Guest Reviews
- Giles (10/5): - As required, clean bed and an onsuite bathroom
- sarah (6/5): Not great 😕 - The welcome was very pleasant. The Bar and restaurant area was very clean and well presented. We were shown to our room which was up a flight of steep, narrow stairs. The room was basic which we expected for the cost of the stay. There was a used cotton bud on the floor. We could have told staff about this but decided to just bin it. The bed and mattress were not to our liking, far too soft. The bed creaked very loudly even just from sitting up/ lying down. We were woken up around 7 am by banging of doors ? we thought it was staff and we were a little annoyed . However we then had banging on our door from other guests who said that we were locked in the property. The couple seemed very anxious and told us they had tried to call a number they had to find out how to get out of the hotel. I went downstairs in my pyjamas whilst my husband dressed. All 4 of us could not open the door as it had been locked from the outside. This was an enormous risk to our safety, if there had been a fire. My husband decided to go through the kitchen and out of the fire exit in there to then go around the property and unlocked the door.
All in all we would not stay here again. This review does not reflect the quality of the staff who were friendly and welcoming.
The other couple appeared quite upset.
- Nasar (8/5): - Clean room, comfortable bed.
- Dave (8/5): Overall Good Value for Money - Staff very helpful on arrival and during evening meal in the pub, which was very nice A Good Beer Guide Pub with 3 real ales, in good condition. Overall good value for money. Plenty of parking and in easily accessible area of Yeovil.
- Robert (4/5): - Very Basic. Food adequate. But DID NOT SERVE BREAKFAST. Had to drive some distance into Ueovil Town to find an adequate premises for something to eat
Nor ideal for diabetics who need regular meals
- Alan (8/5): - This is a great little pub. Quite a gem. We booked a room to break our journey to the west. Although constrained by the exiting size of our room, they had worked very hard to equip it with quality fittings to suit current times: excellent queen bed, large TV, fast Fi-Fi, excellent en-suite.
We had a drink in the bar and later had dinner there too. The food was just great!
- Richard (6/5): - The staff were helpful and the evening meal was excellent. The bed was comfortable but the lack of a window was disappointing. I didn’t try the skylight blind as it appears damaged. The huge shower was very good despite the low headroom.
- Glen (10/5): Absolute great place - Brilliant day, lovely/restaurant to eat in , great food and lovely room… very helpful staff and Landlord.
Would 100% return
- Raymond (6/5): - Easy parking
- Steven (8/5): - easy parking
- Paul (6/5): You get what you pay for! - You get what you pay for! Function room under bedroom noisy till 23.00ish.
- Verified traveler (8/5): One night shrt notice stay - Was rather warm and the fan provided, although good, didn't really help ooling things doen.
Room small but comfortable.
Bit noisy here in the front
- Steven (8/5): - Good value
- Neil (8/5): - Clean and comfortable for an overnight stay, it's an older traditional local building so staircases to rooms were a little tight and steep but then I am older and of a larger build, Overall, clean and comfortable accommodation for my overnight stay.
- Carl (8/5): - Free parking was good
- Amanda (10/5): - It was very convenient and the price was cheap.
The staff were friendly and i had everything i needed.
- Kevin (10/5): Nice place easy to find - Arrived in the Bar for a quick check in and a guided tour of how things worked in the room. The room was modern and clean. Large shower which worked correctly. kitchen next door with a big fridge and a carton of fresh proper milk. A kettle was provided in the room. So you only needed to collect your milk when making a brew. Nice outside area for enjoying the evening sun. Large decent private carpark with easy access. Meals in the restaurant area were excellent, and reasonably priced. I believe the kitchen stops serving at around 7.45. So its worth considering that if you are going to arrive late. I arrived on Friday evening. Sunday roasts are available if you visit then. Decent selection on Ales on too. Spar shop a few minutes walk for those items you have forget.
- Darren (10/5): - Nice pub with good food
- Keith (10/5): Enjoyable - Lovely pub. Staff couldn't do enough. Food was great. Rooms really clean and comfy.

Staff were efficient without being that friendly
- Ben (10/5): - The room was great, the food down in the pub was amazing, the staff were all friendly, absolutely brilliant!
- Jane (8/5): - Room was clean and plenty of white towels. Shower was good, bed comfortable. Room abit tired needs decorating, windowsills need attention and curtains were very stained.
- John (8/5): - Good value for money,Peter the owner was very friendly.all staff very friendly
- michael (10/5): - Very comfortable room, easy checkin/out, friendly staff.

- Kirk (8/5): - Lovely pub atmosphere. A classic english pub.
- Mark (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff , no frills but room was really clean and bright
- DAVID (10/5): - All good will stay again
- Simon (8/5): - Great stop over for a private function we had been invited to at the pub
- John (6/5): - The problem was the bedroom at the back smelled of fat so we checked out without staying the second night. Told the manager/ owner who apologised and said he would refund the total amount. Couldn’t say fairer than that but pub was nice and bar staff great
- Darryl (10/5): - Lovely beer garden ample parking and friendly staff
- Katie (8/5): - Really great stay perfect for what we wanted a room to lay our head. Helpful owner. Would stay here again
- Tim (6/5): - I found the room very warm as the bathroom radiator could not be turned off and there was a lot of heat from the pipes in the wardrobe. I could not sleep with the window open as the road was too noisy!
