The number 1 reason people should stay here though is the amazing wildlife experiences on offer!! We saw so many beautiful animals, birds and fauna a truly wonderful Safari experience that exceeded all our dreams!!
Kerstin (10/5): Tolle Lodges für Game Drives mit super netten Guides - Wir haben insgesamt 4 Nächte in der Lodge verbracht. Das besondere hier ist, dass es sich um eine „unfenced“, also nicht eingezäunte Lodge handelt. Affen und Impalas sind also immer anzutreffen. Teilweise auch Elefanten, war während unseres Aufenthaltes nicht der Fall.Die Unterkünfte sind sehr sauber, die Verpflegung sehr gut, Frühstück wird frisch nach dem Morgen Drive zubereitet und das Abendessen unter offenem Sternenhimmel ist ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die Game Drives morgens und abends. Die Guides Verena, Luan und Klaas haben uns mit soviel Informationen versorgt, sind tolle Wege gefahren und was wir an Tieren alles gesehen haben, war wirklich gigantisch. Und damit meine ich nicht nur die „Big five“, es waren auch soviele kleine Tiere zu sehen, Schlangen und Chameleons, die wir selber nie gesehen hätten. Und von den Lodge Besitzern Andreas und Heike haben wir noch viele Tipps für unsere weitere Reise zur Gardenroute bekommen. Da gibt es wirklich nichts auszusetzen, wenn man von einem „Nachteil“ reden könnte, dann ist es, dass man sich im Dunklen nicht mehr alleine auf der Lodge bewegen darf. Man wird von dann immer von einem der Guides begleitet und „ins Bett“ gebracht, heißt bis zur Unterkunft gebracht und auch morgens zum Game Drive abgeholt. Aber das ist wirklich nur ein Sicherheitsaspekt und keines Falls ein Nachteil.

Aribah (10/5): Baluleni felt like home, but with the wonder of the wild right on our doorstep. - Thanks to Baluleni, we had the most magical days of our lives. During our stay at the reserve, we were lucky enough to see lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and so many beautiful birds. Every member of staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable – even the owners, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special thank you to Janine, who so patiently answered the million and one questions I had before our trip, and who was just as lovely and helpful while we were there. Her warmth made such a difference to our experience. We also met such wonderful people during our stay, which made our time at Baluleni feel even more special. We especially loved our game drives with Sarel and Luan – both so knowledgeable, dedicated to finding the animals, and always making us laugh along the way. Their passion truly brought the bush to life. From start to finish, we felt completely at home at Baluleni. It’s a place full of warmth, care, and unforgettable memories – we cannot wait to return.
Kaya (10/5): - Letterlijk alles was fantastisch aan dit verblijf! De eigenaars, de gidsen, de rest van het persoon, de maaltijden, de kamers… We hadden tijdens het verblijf ook een platte band, maar zij hebben alles voor ons hier rond geregeld (zelf eraf gehaald en gemaakt). Onze auto werd ook gepoetst door hen. Vertrekken naar ergens anders. Het was met pijn in het hart dat we hier moesten vertrekken en het was hierbij heel moeilijk om het volgende verblijf leuk te vinden!

Primeiramente, o guia Luan foi muito prestativo e atencioso durante todos os game drives. Toda a equipe do Lodge é muito atenciosa, e os proprietários são muito atenciosos e simpáticos também. Achamos a comida excelente, assim como as instalações. Foi uma das melhores experiências que tivemos com hospedagem, vale a pena o investimento!

Nicole (10/5): - Die Baluleni Safari Lodge ist einfach nur traumhaft. Großartiges Personal, fantastisches Essen und ein tolles Riverside Chalet machten unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich. Jeden Tag konnten wir Elefantenherden von unserer Terrasse oder dem Pool aus beobachten. Die Game Drives am Morgen und Nachmittag waren spannend und informativ zugleich, und das alles in einer familiären Atmosphäre. Wir kommen wieder!
Tugba (8/5): - Die Betreiber Heike und Andreas sind sehr herzliche Menschen. Das Essen ist hervorragend. Wir hatten tolle Game drives mit sehr engagierten und kompetenten Guide (Tijan). Nur das Chalet am Wasserloch hat uns wegen der vielen Mücken nicht gefallen. Dennoch können wir diese Unterkunft zum ersten Kennenlernen von Tieren und der Safari Erfahrung als auch zum entspannen sehr empfehlen

