Guest Reviews
- Julius (10/5): - Beautiful surroundings, pet friendly and Candy was a great host
- Diane (10/5): - A quiet bed & breakfast met all our needs.
- Iliana (10/5): - Candy is a fabulous host :) such a sweet woman who always went out of her way to make sure my mom and I had a comfortable stay. I will miss the Apple Blossom Inn!!
- Mykel (10/5): - Candy was an excellent host! The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic!
- Robert (10/5): What a gem - Absolutely fantastic stay. The hostess Candy couldn't do enough for you. Tasty filling breakfasts. Very friendly and helpful. Hot tub overlooking Yosemite valley. Unfortunately she will be closing in November 2025 so if you haven't booked already get a move on otherwise you'll miss an absolute gem of an Inn.
- Theresa (10/5): Hidden gem! - 5 stars across the board! So cozy and there was beautiful nature to walk around in. Our innkeeper Candy was amazing, so fun to talk with. Will definitely be back!
- Edwina (10/5): - We were welcomed very warmly by Candy on arrival. Apple Blossom Inn is charming! Candy and her husband have worked very hard to make a stay here so relaxing. Our room was immaculate, and so comfortable. Candy made breakfast - homemade apple blossom pancakes, and banana nut waffles, with fresh fruits. The gardens are beautiful, with a hot tub, and a lovely terrace to.relax on, under the stars. We would love to stay here again, and cannot recommend Apple Blossom Inn highly enough
Thank you so much, Candy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy, heartwarming and relaxing - This place was very heartwarming and clean, surrounded by nature. We even saw a deer when we first drove into the driveway. The decor was very artistic and Candy was a wonderful hostess, enjoyed her apple blossom pancakes especially.
- May (10/5): - Loved the BNB! Yummy breakfast! Personable host. Spacious place. Feels like airbnb, but with a host to cook breakfast. Hidden gem near yosemite south entrance. Lots of other hiking trails nearby in Oakhurst and Bass Lake.
- Jeffrey (6/5): - Candie the owner was very nice and helpful. The property is old and needs updated. We had wildlife "guests" (pests?) in the bathroom (a spider in the shower and some frogs) and the bed was way too soft and springy.
- sean (10/5): - Excellent host and delicious pancakes for breakfast. Very comfortable sleep. Enjoyed sitting outdoors with mountain views and watching the humming birds buzz around. Check out the Hitching post for dinner and a few drinks
- Li Yu (10/5): - The host is really great!
- ENG CHEONG (8/5): A comfortable stay. - We had a very comfortable stay and host Candy was friendly, the breakfast served was delicious!
- Patrice (10/5): - Had a great stay! Really only downside is just knowing you have a long commute into all the main Yosemite attractions, so just research before going to make sure you're comfortable with the drive!
Candy was fantastic and very responsive. Power went out briefly during our stay and for some reason the generator didn't fully connect with the house power. Called Candy and five minutes later she was there and troubleshooting, and a few minutes later power was back on.
Breakfast was great as well. Two mornings we were able to be there for hot breakfast and had big bowl of fruit (the good stuff too - lots of berries and cantaloupe), and one morning banana walnut waffles, and apple blossom pancakes the other morning - both delicious (though I think my favorite was the waffles!). One morning it was even just us, so it was like having a private chef!
On mornings we weren't around for traditional hot breakfast, we were still really happy to have fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), yogurt cups (yoplait), and individual oatmeal and cream of wheat microwave cups. There was also little individual cereal boxes and milk.
Tea and coffee were available as well, plus little candies that were great after a long hike. An extensive VHS collection with players in room, plus board games, though we didn't end up having time for those.
Also really appreciated having some fridge access and made extensive use of the microwave for quick meals!
- scottdW3821IA (2/5): Worst experience ever - Worst experience ever, I arrived late and they said they don’t have my reservation on their list and all the room are full, just let me find another hotel to stay. And didn’t even give me any alternative option, just said that they want to sleep
- Kaisheng (10/5): - This is a comfy and well maintained B&B Inn. Owner Candy puts in lots of efforts and makes sure all guests feel at home, and it indeed is a very relaxed place after a day's venture at the Yosemite park. The breakfast is fantastic, don't miss it! Thank you Candy and we will be back!
- ShuvraS1 (10/5): AMAZING! - The location of the property is awesome! Candy, the owner’s hospitality is mind blowing! She knows how to keep balance between privacy and engaging her guests! Our 4 nights stay in her property was amazing! I loved the breakfast and she made me PERFECT over-medium fried eggs! We will definitely go back again! Highly recommended B&B in Ahwahnee, CA. Thank you Candy!
