A little back story . I have insomnia and sometimes when it gets really bad I get really sick. Just tired sick. So sometimes for the sake of my household and sanity I check into a hotel , airbnb for a few nights. It usually does the trick. I have stayed at the edge water, sternwheeler. All great and quiet. This time I stayed here. I was very sick and five days without sleep. I booked online, checkin went fine. I had a cigarette in my room (yes I know- I was prepared to face the charges) , a lady came to my room and like aggressively and physically tried to get in my room. She asked me to check out, I would never have begged if I was not sick but I did, and here I am still. She than tells me that every room gets checked/cleabed - even if you don’t want it .WHAT????? I have never heard of this before anywhere??? So another sleepless night came and I called the front desk to make sure than no one bothered me ….. in case I did actually fall asleep. The gentleman on the phone said too bad the manager would come in regardless…… again what?????? So skip forward to noon the following day still no sleep. I get a call saying they must clean the room . I said no you don’t . Followed by knocking now. Could you imagine if I actually fell asleep…. The guy said they have to ask me to leave again, is that how they make extra money , rent out the room twice over???? This is not even legal. So I told the guy if all you want to do is check the room go do it. Anyway do not stay here.
- I4829OEgarys (4/5): 2 star drops 1.5 star - april 9
previous guest garbage not removed
TV screen dirty
TV partially broken
water smells - bacteria needs bleaching?
no microwaves in any rooms
no compensation for issues
Have stayed many times but last 2 were unsatisfactory.
Formerly dinners were good but last 2 stays were unsatisfactory, however breakfasts still ok.
- crisen39 (6/5): Reliable Lodging in Whitehorse - We have stayed here multiple times over the years and will probably continue to stay here on future trips. Here is the good: conveniently located on the Alaska Highway, rooms are clean, the motel unit (also referred to as the Annex) has outside entrances which allow you to park near your door (a difficult thing to find in Whitehorse). The restaurant has good food and pleasant service. The rooms we have stayed in are freshly painted and pet friendly rooms are available. Here is the bad: even though we've always gotten a non-smoking room, the bedspread and blankets have cigarette burns in them. The curtain has tears and does not hang straight, so need to pin together for privacy, the parking lot is rough with potholes, the bed bases are not boxed in so things can roll under the beds, no microwave and larger beds (queen or king) not available.
- Antiquetuck (8/5): A quaint reflection of what used to be the best - that's still okay. - Going in, it meets the description that a few others mentioned. It's barely '60's decor. They still use KEYS - real, brass, can't bite them keys. The rooms are covered in paneling. In some cases, different kinds. And it's got the old-style foam-tile ceiling. And the floor squeaks and creaks. And not many outlets - I use a CPAP and had to unplug something to use it.
But then...it's quiet. It's warm. The beds and linens were clean. The bathroom was very dated, but clean.
The crew were all very helpful and nice.
The breakfast, though not open (then) until 9AM, was excellent.
Nope, it's not the Taj MaHilton, but it was a good night's sleep and a good breakfast for a good price.
- Kyle (10/5): - Great
- Myron (8/5): - A short walk from the airport. Very convenient.
- Seo Young (10/5): - The don't expect anything special when in comes to the room and decor but they do put a good effort when it came to food and the service to make you feel as comfortable as possible
- Susan (8/5): Good one night stay - A good stay before catching a morning flight the next day. Very quiet despite being beside the airport and having a busy restaurant in the building. Dated decor but comfortable. Good wifi. Really nice staff.
- Christoph (8/5): Clean and friendly - A standard hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff. Good for travelers with short overnight stay, a trucker hotel. The restaurant is also frequented by locals.
Business travelers will miss more electrical outlets in the room or a microwave.
- mrpumpernickel (2/5): Mice in bedframe - they don’t care - I booked an overnight here for my partner a few yrs ago. Mice had crept into the bed frame, and they couldn’t sleep with the scurrying noises all night. They told reception and were met with the verbal version of a shrug. After 5 or so phone calls back in forth with management, they were offered a 10% off coupon for the dining establishment, which they declined (I mean c’mon). I have an upcoming flight landing at 11pm and leaving early the next morning, so my options are there or the pricier place next door. I called and told them about the mice situation and they replied that we live in the wilderness. I’d hope for some assurance that should the furniture have mice in it they would change rooms if possible, or help in catching the mice... but apparently if there are rodent tenants already in your room that’s just the deal. Sometimes service in the Yukon has an incredibly low bar because, hey, where else are you going to go? And this is a prime example.
