Guest Reviews
- Sage (10/5): - Loved the space and all the entertainment it provided. It was a blast.
- Dylan (10/5): - We were very suprised how much we loved our room at the J Mex hotel and Spa as we have never stayed in a hotel of this sort before. Our room was very clean and we absolutely loved our in room amenities including jacuzzi tub, mist sauna, and big screen TV. We will definitely be staying at the J Mex again. Very short walk to the very popular Godzilla Head, and everything surrounding it.
- David (10/5): - Very large, clean rooms
- Michael (10/5): - This place was very nice and the the room comes with so many amenities
- Michele (10/5): - I love hotel j-mex. The worst part is to get down the stairs to the property if you have big luggage etc. everything else is perfect. This is a love hotel so you will see people using it for that purpose, and cigarette smell if that bothers you. If not, J-Mex is always my go to when I stay in Japan. The room is huge. The bathroom is the best. 100000/10 we love you j-mex see you next trip
- John (10/5): - Amazing service very clean helpful staff
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely Love Hotel - Very well equipped and spotlessly clean room. Bed is a futon so a bit on the hard side. Roomy for Tokyo. This is a love hotel but honestly it's absolutely fine and the sound proofing was a big plus. I would have no hesitation staying here again. And location was superb.....very close to Golden Gai and the attractions of Shinjuku
- Trevor (10/5): Fantastic stay - I stayed for three days and the staff was very accommodating. They Brought me more water when needed, helped me figure out the A/C and was so polite and professional.
The room was beautiful! I stayed in the superior queen. Everyone worked well and everything was comfortable and clean.
I recommend a few paint touch ups around the light fixtures, but that is minor.
10/10 would do again.
I recommend making the entrance more visible, I almost walked past it twice.
- Elan Brett (10/5): - Safe, clean and secure would best describe the property.
Very near the Higashi-Shinjuku Subway. The Suica Tourist Card made travel worry free.
- Roland Man Kong (8/5): - Interesting
- Mariana (10/5): - Lots of extras for a very discret price.
- Luis (10/5): - Okay, so I just gotta say, my stay at Hotel & Spa J-MEX in Shinjuku was seriously awesome! I had such a blast. First off, the room was way bigger than I expected, which was a huge plus. Tokyo rooms can be tiny, but this place felt super spacious and comfy.
A wealth of in-room amenities? Seriously, a dream! Karaoke? Yes, please! The entertainment system was so much fun, and I definitely spent a good chunk of time belting out my favorite tunes. But honestly, the steam room? That was the real MVP. My skin felt amazing, and it was the perfect way to chill after a busy day.
I'm so grateful for the staff, too. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful, like, seriously the nicest people ever. They were on it!
And the location? Perfect! Being right in Kabukicho, everything was within walking distance. So many amazing places to eat and explore. Shinjuku is just so lively, and it was so cool to be right in the middle of it all.
Honestly, I had such a great time at Hotel & Spa J-MEX. If you’re looking for a fun, unique, adults-only stay with awesome in-room perks and a killer location, you should totally check it out. I'm so glad I did!
- Austin (10/5): - Walk to golden gain for drinks and ramen, then sweat out the booze the next day in your own personal sauna or two person bath tub.
- Christopher Kelly (10/5): - Convenient location, easy walk from metro station
- Caralyn (10/5): - The amenities were unparalleled! Loved the steam sauna and many amenities like yukata and self care products. Awesome last night in Japan for us with karaoke and NES - so fun!
- Jess (8/5): - Great steam sauna with lots of free amenities! Room smelled a bit like cigarette smoke and needed some cleaning. Furniture and floor showed some wear. Didn't receive a welcome drink as was advertised but that wasn't a big deal.
- George (10/5): Great stay and location - Great hotel, great location near the a useful metro stop. Incredible shower and steam room and tub. Bed was a little hard for my liking but we still slept well.