- Thomas (8/5): - Wonderful host
Would loved to had an earlier breakfast
- Jill (10/5): - Adorable house set up with country vibe. Candy is a welcoming owner operator. Full breakfast each morning and comfortable accommodations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The best bnb place we’ve ever been!! The owner is very friendly, offered delicious breakfast and apple picking in the orchard on the property. We were absolutely blessed to stay there for a couple of days! We recommend this BnB place!
- Matthew (10/5): - The best bnb place we’ve ever been!! The owner is very friendly, offered delicious breakfast and apple picking in the orchard on the property. We were absolutely blessed to stay there for a couple of days! We recommend this BnB place!
- marcusmaddoc (10/5): A real gem!! - Not easy to find, tucked away in between all the other accomodations in the area, we had the luck to stumble across Apple blossom inn. Not only was it the sweetest little B&B I've ever seen, it is also located in convenient distance to the Yosemite Ntl. Park (1 h drive to Glacier point, 35 minutes to the Wawona hiking area).
The second B in B&B should not be forgotten: Candy the hostess is a very sweet person who is also a great cook. Her homemade waffles taste so great and give you plenty of Energy for the upcoming hiking day!!
If you ever come near this area you should look for the Apple blossom Inn. Sure, you could stay at a chain motel for less but you'd be missing an experience!!
- Baruch (10/5): - This place is an oasis of calm serenity for the weary Yosemite traveler. The hostess so warm and hospital and treats every guest as a member of the family. Truly home from home feel! Only downside and didn’t distract from wonderful stay was that the nearest restaurant was 7-8miles away.
- Peter (8/5): - Very pleasant and homely stay. Candy is a wonderful hostess and place’s attention to detail. Enjoyed our stay.
- albert-jan (10/5): - a cosy home and the friendliest hostess
- Kaushik (10/5): - Homely, Bed and Breakfast Inn, beautifully located if you’re planning to visit Yosemite NP
- Timothy (10/5): - Candy the Inn keeper is first class
- Rudolf (10/5): - Our stay July 2023 was excellent. Candy was an outstanding hostess and the breakfasts were out of this world especially her signature apple blossom pancakes (although the banana walnut waffles were fantastic too)! Property was very clean and extremely comfortable. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
- Chris (10/5): Delicious - Very pleasant host! Accommodations were very comfortable, clean and private. Candy made us a yummy breakfast of cooked apples and pancakes. Would definitely rebook if we were in the area.
- megan (10/5): - I really enjoyed staying at this inn. The breakfast was amazing! Best pancakes and French toast I’ve ever had!! The rooms were very nice and it was a great quiet place to stay for the weekend.
- Wendy (10/5): - This has been our favourite accommodation so far after two weeks on the road from Canada. Loved the relaxing hot tub and beautiful view from the hot tub and deck. The room and beds were comfy. The living room area is relaxing. The breakfast was awesome. The owners are lovely. I would go back there for sure! Accessible to Yosemite too.
- Daniyel (10/5): - It is so convenient because it is 15 minutes away. Shopping centers. It is a beautiful home and your privacy is respected.
- mark (10/5): - Candy is a super host. I would stay at the Apple blossom inn again.
- schmittytravels (10/5): Quaint & Cozy Gem of a B&B Keeps Us Coming Back! - Staying at Apple Blossom Inn is always a pleasant getaway! We have been coming to the Inn since about 2008 while visiting Yosemite or just to get out of the city for a few days and enjoy the peaceful mountain setting. Candy always goes out of her way to accommodate our needs and is a goldmine of helpful info about restaurants and attractions in Yosemite and the surrounding towns.
While a bummer that Covid restrictions were preventing Candy from making hot breakfast for a while, there was always a plethora of continental breakfast options and snacks provided and I'm happy to report that breakfasts are back, baby! Our latest visit had us once again awakening to the smell of apple pancakes and fresh coffee. I, for one, am not a morning person but Candy's vibe is always cheerful without being too much first thing in the morning. Enjoying breakfast and soaking in the morning sun and the view from the patio is always a favored leisure activity and a great way to start the day.
The patio is just as good at night as well! There's plenty of seating for stargazing with a beverage and the hot tub is always clean and hot! Whether we have gone hiking or just sat around reading all day, a soak is always a great way to wind down.
During cooler weather, the fire in the common area wood stove creates a cozy mountain cabin ambience that is perfect for reading, watching one of the available movies, playing a game, etc.
The room we usually stay in is spacious and has a nice little balcony. The bed is comfy and the linens are neat and clean. The bathrooms are also always clean, stocked, and in good working order. What more can you ask for?
All in all, Apple Blossom Inn provides great accommodations at a good value and we can't wait until our next visit!
- John (10/5): - We were lucky and were the only ones there during our stay. It was great. It was clean and they had breakfast food waiting for us in the kitchen. We didn’t use the hot tub, but it looked very inviting.
