Guest Reviews
- Jenny (10/5): Wonderful BNB - This is an extremely lovely bed and breakfast. We had the room with the courtyard view. It was a suite size! Unusual for Europe. The hostess is so friendly and helpful. She also make delicious chocolate cake. The location in the city is perfect! Walkable to everything including the train station.
- Stuart (10/5): Very friendly hostess. Great location. - This is an old school B and B; 4 guest rooms set in a 16th century building that had been a smithery. The hostess Valerie couldn't have been nicer, little customized breakfast when you want. Plus the location is amazing...almost all of the bars and restaurants in Bayeux are located along Rue St Jean, and this place is right at the east end of it. Also, if you're going on a Normandy tour, the tours tend to leave from the Place de Quebec just a couple hundred meters away.
- Daniel (10/5): 3 days in Bayeux! - Our hostess was very attentive. The rooms are at the rear of a private entrance so it's very quiet.
The location is at the heart of the restaurant district I counted 8 sidewalk cafes within a few blocks.
It is slso in the heart of the historic town. Within easy walking distance of Everything! Also within 3 blocks of the meeting point of Dozens of tours.
We really enjoyed this spot and our accommodations.
- Paul (10/5): - Great location near old Bayeux, with lots of restaurants and cafes and shops just outside. Rooms around a lovely courtyard. Breakfast was great! One morning crepes, one morning homemade cake. The homemade yogurt was wonderful. Great way to start your stay in Bayeux.
- Pam (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. The location was perfect—a great spot to see the D-Day beaches and take trips to Mount Saint Michel, Saint-Malo, and Falaise. Our room was lovely, breakfast was excellent, and we felt welcome and very comfortable. It was a very charming place, exactly what we needed. Wewould very much recommend it.
- Gillian (10/5): - The hostess of this establishment did everything to make sure we were comfortable, including lending me weather appropriate clothing. The location was so good. I loved this little place so much.
- Sharon (10/5): - This place is right on the main street in Bayeux. You can walk to the museums and the tapestry easily. Parking is free on side streets, just a bit tight, particularly now in this busy tourist season.
- Mary (10/5): - We loved staying here. The historic building is charming and comfortable. Valérie had a lovely French breakfast for us each day. She gave us several excellent suggestions during our 4 night stay. It was an easy walk from the train station. We would stay here again.
- Anthony (10/5): - Great location! Valerie was very helpful and very knowledgeable of the area! I stayed here in October 2023 during my visit to the Normandy beaches - very convenient. Also, a perfect spot within the beautiful city of Bayeux!
- Mark (10/5): Delightful B&B - Cute and well maintained B&B. Valerie the owner was delightful. Breakfast was great and included homemade jams, yogurt, crepes, baguette, fresh juices and more. A few mosquito bites due to open window for cooling during sleep.
- Amal (10/5): Great hosts - Great to stay and The proprietors of the hotel were very generous and kind making sure I had everything I needed but please note, the Internet is not very strong in the city itself and I had trouble accessing Wi-Fi in general
- Jane (2/5): - The room smelled so badly of sewage that I had to go buy a can of air freshener. The entire place was filthy and full of bugs as there were no screens on the windows. There was no housekeeping service. the towels weren’t changed for days until I asked for dry ones. The decor and was nonexistent and consisted of random pieces of furniture and treacherous straw area rugs. Those rugs that weren’t straw were made of woven plastic. The “closet” consisted of two hooks on the wall and the “dresser” was two unfinished planks hanging crookedly from rope on the wall. The shower flooded the bathroom floor ever time it was used. And oh my the entrance way…if it could even be considered that
- Sharon (10/5): - We had a comfortable stay at this convenient location close to everything including the meeting point for guided excursions. Our host Valerie was the best: she is friendly, helpful, responsive, and a great chef/cook. Her breakfasts were just the thing to start the day in Bayeux. Thank you, Valerie, for making our stay so pleasant.
- Steven (10/5): Great stay in great location - Valerie is a charming host and her home made breakfasrs a real authentic treat.
Waking up to the smells from the bakery door is a real pleasure. Great location doors from the restricted parking zones.
Comfortable rooms off a quiet back cortyard.
No hesitation to recommend!
- Linda (10/5): Terrific B&B in the heart of Bayeux - This is a charming bed and breakfast located in the heart of Bayeux. The host Valerie is a lovely woman who takes great care of her guests and makes terrific fresh breakfasts. It is very quiet which makes for great sleeping. All the sites in town are within walking distance and there are plenty of great places to eat. This is a good location if you plan to visit D-Day sites or to just enjoy the countryside. I highly recommend staying here!