- Franz Oliver (10/5): - The hotel was very clean and staff were very helpful
- Jonathan (8/5): Unique eccentric hotel - Unique hotel with a full sauna and jacuzzi inside ! Very clean. Great location close to shopping and night life. Red light district nearby could be a perk !
- Avraham (10/5): - It was great
- Nicole (8/5): - Good for being cheap. But the bed was hard, theres no windows to look out. I did like the big jacuzzi bath and. Steam room. Also whenever we left and asked for cleaning they would do it. That was nice. The area around isnt very nice but its only a 5 minute walk to better areas
- Arturo (10/5): - Not traditional, but great!
- Connor (4/5): Not worth - Only able to stay there for 2 days. Service was terrible. Recommend only going for a day or 2. The room was ok at least
- Timothy (10/5): - It was good
- Joanne (8/5): Definitely worth a stay - Extra large room with a steam room and spa bath. Excellent facilities, good location, really quiet area. Only downsides is the lobby was very Smokey and the air conditioning was really loud. Great value for money overall.
- Pyper (6/5): - I booked this because of the “adults only” element (thinking it would be nice and quiet) and the location (near shinjuku) - without being aware of what a Japanese love hotel was. The amenities in the room (sauna, karaoke) were fun but I would not stay here for an extended period of time. The longer we stayed, we realized the quirky/mismatched decor was mostly there to distract from stains, and although the staff were prompt and kind, it still never felt completely clean. Safety was also a concern as the lock was key based, we were always asked to return the key before leaving, and there was no second lock to prevent anyone from getting in while we were in the room.
- Daniel (8/5): - Didn’t realize this was a love hotel when booking. The neighborhood and reception desk was extremely sketchy, but the room was amazing. Sauna and bath were great and the coffee & tea was delicious. The pillows were a bit flat and the condoms were too small, but there was a massage chair in the room with mood lighting & karaoke. Overall definitely worth the price if you’re looking for a cheap stay between hotels.
- Jillian (6/5): Wouldn't do multiple nights... - I think some of the reviews on hotels.com for J-MEX are fake - I would never stay here for multiple nights again. The experience of a love hotel was cool, but not for multiple nights. Pillows/bed are not meant for a comfortable sleep, I ended up using my travel pillow but still had a sore body each morning.
That being said, the amenities were nice and the room was certainly spacious.
- Keiko (10/5): - Everything was great, location and amenities and staff service was very nice. It was very specious room and clean! I wish we have more time to spend inside the room such as karaoke and sauna in unit! Thank you so much!
- Kaelin (10/5): - Beautiful love hotel tucked away on a quite side street in Shinjuku! It is about a 5 minute walk to the nearest subway station, and also a 5 minute walk to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. The night life and dining is first rate, and the location makes it the perfect hub to be able to get anywhere in Tokyo easily by train. We've been here twice, and will definitely be back another time due to the sheer value and convenience.
- Sok Hiang (10/5): - Ensuite Jacuzzi and sauna are the best things to have after a whole day's of shopping and walking.
- Cody (10/5): - This place was truly amazing over. I accidentally left my shoes when leaving for Kyoto and sent a message to them asking if I could get them when I make it back to Tokyo the following week and they said it wouldn’t be a problem at all. Truly amazing hospitality. Would and will be staying again in the future.
- Jade Anne (10/5): - Such a lovely stay in Shinjuku. The room was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Love the little gifts. Will come back again on our next Japan trip!
- Christopher (10/5): - The hotel had everything that I needed. If you forget anything I am sure they will have it there. The jacuzzi was amazing. My partner and I enjoyed it daily. Most staff spoke little English however they went out of their way to understand us with apps and we're very thoughtful. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Japan.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I Like This Hotel. - I really enjoyed my seven nights here. The staff was friendly, my room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, I loved the shower room, sauna, & jacuzzi. I wished I had time to use the karaoke machine. Next time! The location was convenient. Most of my points of interest, including the train stations, was within a 10-minute walk. If I decide to stay in Shinjuku again, I would rebook this hotel.