- Dale (10/5): We’ll be back! - Very neat and clean.
- dan0767 (2/5): Bed, but no breakfast and no service - Our best friends, my wife and I were excited to stay in our first bed and breakfast. This accommodation raved about cooked locally sourced apple meals for breakfast. Also a hot tub overlooking the Valley. You'll find this motel had neither. We ran down the first morning waiting to smell the delicious meal, only to find dry cereal, no made coffee, and very little else. I find out candy is now using the covid "out", to no longer be a breakfast at all. The second day, as we ran out of toilet paper, she did the very strange attempt of lying to us about bringing toilet paper to our room, and replacing milk in the Frig. At that point we decided to leave because she appeared ( on the phone only) unstable!! I'm sure this was a five place once. But it is obviously a sad memory earlier service. Beware!!!! And don't believe her web sight!! Your paying for a motel with no service at all. Whole situation was a bit creepy. The rooms are all left unlocked. So is the house. You will never see a soul. Occasionally you will hear a strange oriental talk coming from the upper floor!..NO REALLY!!!!
- Teresa (10/5): - The property is cute and comfortable in a nice location. Everything you need.
- David (10/5): - Beautiful. Very quiet and peaceful. Owner very helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Apple Blossom Inn is situated in a beautiful orchard, with a view of the Sierra mountains, as described. It was a nice quiet place to rest after long drive and hiking in Yosemite. It is about 30 minutes from the Mariposa entrance to Yosemite. There can be an hour-long wait to get into Yosemite, however.
We were very disappointed at the service and amenities at the Inn. We booked a Bed and Breakfast, expecting a host and a lovely breakfast. The Inn Keeper was absent and all was done via email. There was a huge amount of confusion upon check-in because of this. A family, no fault of their own, had moved into our room. The Inn keeper should be there to greet and show people to their rooms. NO Breakfast prepared! The Inn keeper provided a coffee pot and some sugary instant Kid cereals and oatmeal to self-prepare. There were yogurts in the refrigerator. The Inn Keeper said that this was a Covid precaution, but it was not well publicized and was an unnecessary precaution at this point. No cooking allowed in kitchen-a microwave was allowed.
I would ask questions! I would recommend if you are looking for a quiet respite, but no amenities.
A positive were the outside decks for enjoying a book or a glass of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed the other family in the Inn and enjoyed a night of conversation and refreshments that our group had provided.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The facilities are quite old and the host is horrible.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were a little disappointed that the breakfast was just cereal, fruit, and such. But thankful for the variety! She adjusted well during COVID!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is not a bed and breakfast, it’s a bed in someone’s house with a bathroom across the hall. When we arrived a few minutes early for the 4:00 checkin, the host was not there. We called and she came a few minutes later to tell us which room was ours. She said she had emailed that information to us, but we received no email. We spoke with her for about 5 minutes, and that’s the last time we ever saw her.
The property is quite far from Yosemite, and the nearest restaurant is about 10-15 minutes away. She left a few boxes of cereal in the kitchen along with a couple of nutragrain bars. No coffee. A couple of small bottles of fruit juice.
The property had won awards about 15 years ago, but hadn’t been taken care of or updated since.
There were wildfires In the area, and the air was quite smoky, making it difficult to breathe. Other than mentioning it when we arrived, she provided no further information or updates. We left before our 3 nights were up.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Candy was a great hostess. We arrived early and the room was ready, clean, and very homey.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved how I felt right at home and how cozy this place was.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It has kitchen.....
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Its safe and easy to walk, close to the park
- Victoria (8/5): Lovely, affordable, conveniently located - Apple Blossom Inn is conveniently located to both Bass Lake and Yosemite national park, with great restaurants nearby in Oakhurst. The Inn is lovely. It is somewhat close to the road, Highway 49, but surprisingly the noise did not bother us. It was all part of the rustic adventure for us urbanites.
- MICHAEL (8/5): - This was a great place and quiet. Will be better when covid restriction will be lifted and can use all amenities they have.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint and lovely bed and breakfast. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is in a very beautiful location. Candy is a nice host.
- Frank (8/5): - Beautiful scenery and a wonderful and personal host.
- Leo&Wanda (10/5): - Quite remote place! The hosts Candy is a very pleasant person. Our conversations with her make us feel like old. Very close to Yosemite National Park. The homemade breakfast morning made it special.
- lorriem989 (8/5): Vacation in Yosemite/Apple Blossom - My first comment about the Apple Blossom is that Candy was very welcoming and helpful during my husband’s initial phone contact before we made our reservation and when I emailed her about the amenities at the Inn, she got back with me quickly with complete information. This is always a good sign. We like and appreciate when we can reach out to the owner of the property prior to our stay. She indicated during that conversation that if we got up early to go into the park that she would have breakfast items available to us if we couldn’t be there for her normal for breakfast that is served at 8:30 AM.
