- Sharon Varens (9/5): - Rating Golf course hotel that offers a place to stay when Metropole is still under renovation. ACs in the rooms don't work well, some of the staff are not friendly
- Sharon Varens (9/5): - I can't rate Metropole but the sister hotel is always great to stay at (Golf course hotel). Metropole is still under renovation Staff are not that friendly, the AC in the room wasn't working.
- Wonderful (6/5): -
- sharifb527 (10/5): My exprience at metropole hotel kampala - The place is well facilitated, organised everything is so wow, customers are well attened to everything is hosputable. I was so assumed by the nature around the place, the trees the kind of freshness arond the place is far best from those i'ave ever been to๐ช๐ช๐ช
- 197musiimentad (10/5): I wish everyone could go and taste it's fantastic features - I really love this hotel and am sure to go back by the end of this month..
It's a very fantastic hotel I have ever found in Kampala ๐๐๐๐
I really feel in love with it๐ฅฐ
This hotel has a good and sounding view with lots of it's brilliant buildings๐
- Shrinivasan (10/5): - Stay was comfortable
- Abu Bakarr (6/5): - The hotel neds some updates, it's very old
- Unsatisfied (2/5): - I I didn't like how a night shift employee checked into my room at 5:30 in the morning while i was at the gym. The employee had no reason to be in my room at that time and he couldn't give me a reason why he was there. Then i call the front desk to report the incident and its the same employee who picked up the phone and assured me that no one was in my room. When the morning supervisor came we reviewed the camera and sure enough that employee was in my room for no apparent reason. I was forced to check out of the hotel prematurely and had to find another secure hotel. I will never go back to that hotel for poor security.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good basic rooms, restaurant. Very good value
- Vianney (2/5): My worse stay in Metrople kampala -feb'2020 - Hotel stay was worse -compare to my previous visits. property is old not maintained well -insuffient lighting in wash room /fused bulbs/ dusty rooms / ineffective air condition in room .. etc etc . ANTS were seen around and also a small RAT that was moving about -reported to the reception-on check out. food and facility average - I do not recommend this property to anyone and will never stay again.
- Echologist (8/5): Central stay in Kampala - Good business hotel with a very friendly staff and central location. I advise to ask for a hotel room facing the golf court rather than the Main Street at the back of the Hotel. The restaurant offers a great choice of local and international food.
- Kevin (8/5): - The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to answer my every request. I think the rooms would be better with carpet rather than bare tile and a pair of house slippers or shoes would make a difference with the bare tiles. Water pressure is good though the shower would do better with a sliding glass door rather than a curtain.
The breakfast is good and has nice variety. A little noisy in the morning due to being next to a major road but it is manageable. Overall I would stay here again.
- 815santoshj (6/5): Good for Business Visit - The location of hotel is good and near to all major businesses. The rooms are big and clean. Staffs are friendly. People can go by walk in the night to near by Clubs & Restaurants. Breakfast is limited to local foods. But no much complaints.Overall I enjoyed staying.
- Charles (2/5): - If you have no better place to stay, then book this hotel.very poor ethics in regards to front desk and management. Booked a fully paid stay for 15 days but due to other obligations had to leave in 5 days, with booking company promising to refund my balance. The hotel management RIPPED me off by refusing to honor the request from Expedia. Again if you have no better place to stay and all the many surrounding hotels are full then make this your choice. For me i will never.
- 443millerm (10/5): Beautiful convenient Hotel with conference facilities - Lovely with Malls, hangouts close by , golfers have a free round on the house at Uganda Golf club & a golf view room if reserved. Love the meals very affordable especially their Breakfast and Evening grill everyday from 6pm
- reebm1024 (2/5): Big Disappointment! - I am a frequent traveller to Uganda but it is my first time to stay in this hotel. This place needs a serious attention to cleanliness. The rooms are not well maintained. Bathroom stinks! Beddings looks dirty. The loud sound of the AC in my room didnt let me sleep the whole night! I arrived late night and had to go for early morning meetings and i didnt have good rest at all. Terrible experience.
One more thing is that the hotel should be a little considerate. I was told I can check out at 2:30pm but since my flight is in the evening, i asked for a later check out around 4:30pm. They didnt agree and said i will be charged extra. I spoke to the Duty Manager and he said the maximum he can allow is 4PM. I didnt feel good arguing for just 30mins so i checked out at 2:30PM. Some consideration sometimes makes a lot of difference, especially if the hotel is not fully booked.