- YE (10/5): - This property is being managed well above normal standards. All staff working in the different shifts were very helpful. The dry sauna and oversized bathroom equipped with a jacuzzi could easily beat most 5 star hotels.
- Paul (10/5): - Lots of great amenities (lotions, hair products, etc.). Enjoyed the mist bath. Helpful staff. Highly recommended! :)
- Warren (10/5): - Spacious room with good facilities
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will come back - I had a rough first 24 hours..wallet left in cab and absolutely dead tired. Not only did they defer until the next day, they helped getting wallet back.
Room was great and roomy, location great, would book again in a heartbeat.
- David (10/5): - This place is incredible. As other reviews stated, don't let the "love hotel" status put you off. The rooms were bigger than standard rooms in Tokyo, the amenities were like no other hotel (better than 5* hotel), the staff, although a little language barrier, went way beyond to make sure your stay was comfortable. So clean, in-room whirlpool and sauna made me not want to leave. Quiet area but so much is so close and walkable. Higashi station is like 3 minute walk, and gets you anywhere you want to go in the city (connections sometimes). One thing I would say, if you have more than a backpack, take a taxi from Shinjuku station. I took limo bus into Shinjuku and rolled suitcase to hotel....next time I'll take a taxi from the station. It was dark upon arrival, and being my first time in Tokyo, it was a little tense walking to hotel. Don't let the area scare you after dark....as soon as I unloaded luggage and walked the area, I saw it was very safe and well patrolled by police. This hotel is amazing, and next time in Tokyo, it's a for sure stay here. Don't miss this one....it beats any 5 star hotel I've stayed in for quiet relaxation with amenities and staff that can't be beat!
- Michele (10/5): - Great place to stay. The amenities are amazing and it was in a great location. The staff was lovely. We will be back!
- James (10/5): - Great location with easy access to Higashi-Shinjuku station. The staff was incredibly thoughtful and attendant to needs. The bathtub was incredible!
- Timothy John (10/5): - This property deserves more reviews as it’s a great place to stay. Ignore the area where it’s located and you will find an amazing hotel that has massive rooms for a decent price. The English speaking staff member who took me to my room was super nice and they even gave me a welcoming gift. The rest of the staff although they didn’t speak English did their best to help. Also 2 free drinks and water per day.
- wJw (10/5): - It was our first stay experience at an Adults Only hotel in Japan and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel/room, and the amenities this boutique hotel offers. My wife loved the steam room right in our unit. We did not try the Karaoke or the in-room Jacuzzi bathtub. The hotel left us small gifts for New Year's and a farewell champagne on our last night. Very thoughtful and impressive service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So this is a love hotel - but don't be turned off by that! It's actually quite classy and pleasant, and a great place to stay for a full vacation in Shinjuku!
There are a lot of great things about this hotel:
- Incredibly conveniently located in Shinjuku, without any of the accompanying noise (it's tucked away in a side street)
- Friendly staff who know when to help and when you would prefer privacy
- Adorable room with an absolute plethora of amenities!!
- Hot tub and sauna en suite!
- Very reasonable priced!
All in all, I would definitely stay again!
