• Michelle (10/5): - Loved the apartment. Heaps of parking and the apt was exceptionally clean. What a view! Had everything you need for a relaxing break away with friends. A shelf in the shower to put your shampoo bottles etc would be great.

• Lyndsey (9/5): A Relaxing Stay :) - We enjoyed our stay on the lake. We were looking for a place away from hustle and bustle to relax so this suited us perfectly. Taupo was a short drive away and was great to visit for food and drinks. Go to Huka Falls nearby (early before it gets too busy). The lights attracts insects from the lake so you need to keep the patio doors closed from dusk. If you don’t you’ll end up with dead bugs inside and then the clean-up crew will come inside in the morning (ants). Rather than use the toxic sprays, we closed the patio doors in the evening, used minimal lights and swept the floor each morning to remove the ants’ food source and this solved the issue.

• Poh Ling (5/5): Beautiful house not meant for summer vacation. - Wonderful sea view from the living area. Full of insects in the night. Not enough ventilation. Hot and stuffy. Could not open any windows as lots of bugs are flying around in the night. In the morning, hundreds of died flies and insects body is found at the balcony floor and stuck to glass panels as well as the front entrance.

• Gary (9/5): Overall a nice place, would stay there again, but communication was lacking. - Beautiful property and location. Clean and comfortable. No one to talk to at the property, or near. Was given a local number for “emergencies”, but I only had internet communications. Sent messages to the property management company(?)and did receive responses after a couple days, from different persons,but they didn’t seem to know who I was, and never got back with solutions.(Door knob fell off of door to garage, garbage disposal did not work,ice maker was jammed, one dining room chair had a staple sticking up through the cushion which ripped a pair of pants, not “emergencies “, just wanted some help.

• Lynette (9/5): Memorable…..would come again and recommend to friends! - Mostly everything. It had the wow factor and was spacious. Decor was very pleasing and views were exceptional. It was quiet and tranquil with birdsong n the trees nearby…. perfect for all the family for my 80th birthday celebration! Only one tiny fault with the shower head in the main bedroom ensuite bathroom…..it didn’t seem to fit the attachment so was difficult to adjust!

Kitchen had all the needed utensils and dining wares. The spacious area is perfect for family get together. It was very helpful to have instructions of appliances usage, sticked by the power switches. We enjoyed our short stay. Will surely go back and will definitely recommend.

• Rebecca (7/5): Beautiful views, shame about the condition of the property - The location of this property is incredible. The size of this property is great, spacious and you can tell it was an absolute luxury home of its era. Unfortunately there is many issues with the property, that should be resolved to elevate this property back to its former glory. The biggest one for us was the cold! There is no suitable heating, the gas fire place has been blocked off, and when we arrived it was 16 degrees. The initial heater left for use was broken, but after contact we located 2 more in the garage. It took over 24 hours to get the home up to a comfortable 19 degrees. The lift is also out of action and while it wasn’t a deal breaker it should be fixed to make it a more comfortable stay. The lights in the stairwell don’t go, cobwebs and moss are all over the outside and the property needs some real TLC. There is mould in the master shower seal and tiles, and ants/midges and cobwebs up high in the kitchen area. The games left in the living area are all rubbish- missing parts or broken and need to be removed from the property and the long list of house ‘rules’ made me sigh at the complexity of the end of stay pack down. The curtains in the master are falling apart. If some money and care are put into this property it would an absolute delight, it’s just not been maintained, and while it wasn’t still suitable and we enjoyed looking at the lake, it’s deteriorating and it’s sad to see.
• Graham (4/5): The lack of heating due to the gas fireplace not working - unpleasant to stay in during winter. - The apartment is spacious and in a good location with great views. Good Wi-Fi. I can only reiterate what others have said, i.e. lack of heating, lights in stairwell not working, condensation on windows all day (unhealthy), thermal curtain in bedroom torn. Lift not working.
• Julie (2/5): COLD - Location is great. COLD! It's time the owners take the feedback seriously and install a heat pump!! It's freezing! 11 degrees when we arrived and took 2 days using all the heaters (two of which don't work) non stop to get to to 18. Lighting isn't great either.

Long way to take suitcases up stairs with corners and you really need to get heating sorted it was freezing. The heaters provided in bedrooms are not great and it was cold. Maybe need to think about heat pumps?

• Manny (8/5): Great location, beautiful apartment, incredible views but property is very cold and no lighting in stairwell- read revie - Great location, the views are just as everyone else has said unbelievable. The apartment is nice, new and modern. It’s situated away from main town which gives the peace and quiet but still only a short drive to town. Beds are comfortable, couches comfortable, good wifi and TV service. Facilities are great in the kitchen with all utensils, bathrooms are big, nice and clean. Plenty of board games for family. The customer service was helpful when contacted. It is a really cold apartment. They have underfloor heating which warms the kitchen but not much else. We found whatever room we were in we were moving the portable heaters around with us. One which didn’t omit much heat. Bring winter pyjamas, socks, jumpers as it’s very cold at night especially in the bedrooms. The lighting in the stairs to get to level 2 does not work. Moving around with shopping, older people was a nightmare trying to get phones out just to see going up stairs. For a penthouse apartment that is priced at this point, I would expect heating to be better and controllable and lightening in stairwells would be working.