It was a complete disappointment and I dont see myself staying in this hotel again.
- Jaz999 (10/5): Amazing stay with amazing staff! - We travelled to Kampala as a group of 5 and stayed at the Metropole. The staff were so lovely and helpful. A special mention of the manager Ivan Kusemererewa who solved every query we had with a smile. We stayed there for 2 nights & had to return on our way to the airport. He had everything organised and welcome. The food was great & the drinks were a very good price. I fully intend to stay here again on my return. Caroline
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Food from restaurant was excellent especially the Thai and the fish.
Room at the back was noisy with traffic and people talking outside. Ask for rooms in the front.
Adequate gym facility.
Good siting area for a small hotel
- sethnairobi (8/5): good - Hotel in located along busy road in the centre. Make sure you get a room facing the Golf course.
Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Big plus is the check out time is at noon.
Reception staff is not overly fast and friendly but the Bar and breakfast staff is.
Breakfast was good. Large selection of items and omelette station.
For a short stay recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The breakfast spread each morning was excellent, and the food in the restaurant is also excellent.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Both times I have stayed at the hotel, the air conditiong was not working, which made it difficult to sleep
- akeyohas (6/5): Clean rooms, great chef - The rooms were large and clean. There was a great Kenyan Chef who did a really good breakfast and food in general but some of the female staff were terribly rude and clamored to serve the European guests before the Africans. ๐ we had an incident with a bag that was opened. Nothing went missing but it was unsettling all the same. During our stay there, there was some kind of construction going on so sometimes you would come into your room and meet someone on your room balcony. So that wasnโt great. Positives and negatives.
- Raheel (8/5): - Very cooperative staff and rooms are run down a bit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff is extremely friendly and attentive. They made my stay all the better
- Lemdaniel (8/5): Wonderful Customer care and response - As I had some issues to make payment online, I had to contact some Hotels in Kampala to book me a room in advance so that I could pay in cash upon arrival. Metropole Hotel responded swiftly. The management of the Hotel made things easier for me. Thank you.
Up on arrival, I have found everything attractive. The staff are quite friendly right from the porters to the receptionists. The woman at the business center made my stay easy by availing cabs. The waiters/waitresses of the restaurant in the first floor makes their best level to keep one enjoy the services. They are simply awesome. The breakfast was very good.
The room is spacious and all the materials functional.
I strongly recommend the Hotel for someone planning to travel to Kampala.

- l0bster4 (2/5): Worst hotel experience ever - The hotel staff harass guests. No respect for humanity whatsoever.
There were bugs in the rooms. Several incidents of cockroaches on the floor. Also got bitten by unknown bugs in the night while sleeping.
Although this did not happen to me, some guests complained about theft of their property. Theft of things as petty as a pair of trousers! I had to keep all my belongings under lock and key during my stay.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
- dmah617 (8/5): Comfortable Stay - Stayed three nights at the hotel. Service was good. Staff was friendly. Lots of nearby restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was good. Stay on golf view side as it is quieter. I would recommend.
- Rebecca (4/5): Great location, not worth the money - The breakfast is terrible, seems like it was cooked a few days ago as nothing tasted fresh, very few options as well. Hotel staff could be trained in customer service as it seems like none of them wanted to be there. The rooms could also be refurbished.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Breakfast choice was poor
- drpuller (6/5): Good location, - But not much else to get exited about. The decor and lighting is a bit dodgy. The rooms are clean and spacious. AC worked. Previous reports of fast WiFi can not be confirmed. We could hardly send and receive mails in our rooms. Breakfast is decent.
Besides a friendly greeting, the staff was of no help what so ever. Not a bad place, but Iโd probably find something else the next time Iโm in Kampala.
- W7008YGbernardm (6/5): Worth the money - Rooms are clean, staff is very friendly, linen is clean and new. Make sure you ask for a room on the golf course side as the other side are on the road with A LOT of traffic.
Good location if you want quick access to the Regus office at Acacia Mall.
Internet is slow and TV channels in the room are limited - no multi choice channels; except for the soccer.
Breakfast was good with a variety to choose from.