- James (10/5): - We had a wonderful. Owner was gracious and kind and the breakfasts were delicious. Very convenient location for D-Day tourists. Place was very clean and quiet
- Gwen (10/5): - Valerie joined us with her coffee at breakfast, chatted and recommended restaurants and sites. The location was perfect; a short walk to everything in town, and in better weather the courtyard would have been lovely.
- Karl (10/5): - This a convenient place to stay in Bayeaux, and the host was so friendly. Her breakfasts were tasty: have the homemade yogurt if it’s available. Nearby, you have a choice of several good restaurants (reservations recommended), and the tapestry and D-Day museums are walkable. Try not to drive once you’re back in town, and find your street parking within a few blocks.
- Angela (10/5): Lovely place to stay in Bayeux - We loved our stay at this lovely b&b in Bayeux. The hostess/owner Valerie is very friendly and welcoming. The location is superb. It is right on one of the main streets in the historic area yet the rooms are very quiet and serene looking onto the inner courtyard. We enjoyed the breakfasts and liked being able to easily walk to the sights. There are several free parking lots a few blocks away. Highly recommend this wonderful lodging for your stay in Bayeux.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent! - Loved our stay. Our host was very kind and gracious, greeting us at check-in and showing us to our room. The room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Restaurants and attractions are a short walking distance away. We hope to return to Bayeux someday, and we'll definitely stay at Louis de Saint-Jean again.
- Suanne (10/5): Perfect location in Bayeaux - Lovely stay in Bayeaux. Our hostess Valerie was wonderful. She gave us great tips on things to do. Breakfast was amazing with much prepared homemade by Valerie. Definitely recommend
- laurie (10/5): Charming - This place was absolutely charming. And wonderful location.
- Patricia (10/5): - Excellent, friendly and helpful host. Central location making it easy to explore such a beautiful city. Multiple excellent restaurants very nearby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I really appreciated the owner and her family, who were all very welcoming, friendly and pleasant. Location was also excellent, close to both the center of Bayeux and the train station.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Warm welcome on arrival. Conveniently situated. Good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Bayeux, Normandy. - We loved our stay here! Valerie is the perfect hostess, so helpful for nearby activities and restaurants, so welcoming. The Bed and Breakfast is very close to activites, located right in the center of town, very close to the Cathedral and museums in town. The breakfast is very nice, with homemade items and a nice comfortable breakfast room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely stay. Our main floor room was super comfortable with a little seating area, a large bathroom and a spacious shower. We were invited to use the outdoor patio area and the breakfast room at any time. Check in and check out accomodated our arrival and departure time
A delightful property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location is near many, many nice restaurants as well as a friendly pub two doors down. Further down the street is a Carrefour City market with a cash machine. Location could not be better.
- Karen (10/5): A Wonderful Stay at Logis de Saint-Jean - Absolutely loved our stay at Logis de Saint-Jean. My daughter and I stayed 3 nights while exploring Normandy area. The owner is the sweetest lady; she helped us with recommendations on places to eat and showed us how to get around, what to see in Bayeux, etc. Her breakfasts were homemade by her and different every morning. All so delicious. Our room was so quaint, comfortable, clean, and overlooked the courtyard. It's a very small place, so it was always quiet. Not a hotel or chain - it has character! We were sad to leave, but will definitely return here!!
- Patricia (10/5): - The host was fabulous and the room on the first floor was very quaint and quiet. Breakfast was wonderful with homemade goods. The only drawback was that the wi-fi was spotty. other than that, you couldn't beat the location and the hospitality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Valerie was gracious & accommodating rooms were delightful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice owner and charming place overall. We also enjoyed spending time with the cat!
- Beverly (10/5): - My daughter and I stayed here for a few days and loved it! Fantastic location. Just a 10 to 15 minute walk from train station, and very close to tapestry, shops, and restaurants. A patisserie right next door! Very comfortable room, wonderful hot shower with great water pressure, and delicious breakfasts! The owners were on vacation so our awesome hosts were Claret (the owner’s mother) and Emmanuelle (a family friend). They made us feel welcome and right at home! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it if you are planning a trip to Bayeux!
- Jillian (8/5): Friendly and historic - very convenient location close to center of town, Tapestry, Cathedral etc. Lots of good restaurants etc close by.
- Andre (8/5): - Parking was a little tough due to construction, breakfast could be improved with the addition of some protein, such as eggs or cold cuts.. room was very clean , breakfast area nice. Good value stay...