- Kate (10/5): - Loved everything about the place. I booked it on the strength of the reviews it received. I had never experienced a Japanese Love Hotel before, but can confirm it did not feel seedy at all, in fact it was rather luxurious. The lovely Suzuki gave us a warm welcome and allowed us to check in early, which was so much appreciated after a long flight from the UK. We were also gifted a bottle of Cava on our last night, which regrettably we were unable to enjoy due to a very early start to fly home. Am planning on returning to Tokyo asap and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. Huge thumbs up. It was perfect for our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect way to spend the last couple days of our trip in Tokyo! Great amenities and a very helpful staff that was always willing and happy to help with any issues, and they also helped us call a taxi upon check-out.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is nice staff are friendly comfortable the only bad thing is that every-time I leave the hotel I have to give them the key back overall happy satisfied
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was super nice and they always had an English speaker to help. We arrived early so we checked our luggage and when we returned to check in our luggage was already in the room. They also helped with taxis and made sure the driver new were we were going. 5 stars for great service
- Gabriel (8/5): From well pleased guests - I would have liked a softer bed and more songs on the karaoke. More cosplay options but besides that it was an ideal hotel. Also we weren't served breakfast which made us sad. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends to stay as well as stay again next time we are in Tokyo. I give you 4.8 stars out of 5 stars. I thank you for the wonderful stay and best service I've received any where.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved our experience here! The hotel is situated on a street full of Love Hotels which is so unique. Check in was easy, the lobby was cool looking, and the room was laid out perfectly and about double the size of any other rooms we stayed at in japan. Loved the sauna, the jet tub with Tv, and different lighting options. Plus the goodies like face masks, naughty things and stocked bathroom amenities. Would absolutely stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My husband and I loved this place, we stayed here on our last day of our trip and Im so glad we did! It had everything you could possibly need you could party or relax up to you! you could lounge in the jacuzzi and watch tv, or drink and sing karaoke. Also the room is huge (in comparison to anywhere else we stayed in Japan)
- Natalie (10/5): - I loved the amenities of the room, the in-room sauna and jacuzzi were phenomenal and made the ending to a long Asia trip perfect. Our only negative experience was with ordering room service. We ordered twice and the first time was with a female staff person, all went well. The second male staff person that took our order seemed inexperienced and we received the wrong order despite our use of pictures to avoid the potential language barrier. Otherwise, good location, close to all night life and restaurants in busy Shinjuku area. Beds could be more comfortable. complimentary water was a nice perk.
- Aaron (10/5): American Review 10/10 Stars - This hotel is not only super convenient for travelers, but SO LUXURIOUS! Don’t let the stigma of this being a Love Hotel sway you from booking. Mary Lou is the English speaking staff and she will explain all the functions of the room for you—plus she’s super nice! The room is complete with a sauna, jacuzzi tub, karaoke, surround sound audio, AND you can rent a Wii U from downstairs if you want. The hotel also give you a bag of souvenirs, bubble bath, and Epsom salts too! A great place to relax! The Higashi-Shinjuku station is just around the corner and There is SO much to do around the area. Perfect hotel for a Tokyo stay!
- Alison (10/5): - Although I believe that this hotel is normally hourly, or nightly, stays, we stayed for almost a full week. The hotel staff was accommodating and friendly, despite a language barrier. The executive concierge, as well as Maryann, another staff member, were especially helpful. Our room was made spotless every day. The amenities were amazing (sauna and jacuzzi in room, karaoke, free adult entertainment and video on demand, lots of items and toiletries to borrow or rent, 24 hour chinese food). Although the hotel was fully booked most of the time, especially on weekends, we never heard anyone - rooms are soundproofed. We were so comfortable, happy and impressed.
This hotel is in Kabukicho, which is a nightlife part of town. Golden Gai (many small bars) is nearby. There are many smaller train stations nearby, and Shinjuku station (also a big mall) is a 10 minute walk. Harajuku and Shibuya are a quick train ride away. Overall, this area was very convenient, fun, and safe. On the weekends, it gets very busy with people partying, but on weekdays and mornings, it is quiet and serene. Highly recommend staying.
- Sarah (10/5): Enjoy!Do not be put off by 💗 hotel status at all - Lovely hospitality, great hotel- so not be put off by love hotel status! Great service (Suzuki amazing and gave us a gift for our 5 yr anniversary ❤️) close or walking distance to lots of cool things to do - Gyoen Park, golden gai (bit of a rip but nice to see🤨) omoide yokocho (👍 some nice spots) and all the great shops and bars etc.