- Aaron (6/5): Thankful for a place to stay - The people and service were excellent. The food delivered to my room was great. The room furnishings, amenities, and parking lot left me underwhelmed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a very genuine feeling place. It's not fancy or ostentatious. It feels like it is from a past era. Good value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value. Liked the old school decor and northern feel. The food was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Wpuld highly recommend.
- John (8/5): Convenient for Americans during Covid, Roomservice - Convenient to the Covid restrictions for Americans traveling through the Yukon. Service was excellent, all meals ordered were quickly brought over to the room. Very pleased with how kind the workers were.
Room was dated and I think there was a bed against the wall opposite my bed which wasn’t ideal for hearing the neighbor brushing up against the wall when sleeping.
- Penelope (10/5): Great Whitehorse Hotel! - Great hotel with clean rooms and great delivery service from their restaurant. Front desk was friendly and accommodating.
- M (10/5): Classic Motel Stay - Classic motel stays, with all the amenities you could need. Clean and neat which is important and so 5 stars for that. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- a4aron (10/5): Great hotel! - The rooms are a little dated but that's not a big deal at all when the staff is as friendly and the rooms as clean as they are. This is the 7th night of our trip and I would venture to say, the best! Even in the midst of Covid-19, the hotel and staff have tried to make guests feel welcome. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk gave us a breakfast and dinner menu for the restaurant in the hotel and they were able to deliver it to our door (delicious food btw), and she made sure to let us know if we wanted or needed anything else to call her and she would have it delivered to us. Grade A customer service!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Ordered food from kitchen, it was cold and seemed to be just warmed up instead of freshly cooked.
- ab (8/5): - Good place to stay while traveling through Whitehorse. Has a restaurant so you don’t have to leave while social isolating.
- Justin (6/5): - Sheets were not cleaned in the room. Absolutely disgusting
- Eric (10/5): - One of the finest establishments in Whitehorse. Staff was friendly and delivered room service with a smile. The kiddos loved the floral bedding. Fine art on the walls. Spa quality shampoos. Huge menu for room service.
- SaviourTastebuds (2/5): Unsafe, Uncomfortable, Shady Characters - Front desk consists of people who speak English as a second language, the manager is a drunk who is always in and out of the bar, blonde bartender isn’t pretty enough to be as rude as she is. Junkies, drug dealers are crawling all over this place, using the motel outside for a few hours only. A stranger kept knocking on our door harassing us, front desk did nothing. Trust me on this, hotel is not safe. Chambermaids keep what they find.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Service terrible. Couldn’t get waited on. Room was filthy. Nonsmoking room reeked from stale smoke.
- ChrisSimpson (8/5): - Definitely an older motel. Everything was clean but the hallway was a little dark and narrow, the carpeting was older, the floors in the room were not level, and the overall ambience begged for modernization. Still a comfortable place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an older property that has been well-maintained. The bathroom was spotless & looked like it had been recently renovated. I was there for 8 nights and returned to a vacuumed & tidied room each evening. The restaurant food was very good; the bar is popular & bar food is available. Staff are friendly & accomodating. I will stay here again.
- Daniel (8/5): - Beds firm. Location convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Restaurant was really nice and "Northern Style". Room was good too. And easy accessable. Nothing I disliked.
- Seattle66wa (8/5): Older Motel But Clean & Comfortable - Upon check in we were greeted by a very polite desk agent. Room was dated but very clean and comfortable. A busy parking lot with semi truck motors running all night, but with all that the room was very quiet. The restaurant in the motel was a delight. They serve a great breakfast and your coffee cup is always kept filled by a very nice server..
- V5848GUjessical (6/5): Passing through - We chose this place since they are along the Alaska Highway in route back to Alaska. The rate was okay, this is the first place I have stayed that changed for a second person in a room (we paid $150 csd for my husband and I) the check in was quick and the front desk personnel seemed nice. The room was a decent size but you can hear people in the hallway and in the rooms nearby. Other then that we had a good stay for a one night rest before continuing our journey back home.
- 20Michael17 (8/5): Clean & Quiet - The building is old, floors uneven, and the furniture has seen better days. However, it was clean, quiet, and the staff are pleasant professionals. When coming to Whitehorse for a quick trip, or just passing thru, the Airport Chalet is an economical and safe choice. As an added bonus, the restaurant has terrific food. It reminded me of those family run restaurants from years ago.
- B480KFtomg (4/5): Sort of dismal - The place is shabby and run down and the beds are short, cheap and hard. Not a level floor to be found anywhere. Do not understand why they charge a damage deposit ... you could not hurt this place. It is literally sinking into the ground. Forget about usable WIFI beyond checking email and texting. Hey, if funky is your thing, the price is right!
