- Caroline (7/5): Nice environment and house but no heating in the room - The location is fantastic with the view on the Thames and the rowing club activity on the other side of the river. The breakfast room and lobby are warm and welcoming The room had no heating. There was a heating fan trying to help but it was very noisy and the room is big and it did not do the job. A professional hotel or bed and breakfast should at least provide the minimum comfort of heating

- Daniel (5/5): There's nothing wrong with it other than it's over priced for what it is and what it offers vs other hotels on t - The building itself is great. Lovely location. Nicely designed in the comkon areas. Bedrooms standard of finish is poor for the money. Chips in bath and sink. No mixer taps in the sink (antique is cute until it's impractical). They have a perfectly good exercise space on the property which is only available for yoga classes. So it's sitting there temptingly but unavailable to guests. On check in the lady kindle said I could ask someone in the morning if I could use it and it should be ok- but I just don't know who I was supposed to ask in the morning? Breakfast is ok.

Club Room had no arm chairs; no TV; no wardrobe or chest of drawers for clothes; no carpet or rug; no "extras" in bathroom like tissues, sanitary bags, shower caps etc.; no safe; and no advice on booking that buffet breakfast only offered cereals, fruit & toast or croissants. All this for over £450 a night. Avoid!

We have stayed both before (comfy, convenient but run down) and after, this is our second time with the new owners. Now very comfortable and a pleasure to stay. Excellent location for Bray eateries and lovely spot on the river. Garden down to the river is particularly nice on a good day with nice outdoor seating. Perfect all round and well done the young staff.

- Neil (5/5): Great property & location but overall an underwhelming stay - Great location and a lovely building and gardens on the river. The only member of staff we met was vey nice and professional The hotel is marketed as five star but it doesn't have the facilities you would expected in such a venue and should really be described as a B&B. There are no facilities at the hotel to make a longer stay more attractive unless you take part in the wellness actives which didn't seem to be taking place at the weekend. In the absence of a bar advised to get drinks from the local garage shop - 5 Star? The breakfast was very poor with little choice other than croissants and a few strawberries. Despite other reviews complementing the breakfast here on our stay it could be described as non existent.

I do think that having the complimentary tea and coffee in one place on the ground floor is not a great idea, when you are on the second floor and have to negotiate a narrow, steepish, winding staircase to take drinks back to your room.
- Dominique (6/5): Disappointing - I really appreciated the outdoor space of the property, as well as the inviting common areas. The breakfast was limited, which I expected since it was clearly disclosed as a light breakfast, but everything was fresh and tasted great. I booked a junior garden suite, but the room I was given was actually a top-floor attic room with no garden view. The size felt like a deluxe double at best, and certainly not what I expected from a suite. The room also lacked features I would anticipate at this level—there was no reading nook, no dressing area, and there weren’t even charging stations or a socket near the bedside tables. Additionally, getting in and out of the room was a hassle since another door was blocking the door to our room, which made access unnecessarily difficult. The toilet seat was damaged, with chipping wood; the shower area was very small; and there was significant mould around the toilet seat hinges. Overall, my room felt much more like a deluxe double than a suite, which was misleading and disappointing. For the price charged, it was definitely not worth it. We arrived late, so we couldn’t find alternative accommodation and had to stay. We were told we would receive a 20% partial refund. However, this only happened after I contacted Booking.com. It seems this was a Booking.com issue—although the Arts Club messaged them, for some reason they couldn’t process the refund directly. Additionally, I had emailed ahead to request a late check-out and was told it was possible until 1 pm for a £50 fee. I replied that we only needed until 12 noon, which is generally standard, but then, while at the property, received an email denying the request—with exclamation points—which was quite off-putting. This was the first time I experienced such poor customer service. Given that check-in is at 3 pm, a 12 noon check-out is typically standard, which made the response even more disappointing.

- Kirei (9/5): Loved sitting by the river having a drink and watching all the boats and rowers go by! - Beautiful hotel right on the Thames and the perfect location for our visit to The Fat Duck for my 60th Birthday celebration! Room and bathroom were both lovely and spacious. There is no bar in the hotel but they do have an honesty bar system with soft drinks, wine, bubbles, beer and snacks available. The continental breakfast included was lovely. It was one of the heatwave weekends so was rather hot and there is no air-con so the room did feel a bit stuffy. Thankfully fans were supplied which were well used!

I met Helle who was delightful, and very accommodating when I had to make an early departure, ensuring I was fueled up for the day. Great dining options within an easy walk. Wonderful find!

It was extremely hot wearher, the small fan in the room did not really make a lot of difference but it was a nice design. The bathroom needed a place to hang the hand towel.

The water front position is a wonderful place to sit and reflect in the morning, watching the geese and swans on the river. The hotel has a peaceful and calm atmosphere with white decor, gentle music, plants and comfortable seating. The accommodation is comfortable and clean. The shower is powerful although no door or curtain for privacy. We loved the honesty box for snacks and refreshments.

- NINA (6/5): Beautiful old building with character BUT… - The hotel was very charming and our room was lovely. However, our shower did not drain properly therefore we had to keep shutting it off and tapping the drain itself with our foot to get it to drain. The plumbing by the toilet was leaking water also. I had a massage and it was in an unoccupied room which they did not have the heat on. It was freezing! Definitely ruined my experience. The communication between with the staff was pretty good except they never communicated how we need to pay the masseuse (credit card or cash) and we never knew the amount of the massage until we were actually getting our massage. Considering the cost of the room I was not thrilled with our experience.