Martin (10/5): Wonderful lodge, incredible staff, and amazing animals! - Baluleni is an incredible place; the game drives are led by guides who know so much about the animals they are showing you and more importantly where to find them! The staff at the lodge provide you with amazing food and can cater for all dietary needs with no concerns. Between the morning and evening game drive you have time to recharge the batteries, watching impala, kudu, and monkeys in the grassy areas of the lodge, and if you are lucky, elephant and giraffe in the ravine just beyond. The pool is a great place to cool off on those hot days, and the option of a massage should not be passed over......simply incredible! Andreas and Heike are amazing hosts, and the staff will make you feel so special. We were there for 4 nights which felt about right, but could have stayed longer. A place to truly unwind and see the wonders of nature! Given where the lodge is situated, the access to the site is on dirt roads which are a little challenging in places. However we had a VW polo and managed it without problems. Basically, take your time, look out for animals and be careful! This should not put you off going to this lodge, one of the charms is it's location on the middle of the reserve!
Chiara (10/5): Exceptional - Baluleni is completely immersed in the nature, with no fences. The field guides Tian and Klass and the tracker Sarrel (sorry for the spelling) are expert and they always have some facts to teach about animals and trees. The chef is very good and nice, we really liked her braai in the warm boma. The owners are always welcoming and helpful.
Man (9/5): unforgettable experiences - good location without fences, the chalet is just near the river, we've been visited by giraffes and other cute wild-animals. the owner and the staff try their best to make us comfortable, the guide who took us to the safari provided much useful information and explained each animals we've found, thanks to him we were so luck to see three lions eating a giraffe...wow the road into Baluleni is terrible, please drive carefully if self-driving without SUV drinks at dinner are at an additional cost, better to know if could been told in advance
Tatiana (10/5): Amazing! - I strongly recommend this lodge. It was a last-minute booking, but Haike organized everything for us quickly and efficiently. We had a wonderful experience. This is a little lodge, nevertheless everything is perfectly organized. The atmosphere feels comparable to that of a vacation home. I especially enjoyed the idea of bringing everyone to the fire place after the evening safari to wait for dinner, where they may communicate and exchange experiences. We got a room that viewed the river, and we observed multiple creatures without leaving the room. Excellent staff; everyone is nice and lovely to speak with. The men that take you on safari are likewise excellent. The lodge's owners live there permanently and are really welcoming guys. I hope we come back here again. Little features I'd like to note include a Nespresso machine in the room, good wi-fi if you need it for business, a heated sheet during the cold season (a great concept), a bed net, a water station in lobby. Abby (10/5): Unforgettable - We loved our stay at Baluleni, it was a magical experience from start to finish! The staff were amazing, so attentive, Tian and Skye were extremely informative on the game drive and a credit to Baluleni and the owners were fab in offering advice on the rest of our stay in SA and lending us binoculars! It was an unforgettable and exciting experience to be in an unfenced lodge, we had many animals come and visit during our stay, including elephants at dinner and a giraffe during a massage on the terrace! Beautiful place and would love to return one day! Nothing!

