Guest Reviews
- Joe (8/5): - Nice, spacious room. Good bathroom and shower.
- Jody (10/5): - Nice breakfast and staff.
- Tarquinn (2/5): No Hot water, Terrible Internet, No Phone signal. - Absolutely SHOCKINGLY AWFUL stay over 4 nights.
- Mark (10/5): High recommend - Cannot fault our recent stay, Property is very clean and tidy, room recently refurbished to a standard above most of the premium hotels I have visited .Owners very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble, breakfast was cooked fresh with a very good range of options.Pool complex was also clean tidy and very well maintained, water temperature was very comfortable, no shock to the system as you first emerge.Location of property seems a bit out of town, but in reality is only 5 min drive to harbour area or £5-7 taxi.Wifi is quick and free, streamed TV worked fine. There is a Pub and local shop within 100yds of propery but did not visit on this ocassion. No need as there is a honesty bar stocked with all the drinks and snacks you could need at very resonable prices.
- Shani (6/5): Satisfactory - Nice cosy room with en-suite. In the middle of nowhere, not really much to do. Breakfast was ok, however, we didn’t get offered tea or coffee.
- rachel (8/5): - View was lovely the room was very clean everything we needed i had my 9 month old son with me the hotel provided a cot too very welcoming. We were there for a family funeral we had use of iron and board too also swimming pool. Nice peaceful area will be staying again .
- Mohammed (6/5): OK to use - The place is ok, fairy high up, the view is nice, very quite
- Paul (10/5): Mansions great place to stay - Large room
Very relaxing
Quiet area
Nice garden to chill
Great breakfast
Very friendly, welcoming owners
- James (8/5): Weekend away for Leyland National 51 Festival - Really lovely clean and tidy place, love the honesty bar, dog friendly which was great, no fuss style and presentation. Some open space around the corner so great for the dog to have early morning exercise. It's at the top of a big hill, so be prepared for that before getting into the centre of Whitehaven. Would highly recommend.
- Ben (10/5): Great value for Money - Nice place, with really friendly owners, the pool and sauna was a nice addition and got to use those one night when I wasn't working. the hot tub was out of order, but will definitely stay there again.
- Kathryn (10/5): Really enjoyable stay - Really enjoyable stay. Great welcome from friendly owners. Comfortable rooms and good breakfast.
Great views over the town and good suggestions on what to see and do in the area. Good weather was a bonus!
- Rosamund (10/5): - Beautiful B&B with lovely bedrooms and a fantastic pool which kept the children occupied for hours. The hosts were really nice and the cooked breakfasts were delicious.
- Claire (10/5): Great B & B! - Warm and welcoming guesthouse. The hosts are friendly and informative on the area and surrounding places to visit. Excellent breakfast and a good base
- Daniel (8/5): Good pre C2C stay - Comfortable stay before riding C2C. Very nice hosts and good secure cycle storage
- Lorraine (10/5): - Great friendly welcome. They were understanding that we may have arrived late. We got an upgrade on the room which was nice of them too. Nice cosy atmosphere. Having a pool is a definite plus.
Great views from all around the building given the elevation and windows across the bay and hills.
Breakfast was fantastic. Compliments to the chef.
Great value for money.
- Kathryn (10/5): A Hidden Gem in Whitehaven - Amazing stay in this beautiful converted Mansion House originally home of William Wordsworth in 1770 - facilities such as swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna . Beautiful views and excellent hosts
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Great B&B. Good size rooms, excellent breakfast, superb helpful hosts. Great value for money
- P (10/5): 3 nights stay - Nice, friendly staff. Everyone and everything was easy going, which we appreciate
- John (10/5): Great B & B - Thank you to Nav and Ian for making our stay so welcoming and even got gluten free sausage for my coeliac husband. Very friendly and homely with lots of information about places to visit and places to eat.
- Kelly (10/5): Feb stay - This is a fab little bed and breakfast. Dog friendly, family friendly, business trip friendly.
Honesty bar on site with a selection of alcholic and non alcoholic drinks and snacks. Pub in walking distance.
Breakfast was very good.
Shame we couldnt have used the swimming facilities, but this was due to our circumstances not the facilities themselves. View from my room was lovely both day and night.
- Louise (8/5): - Lovely people that run the B&B
Couldn’t do enough for me.
- Barry (10/5): Festival weekend - We travelled to Whitehaven for The Boof, a Pop Indie Music Festival and we were pleased to stay at The Mansion. Ian and his partner were very hospitable and easy to talk to. They made our trip very pleasant indeed. The guest house is a work in progress. It is a big establishment that is going to take a while to fully renovate. However, our room was big and comfortable with a nice view. The bed was good and we slept well. The bath had some marks on it, but the bedroom and bathroom was clean and fine for our needs. Breakfast was nice and we also used the pool which was an added bonus. I would recommend some new towels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Debby & Rhiann - Had a lovely stay at The Mansion, very pleasant hotel with clean and comfy rooms and a great breakfast. Ian and Rav are super hosts, really friendly and very helpful with tips on places to visit, pubs and restaurants and some good walks. We certainly walked more this weekend than we have in a while. I'd recommend the Mansion to anyone visiting the Whitehaven are. Thanks for your hospitality and for your help with our car trouble
- Adrian (8/5): - Very friendly and welcoming. Clean, warm, comfortable. Excellent breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it.. would definitely be coming back. The pool was amazing..
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean and tidy basic b and b. The owners were excellent. Decent breakfast.
