Guest Reviews
- Michelle (10/5): Excellent stay - Perfect location fantastic views from the balcony. Extremely friendly staff. Request 1st floor if you dont have a head for heights
- Mary (10/5): - Very nice hotel although very small rooms but was expected. Great location. Very helpful staff. Highly recommend for a short stay in gytheio
- Nektaria (4/5): - Das Bad war unzumutbar!
- Hanne (6/5): - Nice views over the habour, but very noisy at night ( partly from the road, partly from the bar on ground floor)
- KALLIOPI (6/5): OK for the size of the city. - An average hotel with good location and friendly personnel.
- Wolfgang (10/5): - Sehr netter Service
Gute Erreichbarkeit
- Claudio (10/5): Clean, excellent location and breakfast - Very clean. The crew deserves some praise.
The room was spacious, had a balcony with a view towards the harbor, a safe and AC.
The bed was very good and the towels and bedsheets were of excellent quality.
The bathroom, even though a bit small, was nice and I had no trouble showering unlike other reviews mention.
The shower had amazing water pressure and the sink was huge.
WiFi was pretty good, better than in other places in Greece.
The breakfast was very nice and there is a terrace where you can just appreciate the sea-view.
Plenty of restaurants nearby and 10 minutes on foot from the KTEL bus station.
Most staff speaks english and is professional and very efficient.
Thank you for the room upgrade and the late check-in.
- Melpomeni (8/5): - Overall satisfied. There is not even one parking place in front of the the hotel to upload the baggages. Another thing is that I have booked one twin and one double but they gave us two twins. No change was possible
- Verified traveler (8/5): Καλη διαμονή - Πολυ μικρο μπανιο, καλο πρωινό. Καπως παλιο κτίριο (δωματιο)
- Tracy (10/5): Great views - Just needed a bed and a shower for a couple of nights. Great views. Friendly staff. Rooms are small but ok for what we needed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room was very small. I asked for double bed and they gave me two single. You can't even walk in the room. The bath is only for a 10 years old kid, if you are older you have to be 40kg if you want to fit into the bath. Breakfast was poor, I eat only one of 4 days . Value for money is something that you will not find here.
- KL (6/5): - Not much to like. Complimentary breakfast was good and staff were nice. Bed was hard as a rock and noise from the street was horrible. Smallest bathroom I've ever seen in my life.
- Martin (10/5): Charming, traditional hotel on the waterfront. - We stayed at the Aktaion for two weeks in mid-September. We couldn't have wished for a more ideal location for a really relaxing holiday.
The hotel is old fashioned in the best possible way. The elegant building was renovated a few years ago and has been well maintained since then. Accommodation is simple, but very clean and comfortable. All rooms have sea-facing balconies and sitting out in the evenings with a cold beer (rooms have a fridge), watching the world go by was a delight.
Although located in the town centre, we didn't find that noise was any problem.
The Hotel no longer has a bar or restaurant of its own, but there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the immediate area.
It does, however, offer an outstanding buffet breakfast, which set us up until the evening on most days. Much of the food on offer is home-made and of excellent quality. Our only small criticism of the Hotel is that the breakfast room is a little small for the number of rooms and on some mornings there was a short wait for a table to become available.
The small staff were all charming and helpful and spoke good English. Particular mention must go to Katerina and Natassa, who come in ridiculously early to set up and serve breakfast and then go on to clean all of the rooms. They were always efficient, cheerful, polite and absolutely delightful, making a big contribution to a perfect holiday.
We shall be back next year!
- john (10/5): - great stay
- Rosie (4/5): Old Style Hotel - We booked this hotel at short notice and were very disappointed. It was old and tired and not in a good way.
- rachael (10/5): - lovely hotel, friendly and welcoming staff and excellent breakfast. Room was just what we needed, good shower, comfy bed and balcony facing the sea. Excellent restaurant Olive a few door away.
- John (10/5): - Ideal place for exploring two wonderful prongs of the Peloponnese. Lovely to sit on the balcony watching the sea scenes. We will return.
- Arthur (10/5): Return Visit - Conveniently sited. All necessary facilities Excellent breakfast. Will return
- Mazza (8/5): Excellent location in a traditional building. - The building is a classic original building, so if you are looking for bland and modern, it's not for you. However, each room comes with a balcony with a beautiful view overlooking the harbour. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were kind (we travelled with 2 boys) and at the front desk the staff tried to help us hire a car. It is traditional place, so you are reminded that you are in Greece. I would recommend it, especially for the price. And as it is a traditional building the rooms are not very big, but the balcony makes up for the size. There are a couple of beaches at 2km and one further away (it is very easy to take a taxi to both, and you can arrange a time with them to collect you too, they are very good). But if you want a local swim, if you walk north of the town there is an area where the locals swim, where you climb down a few rocks. There were a few kids swimming here with us. The water is very clean. The town has a number of good and cheap restaurants by the port - this only has a few boats now, but still worth the stroll up. Very interesting town.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice hotel and staff but too much noise at night - The hotel is very nice and the location is great but we couldn't get any sleep. The walls were very thin like others have complained and we had a very loud neighbors with TV on loud. If your young and you party very late then it might not be an issue for u
