Beach is just few minutes away (with few tavernas). As soon as you drive in you can feel that this place is looked after with love and care. And this is felt in every detail. La camera è spaziosa e pulitissima con un ampio terrazzo.Ogni giorno l' appartamento veniva pulito e sistemato.Anche la piscina è tenuta molto bene con diversi lettini. I letti sono comodi e la cucina è ben attrezzata. C'è un bel filo lungo dove appendere gli asciugamani bagnati. L' ultimo giorno prima della nostra partenza,ci hanno fatto trovare in camera un piccolo regalo che nostro figlio di tre anni ha gradito molto.. Grazie mille!! Nn c'è una presa elettrica nel bagno

• Angela (10/5): - The first point is the steep slope upto the properties from the road, we had read some of the other reviews and it isnt at all bad, as long as you are in first gear its a breeze!! Another negative thing we read was the steps down to the road, if you are on foot, these were not as bad as other reviews say!! Yes they are slightly uneven but not a problem to get up and down them. We stayed in number 6 (a 2 bed villa) and it was clean, well equipped and had lovely sea views!!! The owners were plesant and welcoming and were helpfull with a problem we had with the air con, the main switch had tripped in thd fuse box!! All in all we had a fabulous, relaxed week there and would definitely stay again!!!

• Céline (8/5): Très agréable séjour dans cet établissement que nous recommandons. - Le logement était très agréable pour une famille de 4 personnes. Il était propre et bien placé. Jolie terrasse face à la mer pour manger dehors. La cuisine très bien équipée. À proximité de Agios Nikolaos (15 minutes), Voulisma Beach, et à 40 minutes de Mochlos ( merveilleux petit village) La piscine est agréable et était peu fréquentée. La résidence était très calme. Rien. Mis à part la douche car il est difficile de ne pas « inonder » la salle de bain. Nous aurions apprécié un peu plus d'échange avec la propriétaire.

La posizione è ottima per andare anche a piedi alla spiaggia di Ammoudara, ma con pochi minuti di auto si raggiungono anche Almyros (bellissima) e Voulisma La strada per raggiungere la struttura in auto e i parcheggi che non sono molto grandi

• Le (8/5): Very good - Beachfront villas overlooking the sea 🥰 The villa was spacious and the staff, Maria, was very friendly and welcoming. The pool was a plus for families with kids. Closes to Agios Nikolaos and other sandy beaches. There were a lot of mosquitoes. So bring mosquito repellent.

• Laura (1/5): Aggressive and unpleasant host. - Lovely location with views across the bay, albeit very windy. Pool was good. My partner and I travel to Greece and the Greek islands once or twice a year. I have been visiting for 45 years. I have never experienced anything like the behaviour from the owners of this property. The rooms are cramped and very dated. To shut the door you have to shove the rock-hard beds against the wall. Cramped shower room with smell of sewage, toilet wobbly and unstable. Two lethal 35cm stairs up from the living area to the bedroom. Step into bathroom trip hazard. Dangerous, uneven steps with a very wobbly handrail down to the road and beach. However, we would have overlooked the issues with the accommodation had the hostess not been so unpleasant. We arrived at the arranged time and there was no one there to greet us at 'reception'. Through a door into an adjoining kitchen was a man who ignored me even when I spoke to him in Greek. We waited for about 15 minutes and eventually found a scrap of paper taped to a window with a phone number. We called and some time later the hostess arrived. She treated us like we were an irritation and showed us our accommodation in a brusque manner. Again this didn't particularly worry us, we didn't anticipate having to engage with her very much. However, 5 days in to a 10 night stay we returned to notes in our room telling us not to burn tealights in the glasses. They were our tealight holders! There was a second note telling us not to have the air conditioning on all night. We had paid for the a/c and it was really hot. The following morning we were woken up at 8.15 by her shouting at us from the doorway. She told us to switch off the a/c, told us we were inconsiderate as the a/c was leaking onto the terrace below and said it would be better if we left. She was shaking with rage. At that point we decided to leave. We have had no refund but have received several abusive emails from her. We are waiting for Booking.com to respond. Please read the reviews carefully. We wish we had!
• María (6/5): I would not recommend it. Not an awful experience, though - The views from the swimming pool The furniture is a mixture of old and new elements; the sofa is not comfortable; the lack of a microwave; there is only one wardrobe for the two bedrooms and it is in the living room.

