- Guest (10/5): - Our host was so welcoming and made it so welcoming for us and even put the fire on for us when we were coming back late from an event
- Callan (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful space, very comfortable, friendly dogs and lovely accommodating host who even put the fire on for us while we were out for dinner!
- Patrick (10/5): I will return again - I had my daughter with me for otago open day. we booked anopther accomodation but when we arrived after a 11 hour drive the accomodation was rebooked and cancelled on us. It was 9pm, and the host replied to a voice message plea for somewhere to stay. he calmed us, and accepted us late night, and put the fire on to warm the accomodation. he was so kind, and made a bad experience into a wonderful warm welcoming stay. he provided fruit, ceral, and fresh eggs for breakfast. support this man and his place, it is a great place to stay. there was nothing to dislike, and he was so kind.
- Michael (10/5): A magical retreat - Was a magical experience, on our return to Dunedin will never look for any other accommodation, we found the ultimate.
Alan is the perfect host, and we can never thank him enough for allowing us to share his vision of utopia, with his trusted companions Bella and George.
We miss The Barn already, and can't wait for a return visit. There was nothing to dislike, The Barn is paradise personified.
- John (10/5): peaceful and quiet. - Rural location, peaceful and the host was a really nice guy.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy fireplace and very nice host !!
- Gary (10/5): We felt at home with everything we could want. Very calm atmosphere. - Private and spacious. Relaxing and peaceful vibe. Nothing
- Hamish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Airykah (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely owner Alan was very accomodating and warm. The barn was a rustic charm with beautiful lush bush surroundings. I took my dog who loved the stay just as much as we did! Thank you Alan!
- Leigh (10/5): Exceptional - Every thing animals allowed
And Alan was genuine Good bloke
Very welcoming and relaxed Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): A perfect hideaway - We loved everything about the Barn. Alan was a fantastic host. The location was amazing. The Barn was comfortable, warm and very well equipped. We would have loved to have stayed longer. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Macj (10/5): Peaceful, serene, warm and comfortable, with all mod cons. - The Barn was the perfect spot to stay for our last night in Te Wai Pounamu/ South Island. It was in the cool, lush bush, the sound of birds and chooks the only disturbance; no traffic to contend with, no noisy neighbours. The bed was very comfortable, the water hot, the barn warm, with its wood fire, and the two dogs very friendly.
Alan, the host made us welcome from the moment we arrived - and he even found a bottle of very tasty wine for us to have with our evening meal - which he also provided. We were very grateful that we didn't need to leave the serenity. If only we had known how peaceful it was, we may have booked two nights!
- Ramani (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place to stay. So quiet and tranquil. Very relaxing and comfortable. Loads of space. Great facilities. Everything you need. Breakfast provided (muesli, yoghurt, bread to toast, fruit etc with eggs to cook yourself). Lovely log burner. Easy access to Silver Peaks trails and Orokonui ecosanctuary. Alan is an excellent host. No biggie, but would prefer not to pay in cash. Watch the fridge. It was set too high and froze our veg. Easily sorted once we knew.
- Miranda (9/5): Absolutely lovely! - Alan is such a kind and wonderful host. We loved the fresh eggs and fruit at breakfast, the fire made by Alan when we came home, the isolation and peacefulness although in 5 minutes you’re in Waitati town. The Barn is a home away from home.
- Yvonne (10/5): Great spot. Perfect host. Many thanks Alan, George & Bella 😊 -

- James (10/5): Perfect short stay in a tranquil setting - What a find! If you like a remote, quirky property The Barn is perfect. A complete opposite to the bland hotels/motels you normally find. Set in a tranquil location well away from the main road the barn is exactly that, a converted barn. The bedroom overlooks the fantastic countryside and Alan is a wonderful host - very kind and understanding. If you like something different, go for it! Nothing
- Jerry (10/5): Absolutely fabulous place to rest and unwind! - Alan, the host was exceptional, the most kind hearted and generous person we’ve come across in our travels, he went above and beyond. We were free to roam around the property as if it were our own, the dogs were a joy as well. Highly recommend staying there, it’s far enough to be secluded but at the same time you’re just 15 minutes from the city. Everything was perfect.

- James (9/5): Excellent self contained B&B in the hills north of Dunners with beautiful sea / country views - Great B&B, excellent views, friendly owner, fire was roaring hot on arrival which was most appreciated. Will definitely return. Blackout blinds in the master bedroom would be really appreciated before my next visit - for those of us who like to sleep in at the weekends !!
- Angelita (10/5): THE BEST BARN BED AND BREAKFAST! - We like everything about the property! The place is very spacious, bed is super comfortable, million dollar views both day and night! The sounds of Tui and Morepork leveled up our experience. The host is outstanding! Alan is the greatest host we have ever met. Our short getaway made more memorable because of the place, the host and their pets! Thank you so much! We didn’t like to leave.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful Accomodation, set in absolutely unique and breathtaking scenery

- Rena (10/5): Definitely highly recommend this house. - Really nice atmosphere and comfortable. Lovely dogs and staff.
- Cindy (10/5): Bucolic holiday at its best - Remote and full of bird song, the bed is made of magic. Heaving blankets and the warmth from the fire. The breakfast was huge! If you love the bucolic life this is the place for you. Wish we had more time to stay and play with dogs some more. Also our own pooch loved it just as much as we did thank you xoxoxoox Nothing, everything was spot on
- Philhall60 (10/5): Really enjoyed my stay here, very friendly and helpful owners. Warm and comfortable. - Warm fire going before I arrived, plenty of wood all ready for the night ahead. No wifi.

- Condon (10/5): Exceptional - A very nice and enjoyable stay.
The hospitality was A +.
Will be going back for shore. Nothing to fault
- Nicole (10/5): Loved our stay! - Tasty, generous breakfast! Spacious self contained apartment with a fire which is really cozy. Beautiful views. Robert and Alan are friendly, welcoming hosts who make you feel right at home. Pet friendly is such an appreciated bonus - our dog loved the bush garden, playing with George and Bella (dogs) and meeting the pig! Easy drive into Dunedin CBD but there's great beaches and good cafe just down the road too!
- Will (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing decor and amenities, friendly hosts and dogs!
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassie (10/5): Views to die for and very welcoming Hosts. - The best nights sleep I had in NZ for two weeks. The Barn is situated up on the hill giving the best views out over the Dunedin countryside. We were immediately welcomed by Alan and Robert who make you feel at home right away. And the animals! I loved them all, especially Arnold the Pig and the stories about when he joined the family. I felt like a big kid again at a petting zoo.
- Iris (9/5): Delightful place to stay - Personable hosts