The bed and breakfast is tucked away a little off Highway 41 and at night is a little tricky to find until you establish a landmark. We took the scenic route, 49, to the Inn on our arrival day and unfortunately ran a little bit late due to treacherous mountain roads, but we gave Candy an hour notice that we would not be there by 7 PM and she simply asked that we call when we arrived. We were there by 7:15 and she was at the building and came out to greet us as soon as we arrived. We appreciated the personal touch she gave to her guests. She showed us around the Inn and handed us the keys to our room upstairs as well as showed us our private bathroom across the hall. I will say that I did not understand initially that the bathroom would be across the hall but having stayed at bed and breakfasts before where we had a shared bathroom, I was still happy to have our own space. She has nice bath robes in the closet of each room so if you need to travel back-and-forth it’s easy to slip on a robe and not be concerned if you bump into the other guests staying upstairs in the second bedroom. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean when we arrived. I tend to be very particular about neatness and having items in my accommodations that are fairly new and updated but I would say the apple blossom has more of a 1980s feel but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Candy opened the Inn about 15 yrs ago and has run it pretty much on her own. One of the days during our stay there was a power outage that affected the entire county, all the way up to the fancy lodges in Yosemite. I believe her guests were all out and about so no one was inconvenienced, but she was very concerned about getting her rooms turned around for her new check-ins and the fact that guests would not have a/c or water if they returned before power was restored.
On those subjects, water pressure is a bit low and shower heads a bit low and the tub does not drain quickly as stated in other reviews but did not find it a big issue. The air was comfortable in the building but at night you would want to close and lock your bedroom door so there is the option of leaving a small window open with use of ceiling fan or use the room a/c but it was very loud. The one night I turned it on I literally could not get to sleep due to the noise, although my spouse was already asleep and it did not wake him. Newer, quieter units might be my suggestion or better ventilation into the rooms from house unit.
My biggest disappointment was I would like to have sat on the quiet balcony outside our upstair room but it was full of leaves, white chairs were dirty and had spider webs. My suggestion would be to keep up that space for guests who want to sip a glass of wine out there under the stars. Also I would have liked a more comfortable upholstered chair to sit in in the room as ours had a wooden swivel chair that seemed a bit unsafe as I tripped over the leg. But the room was clean and nice. Bed comfortable.
I will say that the first morning we came downstairs, Candy immediately asked if there was anything we needed.
Candy was very diligent to get breakfast started and finished on time and had it displayed on an easy serve-yourself table inside the kitchen. She had coffee going and juice options as well as tea and hot chocolate options. We had a broccoli and cheese quiche which she said she got from a local baker. On the other mornings we got freshly made pancakes and French toast along with a bowl of wonderful fresh fruit of which included blackberries that they pick there on the property. We were slightly disappointed not to get apples from her apple trees on the property but she explained the situation with deer getting to her apple trees. She has beehives also on the property and has been known to serve some of her honey but I did not see any while we were there and then reading prior reviews I see she used to include bacon or sausage with breakfast and we had no meat while we were there but I won’t say that that’s a necessity for me. She did have yogurt and granola out which was a somewhat healthier option although maybe a plain Greek yogurt would be a better option is not so much sugar for those of us that try to avoid it. After breakfast is served, she immediately cleans up the kitchen and leaves her guest in private but there’s always morning conversation in the kitchen with either Candy herself or the other guests. We made friends from both Texas and California while there and met some other guests that were staying from Florida like us. We were able to chat and find common interests and also get advice about what to do in the area or simply what other fun activities the other guess were doing during their stay. I did not speak with anyone who was in anyway unhappy about the accommodations and one of the couples had been there several times over the years as they have family in the area. Because the mornings are fairly comfortable this time of year, instead of serving people inside the living room area we had breakfast out on the deck near the hot tub.
We did see the hot tub, while on that subject and mention from the other couple that I believe they used it but it was kept covered and I do not recall candy offering use of the hot tub to us directly or any instruction on how to use it.
Many people traveling to the inn might be surprised to find out that the TVs at the inn are only for use with VHS movies. Frankly, we did not have time to watch TV as we were out and about enjoying Yosemite so it really did not affect us and there is Wi-Fi there so my suggestion would be have your smart phone or tablet available as you can watch TV on those devices as an alternative.
Candy does supply games and one family had a game of Monopoly going and admitted that that was the first time they’ve had sat down to a board game in a long time and they spend at least two nights playing it in the downstairs living area. So not having a television probably brings families together and what could be bad about that?