The property has stunning views of the lake, nice quiet area away from hustle and bustle of the town. Lockable garage was also available for use and can garage 2 cars Lift installed in property but not able to use. Had to go up few flights of stairs.

Would be good to have these fixed. Had no control of the thermostat to warm the house up as it is locked so we did find night times cold. Having access to the temperature would have been good. However we did love the house and views of the lake

• Sean (7/5): Stunning property that needs to be matched with more modern kit, ie tvs - Stunning modern apartment in a good location about five minutes drive to Taupō centre area. Beautiful views and comfortable furnishings. Great kitchen equipment and lovely beds. For such a modern stunning high end property it really was not matched with stunning high end modern tech, which I like and would expect in such a property. Thanks for communicating about WiFi not working but if I had not already paid for the property before I knew about WiFi then I would have cancelled as this is important to us on vacation but I know it is not for others. We did purchase our own mobile WiFi service for our stay but maybe this is something the owners could do while waiting for a fix. As mentioned in other reviews I would suggest trying to simplify entrance and codes of nine numbers etc.

We stayed with children and found the location perfect for walking them across for swims. Short drive to the town, Lovely and quiet! • Xiaohuan (5/5): Disappointed - The location is good. The view is really good. This luxury property use the floor warmer. Unfortunately it didn’t work on the second day when we stay. The whole place got colder and colder. Although someone send two heater immediately after we send messages to them. But it really helps less. Another big problem is the internet is really really poor. Third issue is the ants. There are lots of living ants and dead ants around the kitchen and living room window. Last is the lift can’t be used. That means if you have luggage you had to move by hands to the second floor by steps. I had to say the staffs are really nice. But the experience is really disappointed.

Dirty cutlery, pans/pots and crockery. Disappointing because we had to wash so much before we could pour our first drink and take in the view and relax… Owners need new cleaners.

• Eric (9/5): Great accommodation! Awesome lake view! Only downside is the bad neighbourhood. - The house is superb! Spacious and very nice lake view! It is clean and comfortable. It's definitely the best house we have stayed in New Zealand. The downstairs neighbour was quite hard to deal with! They accused us of causing a lift jam when the lift was already broken. They were quite aggressive and verbally attacked my wife, threatening us to pay for a technician call out fee. There was no sign in our room saying lift is out of order. So we suggest the host put a sign there if you don't want anyone to press the button. I just feel sorry for the host that this neighbourhood must have picked on fights often with guests.

• Chris (8/5): Loved this place especially the views, outstanding! - The size with the three bedrooms and two bathrooms was fantastic. The location and views were the best part. The garaging was excellent as being able to park our car indoors was so handy. Love the kitchen and spaciousness of the whole place! Not really things I didn’t like as such but it would have been great to have the lift working as I didn’t feel my elderly father could visit due to the stairs. A paint would freshen it up a lot but otherwise it was an awesome place to stay and we would definitely stay there again.

• Anonymous (7/5): It’s a beautiful quiet spot with great views - Beautiful views and layout inside the penthouse. It was beautifully furnished, the views were stunning and one of the quietest spots I’ve ever stayed. Access was a bit more complicated than necessary but I understand why they use a PIN code entry, perhaps a 4 digit one would be better. Not only did you have to have a key fob for access into the building you had to have a 9 digit pin to get into the apartment. I went out once and had left my phone behind, it was lucky that one person had stayed back and let me back in. You can adjust the internal heating of the apartment because it is pre set. It got very hot.

• Ruth (6/5): Pleasant - The positives were that the view was lovely, the apartment was spacious, the kitchen was very well equipped, the location was handy. Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer available. We were aware that the lift wasn't in use and the apartment is on the second floor but I struggled with a weak knee because there wasn't a rail on the staircase. There were glass panels which don't offer the security like a rail would. One bedroom had high windows which let in light, I felt it really needed a blind that could block out the light. The underfloor heating may be lovely mid winter but it was too hot for us and at night in the bedroom was far too hot. The heating controls are locked so we couldn't turn the heating off. The sofa's were not comfortable and there was an ant problem. Many dead ants on the floor when we arrived and we kept having to spray live ones throughout our stay. Due to the heat and not having decent sleeps we wouldn't choose to stay again.

• Kum (10/5): Great stay at Penthouse Lake Taupo. - Great location with a spectacular view of Lake Taupo. The property was very cosy and spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. There was a bit of issue with the water heater as the hot water shower is sufficient only for 3 pax, after which only cold water came out of the showers. The situation remained despite waiting for more than 1 hour for hot water supply to resume.

My whole family was blown away with this steal, the price was affordable and the most gorgeous location. I will 100% be staying here again, and i can’t even find one thing to be negative about! The elevator not being part of the apartment doesn’t even bother me, because everything else was just so amazing. The views, the kitchen. Everything included in the kitchen! including oils and the basics. Even has SKY tv so could watch the women football world cup. Staying here honestly felt like sleeping on dreams, as if i was a hollywood star for 3 days. The key pads add a touch of fancy and the huge windows are amazing. So so so amazing thankyou so much. Nothing to say here. Honestly. I will be back😆