There are couple of decent establishments to have something to eat but if you’d like variety and top quality you have to go to Agios Nikolaus which is 6-7 minutes by car or 20-30 walking. • Gerald (9/5): Happy to come back! - Excellent family place for families. Well taken care of, personal, exceptional location - the beach 250 meters walk - is beautiful. The pool good, Maria a real asset. You have all freedom you want but can always ask for advice. If you look for a cosy place at the sea in a great location but far from mass tourism it is your place. Nice restaurants in walking distance at the beach. That we had to leave after two weeks.

The pool area is great. The pool is clean and big and it was never crowded. It was a great place to chill and relax, with the view over the sea and the mountains. There is a lovely beach just outside the hotel. We had to only walk down the stairs. It was very convenient for days when we didn't want to go anywhere further. For the apartment itself it was a cozy and compact place, but very nice and super clean, with a kitchenette offering everything we might need. And we loved the terrace! With a view over the sea and close to the pool area, it was a great pleasure to have the morning coffee or an evening glass of wine there. It is a place I would absolutely recommend, for both families and couples.

• Peter (9/5): Great family holiday in Agios Nikolaus - Lovely apartment on the outskirts of Agios Nikolaus, close to a beach and tavernas and with its own pool. The apartment is on a hill above the beach so it is quiet despite being close to the amenities. We also loved the pool which is spotlessly clean and the view across the bay. Can’t think of anything.

Owner happy to help with questions, even some free fruits for you to enjoy with the great views. :) Two tavernas and cafe at the beach, also market where you can get the essentials. You can walk to Agios Nikolaos via beach route in about 45min. Bus stop at the beach

Mosquito nets in all windows. The kitchen equipped with things needed for a few-day stay. Proximity to the town and great beaches. Parking lot. Some challenges with the bathroom. Taking a shower resulted in flooding the bathroom floor (plumbing design issues?). Moreover, flushing water device in the toilet could have worked better - we experienced problems to press the button / lever, which had the tendency to get stuck in the lowest position.

The apartment is spacious and gives a Greek feeling in its lovely authentic furniture. Beds are comfortable and kitchen fully equipped. Nothing compares to the cinic view of the sea and the pool. We just loved sitting on balcony over looking the gorgeous view. Pool was fabulous. Amazing Beach in walking distance. Small supermarket snd a few tavernas also in short walking distance. Had marvelous holiday thanks to this great place. Loved everything ❤️

• Anastasiou (5/5): "Sea salt" treatment due to bad plambing!!! - Great view. Very nice pool location The buildings are very old. My apartment and the one next to me had plumbing problems. As a result we didn't bathe for a day and a half. The toilet wasn't available as well. The owner didn't even apologise and just commented "these things happen"!!! Overrated for the asking price!!! Too much overrated!!!! (The problem was fixed the next day by a plumber but still the "salt treatment" was a bit too much)

• Levente (10/5): Everything was just simple perfect,and the host is the most attentive we have ever met. Loved it - We loved everything here. The accomodation was well equipped and clean, the villas were in excellent location with a stunnig view, beautiful and well maintained garden and swimming pool and it is literally 3 minutes walking from the amazing sandy beach with crystal clear water. Special thank for our host who was very attentive during our whole stay. We would be always happy to return here :) There was not a thing we didn't like.
• Luke (10/5): Incredible stay and beautiful property in Ammoudara! - Absolutely best property we stayed in during our 2+ weeks in Crete. We rented the two bedroom villa and were very impressed with the quality of the property, great amenities. The host was very attentive and stays on site at all times. The pool is incredible and perfect for kids. I would highly recommend staying here and enjoying the local beaches. We were not crazy about Ag Nikolaos, but would return to this property in a heartbeat! Plenty to do around the property and avoid the hustle of the big city. Beds were a bit hard as some others have mentioned, but it didn’t really bother us.

Were upgraded to a larger room just for the 2 of us. Plenty of cooking facilities, bath with shower over and tv. Extremely friendly and helpful family. Nothing. The villa is on a hill with either steps or driveway to beach/small resort. Only 2 tavernas and a poorly stocked supermarket in the resort. However there are buses into Agios Nikolaos, taxi for 10E or it's a 45 minute walk.

Wonderful views from the spacious terrace overlooking the pool and bay. Extremely well equipped kitchen. This is a very beautiful place to spend a peaceful vacation. • Chas (10/5): Spacious comfortable villa, super pool & killer view. Wish I could stay longer. - The 2-bedroom villa we stayed in was absolutely fantastic - very spacious, bedroom & dining room overlooking the pool & sea. Location is excellent - 50 meters from the local beach (where there are also restaurants & a minimart) and 7 minutes drive to Voulisma beach. Excellent pool - at least 20m long, very clean, with killer view over the sea - kids loved it.