If you are the type that likes a hotel room that comes with all the modern amenities then I would say an Inn like this is probably not for you ... but if you like a nice wholesome surrounding (home away from hime feel) and other people to meet and get to know, then this is the perfect spot for you. You definitely get a personal touch here and after you stay here you realize the hard work and commitment the owner has to her inn and guests. Any bad reviews seen on the Inn were likely due to misunderstandings or language issues as we discovered there are many many foreigners that visit that area at this time of the year and it’s understandable just see how there could be a lack of communication or miscommunication. I guarantee if you have any issue once you arrive, Candy will do her best to accommodate you. We enjoyed our stay and I would likely stay again if we go back to that area. I First thought that the rooms were pricier than what we have experienced in the past but then it is California and typically prices are higher there then other parts of the country. Overall, I think anyone staying here would be pleased.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved our stay at the Apple Blossom and Candy was a terrific host. We would definitely stay with her again.
- Denishia (10/5): Amazing Stay! - It was amazing! The owner was awesome. She made breakfast for us both days and it was amazing. Our first bed and breakfast and we will be back!
- Mariano (10/5): Awesome bed and breakfast near Yosemite - Candy is a great host, the area is beautiful and it is very easy to get to Yosemite Valley from there
- Verified traveler (8/5): About 1 hour from Yosemite Valley - This is a beautiful corner of California, close to Yosemite Valley (~1hr).
The property needs some TLC, at least the suite we had. The beds that were advertised as "double" are full-size, not queen, so we were tight. When we came back after the first day out, the beds were not made (is it OK in a B&B? I thought it was not OK, not for the price, anyway). Other than that service was Ok.
- offthebeatenpath21 (10/5): Cozy and quiet - This is a lovely location and home, and the owner is very helpful and accommodating. Our bed was comfortable, and we were able to get a very early breakfast (granola, yogurt, coffee, etc.) so that we could drive to Yosemite park early enough to get parking. The location is quiet, and in the mornings we heard quail and woodpeckers. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening as well--it's got a great view! There are good restaurants in nearby Oakhurst, and a visit to Mariposa Coffee down the road is highly recommended for excellent beans.
My only advice would be to understand that it is a bit of a hike to the park: it takes at least 30 minutes to get to the entrance by Mariposa Grove, and then if you drive to Yosemite Valley from there, it's another hour or so--get there early (8 a.m.) to get a parking spot!
- hmdpa (8/5): A lovely place out in the country - We very much enjoyed our stay at the Apple Blossom Inn. This is a comfortable and quiet place, with a friendly host. The hot tub, with a lovely view out over the valley, is a perfect place to unwind after a day of hiking (or fighting with Yosemite traffic). We would most certainly stay here again on a return trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy and warm stay at Apple Blossom Inn - Weekend trip to Yosemite and Apple Blossom Inn was a joy to return to after a day in the park. Great service, grounds and amenities!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The apple blossom inn was a great find! Friendly staff and very hospitable
- jonathan (10/5): Hotel Stay - Spent 2 nights for recent visit
- Robin (8/5): - Nice "home stay" atmosphere with lots of apple themed decorations. Candy is very helpful and friendly. Because the inn is 1.5+ hours from the Yosemite Valley and further from the Sequoia National Park, you may not find the 9:00 breakfast convenient.
- Julian (10/5): A perfect spot - This was a purely amazing place close to Yosemite
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great stay. Candy, the owner was very friendly and the breakfasts were very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service was superb, cozy country style atmosphere.
The host "Candy" treated us like royalty.
- George (8/5): Apple Blossom very tasty. - Nice B and B with friendly and helpful owner. Breakfasts especially good. Would have enjoyed TV reception.
- bradbX7946FZ (10/5): A Very Enjoyable Experience! - We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the Apple Blossom Inn. Candy was a very gracious hostess and the small B&B was everything we hoped for. The hot tub and beautiful views and proximity to Yosemite were the highlights of our stay. We especially enjoyed visiting with Candy.
- Deborah (10/5): - Wonderful home-away-from-home experience.
- 894camillef (10/5): very sweet hostess and an adorable home - candy is by far the most understanding and accommodating hostess i've ever done business with. her adorable house is well kept and thoroughly themed; she gave us pamphlets and maps to help us enjoy our stay and help out with the long drive into yosemite proper, and kept lamenting that we left too early for her to cook us breakfast.
i got very sick the weekend we were originally supposed to come and she let us reschedule free of charge, and when my little brother accidentally broke one of the fan pulls she refused to take money for repairs, saying it was "just part of b&b maintenance."
the place is very nice, affordable, and homey, and candy's kindness definitely made up for the long drive into the park. she manages the whole place all by herself and does a great job! if you don't mind a bit of a trek into the park, you should definitely consider staying here.
