Guest Reviews
- Stuart (7/5): Good couple of days but the hotel really needs a refurb - Location , situated right in the heart of the resort Poor WiFi service and room was very dated . The carpet was worn out and the shower was hard to operate
- Andy (7/5): 2 day break - Hotel was right in the front, with a large easy to use car park. Parts of the hotel a little tired room only had a clothes hangers, and the shower gels were not filled up. Bed a little soft and spongy.
- Josephine (8/5): We enjoyed our stay. - Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was very good. Unfortunately needs updating.
- Sean (7/5): -
- Martin (9/5): -
- Geraldine (8/5): Reunion weekend - We had an event in the Royal so Ideal place to stay. Near to town and beach so something for everyone. Bar and restaurant on site. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Rooms are a bit dated and the sprung mattress in our room was very noisy every time we moved .
- Simon (6/5): Weekend by the beach - Shower was ok! Good price for our stay. Rooms very tired and in need of updating.
- Leigh (8/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): Very friendly and helpful staff, will visit again next year - Close to shops and beach, lovely views, easy to park at hotel and food in CJ’s bar was lovely Unfortunately noise from young guests at a wedding made it very noisy
- Francis (8/5): Enjoyed the hotel despite it age - Breakfast Creaky floors.
- Brenda (10/5): -
- Sam (8/5): Tired in appearance but Very Comfortable - Perfect location. Comfortable beds. Lovely shower. Friendly staff. Free parking. Tired and in need of an update which isn’t really reflected in the price. Carpets in the room were thread bare and had black sticky tape on them in parts. It doesn’t put me off using the hotel as everything else is fab but price should reflect this better.
- David (9/5): -
- Ann (1/5): Not a relaxing experience and certainly would not return - The position and car parking Bedroom faced a night club and Road. We were kept awake until 3.00 am with shouting, screaming, music and traffic on both nights. Bedroom was poor quality no blind in bathroom or anti slip mat when showering and bath very slippery.
- Filip reis (5/5): Het hotel,is vergane glorie. Spijtig. - Ontbijt was niet volgens de afspraak. Geen continentaal ontbijt. Enkel Engels ontbijt dat niet ok was. Vlees volledig uitgebakken.
- Sharron (7/5): Hotel, staff and facilities good but with no soundproofing in the front rooms would not stay again. - Being beach front My room overlooked a bar that was open until 4.30 am and as our stay was over the weekend we had no sleep whatsoever due to the stupidly loud noise all night outside of the bars customers.
- Lisa (9/5): Had a fabulous stay at the hotel, the staff were friendly and would recommend the Sunday lunch. Only downside was the cl - Great location, lovely friendly staff, good food N/A
- Susan (7/5): Great location, noisy room - Close proximity to the sea front. Use of a car park The room was very noisy from outside bars
- Kerry (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Very central Nothing
- Marie (7/5): - Location was spot on as we had a family wedding on the pier , but hotel very dated needs some TLC.
hotel room so hot and fan did not work.
When we went down to breakfast all my 5 family members got there food 1st these was all cold .
When the food came out 10 minutes later all the rest of my party had finished eating but my breakfast was lovely and hot
- Kerry (10/5): -
- Jones (8/5): Pleasant and comfortable - Breakfast and Dinner were good and well served .The staffwere friendly and helpful.
Rooms were clean and quiet Fllanels , non-slip mats in the shower ,glasses for tooth cleaning and paper hankerchiefs could have been provided at little cost but would have improved my exprience
- Cheryl (8/5): Lovely hotel with fabulous location - Did not eat within the hotel but the menu looked good and reasonablely priced . Lovely location and views from the room were beautiful. Matress was rather uncomfortable but apart from that an excellent hotel and well worth the money paid
- Kayleigh (2/5): Don’t bother staying here. Premier inn is half the price and a thousand times nicer. - The building itself looks nice but the room was awful The room was extremely dated and smelt unclean. The bathroom contained a shower that can only be described as looking like a horse box. I refused to use the bathroom and would use the toilets downstairs.