Fab 2 days, recommend. Tbh some of the other love hotels near this one look older and less nice. This one is really nice and a good base for travelling - enjoy!
- Aaron (10/5): A Great Hotel - Overall, this is a great place to stay. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. It is an easy walk to lots of fun places in Shinjuku, and just around the corner from 2 subway lines. The room has a lot of fun features, like a karaoke machine, huge selection of free movies (adult movies and traditional Hollywood movies), 2 person tub, and sauna. And, on the last night of our stay, we returned to our room in the evening to find a bottle of champagne on ice for us.
It is a love hotel though, so if you are uncomfortable with flipping through the channels and randomly hitting porn, this probably isn't the place for you.
The only cons: 1) The bed was really, really firm. I believe the bed was closer to a traditional Japanese futon than a western style mattress.
2) I believe smoking is permitted in the common areas, so the lobby and hallways can smell like cigarettes. Not a big deal, but if you are someone who has a really strong aversion to that smell, that might be a turnoff.
- Terri (10/5): - This hotel is a must stay for any couples wanting to explore Tokyo.
For a start, check in finished at 11pm. But our flight was looking to arrive late so we would potentially miss the check in time. We emailed the hotel the situation and they assured us that we would be fine to check in and no fee would be charged.
We had a goody bag waiting for us, with an explanation on how to use all the amenities by an English speaking staff member. The room had karaoke, a spa and a seperate sauna, a bidet and plenty of free water, towels and robes.
Shinjuku is only a 5 min walk, with stations all around! We travelled on the rail system with ease to Mt Fuji, Ikebukuro and Akihabara! The Golden Gai is a 5 min walk and the street the hotel is on is a quite street.
The room was cleaned each day and the free face masks bubble bathes, coffee, tea, water and towels were restocked each day. We had big days 9f exploring and walking. We can't stress enough how amazing it was to come back after each day to a spa, sauna and a stocked room.
The staff were AMAZING!!! So helpful and lovely each day. We received a bottle of champagne on our last night with some cheese crackers. We enjoyed the sparkling wine in the spa with the 'party lights ' as we called it, in our last night and slept like babies for our big flight.
Thank you Suzuki and Team. We will be back again!!!! We loved Tokyo and Japan!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Suzuki was a great concierge with excellent communication and hospitality.
- GL (10/5): - Hotel J-mex is the best hotel i’ve stayed. Just a little base for comparison: i’ve stay at corner suite in Aria Vegas, villa suite in Naraya Costa Rica, etc. I love the fun, privacy, hospitality and just overall amazing-ness of this hotel.
We stayed at the room where the jetted bathtub was huge with a sit in the middle and a TV so you can watch whatever you want while taking the best bath of your life. The water pressure is amazing. They also have this acrylic stool so you can sit while showering and the shower head can be adjusted at varying heights. There's also a wet sauna in the bathroom. I can just stay in that bathroom forever. The body wash, conditioner and shampoo are all full size. They also gave you a bath towel in addition to the bath sponge along with various bath bubble packages. Truly incredible . There were 3 different types of bath robes: a yukata, a thin white bath robe and a thick bath robe. So you can choose whichever one you wanna wear.
There was also a microwave and 1 mini bar and 1 mini fridge. The sink outside has a stool for you to sit. And best of all is the Japanese toilet with the bidet that cleans you and also cleans itself.
Location wise: the hotel is close to Higashi-Shinjuku station. Around 10-13 minutes walk from the Shinjuku main station. I’m in love with Tokyo and hotel J-Mex is one of the reasons why
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cool hotel/room with friendly and helpful staff. - Greeted by the super friendly manager(who spoke excellent English) and shown to the spacious room(with a kindly offered gift waiting for me). Sauna room was bliss and a something I didn't expect. Housekeeping was superb and leaving/returning hotel was no hassle at all. Near to Golden Gai and Shinjuku/Shin Okubo stations. 5*; absolutely recommended - mainly due to exceptional customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - *****5 STAR HOTEL⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This hotel was a DREAM find!!!