Le menage fait tous les jours est un plus qu il n y a pas dans les locations d appartement habituellement. La plage de sable accessible par un escalier depuis la résidence est tres agréable et la.proximité d Agios Nikolaos à 5mn en voiture permet de s y rendre souvent. Les proprietaires sont disponibles et a l écoute. Sejour parfait!

• Verified traveler (10/5): Huge villa - walk to beach. - This family-run hotel was in a quiet beach area but was an easy 10 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Aghios Nicholaos. The hard-working owners were always available to answer questions and to offer recommendations. The villa was very spacious and could have comfortably fit 6 people. Rooms were cleaned daily. We ate breakfast every morning on the oversized patio that faced a huge and very clean pool. The pool deck had a tremendous view of the beach and the sea. The owners took obvious pride in their property. WiFi was reliable and consistent. Ammoudara Beach was an easy 2 minute stroll across the road. The beach itself was very clean and calm. The nearby beachside restaurants offered delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. The beach chairs and umbrellas were free if you ordered drinks or food.I would highly recommend the 10-15 minute drive to the traditional mountain village of Kritsa as well as to the nearby town of Istro (quite a few restaurants and cafes as well as a great bakery). Elounda was about 20-25 minutes away. Major supermarkets were 5 minutes away. If you are looking for a hotel that is safe, quiet,spacious, reasonably priced and away from the crazy crowds of the big resort areas I would highly recommend Poppy.

• Amyliss (10/5): Perfect quiet, spacious and friendly villa - Lovely quiet location opposite the beach with a couple of local bars and a short drive to Agios Nikolas. Spacious villa, well looked after and always clean as was the pool area and grounds. Very friendly welcome from the family who own the villas. Always greeted with a smile, very helpful but not intrusive. Would happily return in the future.
• H (8/5): - zweckmässig eingerichtetes, sehr geräumiges Appartment. Die Anlage wird liebevoll gepflegt.
• Laura J. (10/5): Een mooie plek - De Poppy Villas liggen op een heuvel/rots die uitkijkt over de baai van Mirabello, 3 km van Agios Nikolaos met een schitterend uitzicht. De huisjes hebben ditzelfde geweldige uitzicht. Ook is het goed toeven bij het zwembad. (zeer geschikt voor kinderen). Beneden ligt een klein gezellig zandstrand met 2 tavernes en een supermarktje. Tip: ga snorkelen in de hoek bij de rotsen. Daar zitten prachtige vissen (kaakje of brood meenemen om te voeren). De huisjes zijn goed onderhouden en schoon, voorzien van airco (ook in de slaapkamers) met een mooi terras. De keuken is aan de kleine kant, met weinig kookgerei. Wel nieuw, maar de inventaris is meer van de rommelmarkt. Vlakbij ligt Agios Nikolaos. Aan de haven of het meer is het goed toeven. Let op: het archeologisch museum is nog steeds dicht. Wat heel leuk is om te doen: de "onderzeeër" die vanuit de haven vaart. In de buurt kun je ook duiken bij het Mirabello Hotel bij het Crete Underwater Center. Wij hadden ook de oude stad Lato nog willen zien (vlakbij) maar daar is het niet meer van gekomen. Nadeel van Poppy Villas is de drukke kustweg, die je moet oversteken. Als je aankomt let dan op de zeer scherpe bocht om steil naar boven te rijden. De Wifi was prima, de ontvangst van tv-zenders beperkt.
• Karoline (10/5): Koselig familiehotell med basseng - Veldig koselig familiehotell med basseng og gangavstand til en flott strand . Flott utsikt over Middelhavet og kun en kort bussreise inn til Agios Nikolaos. Stor og flott veranda med snorer og tørkemuligheter for badetøy og håndklær. Meget hyggelige og hjelpsomme eiere.

• Monica (10/5): Nice apartment, walking distance to sandy beach - Very nice basic apartment. Small kitchen with all facilities. Big Pool. Quiet area. Very nice owners! Good for families and couples.
• Sue (10/5): Great location near the beach. - Going in October we weren't sure what the weather would be like, but it was superb - warm and sunny, definitely beach weather. The villa was ideally situated, with its own pool but overlooking the sea and a beach within a 2 minute walk. We were able to go into the nearest big town very easily, either by bus, taxi or car, where there was a large choice of restaurants and shops etc, but also there were 2 local tavernas by the beach which was ideal if you didn't fancy going very far. Everyone was very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome.
