- Stephen (10/5): Excellent. Would return easily. Fantastic staff. - Outstanding hotel and outstanding staff. Luxury at an affordable price. I’ve stayed at some other hotels in the same Condé Nast group which are double the price but nowhere near as friendly. There was nothing not to like about the hotel.
- GIULIANO (10/5): Fabulous setting for a luxury break. - Impressive country house with a recently renovated interior. All areas were clean, fresh and inviting. Staff were friendly and professional with a can do attitude. Our suite was very well appointed with warm furnishings. The bar, lounges and dining areas were relaxing with well planned layouts. Dinner and breakfast were both of a high quality with a wide range of options. The drinks menu was comprehensive. Our DB&B deal was fabulous value.

- Wolfgang (10/5): Ein exzellentes Haus - Ein exzellentes Hotel, mehr 5 Sterne als die angegebenen 4 Sterne. Ein sehr schönes Haus, mit einer angenehmen Atmosphäre und sehr freundlichem Personal. Ein sauberes und gut dekoriertes Zimmer. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Es gab zwei Kleinigkeiten, die uns nicht gefallen haben: Zum einen hörte man recht gut die Landstraße, die nicht allzuweit weg ist. Und zum anderen haben wir beim Einchecken eine nicht zutreffende Information über den Preis des Abendessens erhalten (dieses Problem konnten wir aber mit einem Kompromiss lösen).

- Michael (10/5): An extremely enjoyable stay in a stunning hotel with lovely staff and excellent dining. - Stunning hotel in a lovely setting, our suite was very comfortable and well equipped. The gardens are beautiful, and the lounge area and restaurant delightful. If I had to mention anything, the only small issue was the noise from the road which does run close by, and was at times a bit of a nuisance at night.

- Jessica (3/5): - Beautiful building and surrounds, great food Our room had a bad smell when we arrived and despite staff agreeing that there was a smell we were charged £100 to change rooms. This was a 'room change fee' because they had no rooms available at the same price we paid. However the room change fee was more than the price difference for the next room up (I was happy to pay that difference). The rationale was that we had 'used' the first room - which we had not, we'd gone in, opened some windows and come straight back out of the room again. I don't want to blame any staff as I think this was hotel policy but I didn't find the hotel very apologetic or accommodating. I would not stay there again

- Daniel (10/5): Magique ! emprunt d'histoire - lieu extraordinaire, chargé d'histoire en plus pour avoir hébergé de nombreuses fois la Reine Elizabeth. le personnel est tres agréable et digne d'un grand palace. le restaurant sert une cuisine gastronomique. et la tranquilité de la nuit est remarquable une standing de cette qualité aurait mérité un lit super king size (180). nous avons dormi dans la suite, et elle etait magnifique. elle avait la place de tenir un lit super king size.Nous étions à l'etroit dans le lit et ca a gaché un peu la nuit. dommage

- Tom (8/5): We komen zeker terug! - Rustig gelegen in een mooi parkdomein. Zeer lekker ontbijt en diner, zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Op anderhalf uurtje ben je in Londen met de trein, of op 40 minuten in Brighton met de auto. Er zijn (nog) geen laadpalen voor EV's. De "Garden" kamer heeft nog enkel glas, dus je hoort wel wat verkeer.

De setting is echt bijzonder en het gebouw heeft veel charme. Vooral de afstandelijke service en het gebrek aan duidelijke informatie (ontbijt, check-out, diner).

- Martin (8/5): Could be five star with minor changes - Location, buildings ,room , friendly staff Food was a let down , dinner was noticeably less enjoyable than a year ago for our table of four. Breakfast also not particularly impressive, kitchen unable to soft poach eggs despite a specific request on day , crumpets stale/hard. Shower pressure, no room fridge, no airco ( not an issue in spring obviously), no safe in the rooms and finally please up your coffee offering substantially, it outsells tea in the UK .

The food was delicious with excellent choices on the menu for dinner. It was a shame that there was a clothes rail in the lounge. It made it look untidy.