- marshell2016 (8/5): A Special Find - This was an opportune find on short notice and busy vacation season. It was comfortable and relaxing after day trips to Yosemite National Park. The hot breakfasts provided by the owner Candy were delicious! Her stories as a native Californian very interesting and entertaining. Thank you for our time with you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): small town living - Set in the country with a friendly innkeeper who gives you as little or as much interaction as one desires. We met several couples from other countries, including Europe and South America. Breakfasts were excellent. Just don't think of it as a gateway to yosemite. Though the south entrance is only about 20 minutes away, it is another hour beyond that to the valley. The reopening of the Mariposa Grove this June should improve things for those who want to see other parts of the park then the valley.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A quaint out of the way place with home charm. Our hostess went out of her way to accommodate us.
- Jessica (10/5): - Staying at the Apple Blossom was like being at a home away from home! Our host was so sweet, welcomed us like we were family, and she makes the BEST pancakes. I stayed here for a race happening close by, and our host was kind enough to have easy ready to-go breakfasts for all the racers that left around 4-5am!
- Verified traveler (8/5): too far from Yosemite entrances - Took 45 minutes to southern entrance, 1+ to El Capitan, there are many places closer.
- alexandermR9090YX (10/5): Our first stay, during the year of 2006, was so pleasant we have returned numerous times . - We first went the Apple Blossom Inn in 2006. We stayed thier for our Honeymoon. We found our accommodations to be quaint and very clean and comfortable. The country setting was very peaceful. Our hostess, Candy, was very hospitable. In fact, we had a very pleasant surprise awaiting us at the Crab Cake restaurant where we celebrated our honeymoon dinner. Candy had complimented our dinner by pre-paying for our dessert, whatever we wanted. The following morning we awakened to the delicious aroma of the breakfast Candy was preparing. We were served pancakes formed to the shape of apple blossoms, sausage, bacon, fresh strawberries, cantelope, watermelon, grapes and yogurt. We were also served coffee with the choice of apple juice, orange juice or grape juice. Needless to say, we were very satisfied. After a day of exploring the town of Oakhurst and it's many antique and thrift stores as well as the Yosemite Valley, we returned to the Apple Blossom Inn . It was very relaxing to enjoy the hot tub before retiring to a peaceful nights sleep. My wife and I decided then and there that we would return as often as possible. We have done so and we have never been disappointed. Alexander & Florence Montalvo Bethel Island, California
- aviithal (2/5): DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! THIS PERSON IS HORRIBLE!! - I WARN YOU!
Don't ever sleep at this place.
The lady called ''Candy'' isn't so sweet as her name is saying.
We called before c'oclock in the evening the day that we would arrive.
To tell her that we would arrive between 9 and 9:30.
Candy informed us that it was not a problem at all.
Because her B&B is located in the middle of nowhere and there were no signs at all we had a hard time finding it.
We arrived 9:45 that evening. (15 minutes later!)
There was no one there and she left a note that we had to call her.
When I called her she was REALLY mad and she was extremely rude.
Calling us things and saying that we did what we wanted to make her awake.
She hang up in my ear.
3 minutes later I hear someone curing loudly and out of a sudden she was standing right in front of us.
She was MAD and looked very aggresive towards us and while she was speaking to us she was shouting like we were sort of animals.
Me and my boyfriend were honestly afraid of her.
Finally she left.
And we only slept for 3 hours because we were so afraid and felt so uncomfortable.
The next morning Candy was nowhere to be found.
No apologies. Nothing at all!
We went to Yosemite Park and were there for only 3,5 hours because we had no energy to do hikes and felt really bad about the whole situation.
When we headed home to the B&B Candy didn't even make up the bed or anything.
I gave her a call to talk about the situation and she find it strange that we decided to go to another B&B.
Later she hang up AGAIN in my ear for the second time.
Don't go to this place.
She ruined the last part of our holiday and we will never get this experience back of Yosemite.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pleasant place. Very quiet and peaceful. Not close to excellent restaurants if that is your thing.
- Brian (8/5): Yosemite, Mariposa, and Oakhurst - Cozy place to rest if staying in this area. Several miles from town, so it is nice and quiet. Breakfast is delicious and the view of the mountains and trees is very peaceful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - On the downside, the description says there’s is TV/VCR which leads one to believe you can at least watch the news. The only TV is what is watched on the VCR. The owner should delete the TV info, it’s misleading
- Ray (6/5): Comfortable B&B - Apple Inn is a comfortable b&b.
we decided to stay here due to its proximity to Yosemite. Unfortunately there were bad wild fires in the area. There were many road closures which made travel to the park longer.
Also there was bad smoke through out the area.
Our room was comfortable, but does not have air conditioning.
Breakfast is served at 08:30, so if you want to start earlier than this, a self serve is available.