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Bird (8/5): Okay for an overnight stay - Location
Very good buffet breakfast Needs an update in certain areas
- souad (8/5): -
- Brian william (10/5): -
- Karon (10/5): Excellent hotel - All the staff we encountered were excellent; very professional and friendly.
The room was clean, tidy and had everything we required.
- Terry (8/5): Overall the stay was very good and we will be staying again. - The room was comfortable and clean and with free parking. The location is ideal for the town centre and the seafront. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was out of the way on the ground floor along a long narrow corridor.
- Michael (7/5): Good - Great location Tiered
- Alan (7/5): - Great location with parking Horrendous trying to get to sleep, as bars and night clubs were loud until after 3am.
We were given the suggestion of booking a sea view room next time when checking out!
- Russ (7/5): - Bar garden location friendly staff free parking Spongy beds ,a annoying green light in the bedroom that lit the room up no way of turning it off...curtains were old and twee and the blinds were loose...
- Edward (8/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Royal hotel - Peace and quiet. All the staff we well mannared and polite.
- alison mary (8/5): - Sea view. The Royal seemed rather empty in such good weather. No comfy lounge to sit in, just the small conservatory.
- Paul (1/5): -
- Simon (9/5): -
- brian (6/5): Enjoyed our stay. - The location, staff and parking. Breakfast room was very noisy.
- Tracy (7/5): - Location lovely Victorian hotel. Clean A little worn, rooms need updating. Breakfast was luke warm/cold. Did mention it on day 1, day 2 still luke warm/cold
- Margaret (8/5): - Hotel was warm and the staff were pleasant & friendly Breakfast was very poor. Precooked and mostly inedible.
On 15th last orders in the bar at 9.45pm and the door to the smoking area locked at that time
- Mike Watkins (8/5): Few nights in Weston-Super-Mare - Great location, for seafront and pubs, as long as you don't expect quite. Good breakfast. Room decor and furniture a bit tired. Bed too soft. Floor sloping so foot of bed slightly higher than head of bed. Could do with a light refurb.
- nigel (7/5): An enjoyable three days although the price of the single rooms have increased. - Breakfast was okay but the last time we stayed the breakfast was cooked to order not the present buffet style. We always enjoy the bar, but feel it has slightly been down graded into a sports bar. A large area has been given over to a pool table as well as two dart boards.
I think it would be better to find a games room for Pool and darts and return the bar to its original glory.
There was a great Elvis night on Friday and it wasn't the same with a pool table taking up so much space.
- Adrian (9/5): -
- Boyce (10/5): Royal Hotel stay in Weston Super Mare - The hotel and the staff were lovely, very friendly. Tracy on reception was brilliant.
The hotel was very close to everything we did do no driving involved once we arrived. Nothing r

- Debra (8/5): Excellent hotel in a great position. - The Royal Hotel is situated so close to the town centre and also the beach. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. They were doing maintenance on the hotel bar so this was out of action for one day and night of my holiday.
- Butcher (5/5): - The place was OK, breakfast was nice and the location was great. All members of staff were very friendly and helpful. We had issues with the heat in our room, the radiator thermostat was broken and it was very uncomfortable. We had to block the toddler from the radiator and the windows as it was quite unsafe. One of the windows was loose and slip down.
- gsc (9/5): - ...... ..
- Lana (5/5): - Breakfast was good.