- clove700 (6/5): A good business hotel - This was my first trip to Kampala and I was travelling on business. When you first arrive at the metropole your heart sinks because the reception is very basic. The rooms also are basic. However you should never judge on appearances - the rooms are clean, the bed large and incredibly comfortable, the airconditioning works, there is extremely good wifi and plenty of hot water for the shower. There is a safe in the room and the hotel feels secure My room had a wonderful view out over the golf course and as a result was quiet. The food in the restaurant was simple but good (I didn't try the thai options) but it did take a long time to arrive (cooked to order). The dining room is a little dark but if you ask they will move lamps closer to your table. The breakfast was a little limited and sometimes stocks ran out but the eggs cooked to order were good. I have given the hotel a rating of 3 in order to be consistent with other reviews I have done, mostly in Europe. However I think this is a good basic hotel and I would not hesitate to return should I visit Kampala again.
- olapidot1 (8/5): nice surprise - i usually do not stay in a three star hotel, so was very surprise from the Metropole hotel.
nice friendly staff, nice breakfast, location is in a small and peaceful street close to the center
very good value for money
- hdhdhhsjs (10/5): Fantastic! - Hotel was in a great location. Quiet and had courteous staff as well as fantastic food selection. I would recommend trying the Thai cuisine. Room prices where decent and I also enjoyed the breakfast and there was also free WI-FI.
- JohnS1001 (10/5): Convenient, good location, friendly staff - I have stayed at Metropole many times - it is my go-to when in Kampala. It is very well located near both Kololo and the city centre. The room prices are very reasonable and staff are helpful. It is relatively quiet as well.
- Emma (8/5): - Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff very friendly. One side of the hotel was very noisy because of a bar down the road so request a room on the golf course side for less disturbance.
- billk723 (8/5): A pleasant stay in Kampala - I stayed at the Metropole for three nights during a recent visit to Kampala. The rooms were clean, spacious and had everything you would expect to find in a hotel room. (One of my colleagues told me after our stay that his room did not have a shower curtain.) The complimentary breakfast in the morning offered plenty of options, although it was not uncommon for them to be short of plates, glasses and utensils. But the staff was responsive whenever we asked for something. At one point, when I had trouble with the AC in my room, someone appeared at my door within seconds of me calling the front desk.
The hotel restaurant offered a wide selection, from Thai dishes to Indian to U.S. favorites like burgers and fries. It was good (not great) food that was easy to enjoy with a cold Nile Special while sitting out on the deck overlooking the golf course. (Be sure to ask for a room on the golf course side of the hotel - it's apparently much quieter than the other side.)
The hotel is located within easy walking distance of several restaurants and an indoor shopping mall. One oddity of the hotel was that payment for the room was expected when we checked in, not when we checked out.
- Kate (8/5): Comfortable stay - The recent stay at the Metropole Hotel in Kampala was pleasant. The hotel is generally clean and maintained however it is getting a little shabby. On the other hand the staff could not be faulted. Nothing was too much trouble, every request we had was dealt with efficiently and with graciousness. The room was always clean and fresh and the general areas were also clean. Of special mention is Agatha who organised our daily travel - she went above and beyond to ensure we travelled safely, comfortably and efficiently even in the crazy traffic of Kampala. All the drivers were courteous and helpful with one in particular waiting 2 hours when an appointment overrun.
If you are looking for somewhere where you feel looked after then I would definitely book at The Metropole.
- KathrynD212 (8/5): Comfortable stay... The staff made it a great start - We recently stayed for a week at the Metropole in Kampala. The hotel was comfortable but a little tired in decor. The bed was fantastic, very comfortable and loads of pillows which I love. The staff were amazing, very helpful, friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Agatha, who organised the transport for us each day, was incredible. We felt extremely well looked after and nothing was to much trouble. The individual drivers were careful and considerate. Some waiting up to two hours for us without complaint. We could not have been treated better.
The restaurant was good with a range of food of good sized portions. There was limited options for dessert however and the range of cocktails was limited.
The setting was pleasant with lots of greenery around the hotel. You didn't really know there was a busy road just behind the hotel.
Thankyou for our stay.
- Shiraz (8/5): Good experience. - Hotel was located in a good spot. Overall experience was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. More TV channels would have been nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms on street side are loud. Great staff. Location close to clubs. Good food.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The facilities are sufficient, although do show some wear and tear, though this may add to the experience of your visit. Internet service is slow, but can handle most email needs.
- Pradeep (2/5): 1st time booked hotel from Hotels.com and screwd - Not much issue with hotel but screwed with hotels.com
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic - The hotel is in a pretty convenient location but is very basic and over priced.