Steve (10/5): Exceptional - Stayed at Baluleni for 3 nights and can't speak highly enough for what an amazing lodge this is. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Janine and a welcome drink, the hospitality and attention to making every moment memorable is like nowhere else we've stayed in the world. Arriving a little late and missing the evening game drive, the owner Andreas, kindly took us out himself for a drive and most amazing evening sundowner! So kind, and some life memories seeing our first lions! The chalet is so beautiful and relaxing and impeccably clean. The pool area too so relaxing to spend a few hours in between game drives. And the food is incredible. Amazing breakfasts looking out over the beautiful grounds, and 3 course evening meals in the boma with a fire! A really talented chef who created some incredible menus for us. We did 5 game drives and a river tour. Our guide Tian is an incredible asset to Baluleni. So knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and clearly in love with his surroundings! His passion to pass on his knowledge and make your day really shines through, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Drinking coffee in the bush at 6am as the sun comes up is something we won't forget fast, thanks Tian. A beautiful lodge in a beautiful place, made more special by the hospitality. From the owners, Andreas and Heike to literally all the staff, the friendliness and warmth is like nowhere else. Our car was even cleaned before we left!! Thanks so much for a memorable stay. Gertjan (9/5): Great adventure with a genuine friendly staff. - Great relaxed atmosphere with an awsome guide Skye who really shared his passion and great knowledge about nature. We got a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite. The price may put some people off. But it’s certainly wotth it. 3 meals a day, two game drives a day with great guides. We even got an extra night drive where we see a lion make a kill and eat it with whole the family.
Babalwa (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were amazing. They made my family and I feel at home away from home. The food is delicious, the service is amazing and the rooms are quite comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were there over Christmas and they went out of their way to make it special and memorable. I would highly recommend. Value for money for sure.
Anupriya (8/5): Overall it was a good experience! - 1. Property is located at the Greater Kruger Area, vicinity of wild life. Could spot many animals including lion, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, kudus etc. 2. Rooms were beautifully designed and neatly maintained 3. Our tour guide was very sweet (Tian) 4. They specially arranged dinner in front of our tent house as a group to spent quality time together, we enjoyed it l! 5. They were protective about us not walking alone in the dark within the premises 1. Food was average, not much variety or options 2. More hospitality from some staff would be great as there was strict instructions (which is understandable in forest) but the tone of instruction and the way the messages were delivered sounded rude, when you are at leisure, you won’t want that. 3. While having dinner, half way through, since it was time to wind up, staff took of the plates while eating which we felt could have been managed in a better way.
Karen (10/5): Wonderful lodge! - A really lovely lodge with not too many rooms and well laid out with plenty of space but still an easy walk to the main lodge building and pool area. Boma dinners every night, which was fun, and excellent food for all meals! We stayed in a tented room which was large, well equipped and with a great covered patio area. Staff were wonderful, and we had an excellent guide, Tiann, very knowledgeable and who took the time to explain things well, which made for great game drives! The road into the lodge needs some improvement, bit rough in places, although I believe this is on the cards to be done soon.
Jessie (9/5): Beautiful Baluleni - We had an amazing time at Baluleni. The staff were very kind and knowledgeable and went above and beyond. We went on two extra drives for free as they'd heard of a lion's whereabouts and so, we ran from our lunch and went straight out and saw her. The lioness walked right along the road, laid down near us and was doing a bit of animal spotting herself too - such an amazing sight. We went to Kruger after and had 15 cars trying to spot the back of a lion across a river, so this was truly magical as we were the only vehicle there too. We were also up close to elephants, giraffes, lots of birds and much more. The food was also amazing, I'm vegan and the lodge made me some delicious food while there and my friend really enjoyed her meals too. On the drive out the owner even took our suitcases in her car to help with the bumpy roads. A truly great stay. Our tent was a little noisy flapping on the first night as the winds were stronger but only a minor point.

Huw (10/5): Excellent stay in the perfect location! - Excellent! Fantastic morning and sunset game drives with Niko who has good knowledge of the animals and plants. Nice food and evenings by the firepit. The staff took good care of us. Wildlife just outside of our chalet. A must stay within the greater Kruger Park. Nothing.
Gerrit (9/5): An excellent bushveld experience. - We had a very relaxed experience in the bush. A lot of personal attention from everybody. Food was well catered for and of very good quality. The game drives, morning and afternoon, were excellent, the guides Nico and Vivian, did a very good job. Swimming pool was very neat and also necessary in this time of the year. WiFi was very good. The access road was in a very bad condition due to the heavy rainfall in the last month. Bad spots should be upgraded. Due to load shedding, on most days there were electricity outings. Installation of solar panels is a necessity for basic electricity supply for fridge and cooling fans etc.

