowing them to prepare some of their own meals and save a bit on eating out.
What really stood out to everyone, myself included, was the lovely, quaint atmosphere of the place. It felt welcoming and comfortable, like a home away from home. But the real gem was Juan at reception. His helpfulness was truly exceptional – always ready with a smile, local tips, and going above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great stay.
Whether you're a solo backpacker looking for convenience and a friendly vibe, or a family needing comfortable and practical accommodation, this hostel is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended for its comfortable accommodations and outstanding service! Just be mindful of the hill if you have very young children or mobility concerns.
- Eileen (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff and lovely amenities It is situated up a hill - vehicle can only go so far, which we were unaware of.
- Nopy99 (8/5): Nice for a short stay. good location for exploring - No fuss hostel
close to bus routes and viewing points. Need to take a bus. its on top of hill near mirador so walking from central town is difficult. - but there are lots of buses and very frequent.
- Lisa (10/5): Creative, bohemian style hostel with a warm welcome - For a stay in the Albaicin, this was perfect. Creative, quirky and bohemian with fabulous staff. Kitchen, garden, common areas all so well thought out and beautifully maintained . Loos and showers are a bit intimate !
- Ragues (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abigail (8/5): Memorabilia - Great location and friendly vibe nice check in You have to realise it’s not a b&b we had no towels but the check in staff gave us them on request. The kitchen is spotless and the toilets and showers no complaints x
- Polina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! The outdoor and indoor chill areas are beautiful, the bathrooms clean, the beds comfy and the staff super nice!! The kitchen is also well equipped and the location is great - you really are close to everything that Granada has to offer. Nothing
- John (8/5): Only Fans!!! - The kitchen was handy to make breakfast and for storing food in the fridge. The hostel was quiet when I was there which suited me. There was a nice TV room to hang out in. The host was pleasant and helpful. Air conditioning wasn't working when I was there. Didn't want to open the windows at night as there were mosquitos coming into the room, however the host did provide portable fans. The sensor lights in the showers didn't stay on for long enough when showering which was a bit of a nuisance. The only other thing was the walk to the hostel on the first day. If you're bringing a large suitcase be prepared for the mother of all workouts.
- Johannes (8/5): Very good -
- Laurence (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and calm!
The kitchen is very complete and it is near the main attractions!
- Atef (10/5): Exceptional -
- Madison (9/5): Cute cozy space - Wonderfully cozy little hostel situated around a very cute little private courtyard. This hostel is a loverly place to relax and have a chilled stay in an otherwise sometimes busy city! The hostel host was excellent - very attentive and kind, and he kept the place incrediblely clean and tidy. The kitchens were small but had everything you needed to cook some meals. I stayed in a 4 bed female only dorm and the bed was very comfortable The wifi wasn't great and didn't reach the main lounge space at all, which was one of the best places to relax or do work during siesta. A mirror and a few more decorations in the in the dorm would have 5 useful/nice.
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional - This property was a wonderful place to stay. Loved the hammocks. My room was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed staying here!
- Mounir (8/5): Very good -
- Siti (8/5): Very good - I love that it was located in Albaicin because I wanted to stay near the Grand Mosque of Granada. It was amazing that it was located in a historic location. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff. It also had the traditional vibes~
- Minor (10/5): Hostal super bien para relajar en Granada :) - Was a great trip to Amaka house, because it's perfect for a relaxed stay in Granada.
- Valentino (9/5): Superb -
- Eran (10/5): Beautiful! - Amaka house is located in a beautiful neighborhood, and the place itself is charming and full of character. The personnel was unbelievably friendly. We arrived very late at night and they waited up for us and guided us on the phone. The neighborhood is difficult to access with a car. This is not a problem if you don't mind parking outside and walking for 10-15 minutes.
- Yutaro (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Good stay - Location The pillow was too hard!
- Eime (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vesna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dale (8/5): Very good - Great location in the Albaicin, within walking distance to the town and restaurants. Good shared facilities and very quiet! Nothing
- Chiara.cj (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, helpful staff, beautiful patio All good
- Avery (9/5): Superb -
- Kate (10/5): Can’t wait to stay here again - This hostel is perfect! Was able to really relax and chill here. was amazing being in the beautiful area it’s located in and is half the reason I enjoyed Granada so much. Staff are great and gave me incredible recommendations, ask George, he knows the city like the back of his hand. Nothing
- Maryna (10/5): Exceptional - Just a beautiful place with everything one might need. Friendly lovely stuff. Atmospheric location. Thank you ❤️
- Meliza (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (9/5): Hostel delight - I loved this hostel! My friend & I stayed in twin room. Room had a sink which was handy, shared shower room was standard for hostel (timed), but the communal areas (hammock, courtyard, chill room, kitchen) & the vibe (relaxed, friendly & down to earth; met lovely & varied fellow travellers & there's even a sociable resident terrapin & cat) was what really set Amaka House apart. Absolutely the kind of hostel I'm always trying to find.
- Thalia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoltán (9/5): Superb -
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Gayathri (7/5): Very good - Great location, homely place. The location was great. near miradores and away from the hustle. Kitchen was well equipped and the rooms were ok. The lockers were not inside the room. They were strangely in the basement. The communal area was in the open which maybe great in spring or summer but would be too cold for anyone to hang out in, during other times of the year. The beds were weird. My female-only room had 4 beds stacked on top of each other.. right upto the ceiling which made it kinda feel like a coffin. Too little space between each bed in the dorm. This was my first experience in a hostel so I didnt have anything to compare it with. But now that i've stayed in many more, I could tell that this place was decent if you needed a bed, but may not be great if you want to socialize.
- Martiytraw92 (8/5): Very good - I loved how the place has been characterized and the good mood around.
The room are big and there are many common areas. It was not clear towel are not included and the bathroom is mixed, sometimes it can be not so easy to manage.
- Janis (1/5): too greedy - location and design towel for 3 EUR, you kiding! bed in 3rd flor was simply crazy!
- Lisette (8/5): Great location, generally good stay. - The location is unbeatable. From here you can walk anywhere and there’s lots of great food, shopping, bars, public transportation within 10 min walking. Staff is also very friendly! I stayed in the female dorm and it was comfortable but the bathroom has no full walls, meaning that you don’t see the other but you can hear them. So if you have any anxiety doing your business with people hearing you, then you need to wait for the room to be empty.. it’s also pretty noisy for others who want to sleep and you’re brushing your teeth.
Also, the indoor common area is a bit small so it’s hard to meet others. Its not a super sociable hostel.
- Adrián (8/5): Very good -
- Kota (10/5): Exceptional - friendly,kindly,kitchen
- Kea (9/5): Very Content! - I stayed in the Amaka House for one night. The staff was so incredibly friendly - I immediately felt comfortable when i arrived! The Hostel is Well located so you can reach the old town within a few Minutes! And it is Just so cute, I loved it!
- Dennis (10/5): Such a lovely place - Seriously have a stay here. The hostel is well equipped and in best condition. It has a comfortable atmosphere and such a lovely staff. I’d stay here for sure a second and a third time.
- Csaby007 (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was very nice, place is cool My bed was small, and it was in dangerously high. The city center is not that close, and you have to walk up to a hill.