Location was good and we had a sea view. The bed was only a small double ,should have been bigger. Every where you walked the floor creeked. The floor from the bathroom to the opposite wall sloped into the middle of th
- Kate (5/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was standard. Good location Rooms were very hot and beds v bouncy
- Katie Colbourn (8/5): Shower shocking - Everything apart from the shower The shower was shocking. Runs intermittently hot and cold with no water pressure
- Deborah (9/5): Brilliant friendly spotless hotel, welcoming staff at great prices & can’t wait to return. - The staff were very welcoming, upgraded us free to a sea view room as it was my partners birthday. Perfect location as it was central to the shops, beach, pier, restaurants & pubs. The room was lovely , although the carpet was shabby & had a very bad worn patch by the bed , ignoring that the room was spotlessly clean , lovely deep bath & powerful shower. We didn’t use the trouser press but there was no socket close to it even if we wanted to. The bed was really comfortable, nice pillows. The food in the bar was really nice & lots of it. I had the beef burger, homemade onion rings, chips & homemade coleslaw & my partner had the southern fried chicken burger chips , homemade onion rings & coleslaw too, both big portions. The prices were reasonable too. The free parking with plenty of spaces was a huge bonus also. Apart from the patch of worn carpet , I can’t think of anything to complain about & I can’t wait to return for another break there.
- Fennell (8/5): Few days away at easter - The staff were lovely and location near to everything Pillows rock hard we had a room opposite a pub noise at night kept us awake till early hours but my son who had a room with sea view had a good night so will ask for that next time
- Jenni (8/5): Mukava hotelli rannan ja palvelujen lähellä - Kaunis vanha rakennus, suuri, moderni kylpyhuone Viikonloppuöinä ulkoa kuuluva meteli vaikeutti nukkumista, vastamelukuulokkeet auttoivat
- Beverly (9/5): Lovely hotel - Very large and comfortable room. Nothing we didn't like.
- Christine (10/5): Lovely hotel, perfect location will be back. - Beautiful hotel, lovely room. Our room was on the noisy side, disturbed until 3am.
- Lady Judith (9/5): Seaside stay while visiting Family - Great location. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. We had a Seaview room which was lovely. The room was large and comfortable with a very large bathroom but for some reason the shower screen was fixed which left me struggling a little bit. We also booked the Carvery for Sunday lunch and that was excellent and was reasonably priced. We had a small issue with the car park as it’s free for guests but is pay and display for others, which on our return from a day out of the Saturday we could not find a space. Thankfully we only had to wait a short while for a car to leave but at busy times in the Summer that could be an issue.
- karen (8/5): Enjoyed stay , would stay at hotel again but definitely wouldn’t have the breakfast. - Great location , had a sea view very comfy bed Shower not very good water not very warm . Windows could have done with a clean. Breakfast thought expensive the hot food dishes were empty had to wait ages for fresh cooked food then the bacon looked raw so avoided that and the eggs didn’t look fully cooked so again avoided.
- Angelina (10/5): -
- Helen (4/5): Last minute stay - Location great Bed was uncomfortable, curtains didn’t keep light out and room hot when window open it was too noisy
- Sarah (7/5): - Friendly staff in the bar & great location. Poor standard of maintenance in rooms bit grotty. Curtains all stained in room 308. Soap dispensers & coat hooks broken. Room 105 soap dispenser broke curtains not hooked up properly.
- Julie (10/5): Quirky - Nice hotel. Old and quirky. Excellent location. Witherspoons 5 minutes walk away. Bed comfy. Hotel a bit tired in places but with such an old building it's in keeping with its character.
- John (8/5): -
- Vincent (8/5): - The staff surrounding all good Bed not to comfortable and needs black outs on curtains otherwise ok
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - breakfast good, Excellent car park. Central hotel location
- Karen (8/5): Excellent .will stay again. - The staff are very pleasant . The was warm and clean the breakfast is good quality food . This is an older hotel It is however very good . Cj’s bar has a good choice of alcohol at good prices . The food is in the bar is excellent . Do not be afraid to stay at this hotel Nothing
- Christian (7/5): - Great location A bit old and past it.
