Stella was so quick to respond to any messages we sent and when I say messages I mean simple questions .. there was absolutely nothing to fault with the house . It was comfortable and well designed. The evening sunsets were to die for and the lift was an excellent addition we had not expected. The kitchen was well appointed and overall the house felt spacious yet homely. We would highly recommend… also just a moments walk from the villa was the excellent restaurant Carte Postale which serves amazing food and great cocktails. Also the coffee shop which made the best cafe lattes and beautiful herbal teas and super breakfasts … could want for more 10/10! Would love to return- thank you Stella

Cosy top floor room with comfortable bed & was very quiet during my 4 day stay. Hosts Tim & Ken were excellent, arranged late arrival for me & very informative about local area. Only negative is very small bathroom & shower, but overall a very nice stay in Exeter!

We can't recommend this property enough. The only slight sadness is that the bathrooms are so small (can't be helped) and the main room doesn't serve breakfast. While it is offered in bedrooms, the common room on the ground floor is beautiful and larger, with the perfect table to invite people to greet one another and build community.

- Grahame (10/5): A little gem - The Townhouse is a little gem. This was my first visit to Exeter in years and Ken, Tim and Adrian made me feel so welcome. I had a single room (I’m usually greedy when travelling solo and go for a double I’ll be honest), but it was great. Very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean and tasteful decor. Continental breakfast delivered to the room was excellent. There’s no parking but there is a reasonably priced car park within 5 minutes walk. I hope I will return.

- Signs Express (10/5): Perfect all round, I will be back next month - Decided to stay in Exeter the night before heading to Plymouth Arrived at the Townhouse, able to park directly outside The property is exactly as it states a Townhouse, the garden / pots outside were lovely kept, once I got in I was greeted by a superb gentleman who greeted me by name He had kept me fully informed as I wasn’t too sure what time I would arrive The room given was spacious, great decor and perfect in every manner I asked for recommendations of restaurants Clear directions given This was the perfect place to stay, an enjoyable night all round and I would certainly think about staying there each time before my business trip to Plymouth each month I would highly recommend this ! My only small issue is that I would have liked to open the windows but they had security locks on (to be safe!). Maybe bars on lower windows would allow them to be opened more? There was a fan in the room though.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Well-located, clean, and friendly - The Townhouse Exeter is a beautiful old building located right beside St. David's Church. If you find the sound of church bells ringing to be charming, then you're in luck! The location is perfect for seeing the local sites and for finding restaurants and shopping in a range of price points. Ken and Tim are very friendly and helpful (they do mean it about the check-in times though). We had an excellent stay at the Townhouse Exeter!

- Breay (8/5): - First time in Exeter. The room was very quiet and convenient, close to downtown, within walking distance of several nice restaurants. Parking not provided, so plan to park on the street or a pay lot. Overall a great place to stay if you want to explore Exeter on foot.

- Sandra (10/5): A little gem. - Unfortunately this was only a one night stay, breaking up a journey, but we would have no hesitation in booking again when in Exeter. The room (a much appreciated upgrade) was delightful with everything we needed and a comfortable bed. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly and everything clearly explained including advice on the parking, which we had no problem with. Breakfast was delivered at the time we asked for it and was delicious - great croissants! All-in-all it is obvious this hotel has been very thoughtfully done and we were sorry our stay was so brief.

No food available but plenty of places within easy walking distance. I extended my stay by a night rather than book in the next town I was going to - when the hotel gets it right why risk somewhere else?

However, it will be great if they can think of a solution for overseas guests with luggages if the guest arrived before 3pm. Because we can’t keep our luggages in the property before 3pm.