- ABourne_11 (8/5): Good value b&b close to Mariposa with excellent wifi - I enjoyed my B&B stay at her large 2 bedroom carriage house (Suite). This is a 2 bedroom with one bathroom house. It is a standalone cottage and it is pet friendly ($20). Because of its size you can bring additional guests for $20 each additional person. The 2 rooms are upstairs, so it is not wheelchair accessible. The carriage house (suite) also does not have a separate living room, This was fine for me because I could get away from the kids and sit instead in the living room at the main house where the rest of the rooms are. Overall, the B&B is a great value. The host Candy serves an excellent breakfast of quiche, pancakes or french toast at 8.30 AM each day and there are also continental options like yogurt or fruit and coffee that are available anytime in her kitchen. She also has a bowl with candy in her living room and cookies that are constantly replenished. There is free parking and a lovely deck outside where you can watch the hills. There is also a jacuzzi tub on the deck where you can drink a glass of wine in the afternoon or have your morning coffee. We bought some wine at a nearby store and chilled it in the fridge, then drank it outside. During our stay we tried the pancakes and french toast which were amazing! and her pancake recipe was showcased in a magazine, which she has in the living room for customers to see. I would suggest a few things to make this even better. It would be great to have a selection of kid friendly cereals and toast and jam for families traveling with children. It would also be great to have a large 5 gallon jug of purified water so guests could get water anytime.
The wi-fi is EXCELLENT. We connected several devices and used Facetime and watched Youtube and the streaming speed was great both at the main house and at the suite. The rooms were fairly spacious and each one had a "desk"which was located right in front of the AC by the window, so the desk location was not ideal during the summer when the AC is on. Also, it was very hot outside (90s) and in the Suite, the AC was not cooling very well. I would suggest installing central AC or updating the AC units to larger ones for better cooling. The linens and towels were very clean and there were extra towels inside the armoires in each bedroom. One thing to note is that the B&B DOES NOT have daily maid service, but you can get extra toilet paper and other things by asking the host. It was overall a very good stay and good value for the area, especially if you can partake of her cooked breakfast at 8.30 AM (instead of the continental option available anytime) because she is a very good cook.
- Elena (8/5): - Charming!!!!Very clean and accommodating. Nice breakfast!
- Wai (10/5): Awesome place to take a break - just an awesome place. breakfast in the yard. It is just the kind of break that I need. It is pretty far away from Yosemite Valley but this place is just awesome. Staffs are so friendly.
- Mita (8/5): Nice and comfortable inn - We stayed 3 nights and it was a nice stay for us.
- Paula (8/5): Blossoming good - Candy is a great host and nothing is too much trouble - a real home from home
- Peter (6/5): Convenient to Yosemite - Apple Inn is approx 1 hour and 20 minutes from Yosemite South Entrance....the Valley is another hour. Kings Canyon is 2 hours and worth the trip. Stay closer if you can but if not this is an alternative
- lorna (10/5): Quint beautiful private cottage fell like home - Quint bed and breakfast worth the price we stayed 2 nights this area is near the town around five miles where u can eat at local restaurants and known fast food restaurants if on budget
Candy the owner is very accomodating she cooks the breakfast daily from her own homemade recipes
We stayed in Carriage house the back cottage from the main house this is perfect , it is very private for family . We did not expect our 5 year old grandson to dropped off to us me and the parents of my son inlaw Planned to book in Tenaya logde At fish camp to be with our children a few miles from apple blossom but the lodge was fully booked so I found this place which is nearby tenaya . My daughter and husband were part of wedding ceremony at tenaya lodge and brought us together for sight seing and watch our grandson for the day my grandson endeed up sleeping with us in apple blossom
Candy accomodated my grandson the unexpected additional guest including her delish apple blossom pancake very sweet of her to be that accomodating , not only her place we felt at home in that quint cottage being very private like home with private bathroom
The kitchen which is in main house allows us to gethot water and warm some food as she left us with key to the main house too
The private cottage made us fell at home with our grandson being loud we fell we did not disturbed other occupants in the main house
The yard and aplle orchard is beautiful refreshing to hang out infront of the the cottage .
- Ted (10/5): Close to Yosemite minus the crowd - Candi takes exceptional care of you at her Inn. We felt like we were staying with someone we've known for a long time. The level of comfort here is awesome. Beautiful acreage surrounded by wildlife and oh so quiet.
- mnniemags (8/5): Very nice stay - Comfortable 2 bedroom in carriage house, convenient to Yosemite south entrance; good choice of restaurants in nearby Fish Camp or Oakhurst. Innkeeper is wonderful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 2 night at Yosemite B&B - Great B&B close to Yosemite and Candy made our stay wonderful!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy Bed and Breakfast - It was great, a little far from Yosemite, but overall a great place.