- David (6/5): Exceptional value BUT hotel needs a makeover - Staff were great - all very helpful The hotel is tried and old. A bit like going back in time! BUT exceptional value for money, free parking and in the middle of town. Would rebook if ever staying in Weston-Super-Mare again
- Mark (8/5): - Excellent breakfast - all very fresh
- Talia (10/5): -
- Jean (10/5): Enjoyed - staff behind the bar exceptional - Close to theatre and shops The bathroom - shower was not great
- Christopher (8/5): -
- Terry (4/5): Enjoyed the stay overall. The hotel needs a major refurbishment to bring it up to date. - Location. Central close to all attractions
Car parking on site. Old buildings. Needs updating. Lack of power points.
Bed / bedding really poor, not hotel standard
- Andy (5/5): - Breakfast was quite nice. Excellent location, not far from grand pier. Room not the cleaniest. Kept awake most of the night by noise from nearby nightclub.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Great weekend - Very good location, staff were very friendly No water in rooms
- Cornel-Liviu (9/5): -
- Sarah (5/5): It was okay - Easy to get to and parking My room was hidden at the back of the property, overlooking a karaoke bar and was very loud at night.
- Sarah (6/5): Good but could do better - Good location. Accessible. CJ’s bar was good. Our room had a very steep slope towards the bathroom. The bed was small and not very comfortable. The lift was very slow and felt unstable.
- Dee (8/5): Good centrally located hotel - Close to the sea and the pier A bit dated. Wardrobe door squeaked.
- Sharon (6/5): Lovely and relaxing break. - Room was a good size. The staff very friendly and helpful. food was lovely.
Breakfast was good.
Enjoyed the sea view. The room was in need of some renovations.
But the room was clean.
- Ebony (10/5): Loved it great stay - Location The noise from the outside
- Alexander (10/5): - Always enjoy staying at the Royal Hotel. Great hotel and amazing location All good. Thanks
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Timothy (4/5): - breakfast was ok the room, bed too small ,noise from street below ,bedroom furniture old .
- Cusack (10/5): -
- angela (8/5): -
- Hazel (10/5): -
- graham (6/5): Adequate - Nice roim Breakfast expensive and disappointing
- K marsh (10/5): Beautiful hotel, fabulous location, bargain price, highly recommend this hotel. - I loved the location, plenty of bars close by, the hotel bar was perfect and reasonable, didn't have food but it did look nice, The staff were welcoming all around the hotel, our room was very quiet and more than comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. I found the bathroom in our room very snug, literally knees to the door while sitting on the toilet but it was newly decorated, the shower wasn't very powerful.
I found the breakfast a little cold and quite salty but I was hungover so it might have just been me, everyone else in our group enjoyed.
- Amanda (7/5): Pleased that we booked for an overnight stay, especially with the sea view. A bonus. - Location was great. Upgraded to a seaview room. Comfy bed. Clean. Great shower. Intermittent wifi signal which meant the TV did not work either.
- carole (7/5): Very enjoyable stay - Excellent location...right on the front..main square out the back..Pier to the left.
Very good breakfast.
Plenty parking
Grand staircase
Grand ballroom
Our room had a view of the beach and a huge window to the side.
- Jane (2/5): We wouldn’t stay here again. - Location was excellent and the staff very pleseant. The breakfast was very good. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The ceiling light was an emergency light and gave a green glow all night. The toilet flush was poor. The arepa and furniture in our room were very warm and looked grubby. The noise from banging doors was disturbing during the night. We luckily only stayed one night!
- Debbie (10/5): Perfect stay as always - Always a lovely stay. Great views, comfortable beds, clean and great staff. Nothing really to dislike, except the key cards which sometimes take several swipes to get into the rooms, or maybe it's just me 😅
- Chris (7/5): -
- Emma (7/5): This is a perfectly OK hotel in a good location with helpful staff. But the mattress let it down. It had ‘gone’ - Large airy room with huge bath
Close to beach The mattress needed to be replaced - saggy
- Debbie (7/5): - The breakfast was lovely The room was cold had to ask for heater,no extraction in bathroom, dust and cobwebs from ceiling ,outside light shinning through bedroom window, glow in the drak light ceiling on all night and noisy with people outside