The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean and in a great location, a short walk from the train station and an easy walk into the town centre. - nick (10/5): one night stop over - i managed to park right outside the property, once entered the accommodation i was greeted by a friendly host . i had a single room on the top floor with my own separate bathroom which was all very clean and comfy. no need to take your own towel as they provided good quality towels. wifi was good even on the top floor. my stay was just one night , i would stay again if i’m in the area again.
- Julia (10/5): Excellent - We stayed here for one night while visiting friends in Exeter. The Townhouse is excellent and Tim is a genial host. Nothing is too much trouble and he recommended somewhere nearby to have dinner, which was also excellent. The house and garden are lovely - comfortable and tastefully furnished, while every detail has been thought about. The breakfast comes to your room in an insulated bag, with everything you need. We had lovely home baked pastries and walnut bread, yogurt with fruit and nuts and fresh coffee. Thank you!
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely stay and yummy breakfast - Lovely little townhouse with friendly staff, but a few niggles. Check in was easy and everything was explained to me for my stay. Comfortable bed and everything you need in one space (hairdryer on request at front desk). There was a fat dead fly on the bureau, though that could have happened after the clean as the window was open. As my single is right by the front door you do get the noise from guests slamming the door shut etc, but it's fine. If you're sensitive to noise, just wear earplugs and that should block it. I would have preferred a slightly larger sink - as a lady trying to wash her face, it was tough not getting water everywhere due to how weeny it was. For a longer stay this may be more frustrating but as I only stayed one night it was something I could cope with. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, there was a good range of options available.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely little hotel in a great location to visit the University and town centre. Due to Covid we only met one very helpful and friendly member of staff, when we arrived. Double room well presented, comfy and clean. Shame that the dining room was still closed (This was not expected); delicious but rather limited breakfast left outside door in a thermal bag: croissant/yoghurt with a range of tasty toppings/cake/fresh coffee/tea and juice. When I pay for B &B, (£7.50 extra for breakfast) I don't want to be setting up and tidying away our breakfast stuff just like at home!!

- Steven (10/5): A Lovely Single Night Stay - Our one night stay was great, we arrived just before Check-in time and were give a warm welcome by Tim as he talked us through the hotel. A lovely clean and bright room was ours for the night, the bathroom while compact gave a refreshing shower and was clean and fresh. Overall a lovely stay and should we find ourselves in Exeter again we wouldn't hesitate in staying again.

Nothing was too much of an ask, weather it was leaving our bikes in your beautiful walled garden, the exceptional suggestions on where to re-fuel our bodies with great food and drink after burning all those calories during our cycling tour of Devon, to asking for a hairdryer "out of hours" :-). Breakfast delivered to room was still amazing it was actually quite nice to have leisurely in the room rather than getting ready to go to the dining room. Very good location, central to most things. We’ll definitely be staying again when we’re next in Exeter.

Felt like a real treat to have a high quality breakfast in bed! They were experimenting with an evening drinks option when we visited. It provided a lovely, chilled end to an evening out, so do support that if you can! Ultimately, lovely place maintaining high standards and finig creative ways to keep their business afloat during challenging Covid times. Highly recommended!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and the welcome I received on arrival was lovely. I had the single room downstairs which was perfect. The room was warm and the bed very comfy. The shampoo and shower gel were good quality and breakfast wonderful. I will definitely stay here next time I visit Exeter.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - My wife and I decided to spend 2 days in Exeter on our way to Cornwall to stay with friends and the Townhouse seemed to fit the bill after reading the reviews. A nice welcome from Ken upon arrival who gave us all the info' about the house and the area and guided us to our off street parking space which was well worth the little extra on the bill. The property is in a very handy location for the city attractions and restaurants with the Cathedral area being about a 10 min' walk away. Our room was a good size and nice and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The ensuite is very small but functional and there are lots of small touches that show that the guys have put plenty of thought into it. Breakfast was good quality and cooked to order and is biased towards a British taste rather than Continental. Veggies and Vegans are well catered for and Ken and Tim put you at ease with their easy manner. Whilst there we walked the 12 mile Green Circle trail and the City Wall trail, both great and leaflets available from the Tourist Info' in the City. If we returned to Exeter we would probably stay with Tim and Ken again as we were very happy with our choice.