The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, Suzuki gives top-notch customer service! Our room was very clean & organized. We were given gifts along with free water and juices, and the room was supplied with fresh yukata robes daily :D Every room has its own personal sauna & hot tub, and yet the shower set up alone is beyond relaxing (there’s even a t.v. in the shower/hottub if that’s your style)!! When leaving the hotel, you can go any direction and you’ll run into something amazing and worth while, very walkable area day and night! I would definitely recommend, and rebook myself!!!! 5 STARS
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Jake (10/5): Wonderful hotel for couples! - The room was super clean, fresh towels and all you need everyday! perfect location and excellent atmosphere. we will definitely return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Felt very welcomed by hotel staff and Suzuki who spoke good English. Great in-room amenities and clean.
- luke (10/5): Easy access - Fun. Easy. Clean. Funky. Easy place to stay. Very simple access
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room has karaoke, controlled light environment, a Jacuzzi, with a spa steam room. It also provides a lot of free amenities which most hotels charge for.
- Lauren (10/5): Loved it! - We loved our stay at J-Mex! The service was fantastic, the room was so well equipped - in-room karaoke, steam room, spa, foot massagers for rent! The location is great, easy walking distance to great bars and train stations, and the room was so quiet (due to soundproof walls!) we slept fantastically.
- Gerard (10/5): Huge rooms with an interesting feel - great hotel - Staff at this hotel are incredible and provide 5 star customer service and really make your stay memorable. Rooms all have a really unique feel but the biggest bonus is the size is so much larger than many other hotels in the area offer. Facilities are excellent but the greatest strength is their awesome customer service. Highly recommend this property.
- Tim (10/5): Better than your first impression - We stayed here as we where having trouble finding “normal” hotels in the area.
When you walk in the lobby you wonder what you’ve gotten into, it fiantly of cigarettes and you check into the hotel via a hole in a glass barricade.
From there though it all gets better, the staff were extremely helpful and they had a few people who spoke fluent English and were happy to help with any requests we had.
The rooms are excellent, far bigger than your typical Tokyo hotels rooms, ours had 2 TVs, a full spa bath and a sauna. There is some adult channels on the tv but also all the normal channels.
When leaving for the day you give your key to the receptionist and they give you a token instead. Bedsides that it all functions as a normal hotel.
Only real negative was we heard our neighbours partaking in adult activities a couple of (short) times. But generally speaking the rooms are very well insulated.
Quite happy to recommend
- Ursula (10/5): More fun than naughty - Well appointed room with a lot of electronic gadgets and fantastic marble bathroom featuring hot tub and separate sauna. Great value for price. Room size and amenities are on a 4 star plus level. Being a "Love Hotel" outdoor windows are covered with inside shutters, but they can be opened. Sound proof with stereo system featuring over 100 channels. No common areas, but room service and possibility to store luggage.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Couples - Very nice staff, my phone was returned to me when i checked out
- Rudy (10/5): Don't let the love hotel label deter you - I travel regularly to Tokyo for business and always find the typical Japanese business hotel a bit too small. J-Mex despite being a love hotel, is very clean. The Manager, Suzuki San, speaks fluent English and is very friendly and helpful. Try to use the Higashi Shinjuku station instead of JR Shinjuku so you don't have to walk through Kabukicho, which admittedly, is a bit on the sleazy side.
- James (8/5): - As long as you know what you're getting into and are cool with it this is actually a great value and an opportunity to score a very comfy room with a lot of neat luxury features in a convenient location for a very moderate price. The touts aren't even that bad - staying in the area for 10 days I only got approached by them like 3 times. If I were to go back to Tokyo I would seriously lean towards just staying here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Hotel I have Ever Stayed At - Upon arriving from our 12 hour flight from the USA, we were greeted by the hotel manager Suzuki. He explained how the hotel operated, walked our bags to our room, and showed us how to use everything in the room. They gave us fresh towels, yukatas, drinks, and mouthwash everyday! The staff was exteremely helpful and nice. Do not shy away because it is a "Love Hotel". I have traveled to many places and stayed in many hotels. This was the best hotel I have stayed at yet. It was worth every penny! It is also close to an Oedo line station which made getting around Tokyo easy. Book a stay here!