- Kris (10/5): - -10 minute walk from the metro station
-Tour pick-up point, Bayeux Cathedral, Bayeux Tapestry, British Cemetery, and D-Day Museum are all within a ten-minute walk
-Valerie is a great hostess and will help you have a relaxing stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Position very good
Facilities good
Noise from room above
- Bridget (10/5): Excellent! - Excellent visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I can not say enough about the kindness and effort our host put in to make our stay a pleasant experience. I was not sure what to expect but i was more than happy with the outcome. Not if but when i return to the Normandy region i will try to stay here again. The location makes it ideal for the visit, not only for the region but the town of Bayeux as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous location. The owner, Valerie, was a most gracious hostess and ambassador. Lovely, fresh, homemade breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basics are covered. - This a tale of the difference between a B&B and a premium hotel. Though you may think this is an unfair comparison, it is meant to allow future visitors an objective and factual picture of what to expect. First, the location is excellent, you can walk to everything in town. And the owner did her best to make for a pleasant stay. The room was of good size, furnishing seemed a bit dated and while functional were not particularly comfortable. The bed was hard as a rock. There was no closet instead hooks and clothes racks on the wall. The separate toilet space was very small, think airline size. The only way to close the toilet door was to stand next to toilet with your back against the wall and then and only then could the door be closed. Bath towels (2) were on the small size and there was but one hand towel. Stairs to upper floor rooms were located outside and were fairly steep. One room has the bathroom on yet a second level reached by what could be considered a cross between a ladder and stairs. Definitely appropriate for only the fit and agile. Breakfast consisted of a small basket of bread and croissants. Also available was plain yogurt, several homemade breakfast pastries and homemade jam. Coffee and tea was also available. I was not aware of any cappuccino or espresso. In summary, the location was very good, the rooms were clean, and the basic necessities were covered - barely. If you want more than that you need to find a premium hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Valarie was awesome. Spoke English good. The best coffee on my 2 week trip to Spain, England and France!!
- Patricia (8/5): Bed and breakfast - The location is wonderful. Also the shower was excellent and the bed was comfortable.
However the Internet never really worked. And although I mentioned that the first day and complained the next day, the owner got unfriendly and told me I should have mentioned it sooner. Also, hotels.com indicated that you could pay by either credit card or cash, but when we got there the owner insisted on cash only. I showed her the print out from hotels.com and she said that is not what she told them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Logis de Saint-Jean was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. Valerie makes a wonderful homemade breakfast (even the jams and yogurt is homemade!!). It is perfectly located in the center of Bayeux. Would recommend it to all friends and family!
- John (10/5): Great stay - Great location, great apartment and Valerie is a very gracious host.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff pleasant. WiFi sporatic, misunderstanding about billing, accepting credit card was affirmed in earlier email, then cash only on arrival, after card had been charged by booking agency.
- Roger (10/5): - Great place to stay. Very centrally located and close to where the tours leave, good breakfast and wifi is good. Also, my clothes were laundered for a reasonable price while I was on the Normandy Beach tour. Very happy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful location and even better hostess. We loved our stay here! Easy walking distance to great food. The room was very tidy, private, had reliable wifi, and the breakfast included was always delicious. Highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic B&B, great location and comfortable room. Valerie was a great host! I would highly recommend to anyone staying in Bayeux.
- Leslie (10/5): - Valerie and David were devoted hosts. They took time to sit with us at breakfast our first morning and give us information of Bayeux. The room was very comfortable and lovely. Breakfast consisted of French bread, pastries, local cheeses, homemade jams and cakes.
The rooms surround an old stone courtyard. It used to be a blacksmith area originally. We enjoyed our visit and recommend it highly.
- Maureen (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay in Bayeux, and loved this little bread and breakfast. It is a building from the 16th century and was a blacksmith shop at one time. It is quaint and homey. The owner is very friendly and helpful with information about the area. She served an excellent breakfast every morning with local cheeses and homemade delights from the area. Both owners stayed in the breakfast room and talked to their guests. They made you feel at home. I would definitely recommend staying here.
- Tammy (10/5): - Charming, unique bed and breakfast. Breakfast was very good and featured homemade yogurt, and jams with bread and hot choc and coffee. We had our laundry done which was wonderful and a great value. Located right in the middle of this lovely town!
- maureen (10/5): - Location was in heart of town, 10 minute walk from train station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint boutique style hotel or BnB. Host (Valerie) was friendly and made sure we were welcomed and catered to our every need. Rooms are small, but typical for this type of hotel. Room we had was decorated with pink accents, which would have been ok for a female staying in the room but was not as appealing for my husband. Bathroom was good size and clean. Price was great. Would stay here again, but request a different room. Breakfast simple but delicious!
- Victoria (10/5): - Great town, location in the center; good room, great breakfast. Valerie is a great host!