- Lorna (9/5): Wonderful hotel with friendly, helpful staff and delicious food. - The staff were lovely. Great food, both for breakfast and dinner. A very comfortable and spacious suite. I had to phone down on 3 occasions to get the heating put on. Once on, the radiators were very efficient. Unless you book directly with the hotel, you have to pay £40 per person to use the spa facilities at the nearby golf resort.

- Crispin (9/5): Great place to stay and dine - I look forward to returning soon! - A lovely 'country house' style hotel with excellent food,a decent wine list and staff striking just the right note between being efficient but not unnecessarily attentive or intrusive. We had a lovely spacious room, checking in and out was straightforward and parking plentiful. Nice quiet location but not lacking atmosphere - really enjoyed it. The bathroom water could have been a bit warmer. A bit stingy with the cheese ( what I had was excellent but it was not plentiful).
- Alison (9/5): Beautiful hotel with excellent restaurant and service - The hotel is in a beautiful, well maintained Victorian Gothic building, which was a pleasure to stay in. Our junior suite (Sussex) was huge, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was really excellent - all courses of our dinner were superb and perfect eggs benedict for breakfast. No complaints really, although our room was a bit hot and stuffy even with the windows open. A breakfast buffet might have been nice but the breakfast options were very good so it wasn't a problem.

ALSO WE WERE NOT TOLD THERE WAS A STEEP SET OF STAIRS TO OUR ROOM, WITH A ROPE HANDRAIL.

- Sabrina (3/5): Wo sind die 4 Sterne? - Außer dem äußeren Erscheinungsbild leider nichts Abgelegen, fussläufig ist nichts erreichbar. Wohl eher ein Rentnerparadies - vor langer Zeit bestimmt ein tolles Hotel was aber mit den Jahren absolut nicht mehr mit einem 4 Sterne Hotel standhalten kann. Außerdem absolut steif und nicht kulant gegenüber seinen Kunden. Krankheitsbedingt mussten wir vorzeitig abreisen und das Hotel hat uns den Preis nicht erstattet, das ist absolut inakzeptabel. Zimmer waren zwar tipptopp aber außerhalb der Zimmer schaut man besser nicht genau hin- Staub und Spinnweben…

- sylvia (9/5): - Regular customer just love huge rooms service all fabulous I think the psnist could stay a bit later we had our meal at 8 pm he finishes at 9 am, be nice if we could stay longer

- Gayle (10/5): Fabulous dog-friendly hotel with a great room and fantastic food. - Beautiful location and very friendly, helpful staff. Food was AMAZING and good value for money with a great selection of English wines. And this was a truly dog friendly hotel- not just one that tolerated dogs. It was a tiny bit cold, but great warm duvet so cozy in bed.
- EF000 (7/5): - The building is pretty cool, our room was very clean, the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. The rooms were cold. Given the historic status of the building I expected more authentic interiors and they lacked warmth. The dinner wasn't great and quite overpriced.
- Hayley (9/5): Calm, relaxing and very comfortable - We were welcomed quite late at night with a smile and shown to our room. We woke up in the morning and we're offered a wonderful selection of breakfast, the breakfast lady with short blonde hair was the actual best, so friendly and helpful. Our car unfortunately had a flat tyre and reception wee able to help my wife find someone to come and fix it. The facilities and grounds at the hotel are wonderful and we were treated to morning snow ! Our room was super hot despite the radiator being off.

- Colin (9/5): Incredible staff and very helpful. - Very traditional but still had very modern facilities. Calm atmosphere. Nothing really was amazing. Changed our check in time on Christmas Eve via a email,which threw our plans out for mrs birthday. Other than that was truly amazing.

- Dino (10/5): We had a - We had a fantastic stay in their Tower suite room which had a seperate lounge and was an excellent size. Although the property and location was great it was the staff that really made it special. Guests can use the SPA facilities for free which is located at their sister hotel (which is a 5 min drive away). It’s a nice SPA but the day we were there the pool and jacuzzi both felt cold which was a pity. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent

- Christopher (7/5): - Food and accommodation was good apart from below We stayed in Meyer room. Heating went off around noon and we had to call up reception a couple of times to get it put on. The carpet was rather dirty .