- michael (10/5): Wonderful country home, great hostess, yosemite! - Quiet and comfy little cottage. We stayed in the Granny Smith room because it has a window bed for our toddler, very comfy little room right above the fireplace and a private balcony overlooking a small apple orchard. Lots of places to eat and visit nearby, it was our jumping off point to Yosemite and was a perfect location, near the 41 entrance with 2 more to the north just a little further away.
2 minor dings, while bathroom is private, you have to walk across a hall shared with other upstairs bedroom to access, and stand up shower should have a door, as the curtain rubs on you entire time. Bed felt a little small and worn, but I am a heavy large guy with a high end bed at home, my wife and child had no issues.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed in the main house bottom floor room. The room and bathroom were very clean. The King size bed was very comfortable. It was a very nice area and an enjoyable experience.

- reesfamily2015 (8/5): A sweet bed and breakfast on the edge of Yosemite - It is quite difficult to review Apple Blossom Inn since there are so many good things about it but a few negatives that need to be said. The hostess, Candy Apple, is a wonderful person with enough stories to keep you up 'till late. The rooms (two over the garages for us) are roomy although one bathroom for both rooms is insufficient, already commented on by others. Also, the stains on the fitted carpets in the bedrooms and the kitchen are not pleasant to look on but, in keeping with the style of the houses, could be solved by removing the carpets and having Persian rugs on traditional wooden floors. Having said that the bed linen, towels etc are squeaky clean as is the 'open all hours' kitchen in which guest can make coffee/tea at any time, take cold drinks from the fridge and munch on cookies or fresh fruit. Breakfast is excellent and although offered a little late in the day for those wanting an early start for the park - also commented on by others it is possible to help yourself to hot & cold drinks, yoghourts, fruit etc as early as you like. If you have not been able to find rooms inside the park which are usually booked 6 months or more in advance and you can manage the early start necessary to get to places such as Glacier point or Yosemite Village, Apple Blossom Inn is a good although a somewhat expensive option.
- BUFFALOSHUFFLE (6/5): Yosemite trip - Lovely spot... Comfy bed with very nice linens...a bit too far for traveling back & forth to Yosemite. Breakfasts too late to maximize time in Park. Very warm room with old & noisy window AC. Too much black dirt on top of ceiling fan to turn on . Drought causing dead plants in window boxes......why not remove?? Dead plants on deck.... why not remove??Place could use a little more upkeep. Fun hostess though..
- Kikeda4321 (10/5): What a wonderful place to stay! - Apple Blossom Inn is simply a wonderful place to relax and bask in the caretaking of a wondeful hostess, and enjoy the magnificent surroundings.
The Inn is absolutely charming. Beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. The location is both scenic and serene. The amenities are top notch as is the delicious, hot breakfast, cereal, fruit, and yogurt available every morning.
Candy is a wonderful caretaker. We were in great hands with every need either anticipated or attended to. She is warm, cheerful, and turns a superb griddle.
We visited Apple Blossom while visiting Yosemite. The inn is an easy shot to the South Gate. The trip takes you through the town of Oakhurst in case you need to grab any supplies.
We hope to get back here soon!
- FLTBob (6/5): Yosemite Virgins - just be aware - The Apple Blossom Inn is indeed a cozy B&B run by a friendly and helpful innkeeper who cooks a great breakfast.
With that said, here's why the Apple Blossom Inn only gets three stars in our review.
We stayed here as our base camp for our first ever visit to Yosemite. Here's the first thing you need to know if you're staying here. You are at least a 90 minute drive from the valley floor - the heart of Yosemite National Park. That means if you're staying here to visit the park, plan on three hours round trip each day.
We booked the two rooms that are above the garage - nice rooms with a small bathroom that we shared. That was the first issue. Four adults sharing a bathroom meant we needed about an hour for the four of us to get ready in the morning. And if your neighbor is taking a shower, you'd better hope you don't need to use the toilet!
And finally, breakfast. Candy usually serves breakfast at 8:30.or 9:00. So, if you're having breakfast there, you won't start your journey to the park until 9:00 or 9:30 - meaning you won't arrive at the valley floor until 10:30 or 11:00. If you are interested in getting an early start on your day in the park, you'll miss breakfast.
- AnnieGail (10/5): 10 year anniversary - My husband and I have stayed at the Apple Blossom Inn before...beautiful and scenic. This time we stayed four days and had a wonderful time. Candy, our hostess, is one of the nicest, sweetest people you will meet. She makes you feel right at home. Her breakfast that she makes is so yummy. Our room was the'Red Delicious' room. Very cozy and comfortable. Yosemite National Park is close by which is a must see. When we are in California again, we will stay at the Apple Blossom Inn.
Thank-you Candy for making our stay so memorable.
Gail & Michael
