Guest Reviews
- María Estela (9/5): I would stay here again - It is an ex hacienda with excellent location Only one story, but no elevator
- Norma (10/5): Nice everything is a waking distance - I love the place The parking . To difficult
- Robin (10/5): Great staff—friendly and helpful. - Great location—across from Cathedral and center city sites
- CELIA MAGDALENA (9/5): Agradable - Ubicacion excelente, desayuno podría mejorar.
- Eduardo (10/5): it was a very enjoyable experience. we really enjoyed visting durango. - the breakfast was okay. we very much enjoyed the room, hospitality, and punta de cielo cafe. the hotel is very clean and close for our activities.
- Daliana (10/5): -
- Richard (1/5): Location good, amenities bad. Stay elsewhere. - Location Booking included deceptive photos that indicated an exterior balcony that the room didn’t have. The hotel was noisy due to the cafe downstairs until 11:30 pm. The towels were the worst I’ve ever seen in a hotel. The bathroom fan was so loud you’re better off doing your business in the dark.
Overall you’re paying good money for a bad hotel.
Yes the staff you interact with are friendly and the building nice but the downsides are such that I can’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
- CARLO CESAR (9/5): -
- Alfonso (10/5): -
- Brenda Elizabeth (10/5): Loved my alone day here. I walked everywhere did the Pancho villa & minera Durango museums at walking distance! - Very nice & close to everything in downtown Durango! The vintage style the architecture is very beautiful 🤩
- ROSARIO (10/5): -
- Jose R (9/5): Beautiful hotel with comfortable beds. Right in the heart of Centro - Centrally located
- Candace Ruiz (10/5): - We love the location, especially close to Teatro Ricardo Castro. Cool and interesting old building. Is that city really over 450 years old? Would have preferred King bed. Want more info about the decorations with the little cups.
- Tango (9/5): Good experience - Location, staff, beds, historic building AC is a bit noisy.
- Flor (10/5): - Excellent place to stay very close to everything, clean rooms, comfortable beds beautiful grounds. I would love to come back!!!
- Montserrat (10/5): - Safe
- Abby (9/5): Would definitely stay here again - The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially when I got lost due to the wrong address provided by booking.com! I had been driving 9 hours and was getting cranky but I was able to speak directly with someone (wish I could remember her name) who sent a pin and greeted me with a hug when I finally did arrive. The hotel itself is elegant with high ceilings, lush towels and comfy beds. It’s smack on the pedestrian walkway which runs for a number of blocks in either direction. Many, many restaurant choices. I liked Coreleone pizza and wallender’s ( the latter is not on the walkway). Breakfast was uninspiring with basically only two choices and one over worked cook/waiter. Because of the open air design I could easily hear noisy guests in the lobby, even though all rooms are on the second level.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Everyone in the staff was very kind and helpful. The property was very clean. You’re right in the middle of the city center so you’ve got museums, attractions, restaurants, and stores nearby all at walking distance. I highly recommend staying here.
- sandra (10/5): - Great place to stay. Very clean. Right in the heart of the city. The only downside is parking lot not connected to hotel. You have to walk around the street to get to the lobby.

- Vianey (10/5): - The staff was super helpful and beyond friendly. they were very attentive to our family's needs. The hotel is so pretty. We loved it. The beds were comfy, the coffee shop was yummy, it's located right in the center of the plaza. It's safe to walk and shop and eat. We needed an early taxi and they were great about having there on time. We loved it.
- Mendoza (10/5): - Everything. N/A
- Ivonne (8/5): - The place was clean and the staff was very helpful. The AC in the room was very noise and old.

- DESIDERIO (10/5): - Very friendly stuff, clean and comfortable
- Adriana (8/5): - My stay couldn’t have been better. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because there is no elevator and my group included children in strollers. The staff is friendly, accommodating and efficient, and the breakfast offers yummy options. The colonial architecture is beautiful and right outside the doors to the hotel is the cathedral, main plaza, and a blocks and blocks of shops, restaurants, clubs, ice cream shops, etc.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional - To the entire staff, especially housekeeping and security. All went above to make our stay exceptional. Nothing

- Alex Ramsey (10/5): Amabilidad - Excelente atención y servicio
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing location and comfortable stay - Might be the best location in the city to stay in. Super walkable and in the middle of a ton of historic sites, restaurants, bars and shops.
Room was cozy but very comfortable and with an amazing view of the historic street.