- 96myrnal (2/5): Not again - I should of read the reviews rather than trusting the travel brochures. There's a reason why in the travel brochures there isn't a real picture of the motel. It was late and pouring rain and supposedly it was there last room (but we heard that a few times in our travels) so we took it. Rickety back entrance with a pail labeled dog poop and the door barely shut. Ancient carpet in the dark dingy wallpanelled hallway. In the room more ancient carpet. The floor wasn't flat but heaved and not level. A newer tv sat on top of an old cabinet tv. Lol. We did NOT stay here again on way back home.
- Robertcopeland (10/5): Good Restaurant - Our server, Sara, said we picked the best place to eat in Whitehorse and she wasn't far from wrong. The service was great. The food was very good. I had potato soup that had big chunks of ham and was delicious. The liver was two very generous portions and was tender and tasted great. They knew how to make ice coffee. Highly recommend this restaurant.
- 923lindam (2/5): Bedding was not changed. Evidence of prior guests in sheets - The room we stayed in had 2 beds. One of the beds had clean sheets but the other did not. When my husband complained to the front desk, the young man quickly came to change them out. Next morning my husband spoke with the manager about this, and asked for some compensation. She was rather rude and said nothing could be done because he slept there and the sheets did get changed. It was very poor customer service from the management that did not seem to care about the cleanliness of the hotel or the satisfaction of their guests. We will never stay again. It was reasonably priced, but in this case, you got what you paid for. We would have rather stayed in a tent than witness the state of the linen on that bed.
- taramC5528KJ (6/5): Pros and Cons - Planned to stay for 3 nights for day surgery but only stayed 2.5 because the heat was too too much
Pros:
1. Clean
2. Fridge and coffee in room
3. Great staff
4. Attentive owner
5. Great parking
6. On main highway
7. Restaurant on site and pub
8. Close to airport if needed
9. Rooms have big windows
10 great tv
11 beautiful scenery
12. Pet friendly
Cons:
1. No air conditioning ( not uncommon in the Yukon) because of overhang very little air comes in from the windows. So hot it was hard to sleep. But outside it was beautiful. Each room needs two fans one that can stand in the window. I have some tolerance but the heat was even making my dog sick. The first night the night staff loaned me and extension cord so I could plug the fan in near the window. But it was a balancing act.
2. Only one small fan and hard to get it in the window where you can bring in fresh air
3. Was not told it would be two small beds
4. No microwaves
5. Old carpeting
6. Windows face out onto a porch where people can look in and in the middle of the night we found someone at our window peering in. Called front desk. Manager, owner and night guy attentive about the situation and will be calling rcmp but this is a consideration. I don’t know how long the guy would have been looking in if our dog didn’t bark. Night staff did not tell the owner or manager about the incident. Manager and owner are awesome.
7. Price for pet was more than quoted on the telephone
8. Beds were not the most comfortable
9. Old building
10. Paid the same as other hotels with more amenities.
11. No places to sit outside. That would have really helped.
Overall
It comes down to it’s clean and convenient. It’s an old building. I would stay again in the winter, spring or fall. Great staff.
- Hestercarmen (4/5): Restaurant has slow service - Our family and 3 older people and the waitress was lazy. She stayed on her phone when we walked in, got off to take our order and went back to it. Tables not busted but she had time on her phone. Steak was great but potatoes tasted like the morning hash browns mashed. My husband said he’s been before and it was better service. Don’t get mashed potatoes!
- dbsopera (8/5): Convenient, good parking, right by airport - Clean pleasant stop, right across from the airport and easy drive into interesting Whitehorse. I was here for a meeting so it was just simple in and out. Comfortable beds, adjustable heat and I had a good, plentiful breakfast at their restaurant.
Nice helpful front desk staff.

- orilliaguyz (6/5): Close to airport - We went to the Airport Chalet after our flight had arrived, and we had a couple of hours to wait for our relatives' flight. Food was okay; service was good. Didn't stay at the hotel, so can't comment on it.
- trailhealer (2/5): Worst Hotel experience of my whole trip - I know this is one of the cheapest places in Whitehorse, but that doesn't excuse the complete apathy and neglect with which this hotel is managed. You should provide services based on what you charge, not charge the going rate and call it good. This place stank like a hundred years of cigarettes. The internet doesn't work, at least not well enough to use webpages. There is no sound privacy at all - I could hear every cough and bed squeak and whispered conversation on the entire hall. To boot, the price we were charged ended up being a lot more than we were quoted when we showed up, and more than what is listed online. The person working the desk ignored this point and just started rambling about taxes and dogs and all the fees that we had already included the night before. You are better off anywhere else, though to get your money's worth in Whitehorse the best option is one of the hostels.