Nice views over the valley, premises sits on edge of a large estate. The view from the breakfast window was an accident damaged car being repaired in a neighbours drive.
The reception area is confusing with a myriad if signs regarding milk and the fridge, there was no obvious place for reception. The following morning, upstairs, I saw what I presume is reception, with a visitors book and card reader.
The room was clean and tidy but did feel a but tired. I had a good nights sleep
- Nigel (10/5): - Excellent choice for breakfast.
Most comfortable.
Great views.
Close to the town
Caring and very welcoming
- Simon (10/5): Excellent b&b, ever so friendly people - Stayed here in preparation for a coast2coast effort. They have a secure room to store your bike and the guys who run this place cannot do enough to help. Great views of the sea from the rooms at the back of the b&b and Ian goods a great breakfast!
Would definitely recommend if staying in Whitehaven, for whatever reason
- Jon (10/5): - Excellent accommodation and friendly hospitality
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly . Very comfortable bed . Breakfast excellent
What more do you want
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The B&B is set up high, a couple of miles outside Whitehaven. The Room we were in was decorated to a lovely standard with a very comfortable bed and a view over Whitehaven and the surrounding area. There was a good choice for the breakfast which was cooked to order and they even had gluten free bread. I would be happy to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly staff, lovely place and super clean! - Friendly staff, very nice stay (albeit very short). Very clean and tidy. Would highly recommend and stay there again without hesitation. Excellent value for money. Had en-suite and was pet friendly too. Hilly area, so you have to be of good health and a car driver.
- Wendy (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful owners. Room was clean and comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful area. Shame the swimming pool was hired out so much - would have been nice to be able to use the pool between 16.00-18.00hrs. Understand why they need to hire it out though
- Pam (8/5): Lovely hosts and nice clean room. - Great place, great hosts - everything is thought of.
Great breakfast.
- Paul (10/5): Great place to stay - Lovely staff, bathroom tiling needed finishing but over all really clean, good breakfast, nice and quiet and friendly staff.
- Lynda (4/5): Disappointing room - Very grubby carpet room smelt bad. The bed was hard. The emsuite was a diy bodge job the door arrangement was annoying also had to run hot tap in sink for a long time before the water was hot. We booked it because of its pool and sauna but couldn't access it at a convient time because they opened the pool to the public and it was noisy with kids going past room when we wanted a bit of quiet to relax in room.
- SEAN (10/5): - Great B&B, great value, my first stay and I will definitely stay there again.
- M (10/5): - Lovely, welcoming guest house & very friendly owners
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice guesthouse, 20minute walk into Whithaven - Ian & Nav, owners of ‘The Mansion’ guesthouse are friendly, helpful and accommodating. They are in the process of renovating the property (April 2018) which is currently shabby but clean. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds and spotless bed linen and towels. We were on a cycling holiday and ‘The Mansion’ guesthouse was a perfect place for our stay. It provided a secure and safe place for our bicycles. Breakfast was excellent and freshly prepared.
The swimming pool at the property is good.
The property is situated on a hill, approximately 20minute walk into Whitehaven town centre.
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent swimming pool. Very friendly and accommodating owners. Very good breakfast. The only down side is that there are no restaurants nearby - it’s a 25 minute walk or a short drive into the town.
- Karma (8/5): Welcoming - Friendly welcome on arrival. Room spotless and lovely en suite bathroom. Friendly staff at breakfast. Would stay again.
- Michael (10/5): Great value. - Great place at good price. Friendly welcome.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good short stay for working locally - Working at Westlakes near Whitehaven and needed a reasonably priced B&B for the night
- elaine (10/5): Suite of rooms! - Appearances are deceptive. So true in this case! Once inside the guest house I was suitably impressed.
We were shown to a family suite: 2 large adjoining bedrooms, en suite and adjoining communal lounge, which only we used.
Hosts were very welcoming and gave us a guided tour. Breakfast was delicious 😋
All in all would highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A warm Whitehaven welcome - My visit was made by the warm hospitality of the hosts. Beautiful view over sea & Whitehaven
- sean lynch (10/5): Brilliant. Above expectations. - Great stay. Fantastic view. Great people. Would recommend to anyone. Just book in advance my only advice as being a great place to stay it gets fully booked quickly. The breakfast was amazing. Wouldn't defiantly stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a mansion by any stretch of imagination - The B&B is clean and the staff is friendly. And the breakfast is really good. That's the pros. On the other side this is not a mansion. The location is far out of town at the top of a housing estate. There is nothing close by. The room we were given was a good size. However the door to the bathroom was stuck and you had to apply considerable force to get in or out. Our ten year old got stuck every time and was not happy. Also there is something wrong with the floorboards in the middle of the room, it's like sinking into a whole in the ground. The kettle was on top of a wobbly table connected with an extension cableport that was dangling from the table. Maybe we were just unlucky with the room. With hindsight we should have probably complained straight away but we arrived tired after a long drive and just wanted to relax.
- Gary (8/5): - All good, no issues
- Barrie (10/5): Good value - Great bed and breakfast with really helpful owners and was a pleasant experience
- Priscilla (8/5): Lovely stay. - Lovely old hotel being refurbished by new owners who both made us feel very welcome.
We had a room with a sea view which had everything we needed.
Breakfast was made to order and delicious.
The walls are a little thin as it's an old building so bear this in mind when staying there so you don't disturb others with loud late night phone calls.
- Neil (8/5): Close to Whitehaven - Overnight business stay, ideally situated for a brisk walk into Whitehaven