- John (10/5): Nice hotel in Shinjuku. - Suzuki( the manager)He speaks english very well.and staff were amazingly kind and helpful. This is a love hotel but it is very clean and well kept. They supply you with everything you can possibly think of daily. Toothpaste, tooth brushes, combs, shampoo, soaps, water bottles (very handy in summer), umbrellas, everything. Even on our last night they gave us champagne and crackers which was very sweet of them. This is a short walk to Shinjuku Train station. Around the corner to the subway. 7-11 is down the street if you need drinks or an ATM. Plus the room is spacious compared to other hotels. It is in Kabukicho which I still felt safe even though it's a redlight district area which I didn't prefer but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I would stay again.
- Keith (10/5): Unexpectedly quirky and good - While presented as an adult hotel and spa, this hotel had everything you need when visiting Tokyo. Located very close to Shinkjuku it provides an excellent base from which to explore.
The staff were extremely attentive, the toiletries and treats in the room were extensive and the spa was great.
Perhaps the only downsides were limited space for baggage and very little clothes hanging.
Overall a great place to stay and we would go again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay! - Amazing room! Reception was initially a little confusing because there is just a window. Mr. Suzuki, the manager, quickly came out of the office to explain the hotel and take us to our rooms. The rooms were absolutely fantastic. Shinjuku station is a 10 minute walk away.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for business travel - Although knowing this was a "love hotel" the idea on a business trip to have great room facilities was well worth it. The staff were excellent, the manager spoke perfect English and helped with the bags, he also took the time to explain the facilities and local area.
I recommend for business travellers although the hotel for us!
- Su (10/5): Nice room for a couple! - Amazing room. The staff were really friendly. All the amenities were top class. We were even give some souvenirs to take back home!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay at Hotel J-Mex - First thing to know is that this is a love hotel and therefore a bit different from normal hotels that people may be more accustom to staying at. Due to this, the person at the counter is hidden behind a barrier and you are given a key to the room that you cannot take with you. Instead, you have to trade it in for a card each time you leave. The Japanese quests are very quite and look like they are being caught in the act (because they are!) when you see them. If you can look past this, however, the hotel is pretty great. It is cool looking, quite, has a great staff (especially Suzuki), and has rather spacious rooms for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Surprisingly good stay in Shinjuku - I booked this hotel without knowing it's a "Love Hotel" and I was a bit worried once I realized but the place is really great.
They have a hot tub and steam room in the room and a private karaoke machine :-)
While Japanese people tend to visit this hotel for a few hours, tourists stay longer.
It's an interesting experience and totally worth it.
- David (10/5): Great love hotel - We had a great stay here the karaoke was great in the room, the room was great, steam room, large jacuzzi, nice bed
- george (10/5): Excellent stay - Service was great, room was as shown. Tho its a love hotel but the entire area is very decent, near subway station and very convenient!
- James (8/5): A great stay. Recommended. - Well worth doing if you're in the area.
- Dave (10/5): The perfect couples retreat hotel - The rooms here are some of the biggest you'll find in Tokyo. This was also the most fun I've ever had in a hotel room. And my partner loved it. She did not want to leave. From the room's built in karaoke and 100+ channel custom radio stations to the hot tub bath and sauna. It was a treat staying here. Room service is very reasonable and available 24 hours. Some of the staff also speaks very good English, just in case your Japanese isn't that great.
The hotel location is a bit away from any train stations so be prepared to walk about 10 minutes any time you want to get somewhere else in the city.
Overall a great stay for special occassions.