- Robert (10/5): - Great place to stay.
- Lynn (6/5): - Greeted on arrival by the lovely Edith who showed us to our room, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. No facility for a cooked breakfast in the hotel but you do have access to a microwave and a fridge in a little kitchenette area and could book in for an evening meal, would advise that you book ahead as there was a wedding on and they were busy. Stairs up to the bedroom are quite steep and not very wide but it is an old building so not suitable for people with mobility issues. Window from room was out onto a busy roundabout which was quite noisy in the morning as not double glazed and window didn't lock shut and the floor was wonky whuch is a bit quaint (again old building). Overall we enjoyed our stay and were happy with the service and cleanliness.
- Julie (10/5): Great little find! - Absolutely brilliant, was staying due to attending a family party… room was great, lovely comfy bed…
Staff were welcoming and friendly…
Highly recommend x
- Helen (10/5): - Easy check inn. Very clean. Staff were friendly.
Food was very good.
- Phil (10/5): - Wonderful stay at a great hotel. Friendly people awesome food and fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.
- Mark (6/5): - For the cost is very good, there is no breakfast and food wasn’t available in the evening as the pub was quiet, there is a microwave but no utensils so eating out is your best option.
- Mike (10/5): - We was lucky when we stayed for 1 night as a stopover on our way to Cornwall that there was an Elvis tribute on. Staff were friendly. Stayed in a small double room above the pub with ensuite. Just what we needed for a 1 night stopover.
- James (10/5): Good stay - Room was clean and tidy. Good value and quality evening meal. Enjoyed my stay.
- Karen (8/5): - Friendly welcoming hotel with good food. Rooms are clean and comfortable with nice touches like good bath towels, tea pot, fresh milk
- Verified traveler (8/5): One night in Yeovil for football. - Quicksilver Mail is effectively a pub with some guest rooms. My room was simple yet clean and comfortable and fine for a short stay and quiet at rear of property. Good range of drinks and CAMRA good beer entry. Didn’t eat but menu looked good. Accommodation was good value and I would recommend.
- Robert (8/5): - It was a very pleasant stay, everyone was very friendly
- Joseph (10/5): Great as usual - We regularly stay here, good value for money. Above a pub so a drink is in easy reach and the food is good as well.
- John (10/5): - Even thought the building is probably old, the spa e inside was managed very well. The dividing door between the pub section and accommodation section filtered out any noise.
- Julie (8/5): - It was a bit smaller than expected but wonderfully quaint. Very clean and staff was awesome. Will stay there again!
- Robert (8/5): Good value accommodation - Solo traveller in a single room, everything clean and in good condition. Staff helpfull And friendly. Established pub with good food.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Lovely food in the pub and a comfortable bed
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Reasonable room with very good shower and a good price, but access is up a steep narrow staircase, so a bit tricky with a case. Tea and coffee provided but you have to go to a small kitchen across the landing to get milk. Tv is sideways on to the single bed.
- Bhasker (10/5): - It was fine and reasonable
- William (10/5): - Lovely place, will stop here again!
- Kate (8/5): - Clean and tidy dining room excellent bedroom & facilities
Reasonably priced
- Edward (10/5): Excellent Place in Yeovil! - An excellent place to stay in Yeovil with excellent staff, service and food.
Thank you for welcoming me ...I will return!
- coddman (2/5): - The 4'6" bed needs replacing. It was impossible to sleep on it due to the constant creaking of the springs and bedframe every time you moved. The room was in the attic and pretty basic. Never go there again.
- Maddy (8/5): Nice room - A nice single bedroom for the night with a clean bathroom, built in wardrobe and Netflix on the tv. The only drama was the noise. Considering it’s above a busy pub it was quiet, but the neighbours bedrooms are not very sound proofed. The floor boards are rather noisy especially next to the stairs, and all conversations can be heard. A little difficult to sleep whilst listening to late arrivals showering late at night or general walking around.
- Rosemary (10/5): - Lovely welcome, bag carried for me. Excellently shown around and a good nights sleep. Perfect
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Although the room was small it was very clean and tidy.
The staff were polite and great to talk too. I would definitely return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Floor uneven and bed poorly constructed and very noisy, everthing else was clean and tidy with good facilties and staff very friendly
- Stephen (6/5): Nice - The service at the pub was good, staff very friendly, food lovely the room was clean, the bed how ever could do with a new mattress, not very comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Being of restricted movement I found the Hotel very very difficult to negotiate as there were steep borrow stairs every where I needed to go.
The above spoilt my overall view however the party was great
- Philip (8/5): - Good value for money
Right side of town to cycle down to Devon
But close enough to walk into town and get food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - GREAT stay fantastic staff . huge bed and telly , stayed for Sunday lunch and was the best roast I have had in a pub ever ,,WILL BE RETURNING next time i'm in the area
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay with friendly staff. - Great place to stay just outside the town center. prices for food and drinks are cheap. only down side is the lack of a breakfast offering but we where aware of this before going.