- Angelica (8/5): Greta staff - Location Hotel was a lill old
- Hernandez (8/5): Very good - The street view The breakfast
- Susan (10/5): Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, cute city - Beautiful, colonial architecture, great location and welcoming staff. Good WiFi, hot showers and comfortable beds. A very special place.
- Patricia (10/5): Another great stay! - Another wonderful overnight with 3 large dogs at Hostal de La Monja. When an historic hotel in the middle of a beautiful city welcomes you with your dogs, it’s special! Add gated, secure parking proximity to numerous dinner options, and places to walk the dogs nearby—it’s close to perfect. There’s a bar downstairs and an included breakfast that we’ve been unable to experience due to the length of our drive on those days. But we like this place so much we’ll likely plan 2 nights next time!
- Estefania (10/5): Exceptional - Location! Airport transportation is not provided like advertised.
- Birch (9/5): Superb - Historical, close to the square. A little hard to locate on the gps.
- Veilleux (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): - My favorite hotel of all time. Feels so magical walking out of your room. Every little death in there is just so beautiful and dreamy. Staff was so friendly. Security was so sweet at all times. Felt so safe having someone there at night. You can walk around everywhere i mean it. Area is so close to many shops. Love it!
- ANN (10/5): - No
- Juarez (10/5): Wonderful staff ! - Breakfast ok nothing special Location
- Jorge (10/5): - Ubicación
- Esteban (10/5): - Great hotel great location
- Maria (10/5): - Great Location, Historical District, Friendly Staff.
- Eduardo (6/5): Unhappy Camper - The breakfast included option is a scam! I was told that it ended with the pandemia, there isn’t a restaurant service or/and kitchen service nor personal! They will make a small pot of coffee if requested and a few cookies but no more than that! I booked there because of past pleasant experiences, though that is definitely in the past, the place is remarkably going downhill. My bed linen and pillow cases were changed only one in an entire week, the bathroom shower tiles, curtains and drapes were disgustingly dirty! I could go on and on, but it would not change my unpleasant experience, Sorry Monja!!!
- Jeffrey (10/5): A. Excellent value and experience, and B. Beautiful hotel with gracious staff - Traveling x-country with 3 dogs, looking for safe parking and pet friendly and a memorable place to stay. This checked every box. Location is a 10. All staff were gracious. Room was comfy and quiet. Hotel is eye-candy. Not a negative, but many hotels in large MX cities have secure parking available and this one does and it is completely convenient and safe but might have been a little confusing as to how to access it except I’d read other reviews that described how to do it, and that when you arrive in your car, you need to phone the hotel and they send someone out to open the lot.
I followed those instructions and things went flawlessly not only with a gentleman from maintenance coming out in moments to open the lot, but another staff member came with him with a luggage trolley so I didn’t need to then tote my bags to the hotel entry.
- Lorena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reina Isabel (10/5): - Wow! This hotel and the location is wonderful! in the middle of the city with many attractions’ Staff is very very friendly and helpful! Complementary breakfast is delicious! The hotel itself is very beautiful! I 1000 percent recommend the this hotel!
- Emma (8/5): Great location in a fascinating town. Very helpful staff. - The location is outstanding being right beside the cathedral and in the main street of the historic town. Exploring was easy and convenient. The building is really atmospheric. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was a bit haphazard. It wasn't clear if there was a menu available or only the included dish of chicaquiles. Staff were very responsive to requests however.....
- Alfredo (10/5): Would return - The rooms were super small, but very nice
- Norma (7/5): Nice location and beautiful facilities. - The location was great.
The facilities were beautiful Linens and towels could be better; they looked old and dirty.
The breakfast was disappointing.
- Erik (10/5): - Great room , quiet, clean , great breakfast I like the location and the architecture
- Felipe (8/5): - Our stay was ok overall, even though we received a free upgrade,(well appreciated) the upgraded room was great,
we had no WI-FI at all. If i'm not mistaking, it was room 317
let me point something out, to my knowledge, the location of room is the problem. I did notified the front desk, they did
a great effort to fix the issue, buu i8t was unsuccessful.
- eugenio (8/5): CENTRO HISTORICO - UN LUGAR MUY BONITO, EN EL CENTRO HISTORICO
- Alfredo (10/5): Good service - Clean place None
- Ickert (10/5): I’ll be back for sure! - I was very impressed with the hotel and staff. Everyone was friendly, nice and accommodating. I will definitely be returning :) The breakfast options could be a little bit better but no big deal. The hotel is centrally located to many different restaurants, which was amazing because we were there to experience the city.
- Martin (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was ok
Location was great
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Betty (10/5): - .
- M (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luis (9/5): Great service - Exceptional location and staff Breakfast choices were very limited
Missing fruit- yogurts choices - some guests do have a balanced diet
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luis (10/5): - Hostal de la Monja is in the middle of the downtown, across the Cathedral; has a parking space behind the hotel; everything is nearby.
Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.
The breakfast included doesn’t have many options but is good. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Ana (10/5): - I really like this property, very comfortable y good service.
- Victor (8/5): Very good - Great location walking distance to market, restaurants, Cathedral, and historic Durango. Do recommend.
- Peter (10/5): We just love this place and the town is quite quaint as well. - Staff was very friendly and helpful. They opened up the gate to the secure parking behind the hotel, and then helped us with our luggage all the way to the room. The property is an old building that’s beautifully decorated with plenty of places to sit. On the he ground floor there’s a café right next-door that opens up into the lobby so it’s just really comfortable, accessible and a café right downstairs. Also, the hotel is located on a pedestrian street.