Pleasant evenings at the boma with exellent food. Gamedrives with very competent rangers are included The dirtroad to the lodge is only suitable for SUVs or 4wheeldrives.
Berthele (10/5): Nice hosts, perfectly equipped lodge, good food, amazing nature, what more can you expect? - Baluleni Lodge is perfect because you can both relax in a lush environment and explore nature either with your own car in Kruger park or with the lodge's guide who is amazing.
Dee (10/5): Couldn't be better - We liked everything. The road to the lodge is long and a little bumpy, but we enjoyed this as an extra safari. We always saw animals. The hotel is amazing and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. There was nothing we didn't like. Everyone couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. Everything was fabulous. Five star luxury. We saw loads of animals from our bungalow.

Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent food. Quality of accommodation furnishings. Friendly staff. The lodge location with open areas of grass is very quiet. If you are hiring a saloon type vehicle and not a 4x4 don't drive up the access road to the lodge as not suitable for low chassis. Arrange to leave on the secure side of the entrance gate as 24 hour security. The owner will meet you at the gate for transfer to the property.

Ludwig (10/5): Exceptional - A great location, with nice and tidy buildings. The staff do their best to make your stay as comfy as possible. Would stay there for a whole week just to relax and watch animals. The breakfasts are awesome and prepared with love.

Elodie (9/5): Lovely location and facilities; WONDERFUL guide - Kitchen catered to one of our party who was gluten-free and vegetarian, WONDERFUL guide/tracker who was extremely knowledgeable. private park area has lots of wildlife. Evening meals served under the stars capped off remarkable days. Cottages were lovely, spacious, and clean. Nice deck with chairs for relaxation overlook minor game viewing area. Owners seem to care about their employees—kept them on during COVID! A day in Kruger makes for a long drive.

Walter (10/5): - We arrived a day later due to our flight cancellation, I emailed to thee host and I got an immediate reply and they were waiting for us in the morning with a hot breakfast.We had a fantastic experience at Baluleni.,They treated like family and we had great conversation with thosts Elke and Evert .All our meals were delicious ,on time and of just perfect portion, Two nights we had most memorable dinner under the stars and beautiful Boma(the other 2 nights we had showers so sat inside the restaurant) ,The butternut soup was one of a kind and it was scrumptious.We spotted some animals right from our room balcony as well.We had wonderful experience and we would go back to stay there again.All staffs are fantastic and the hosts were delightful ,they put their hearts in taking care of us. We felt like that we left our family behind when we left .

Philip (10/5): Excellent private lodge with personal service - Baluleni Lodge was the perfect place for my Kruger Safari vacation. Owners Elke and Evert have made a special place at Baluleni and I can't wait to come back again. It started by being greeted at my car by guide Damien and Evert. They assisted me with my luggage and I was taken straight away to the lodge for lunch. The chef makes up a variety of South African cousin that I couldn't get enough of. The food was delicious! After lunch I was escorted to my beautiful lodge. I love the balcony overlooking the river bed. The lodge was well appointed and clean. I had booked the safari package, so I was kept quite busy with the game drives. Guide Damien was well informed and knew where to go to spot the game. I saw several lions as well as many other animals. I was so thrilled. I especially recommend to do the full day Kruger tour. It was long, but well worth it. Riding with Damien wasn't just about seeing the animals, but learning about them and their social structure and mating habits plus more. I felt like I learned so much about the game animals and how they live. If I was going to write only one complaint, it would be that the stay was too short. I wish I had one extra day just to relax and enjoy the beautiful pool. The 3 day safari package keeps you very busy, but the value is truly exceptional.
Stefan (10/5): Fantasic choice in greater Kruger - An absolut fantastic stay for me and my 2 children. Tanks to Elke and Evert who is the owner of Baluleni for create such a relaxed atmosphare at the lodge. Fantastic game drives with very knoledgeable rangers who was concern to find game and so we did, lion, elephants and all we expected. They also have us much knowledge about the nature and the reserve as sunch which was very much appreciated. Excellent food from the kitchen. The lodge is in the middle of the wild and we really felt to be a part of it with animals very close by. It was a most enjoyable stay and again, Thank you all employees at the lodge for making our stay a fantastic one.

Michael (10/5): A wonderful lodge to explore Kruger from. - An authentic Kruger experience. Delightful hosts, knowledgeable rangers who knew the best spots to see the animals. The chalets are clean, great food and a super swimming pool. Definitely consider seriously when you're thinking about Kruger.
